Chapter 31 A Charming Lady

It is night but the guardian angels are not sleeping. The enemies can attack any time so they have to be alert. They have gotten new kimonos and everybody has put on underwear. It’s not so exciting to be without now after the incident at the lobby.
“I’ll go and patrol outside,” Negi says and disappears out the door. He walks down the stairs to the first floor but when he rounds a corner a maid with a trolley bumps hard into him. But she’s not a real maid; she was on the train also.

The door to the corridor opens and it’s Kaede, she lives in the next room. “I’ve heard some commotion here and you can borrow the toilet at our room.”

But Negi blocks it and it’s time for counterattack.

“Are you ready Asuna?” says Negi. “I’m going to use the contract cards.” He pronounces a short spell. “Receive your weapon Asuna.”

“I get a weapon? Wow, that’s cool.” And out of nothing it appears in her hands. “But…this is just a big fan.”

“It’s not an ordinary fan,” says Setsuna. “Use it as a sword.”

“Alright.” She runs towards the lady in the monkey costume with her fan-sword held over her head.

“She’s not afraid this one,” says Setsuna to Negi. “I think you have made a good choice of partner. What she lacks in fighting technique she catches up in courage. But she cannot do it alone. Protect us Negi while we do the attacking. I still have my sword.”

Setsuna runs towards the enemy who is not alone anymore. She has called two big demons that look like teddy bears.

“I can take them, you go for Konoka.”

But the lady has more tricks up her sleeve. A young girl appears, she’s from the Shinmei Ryuu just like Setsuna, and she is trained in the same techniques. It seems like Setsuna has found her equal and they fight back and forth like fencers.

They look into each other’s eyes for a second and then Setsuna puts Konoka down and runs away.
“What now?” says Asuna. “We got to get back to the hotel.”
“But you can’t go all naked Konoka,” says Negi. “Take my kimono.”
“No Negi-kun,” says Asuna. “It’s chilly, you will catch a cold. It’s better you take mine Konoka, I’m more warm-blooded than him.” She takes it off and reveals that she has nothing but panties underneath. Then they start to walk.
“It’s going to be a long walk,” says Asuna.
“Yeah, why are we…? Seems like I’m forgetting to think,” Negi says. “We can ride on my staff.”
“Is it approved for three persons?” says Asuna. “I can wait here while you and Konoka go and then you can come back for me.”

They sit up on the staff, Asuna still a little sceptical but everything goes fine and soon they land safely outside the hotel.
