Asuka woke slowly, her mind still fuzzy from the night before. Slowly, she turned her head away from the light’s urgent glare. The hot sunlight bathed her entire body with heat, soaking through the skin and bone to shine upon her very soul.

Hold on…

She began to focus on her surroundings. The heat was only partially due to the suns warming rays as she found out. A mop of unruly hair fell over her chest, covering the head of her once-despised co-pilot.

“…Rei…”

She let the syllable roll softly over her tongue, smiling as she realized who it was sharing the comfort of the bed.

She let her arms drape themselves over the sleeping Hangetsu’s shoulders and closed her eyes to concentrate on the soft, rhythmic beat of a heart against her breast. She took a deep breath, taking in the smell of sweat and other scents coming from the blue girl’s head.
