Robots, Games And Chocolate

(Matts Room)

Matt growled to himself ‘First he ignores me for 4 days while Sherlock’s here, And now he’s gone Mello chooses to sleep.’ Matt punched the wall before sinking to his knees. ‘It’s fine i don’t need Mello.’ Matt lied in his own thoughts... ‘Near...i’ll go see how he is, He doesn’t blank me per say.’ Matt stood and opening his drawer he grabbed Mello’s chocolate supply and walked out of his room.
‘This will teach him to ignore me.’ Matt thought as he walked down stairs then outside and going to the old oak tree, Matt dug a little hole until he came to a box, he opened it and placed Mello’s chocolate inside before securing the lid and filling in the hole.
Standing up Matt went inside washing his hands. ‘Now where would Near be.’ Matt thought to himself ‘Library or common room, If not there he’ll be in his bedroom.’ Matt came out of the downstairs rest room.
Heading to the common room first. Matt looked around the large room.
There was tables and chairs scattered through half the room, A reading area with a few tables for homework. Then a small area of just floor space.
‘There he is.’ Matt thought walking over to Near, who was solving a puzzle on the floor. ‘He’s in here all alone.’ Matt took another glance around the room.
“Hey Near... If Mello asks i didn’t bury his chocolate ok?” Matt said unsure what else to say. Near cocked his head slightly still doing his jigsaw puzzle. “Why did you bury it?”
Matt frowned to himself not wanting to tell the truth “Oh you know he broke one of my games.”
Near shrugged “I won’t tell anyone.”
“Thanks.” Matt said sitting next to Near.
“Hey can i help out.” Matt asked nodding to the jigsaw puzzle in front of Near.
Near nodded and continued placing pieces, Matt reached out talking quietly to himself. “So this goes here.”
They continued in silence before Matt broke it. “Did Sherlock... I mean L give you this?”
“Yes and a new robot but Mello broke it already.” Near said nodding his head slightly.
“Did you manage to fix it.” Matt asked quietly.
Near frowned shaking his head “No...and he only brakes things cause he’s jealous.”
Yeah he can be a bitch like that at times. If you want i could take a look at the robot.” Matt said rubbing the back of his head.
Handing Matt his robot Near continued placing pieces of the jigsaw.
“He’s only mean to you because L likes you. I swear he wants to be in L’s pants.” Matt said fiddling with the robots broken arm.
“But L doesn’t like Mello-kun that way he is to young.” Near stated not looking up.
“I know, I know L slept with B but that’s the only known time he had been with a male.”
Matt stated wiggling the arm some more. “And what was with that.... B was one creepy dude.” “B was misunderstood, He was lonely and pressured to become better then L only to fall in love with someone he can’t have.”
“Suppose...L must of been lonely to. Don’t know why you and Mello want to be his heirs so much, I mean looks like a lonely thing to do.” Matt said frowning.
“But that’s what we’re here for.” Near replied
“Maybe so but i don’t want to be an heir. I just want to be near those i care about.”
“Maybe you don’t... I worked out Near and Mello can’t surpass L alone... I need Mello and Mello needs you.” Near paused briefly “You Matt push us from the background to be stronger.” Near finished looking from Matt back to the puzzle in front of him.
Matt blushed slightly “he he you’re probably right. I’d do anything for him, Even die for him.” He replies as he continues fixing the robot.
“Mello cares bout you, he just can’t always show it.” Near said quietly.
“Yeah the whole god says same sex is a sin annoys the hell out of me.” Matt smirked looking across to Near “You like him don’t you.”
Near looked up and replied “Maybe but he doesn’t like me and never will, and like more than one person.”
Matt smiled “You like Linda to?” He asked
Near shook his head “near doesn’t like girls...”
Matt blinked, Surprised at that reply. “Really...Oh i see who you like... L’s really popular.”
Rather then responding to that Near blinked and looked back to his puzzle before saying
“Mello only like you and L never me... no one likes me.”
Matt finished fixing the robots arm and starts on the head. “So Mello and one other person but not L.”
“That is correct yes.” Near replied in a bored tone.
“You should talk... i don’t know different.” Matt said not looking up from the robot.
“What is wrong with how i talk?” Near asked frowning.
“You talk in this monotone and emotionless voice, It’s often hard to tell what you mean.” Snaps the robots head back in place. “So whose the other guy?”
“Is monotone really that bad, If you don’t show emotions people can’t read them and in the end hurt you.” Near replied looking to the box of dice he picked up.
Matt stared wide eyed at Near “You can’t go through life never letting anyone know how you truly feel.”
“But won’t get hurt because no-one will know how to.” Near replied honestly.
“But how can you ever fall in love.”
“Who says i want to, Love is complicated.”
Matt moved closer to Near. “The horrible fact of life is that, it’s only the people who really love you, who can hurt you deeply.”
“Then Near doesn’t want to fall in love, That way he won’t get hurt.” Near said a frown on his face.
“Aww Near you don’t mean that.” Matt replied patting Nears head, Near nuzzled Matts hand before returning his attention to the dice...
After a few short moments Matt coughed.. “I fixed your robot.”
“Really.” Near examined his now fixed robot
“Thank you Matt-kun.” He showed a rare smile.
Matt blushed slightly “N...No problem, used to fixing my games when Mello kills them.”
“Not many people are nice to me so i’m truly grateful.” Near said before leaning in to Matt kissing his cheek before moving to lie on his stomach.
Matt went wide eyed “Near!”
Near looked to Matt but doesn’t reply.
“The other guy you like.” Matt asked slowly.
“What about him.” Near replied as he played with his robot.
“Well um...Is it me?” Matt asked unsure with himself.
“well Matt-kun doesn’t like Near.” Near replied kicking his feet slightly behind him playing with his robots arm.
“I never said that Near.” Matt replied, Near looked at him puzzled, head slightly tilted.
“I never said i didn’t like you.”
Near turned to face Matt “But you like Mello you’d do anything for him, I’m nothing like him.” Near replied calmly
“That doesn’t mean i hate you Near.” Matt answered before adding “But you’re right i probably would follow Mello forever.”
“Mello is likely to have someone like you.” Near said smiling sadly.
“When you love someone all you want is for them to be happy, even if they don’t know you
exist.” Matt replied smiling to himself.
“Near sometimes wishes for something like that but he is scared to look for it.”
Matt blushes slightly “You’re embarrassing me.” He said and began rubbing the back of his
head.
“Hey want to come up to my room to play a game of tetris.” he said smiling.
Near gave a small smile back to Matt. “I’ve never played it before.”
“It’s easy don’t worry i’ll show you how to do it.” Matt said standing up and holding out his hand to Near.
“Ok.” Near said and taking Matts hand standing.
