I'm sorry for the whole 'Sora' thing. That was the first thing that popped into my head and I said if I can't come up with something better she's gonna be called that . Well, don't think I need to explain anymore ...
I'm also sorry for putting Tomoko in this, I wasn't going to but I kept throwing the unnamed female vampire into it and the more I thought about this the more she appeared and I HATE OC's. So, process or elimination left her. I've tried to make her less annoying.

CHAPTER 5
It was still an hour before sunset, too early for the Council to be starting. Tonight it was to be delayed even more because of Sanada’s sudden absence.
Tezuka sipped his tea and scrolled through his e-mails. Oishi had randomly hung up on him that afternoon, only to call him back several hours later and apologize profusely. Tezuka cringed at the thought of how much money he was going to have to put out to repair the room. Once the remains of the desks had started to be removed the Hunters found claw marks on the floors and walls, lots of them. More squabbles between Shifters. If that kept up he was going to have to banish them from the building, and he really didn’t want to have to do that.
It was a long enough day without their help.
Sanada left to protect Kirihara, who had been kidnapped by the Vampire they thought had disappeared. The details were still sketchy; he was going to have to sit Kirihara down to get the full story. All he really knew was that Kirihara and his friend Marui Bunta were put in danger by Yohei.
His Hunters were losing faith as is, this news wasn't going to help. He needed this Council meeting to finally go his way, he wasn’t sure his Hunters could handle another let down. They were keeping face, going about their day to day business as usual, but how long could they keep it up? How long could their brothers and sisters murders and injuries go without revenge? Without being justified?
He found an e-mail in amongst the spam he wasn’t expecting. Kajimoto? He opened the file, scanning the long letter. Kajimoto had tried to phone but couldn’t get through, that was true, while in the Councils building his phone didn’t get service. Strange turn of events, someone had come up on Kajimoto’s radar as suspicious. An officer was taking a little bit too much interest in his Hunters. He wouldn’t tell him the name over e-mail, but as soon as he could he was to phone. When he was back home he would phone, he didn’t want too much of his business aired about unfriendly ears.
“More tea?”
Tezuka jumped, so focused on his computer he didn’t hear the Council’s human servant enter the waiting room. “Ah, Shinjou-san, yes, that would be nice.”
The human servant, Shinjou Reiji, was a tall man in his mid-twenties. His lanky framed was dressed in a pressed casual suit, professional without looking like a butler. He nodded and left the room to fetch the tea pot.
Tezuka shook his head, he was still getting used to the fact that some humans willingly became slaves to the undead. The Council had a few human servants, mostly guards to protect their daytime resting spots. Shinjou was the only one Tezuka had seen in the building. According to Atobe the human stuck relatively close to ‘Sora’. Not much was known about the servant, he was skilled at keeping the Vampires out of his head. He waited on them, running errands as they needed.
Shinjou returned, bowing low over the table to refill Tezuka’s cup. “They should be waking soon. Knowing Sanada-sama, it won’t take him too long to get back, they won’t start without him.”
Tezuka nodded, smiling at the other Human. Even though he was close to the Council, it was nice to have another mortal around.
Tezuka sent a quick e-mail back to Kajimoto, setting up a meeting for next week and apologizing for being out of cell service.
Only a little longer to wait to find out the fate of his Hunters.
Kirihara stood with a group of Hunters in front of a two storey red brick building. Momoshiro, Kaidoh, Yuuta, Mizuki, Jackal, and Yanagisawa clustered around him. The sky was aflame behind them with the setting sun, fitting for the job they had planned.
Dan may not have been allowed to meet with Vampires as long as he worked for the Organization, but that didn’t mean his information was useless. He had informed them of an interesting little fact; not all Fledglings lived with the Master of the City, or on their own. Some clustered together with a Matron in what was known simply as a safe-house. It was like a half-way house for Fledglings and young Vampires who couldn’t, or wouldn’t, make it on their own.
The girl that was seen with Yohei was apparently spotted going into one of the safe houses.
Only one way to find out.
The windows were shuttered and the door was double locked. Momoshiro and Jackal lined up shoulder to shoulder and the double locks couldn’t stand up to two powerful booted feet. The door swung open and the Hunters rushed in, trying not to attract attention. Mizuki closed the door and put a chair underneath the handle while the other Hunters fanned out to find the nest.
“Hey guys!” Yanagisawa pointed to a door with several deadbolts, “it locks from the inside.”
Kirihara went to work on the locks while the others checked the rest of the rooms, making sure there were no hidden surprises. He popped the locks and all the Hunters came back, the house was clear. Guess they never expected Hunters to be paying a visit.
The white door slowly creaked open, a long staircase extended down, the bottom hidden by darkness. Clicking on flashlights the Hunters went down the stairs, guns ready.
In the basement they found the nest. Several coffins were scattered around the floor, all in different sizes and colours. The basement itself was non-descript; cement floor, bare walls, a single light hanging over head. There were no windows, so there was no way they could be exposed to the sunlight – accidentally or on purpose.
Kirihara grinned and the other Hunters responded. This was the work they were used to; this is what they were supposed to do!
Setting to work quickly they sent Momoshiro and Yuuta back out to the truck. Momoshiro backed his large F-250, a new truck he bought once his car finally gave up, into the driveway and the two dragged in several lengths of chain which they used to close the coffins. Heavy padlocks were used to keep the chains in place. It was a little extravagant but it always worked.
Kirihara kept an eye on his wristwatch, waiting. The sun went down soon, it was almost time for work to start.
Some Hunters squatted on the floor, others leaned against the wall. Waiting. They didn’t have to wait long.
The largest coffin creaked, but when the lid wouldn’t open the scratching and knocking started. The next coffin, a smaller one, started tapping as well. Soon a chorus of knocking and scratching filled the room, followed almost immediately by panicked calls and terrified screams. The Vampires realized they were trapped.
“Quiet down and we won’t kill you.” Kirihara called above the noise.
It fell silent, as only the dead can. No typical human sounds; the groans of emptry stomachs, inhaling and exhaling, shuffling.
“What do you want?” A female voice from the largest coffin asked, voice angry yet curious.
“I take it you’re the Matron?” Kirihara walked over to the coffin, kicking it lightly. The woman shrieked in shock. “We’re looking for someone.”
“They’re not here!” She screamed.
Kirihara clicked his tongue, “how do you know that if I haven’t even told you who we’re looking for?”
The woman banged on the top of her coffin, “we’re not going to help you!”
Kirihara chuckled again, “you’re really not in the position to say that, you know.”
“We’re looking for a girl,” Jackal spoke up, “she’s been seen with a Vampire called Yohei. We just want to talk to her.”
“She’s not here!” The Matron said, her voice weak.
“We heard different. We heard she’s been hiding here,” Kirihara sat on the top of the coffin.
“She’s not!”
Kirihara sighed and shook his head, “I really didn’t want to do this …” he gestured to the smallest coffin and Yuuta stepped up.
He opened a small bag he had been carrying; the smell of lighter fluid filled the air and nervous murmurs started from the coffins. He pulled rags soaked in lighter fluid from the bag and stuffed them around the foot of the coffin. He lit a match and dropped it into the rags. A flame erupted with a roar and the Vampires started screaming. A new voice started, once they hadn’t heard before. Hysterical screaming and crying; from a child. The Hunters looked to one another in shock. They were taught that Vampires were just dead bodies re-animated; unfortunately, they were never taught how to deal with a screaming child Vampire.
“You’re looking for me!” A female voice rose above the others, banging loudly on the lid of her coffin. “Put out the fire and take the shit off my coffin!!”
“Go.” Kirihara waved to the Hunters and they got to work.
Yuuta put out the fire with the fire extinguisher he brought. Kirihara unchained the Matron and Jackal unchained the child. Momoshiro and Kaidoh unchained the girl and dragged her out of her coffin. Kirihara leveled his gun at the Matron, keeping her close to the wall and apart from her flock incase she tried to be a hero.
Once the small coffin was open the child scrambled out, eyes darting around until he found the Matron and then rushed to her side. She gathered him in her arms, glaring at the Hunters.
“How old is he?” Kirihara demanded.
“He’s-“
“In Vampire years,” Kirihara interrupted.
The Matron paused, looking from the child to the Hunters, “two weeks.”
“Jesus Christ,” Momoshiro cursed.
“Why would someone do that to a child?” Mizuki shook his head.
Kirihara kept quiet, he knew all too well why someone would do that. “We need to talk to the girl …then we’ll deal with him.”
They all knew what that meant. There were new rules now. Any Child Vampire found was to be executed on the spot; these new rules came directly from Sanada. Kind of Hypocritical coming from him, but even he realized what could happen after the problems with the Twins.
They dragged the girl upstairs, leaving Jackal, Yanagisawa, and Mizuki to guard the nest. Momoshiro threw the girl down on the couch and held his gun in her view. Her eyes widened when she noticed the weapons and shrank away from them, trying to disappear into the couch.
“You were with a group of renegades, then you decide to start attacking guys in a bar …where does working with Yohei come into all of this?” Kirihara started, skipping all pleasantries.
The girl sighed, she couldn’t have been more than 16. Her auburn hair was loose aroun her shoulders from just waking up. “The crew I was with first …yeah they seemed like good guys but then we got into a little bit of trouble,” she shrugged, “it was after you guys started chasing us that Yohei found us.”
That didn’t sound promising. “And?”
The girl rolled her eyes; oh yeah, she was at most 16, with the matching attitude. “And …they told me something interesting.”
“Like what?” Kirihara growled, he didn’t like the change of topic.
“You’re part Vampire.”
Kirihara froze but disguised his shock with a roll of his eyes, “you can’t he part Vampire, you’re either living or dead. You can't be both, good try though.”
The girl grinned, leaning forward on her knees, “not if you’re sharing blood with a Master of the City.”
“Well, that’s enough of that,” he grabbed the girl by the arm and hauled her up off the couch. The girl fought him but in his rage she couldn’t break his grip. He dragged her into the kitchen with a quick ‘one minute’ gesture to the others. He threw her against the kitchen counter, “where the fuck did you hear that!?”
The girl snarled at him, rubbing her elbow where it connected with the counter, “I hear a lot of things. Like how Yohei is shacking up with some Ancient and that Ancient has ties to someone really powerful that’s pulling all the strings.”
“Yeah, we know that.”
“Kite is working with a witch and a werewolf, as well as another Vampire.” She continued, “but that’s not really what you want to know. You want to know how much I know about you.”
Kirihara’s eyes narrowed, “yeah, and?”
“The Vampires are scared of you. You’re powerful, I couldn’t break your grip and even though I’m young, I’m stronger than a human. You’re getting powerful and no one likes it. Word has it the Council found out about you and now they’re not happy.”
“What do you mean, not happy?” Kirihara frowned.
She shrugged, “I don’t know, this is just what I’ve heard traveling around. Yohei has strict orders out that he’s the only one to touch you. But apparently Kite has different orders.”
“About me?”
She shook her head, “no, just in general, apparently there are a few people that aren’t supposed to be harmed.”
“Who?”
She shook her head again, “I have no idea.”
Kirihara didn’t like what this was leading up to. “Do you know who this Master is, the one pulling all the strings?”
“Everyone just refers to her as ‘She’ or the ‘Mistress’, they’re pretty hush-hush about it. I guess that’s just to make sure that ears like mine don’t hear too much.”
That made sense. It still left them with more questions than answers. “I need you to tell the other guys this, but leave out the part about me.”
She nodded, a small smirk on her face, “did I reveal some big secret?”
“It’s not a secret anymore.” Kirihara snorted, taking her elbow to lead her back into the living room.
“Whats your name?” Yuuta asked when they were back into the room and the girl had seated herself back at the couch.
“Tomoko,” she answered sharply.
“Just Tomoko?” Momoshiro raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, Just Tomoko.” She glared. If she felt better on a first name basis, no one was going to argue.
Kirihara let her explain what she had told him, leaving everyone frowning and cursing, and then asked, “why are you working for Yohei? You don’t seem like the type?”
Tomoko frowned, mulling over her reply. She sighed and crossed her arms, “I’ve been a Vampire for …a while now, and my little brothers are all grown up with families of their own. Yohei threatened to turn them into those re-animated corpse type Vampires unless I helped him. As long as I did what he asked, like the thing with the bars, my brothers are safe.”
Damn, way to make them feel like assholes. “Do you know where Yohei is?”
She shook her head, “no, he finds us when he wants something. He wanted us to attack those bars to get your attention. He told us he was looking for a Kirihara Akaya and told us what you look like,” she pointed to Kirihara. “Something about revenge for his brother? He goes against Kite and then Kite gets pissed off with him and they fight.”
“Shit, we still don’t know anything about him!” Yuuta cursed.
Kirihara ran his fingers through his hair, “we need someone who hears everything and no one suspects. Even if we get in there, we’re humans, we need …”
They all turned to look at Tomoko, “a Vampire.”
“Hold on!” Tomoko threw her hands up when she realized they were talking about her, “I never agreed to that!”
Yuuta nodded, “that’s a good idea, she’d be close to Yohei and his group and could let us know what was happening.”
“Hey! Does my opinion matter at ALL?” She jumped up from the couch.
“No,” they all said in chorus.
“Oh for god sakes. If I do this can you promise me something?” She propped her weight on one hip and crossed her arms with a huff.
“Depends, we may have to talk to our Captain about it …” Kirihara frowned.
“Keep my brothers safe, and I’ll be your informant.”
They couldn’t argue that. “Deal.”
“How do we get in contact with you?” Kirihara asked.
“Do you have a blackberry?” She quirked an eyebrow in that teenage you’re-an-idiot way.
“…yeah …” Kirihara had gotten the new phone when his other ended up in a sewer. Most of the Hunters were switching to smart phones. It was easier to keep in contact with one another and with the interesting little program called a black berry messenger they were able to let everyone know where they were without having to sit down and text all several dozen Hunters.
Handing over his phone Tomoko quickly entered in all her information and then texted it to the other Hunters in the room. “There. I’m your informant. I’ll let you know what Yohei does next, and if I hear anything interesting.”
“Get out of here before we change our minds,” Kirihara grinned and pointed to the door. Tomoko nodded and dashed out of the house.
“What are we gonna do about …?” Kaidoh said quietly, nodding to the closed basement door. “He’s just a kid.”
“All the more reason.” Kirihara growled.
“Kirihara,” Yuuta started, but was silenced by a blood-shot glare.
“The rules are to execute child Vampires on site, who knows how many people that little mosquito has killed before they got him here. And who knows how many he’s going to kill after we leave. They can’t be controlled.” He was trying to convince himself more than the others. This needed to be done, this was their job. They could be saving dozens of lives by sacrificing one.
Kirihara left the Hunters upstairs as he went to the basement to follow his instructions. He opened the basement door to the sounds of hysterical and terrified screaming. The kid knew what was coming. Sometimes to be the good guy, one has to play the part of the monster.
Tezuka found himself in the middle of the Council chambers, heart in his throat. The Council had started later because it took Sanada longer than expected to get back. The Master looked exhausted and paler than usual when he showed up; the chamber doors were shut tight behind him as soon as he stepped through.
After what seemed like eons the door opened and Shinjou escorted Tezuka in.
“We have come to a decision.”
Tezuka inhaled sharply, “yes?”
“The answer is no.”
Tezuka felt his whole world crash, without her say-so they’d never get into the underground. Without that Kite and Akutsu would always have a safe place to hide.
The Vampires around the table looked to her in shock, apparently they weren’t expecting this turn of events either
“Your Hunters have already lost faith, giving you access to our Safe zones would do nothing.” She sneered.
Tezuka’s breath caught in his throat; his shields were tighter than usual, and he never mentioned his Hunters to anyone, so how did she know? It went above and beyond a lucky guess. He bowed his head; he wouldn’t argue or agree with her, he didn't want to give her access to his mind more than she seemed to already have. Something was wrong here.
Sora smiled and stood up from her chair, “I assume we all have other business to attend to?”
“Please reconsider!” Tezuka tried again.
Atobe and Sanada both sent him a sharp look; Tezuka was toeing the line a little too closely.
Sora stepped away from the table and walked up to Tezuka, “to what extent Human? What will you do after you have found those that have hunted you? You will not leave my children alone; I have seen your kind throughout History. Pretty promises and kind words, but underneath you are as much the killer as we are.” With a final hiss she stalked past him and out of the Chambers.
Once the other members followed Atobe grabbed Sakaki and shoved him back. “You told me you’d get her to reconsider!”
Sakaki took a step back, smoothing his jacket, “this is as much as surprise to myself as it is to you! When we left she was in agreement! With a situation like this it is best to leave the dirty work up to the humans! We are bound by too many rules!” He glared down at Atobe.
“Then what the hell happened?” Atobe hissed.
“She acted on her own without our guidance, you know her word is final. There is nothing that can be done here.” His demeanor suddenly changed and he quirked an eyebrow.
Atobe opened his mouth to retort but stopped with a sharp intake, something passed between the two Vampires that only he seemed to understand. “Of course, I apologize for my outburst.”
Sakaki nodded to Atobe and then did the same to Sanada and Tezuka. He followed the rest of the Council out of the Chambers and closed the door behind him.
“What-“ Sanada stared to ask.
“I know what we can do.” Atobe interrupted.
“We?” Tezuka frowned.
“Yes we, since your original idea failed you’re going to need our help!”
“I don’t like this ‘our’ thing,” Sanada snorted, “whatever you’re planning keep me out of it!”
Atobe let out a bark of laughter, “of course, wouldn’t want to get you into any MORE trouble with the Council then you already are!”
Sanada darted a glance to Tezuka and then growled at Atobe, “keep that to yourself!”
“Yes, something about a human servant by the name of Kirihara Akaya that wasn’t sanctioned by the council?” Atobe grinned.
“WHAT!?” Tezuka turned on Sanada.
Sanada held his hands up in defense, “he’s not my human servant, they blew that way out of proportion!”
“Yes, sharing blood is actually not that big of a deal! And on top of that a forced sexual relationship, really, totally blown out of proportion!”
“Forced sexual-WHAT!?” Tezuka screeched.
Sanada sighed, rubbing his hands over his face, “When I saved Kirihara when he was a child I created a bond. Now that he’s older I’m affected by his rage, when he gets pissed off I can’t control myself and I …”
Before he could finish Tezuka cocked back his left hand and hooked Sanada in the jaw. The Vampire’s head snapped to the side but he didn’t retaliate. “You raped him!?”
“Oh please Tezuka, like you haven’t!” Atobe laughed.
Tezuka opened his mouth and closed it in the perfect imitation of a fish. “How dare you bring that up!”
Atobe rolled his eyes, “this is another reason the Council is having issues with our dear little Akaya. Sanada is letting him be passed around. Both of you,” he stopped and grinned, “and myself, have had some form of intercourse with him.”
“And you!?” Both Sanada and Tezuka snapped.
“Merely in his dreams,” Atobe couldn’t fight off the grin. He was purposely stirring the two up.
Tezuka gaped at the two Vampires, no wonder Kirihara was spazzier and angrier than usual!
“The council wants a display that Sanada is in control of his servant, after that he’s off their …how do you say it? Shit list?” Atobe explained.
“How dare you do this to my Hunter!” Tezuka raised his fist, taking a step forward to take another swing at Sanada.
“Whoa! I didn’t do it on purpose! I would never have done that! Tezuka don’t act like you don’t know me!” The Master growled.
Tezuka stopped, that was true, Sanada’s aggression was out of character. He was dominating, but not like that. He had a personal code that he stuck to, and his recent actions went against what he believed.
“Kirihara is training with a witch I know to control himself better …” Tezuka sighed, he had no idea what his little Hunter had been going through. He was starting to believe no one did.
“Uh …” Sanada and Atobe glanced at one another, “that might not be for the best.”
“What do you mean?”
“The more he bottles it up the worse it gets, I fear something bad may come of it if he keeps it in,” Sanada explained.
“Something bad, how?”
“We don’t know, no one does. Akaya is a being all his own, there’s never been someone so full of natural rage given Vampire blood. We don’t know what will happen, we just feel his power. When I was in his head I felt his strength, it’s not good Tezuka.” Atobe crossed his arms, eyes narrowed.
“Shit, this is so out of my league it isn’t even funny.” Tezuka sighed in frustration.
“Now you know. But, putting that aside, I want to help you get into our safe haven, even without the Councils okay,” Atobe dropped his voice.
Sanada hissed at him, “not here! If you want to discuss this we’ll do it when we get back! We could be executed for treason, Atobe!”
Atobe rolled his eyes, “alright, alright. When we’re away from here we’ll discuss this. I want this finalized just as much as you do, I have lives to avenge too.”
