Soladite stood in the arena facing Jadeite. Both of them were dripping with sweat, bruised, abraded, and nearly exhausted. Jadeite had been teaching her how to catch an energy attack and turn it back on the caster, with a bit of her own energy added. Once she had learned how to do it, she then had to master how to throw it and then shield before he could return the favor.
After nearly a week of training on this alone, she was fast enough that she scored on him at least as often as he scored on her.
She felt the eyes of others on them, and she had no wish to defeat her second-favorite ‘uncle’ in front of his subordinates. She had settled for driving him to exhaustion. One day, they would find out who was the stronger in private, not before all these underlings.
After attempting to manifest one more attack, and failing, Jadeite straightened himself and bowed to her, a signal that the lesson was at an end.
Soladite’s days were full of time with either Jadeite or Nephrite. They were not only training her abilities in combat, but teaching her the more delicate manipulations that were so difficult to attain. No one but Kunzite had managed to produce a living flower. Jadeite and Nephrite kept telling Soladite that she and her sister were the most talented students they had ever had.
Soladite wanted to manage what no one else but Kunzite ever had. She wanted to shower him and Zoisite, and her sister, with roses. She wanted to fill his quarters with flowers. She wanted to show everyone that no one was worthy of Kunzite except for her sister, Zoisite, and herself. She especially wanted Takara to fear her.
Even absorbed in her thoughts, Soladite was aware when someone came close to her. She spun around, a boomerang of crimson power manifesting in her hand, ready to fly.
Nephrite raised his hands and smiled.
“Good,” he said. “I wanted to see if I could sneak up on you when you were tired. Not only did you sense me, but you were ready with an attack. That is very good. I’ll have others try at odd times. I will not use any of Beryl’s youma, or Takara. If you don’t know whoever it is, attack them.”
“Like this?” she asked, then let loose with an attack she had only mastered that morning, in the privacy of her chambers.
A cage of fire sprang up around Nephrite, and then contracted. So long as he did not move, he was not harmed. He watched as she lowered her hands and turned away, seemingly no longer concentrating on her creation.
“Well done, Soladite,” he said. “How much concentration does it require?”
“None,” she answered flippantly. She frowned for a moment, and Nephrite felt something in the cage shift before Soladite dismissed it with a flick of her fingers.
“I would ask you how you did that,” he said. “But I suspect that you wish to keep that information for yourself.”
“For now, at least, yes,” Soladite said. “In time, such as when I am finished training, I will share it with the four of you and my sister, no one else.” She smiled at him to show that it wasn’t him she didn’t trust, then teleported away to her quarters for a bath and some rest.
When she arrived in her quarters, she found her bed strewn with pink roses, a sign that Kunzite had been there.
True to the queen’s orders, they had not seen one another since the day that Soladite had awakened, except in public. When they encountered one another in the throne room or the arena, they never spoke directly to one another unless it was relevant to the situation.
The restrictions were taxing on both of them, but they knew that those days would come to a close. There was no one who could teach her better how to create youma than Kunzite and Zoisite. Even if Zoisite became her mentor in that, it would be better than nothing.
Soladite went to take her bath after securing her door, positive that no one could breach her locking spells. After she bathed, she wanted a nap.
~*~*~*~
When Soladite woke, she immediately sensed something was wrong. She was nude, there was a weight on her, and someone was handling her roughly. She remembered having men and women in her bed, and none of them had been rough with her, except Takara.
Her eyes snapped open to find his face looming over her. He snapped his fingers and her arms and legs were tied in place.
He amused himself for a while by stroking her smooth flesh, and pinching or biting particularly sensitive places. When he tired of that, he brought his full weight onto her. She could feel him positioning himself, and she knew what was coming. She tried in vain to close her legs enough that he could not get in, but she felt his probing at her nether lips, then the pain as he forced his way into her resisting body yet again.
She was determined not to give him the satisfaction of making her scream, so she kept her cries of pain stifled as best she could. She had no hope that someone would hear what was going on, and decided to bear with it until it was over, and then find some way to get back at him.
Abruptly, Takara was yanked away from her and out of her and slammed into the far wall. Standing in the doorway was a green-skinned, pink-haired woman of great beauty that Soladite vaguely remembered from the throne room.
"You beast!" she cried. "You'll pay for this!"
"I don't think so," he said, rising to his feet and starting towards her.
Before he got far, she disappeared in a flurry of leaves, to reappear next to Soladite. She made the bonds vanish, and then gathered Soladite against her along with a sheet to cover her.
"The Queen shall hear of this, Takara," she said, clasping Soladite to her. "She told you to leave them alone." She and Soladite teleported away.
~*~*~*~
They appeared in the throne room, apparently empty except for the figure on the dais.
"My Queen," the woman said. "Takara has disobeyed you again! I found him in Soladite's room, assaulting her!"
"Approach, Amethyst," the Queen said. "Bring her with you."
Amethyst helped Soladite up the steps of the dais, then both of them knelt before the Queen, Soladite with a hiss of pain.
"You are injured?" the Queen inquired.
"Nothing he hasn't done before, My Queen," Soladite replied automatically. "Nothing I can't get him back for."
"Takara!" the Queen called out. "Report!" There was a soundless burst of power and Soladite's stepfather materialized at the foot of the dais, fully clothed and armored.
"You disappoint me again, Takara," the Queen said. "You will be punished." She waved her hand and he disappeared.
"Amethyst, take her back to her room," the Queen said. "I will send Hematite to care for her."
"Yes my queen," Amethyst said, bowing. She put her arm around Soladite again and teleported her back to her room, then helped her into bed. She gasped as she saw the bloody marks the bindings had left, as well as the livid bruises all over Soladite's body.
"That beast should be tortured!" she cried. She sat down next to the bed and started lightly brushing her fingertips over a bruise that was so severe that blood had actually oozed out of the pores in the skin. Where her fingers touched, they left a soothing gel of some kind that made the pain recede.
"What are you?" Soladite asked in an awe-filled voice. Amethyst smiled shyly.
"I used to be human," she said. "But I wasn't very pretty. The queen gave me great powers, Once I knew how, I made myself look like I always wanted to. I was very pretty. Unfortunately, I was pretty enough to interest Takara. He hurt me, very badly. I heard some of the others talking about 'tree children.' I listened to what they were, and what they looked like, and I changed myself again. Now Takara doesn't want anything to do with me. I'm too alien for him."
"I think you're beautiful," Soladite said. Amethyst looked startled at the tone in her voice.
"Only one other person has looked at me and sounded that way," Amethyst said. "At least since I changed again. Hematite finds almost everybody attractive. Why are you looking at me that way, Soladite?"
"I like my name," Soladite said, then turned her eyes to Amethyst. "I like the way you say it better." She leaned forward before Amethyst knew what she was doing, and kissed her.
When they broke apart an eternity later, Soladite had propped herself up on one hand, and had entwined the other hand in Amethyst's hair, making it easier to make the kiss deeper and more thorough. Both of them were shaking a bit, and Amethyst's eyes were shining with tears.
"What did you do that for?" Amethyst asked.
"I told you I thought you were beautiful," Soladite replied. "You asked why I was looking at you 'that way.' I wanted to kiss you. You didn't exactly fight it."
"No," Amethyst admitted, blushing. “Only Hematite looked at me that way before. I didn’t know … “
Anything further either of them might have said was interrupted by a knock on the door. The door opened and a handsome young man came in. Like Amethyst, he was dressed in the same uniform Soladite wore, except for the color of the trim. Amethyst's was trimmed in lavender, and this man's was trimmed in silver. Soladite thought about hers, trimmed in gold, and figured that it meant they were nearly equal in rank.
"Hematite," Amethyst said, rising to her feet. "She needs your talents. Takara was here, overstepping himself again."
"So I heard," he said, his expression pinched. He paused to brush Amethyst's cheek with his lips as she passed him, and then sat down where she had been.
"I am a healer," he said. "I was asked to see to your injuries."
"Oh," Soladite said, looking him up and down. She obediently laid down on her stomach when Hematite indicated the bed, and even voluntarily unwrapped the sheet from around her body to reveal her bare skin and the livid marks all over it. He sighed, then started running his hands over her body, causing bruises to fade and bite marks to disappear.
While he was healing her, Hematite also caressed her. She felt her pulse quicken, first in apprehension, then in arousal. His expert hands awakened feelings in her that Takara had never attempted to rouse, and would never have succeeded if he had tried.
By the time Hematite asked her to roll over so he could get at the injuries on her front, she was arching like a cat in heat, and feeling as if her body were on fire and her blood were boiling. She pressed her body into his hands as he touched her, almost not feeling the pains from the bruises and bites before they faded under Hematite's hands.
Hematite hesitated a bit when he finished healing the injuries on Soladite's body. She was very attractive to him, but he was unsure of how far to take the situation. Amethyst had not responded to him immediately after Takara's assault, and she had only responded to him and Jadeite since then. Soladite was definitely more experienced. She knew what his touch meant, and was responding to it.
With immense care, he cupped her breasts in his hands, gently running his thumbs across the firm peaks until they tightened into nubs of flesh nearly as hard as stone. He brought his lips down to first one, and then the other while his hands traveled further down her body to stroke at the silken skin on the insides of her thighs.
She parted them without protest and moaned enticingly when his hands slid up to where her legs met and his fingers began exploring the moist folds of flesh. He was a bit surprised at her responsiveness, especially so soon after Takara's brutal attack, and even more surprised to find her swollen with desire and oozing slippery liquid that gave mute testimony to her arousal.
Encouraged, Hematite made his own clothes vanish and gathered her into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him and drew him to her of her own accord, while wrapping her legs around his waist until the tip of his erect staff was held in the tender grip of her wetness.
He moaned with desire, now, and his hips flexed of their own accord, causing him to penetrate her further and further until he was fully engulfed by soft, slippery flesh that gripped and squeezed him in time to her gasps of pleasure. At the same time, he instinctively levitated them both until they hovered in midair.
Now both of them were operating on instinct as he withdrew a bit, and then thrust back in gently. She gasped and met his movements half way, the two of them building to the inevitable pinnacle that they both did and did not want to reach.
When they did reach it, they reached it together. She nearly screamed as she climaxed, her silken sheath convulsing around his iron rod, squeezing his own climax out of him with an energy that left him gasping for breath. He was amazed at the energy she put into lovemaking, and even more amazed when, feeling that he had not softened at all, she began moving again, once again drawing him into the dizzying spiral of sensation that only had one ending.
Quite some time later, when she had realized they were making love in midair and had gotten over the shock, and after sharing a shower with her, Hematite left her sleeping peacefully amid silk sheets, a crimson silk nightgown, and a scattering of jasmine flowers. He started to make his way to his own quarters when he was intercepted by the newest general except for the two sisters: Quartzite.
"You're needed in Tanzanite's quarters," Quartzite said. "Takara's up to his old stunts again. He was supposed to be reviewing some training exercises. I’m to tell the Queen that he had another kind of exercise in mind."
"I think I am grateful that he is only heterosexually oriented," Hematite said. "I would not care for his attentions, myself. I've just finished cleaning up after him."
"Soladite?" Quartzite asked. Hematite nodded.
"Jadeite is with Tanzanite," Quartzite said. "You might want him to keep an eye on Soladite while you're … taking care of Tanzanite."
Hematite nodded and followed Quartzite to the room that had been set aside for Tanzanite.
Once inside, he found Jadeite stroking the abundant chestnut hair of Tanzanite, who was curled up under a sheet, shivering in shock and pain. When Jadeite saw Hematite approach, he sighed in relief.
"She needs a gentle touch," he said. "Takara was uncommonly rough, even for him. Gentleness isn't something I have much experience with."
"He got caught with Soladite," Hematite responded. "I just finished with her."
"I'll keep an eye on her," Jadeite said. "Until Takara is found and punished. He got away from me. Nephrite is reporting, and then going after him."
"Then you probably should watch her," Hematite said. "Something about her seems to make him more of a beast." Jadeite nodded, stroked Tanzanite's hair one last time, and left her alone with Hematite.

Soladite and Tanzanite stood side by side, facing two of the junior generals: Lodite and Alexandrite. They were adept at sparring with Nephrite and Jadeite, so now they were up against opponents that they did not know.
“What do you think?” Soladite asked.
“You’re the strategist,” Tanzanite pointed out. “You tell me.”
“How about we tag team them?” Soladite said. “We switch opponents every other attack, until they figure that out. Then, we just hammer them.”
“Good idea,” Tanzanite said. “Lets get them.”
Neither of them noticed two figures, one much smaller than the other, watching from the back of the arena stands.
Tanzanite threw a flurry of rock shards at Lodite while Soladite threw an energy boomerang at Alexandrite.
While their opponents were reeling from those attacks, Soladite charged at Lodite and punched her first in the stomach and then in the jaw.
Tanzanite rushed Alexandrite and bore him to the ground. She straddled him and hit him several times before she made a long knife and put the edge against his windpipe.
Soladite took a cue from Tanzanite and created a sword and touched the tip of it just below Lodite’s jaw.
“Surrender,” Soladite said.
“This doesn’t prove you’re stronger,” Lodite growled through clenched teeth, moving her jaw as little as possible.
“It proves I’m better than you,” Soladite said. “Surrender.”
“Never!” Lodite declared, her eyes blazing.
“Then I am sorry to deprive the Queen of a general,” Soladite said, raising the sword blade for a killing stroke. “Even one so inept as you.”
“We yield!” Alexandrite shouted. “Lodite, I cannot let her kill you!”
“She doesn’t have the nerve,” Lodite said, emboldened now that the sword was no longer at her throat.
“You are mistaken,” Soladite said coldly. She tightened her grip on the sword, and brought it down with all her might.
The blade grazed the back of Lodite’s head and sheared off the majority of her abundant red hair that she wore tied back.
Soladite picked up the shorn ponytail with the tip of her sword and looked down at Lodite impassively.
“Oh, look,” she said in a detached tone of voice. “I missed.” She turned to Tanzanite and offered her the lock of hair. Then she turned back to Lodite, still on the ground of the arena. She sniffed at the air delicately, and then smiled down at her victim.
“Clean yourself and change your uniform,” she said contemptuously. “If word gets around, not even your own youma will obey you.” She stepped away from Lodite, banishing the sword, and offered an elbow to Tanzanite.
“Milady,” she said mockingly. “Would you favor me with dinner this eventide, and mayhap a dance?”
“I would be delighted, Milady,” Tanzanite said, smiling. She plunged the knife into the dirt next to Alexandrite’s head, lifted herself off of him, and put her hand into the crook of Soladite’s arm. The two of them walked away laughing, with Lodite’s hair still clutched in Tanzanite’s other hand.
