The next week or so went by without incident. The bevy was both relived and troubled by this occurrence. No monsters, demons, demon lords… hell, not even a dangerous animal and so much as crossed their path. Tasuki and Chichiri traveled in front of the little group, trying to sense any danger. Nothing.
“There should be some signs, right. I mean they didn’t all just disappear, right?” Tasuki asked with a worried looked on his face.
“This is bad, you know.” Chichiri said in a low voice. “Something bad is coming and it’s going to be big, you know”
“You think it’s because of-” Tasuki nodded is head towards Kaki. She was currently explaining something to one of the bandits who looked for all the world like a dog trying to solve a math problem.
“Probably, you know.” Chichiri said gravely. They neared the village of Kaho and decided to pick up some supplies for the next leg of their trip. More then a few of the villagers saw Tasuki and the other bandits and hid.
Kaki moved up to the Suzaku warriors, “looks like your reputation has preceded you.” She giggled a little at Tasuki’s expression.
“Miss Kaki, you should probably stay with us.” Ren called to the woman. She turned and moved back to walk between him and Shii. The three of them were about the same age and looked as though they could be related. ‘It’s kinda nice to have traveling companions.’ Kaki thought. Most of the time she’d been traveling, she traveled alone, worried about what would happen if someone were to find out she were a girl. But it didn’t matter to the bandits or the monk. Of course, the leader was a Suzaku warrior as was Chichiri and Tasuki probably told his guys to be nice. Kaki looked at Ren and Shii. Ren had short dusky hair and light brown eyes. It was obvious that he was new to being a bandit. Shii had more experience and it showed in his voice. His hair was a little long, falling just past his shoulders, even with it being pulled back and his dark chocolate eyes were dull from many years of living life’s hard lessons.
“Ya know, the boss… he had a thing for you.” Shii broke Kaki out of her thoughts.
“What?” she gazed her question at him.
“Yeah,” Ren spoke up, “the boss likes you a lot, you can tell.”
“He hates women, he said so himself.” Kaki shook her head.
“Yeah he does but only the ones that are mean to him. Like his mother and sisters.” Ren said the last part low so his boss wouldn’t hear.
“But he told me the his family died.” Kaki replied is the same low manner.
“They are dead… to him any way.” Shii now rejoined to low conversation. The three of them stood in a small circle talking like school children.
“You see, his father was pussy whipped and his mother and sisters are real bitches. He was the only boy and the youngest so he was mercilessly picked on by them.”
“Oh” Kaki looked at the man who was the topic of their conversation. He and Chichiri were standing next to a vender negotiating the price of some food item.
“I think… you have a thing for the boss too, Miss Kaki.” Shii smiled at the woman. She blushed and looked down.

“You want how much? It’s fish!” Tasuki gapped at the salesman. And people thought he was a thief
“That’s my price, pal, take it or leave it!” Tasuki still grumbling handed over 30 gold pieces for the 5 fish.
The salesman grinned, showing all his remaining teeth, and handed them to the bandit leader, “Pleasure doing business with you.” Chichiri and Tasuki headed to the rest of their group so they could go and cook their meal.
“This looks suspicious.” Tasuki said from behind Ren. The boy jumped and his eyes bugged out of his head.
“Boss, we finished here?” Shii changed the subject.
“Yeah, let’s go.” The bevy left the town to settle in the woods just outside. Kaki kept giving Tasuki sad glances. Lucky for her the bandit didn’t notice, or if he did, he didn’t say anything. ‘How can he even like stand to talk to women after that?’ As they moved through the crowd a person bumped into a Chichiri. The hood slipped off her head to reveal dark brown hair. She sheepishly looked up at the monk and he was captivated by her clear blue eyes.
“Pardon me,” she blushed and bowed slightly hiding her eyes behind the lace of her eye lashes.
Chichiri shook his head clear of all un-monkish thoughts, “It’s okay, you know.” He bowed in return and stepped around her. The exchange was not lost on Tasuki. Nor was the fact the Chichiri’s face held a slight flush.
“She was pretty, wasn’t she?” The fiery warrior crossed his arms over his chest.
“I don’t know what your talking about, you know.” The monk said a little too quickly.
Tasuki chuckled and clapped Chichiri on the back. “Riiiiight.” The two walked to the now roaring fire, the fish strung over it. Kaki glanced up from the weaving in her hands. She had found some long grass and, in order to pass the time, started working it into a cloth. The glance and blush from the young woman was not unnoticed by Chichiri. He leaned in close to Tasuki.
The monk nodded to Kaki, “She is pretty, isn’t she, you know.”
Tasuki glared at the older man. “You must be crazier than I thought.” The two sat down with everyone else. The bevy set to work eating the fish and discussing the next leg of their trip. Kaki got up to get a fresh jug of water when she was stopped by Shii.
“You should bring one of us along the make sure you’re okay, Miss Kaki.” He stood and grabbed his sward.
“Thank you,” she bowed slightly and continued to the stream with Shii in toe.
“So if the next part goes with out any problems then we should be able to make it to Mt Taikyoku in two or so weeks, you know.” Chichiri said happily.
“‘Or so’” Tasuki repeated.
“Well we did lose time when we were getting attacked everyday, you know.” Responded a much grimmer monk.
“Which reminds me, why do you think we haven’t been attacked in a while?” Ren asked.
“We think there might be something big happening, you know.”
“Yeah and Kaki has something to do with it.” Tasuki said between bites, “we need to make sure she stays out of harms way.”
“Umm…. Boss, where is she?” Ren looked around.
“I saw her and Shii go towards the stream with a water jug. They should be back soon.” One of the bandits, Reko, said.
Tasuki stood, “That dumb woman, doesn’t she know how dangerous it is.” Eh grumbled heading into the forest. This was bad. He could feel, something bad was going to happen and it would be the catalyst. The thing that would make this entire trip a failure or a success.
I have updated! {One person claps enthusiastically.} So let me know wht you think it goting to happen next {checks to make sure no one notices the ploy to get reviews}.
