Tōya hates the silence that immediately follows his little admission, and he hates the nervous feeling that creeps through him as he watches a range of emotions cross Izuku's face even more. The nervousness becomes worry as Izuku seems to settle on anger, his jaw set as he stares at Tōya, and then Izuku opens his mouth.
"I already didn't like Endeavor because of what little Todoroki-kun told me about his life during the Sports Festival but I get the feeling that I'm going to hate him once you tell me the rest." Izuku's voice is deceptively calm and quiet as he speaks while his gaze is cold and steely, and Tōya is relieved that Izuku's anger isn't directed at him. He is actually elated to learn that Izuku doesn't like his father, never mind the fact that it's because of Shōto running his mouth, and he is even feeling more than a bit gleeful that he is going to be one responsible for twisting Izuku's dislike of Enji into hatred.
"Well, first, I'm Tōya, the oldest of Enji's attempts at creating a successor with the perfect quirk to surpass All Might." Tōya relaxes in his seat, his hands steepled on his lap, and he watches Izuku with hooded eyes as he divulges the ugly history of his family. He leaves nothing out, and it is a glorious thing to watch the same hatred he holds towards Enji build up in Izuku's eyes until he is quite literally trembling with rage.
"I almost wish I had punched him when I had ran into him at the Sports Festival," Izuku all but grumbles and there is a flicker of green lightning that sparks off of him. Tōya arches a brow and wonders what that is about but he is also curious as to why and how Izuku had even ran into Endeavor at the Sports Festival of all places. "It's like he was waiting for me, and he mentioned how similar my Quirk was to All Might's, which he doesn't even know how close he actually was about that because All Might gave me his…Quirk and why am I telling you this?! I'm not supposed to tell anyone else because if it gets out that All Might doesn't-"
"Izuku!" Tōya says sharply, and he is more worried about the hysterical state that Izuku is working himself into rather than the fact that he is revealing what most certainly has to be an international secret that will have damning consequences if it does get out. They will be discussing it later, once he gets Izuku to calm down and understand why it is he is spilling his secrets to Tōya so easily…which he should already know since it is something that he should have learned in junior high school. Tōya hates to think that Izuku doesn't know something that is general knowledge but given his reaction… "Just take a breath and tell me what you know about soulmates, okay?"
Izuku seems to flounder with his growing hysteria for a moment before he finally inhales, slowly and deeply, and he appears to calm down a little. Well, calm isn't quite the word for it because Izuku looks guilt-stricken, his eyes glistening with tears, and he looks away from Tōya. "The only thing I've ever been told in regards to soulmates is that a Quirkless Deku like me doesn't have the right to have one."
Tōya sits up straighter and stares at Izuku in disbelief, not quite sure if he had just heard him correctly. Everyone has a soulmate, Quirk or not, and that Izuku believes he doesn't have the right to have one because he had apparently been Quirkless is almost unfathomable to him. That someone bothered to fill Izuku's mind with such bullshit pisses him off to no end, and he is going to hunt down whoever is responsible for making Izuku believe he doesn't have the right to have a soulmate so he can murder them. First things first, however, and that is for him to give Izuku a crash course in soulmates.
"Well, first off," Tōya begins as he pushes the chair back from the bed and moves to sit beside Izuku. From here it is easy for him to pull Izuku onto his lap, and Izuku doesn't resist him in the slightest but he does tremble in Tōya's grasp. "I beg to fucking differ because I'm right here and I have no intention of leaving you, so you can forget that absolute bullshit about you not having the right to have a soulmate. You could still be Quirkless and I wouldn't give a damn because you are my soulmate."
Izuku's trembling increases and he whimpers, at which Tōya pauses to nuzzle his nose into Izuku's hair in an effort to soothe and comfort him. "You should know that soulmates can't lie to each other, which is why you couldn't hide that tidbit about All Might giving you his Quirk from me, and you don't have to worry about me going and telling anyone that he doesn't have his Quirk anymore. I don't give a damn about that, Izuku. I only care about you and your well-being."
Izuku sobs softly and turns in his arms just enough to tuck his face against Tōya's neck, and though Tōya can't feel it against his skin, he knows that Izuku is crying. He stays quiet and presses his cheek against the top of Izuku's head, his eyes closing halfway as he just holds onto him and listens to him cry. It is both heartbreaking and infuriating, and Tōya is now more determined than ever to find and murder the person or persons responsible for filling Izuku's head with such a reprehensible lie, and all because he hadn't developed a Quirk of his own.
That Tōya might have to pry that information out of Izuku…well, he hopes that Izuku will understand that he only has his best interests in mind. That Tōya figures resorting to murder on behalf of a heroics student is okay, well, that's going to be a discussion to be had along with Izuku's own past.
