DN Mpreg VI:
L spent most of the morning in the bathroom. These past few morning went along smoothly with very little vomiting and only the slight nausea, but something else caught L\'s attention. He was standing in the middle of the bathroom with his shirt off and looking at his reflection. Something wasn\'t quite right. He pinched a section of skin below his belly button where a flab of fat was starting to form. He had recently seen that he had gained two kilograms more than his usual weight. His metabolism was pretty high, but his diet hadn\'t changed, although Watari was giving him more nutritious food in every meal. Could that be the contributor to his sudden weight gain? He pinched the underside of his arm. Not much fat there. He usually did not care at how much he weighed, but the others have been telling him that there was something different about him, something they couldn\'t put their fingers on. He stared at his face in the mirror, seeing only his reflection--his high cheek bones, pointed chin, dark eyes, straight nose, pale skin--stared back at him. Nothing looked out of place, so what new things did the others see differently? Had they noticed his weight gain?
He had a plan for today, but the only way to make it work would be if he could make the others cooperate. Not so everyone, but Soichirou in specific. It would be hard to convince him, but it would be a sure way to get Light to confess, or for his suspicion percentage to drop.
When he situated himself back into his favorite chair and sat among the table with the television that showed each prisoner divided into sections, Matsuda, Mogi, and Aizawa arrived shortly after. They greeted L with the usual "Good morning. How are you? Sleep well?" and went about their usual let\'s-catch-Kira day.
L pressed the button for the microphone on Soichirou\'s line. "Are you okay, Yagami-san?" he asked, with actual concern since the older man didn\'t look too healthy at the moment; it would cause too much trouble if the chief were to die while he was imprisoned by his own will. "There is no reason for you to be keep doing this."
Soichirou inhaled deeply through his nose and exhaled out his mouth, as if it were the only way to keep him from having a crazy rampage. "It\'s been a month now since criminals started getting murdered again," the chief replied, "I have concluded that my son is not Kira. Now, Ryuuzaki, you only have to attest to it. When I get out of here, it will be with my son."
L didn\'t say anything and only chewed on the inside of his lip. Behind him, he heard Matsuda mutter something to Aizawa about one of them being stubborn. Instead, he opted to ignore them and click the button for Light\'s room.
"Light-kun," he spoke," Are you all right?"
Light was currently laying on his side on the floor. He didn\'t lift himself up when he heard L like he used to. He was too tired to attempt such an act when he knew it would be worthless. "Yeah," he muttered, "I\'m all right, but...Ryuuzaki, the criminals have stopped dying since I\'ve been detained." He flipped his hair out of his eyes, but not all the strands moved. "From this, I think there\'s a high possibility that Kira is someone who is aware of my current situation. With that angle..."
"No," L interrupted, "Criminals haven\'t died because you are Kira."
"That\'s wrong!" Light raised his voice, "I\'m not Kira! How many times do I have to tell you?"
But L was only half listening. He hadn\'t told Light that the criminals had begun dying again, because he wanted to see how much Light knew. \'If he were Kira, then he should\'ve known that the murders would start again,\' L thought, nibbling on his pad of this thumb, \'It doesn\'t look like it, though...\'
Aizawa muttered something to Matsuda about L\'s methods, but L didn\'t care. He was too busy watching his suspects. His patience was wearing thin. Watari and the others had made it very clear that he could not keep them imprisoned too long, even if Soichirou was doing it of his will. L knew very well that he was kidnapping them by the book of law, and that was very illegal, but he kept pushing the limit. He had to keep them on their last limb, to make them think there\'s nothing left and finally confess to the murders. He knew that it was unlawful, but this was the most deadly murderer they were dealing with. However, he didn\'t expect the two suspects to last this long. He especially didn\'t count on the murders to start again. Now he didn\'t have enough to lean on to keep Light Yagami and Misa Amane in their cells. He had never been so lost on a case before. He had his theories, but without physical evidence, what else was there?
L pressed another button for Misa\'s cell. "Amane," he called out.
Misa\'s head was bent forward and she didn\'t look to well. Her blond hair covered her face and she made no move to remove it. "...Yes?" she groaned, barely audible.
"You look down," L said, "Are you okay?"
She kept her head down, not bothering to look up at the camera. "You\'re stupid, aren\'t you," she replied in a monotone voice, "If I didn\'t look unhappy after several weeks of this, then I\'d be insane."
"Yes, you\'re right."
"Let me go all ready, Mr Stalker," Misa said, her voice cracking as if she was going to cry, which most likely she was about to, "I want to see Light...Light..."
"All three of them seem to be at their breaking points," Matsuda said aloud.
L remained watching them, dropping a few cubes of sugar into his tea.
"Ryuuzaki," Aizawa said. L didn\'t turn his head to look at him, but he shifted his eyes to look in his general direction. "Why are you keeping Light-kun captive?" he asked, "He should be freed. By doing that, the chief will also come out. I mean, criminals have been getting murdered without those two getting any information. That should tell us enough."
"No." L answered flatly, "Amane-san obsessive love toward Light Yagami is all we\'ve found out."
Aizawa and L conversed in a heated argument about whether or not he should release them. Aizawa told him that there was no evidence of Light being Kira, and that it was L himself that made Light start having false beliefs that he was Kira because of all the harassment L had put on him. He made it very aware that the longer he kept Light and Misa, the more he was breaking the law himself. The argument was making his head hurt. He pinched his nose, but that did very little to help.
"If more evidence does not arise against Light-kun or Amane-san," L said, closing his eyes, "Then I will let them go."
Aizawa and Matsuda both looked at each other, amazed that L actually listened to them. Then they nodded their heads in agreement.
L stopped himself from releasing a sigh and excused himself to the restroom. After he was done completing his business, he splashed cold water on his face. This was very frustrating. For the first time that he could remember, L was at his wits end. He knew this case would be the hardest he had ever done, the first case that may result in his demise. Yet, he had them...almost. His brain felt like it was thumping against the sides of his cranium. He wasn\'t one to take medicine, but if this migraine persisted, he was willing to take the whole bottle. He opened the medicine cabinet and looked around for anything to cure a headache. When he didn\'t find anything, he took out his cell phone and dialled Watari\'s number.
"Yes?" Watari answered, knowing who it was.
"I need you to bring me something for my headache."
"Would you like Tylenol or Aleve?"
"I don\'t know the difference."
"How bad is your headache?"
"Enough that I\'m asking for medication."
"I\'ll be there in just a minute."
The older man hung up, and L shoved his own phone in the back of his back pocket. He rubbed his temples with two fingers when he heard a knock on the bathroom door.
"Come in," L said, wiping his face on a towel.
Watari opened the door, carrying a glass of water and two pills. "Here." L took the little capsules and gulped them down with water. "I heard that you promised the others that you would release Light-kun and Misa-san in a few days."
"I will release them, but that still means they are my suspects." L put the glass on the counter, "I have an idea. It involves Yagami-san. It will be risky for him to do, but for his son, I\'m sure he will do it."
Watari frowned. "L, be careful on what you do. You\'re pushing the limit enough as it is, and you have stepped over the line one too many times already."
"I\'m doing this only to catch Kira."
"Have you ever thought, L, that you may be wrong about Light-kun?"
"I thought that if there was anyone I could count on," L said, leaning against the counter with his hands stuffed in his pockets, "I assumed it would be you, Watari. Have I ever been wrong in suspecting someone?"
"There\'s always a first for everything."

"Yagami-san."
The scrabbled voice of L echoed against the cell walls. Soichirou did not bother to lift his head up. His beard was unshaven, his hair a mess and longer than usual, and his cheeks were sunken in more than usual. "What is it?" he grumbled.
"There is something I need to tell you in person. Can you come back to the department right away? I want you to hear my decision on this case, starting with you, Light\'s father. I am ready to release him."
So Soichirou agreed. He met with L alone in one of the rooms, and they talked over tea. L told him of his plan, and as he first suspected, Soichirou was shocked. He at first denied to take any part in such a scheme, but when he was told that it was a sure way to test whether or not Light was innocent, Soichirou cave and agreed to take part.
Three Days Later...
Soichirou\'s appearance had returned back to normal. His hair was cut and gelled back, his beard was shaved off, leaving just his mustache, and he was driving a car. In the back-seat was a pretty young woman with her hands cuffed behind her back by the name of Amane Misa.
"I didn\'t really think Stalker-san would be a guy this old," Misa said aloud, not bothering with manners, "So...you\'re finally letting me go?"
"I\'m not a stalker, I\'m a detective," Soichirou replied, keeping his voice monotone and deep. He continued to drive until they reached a garage in a secluded spot that Misa had never been to. Before them, Mogi stood with Light.
"Light!" Misa exclaimed, "I missed you so much!" she squealed with delight as he was made to get into the car. She moved over closer to him.
"Dad what\'s going on?" Light asked his dad once they were all inside the vehicle. Misa gave a dim witted remark about her calling Light\'s dad a stalker. "Are we finally being cleared and released?"
"No..." there was an awkward pause. "You are to be... executed."
"What?"
"An underground facility has been set up, and I am to take you there so you can be executed in secret. I volunteered to take you there." Soichirou replied with a sad tone in his voice.
"You\'re kidding, right?" Misa said nervously.
"What are you talking about, Dad? Execution?" Light questioned his dad; was L really going to kill him?
"L had concluded that Light Yagami is Kira and Misa Amane is the second Kira. He has declared that by executing you the killings would stop."
"But... but wait, Dad, didn\'t the killings stop while I was imprisoned?" Panic began to kick into Light\'s voice. He didn\'t know anything about being Kira, yet here was his dad telling him the world\'s greatest detective had decided he was Kira.
"No, Light, they continued." The colour drained from Light\'s face as he heard this. Had he been killing without knowing?
"That\'s not what I was told."
"L was probably keeping it from you to ensure a clean confession." Light closed his eyes for a moment and breathed trying to clean his head. His father continued. "L has promised the police and the government that with your execution the killings will stop. Kira will be executed in secret."
"No way, Dad! I\'m not Kira!"
"What are you thinking?! He\'s your own son!" Misa cried out.
"L has never been wrong. He has helped the police solve numerous cases all of the world." Another pause that seemed to last forever before Soichiro spoke again. "L has even declared that if he is wrong he will take responsibility and take his own life."
"That\'s insane Dad. Who do you believe me or L? I\'m your own son damn it!" Soichiro shook his head. Light could not believe it. His own father... "Please Dad, I know it seems like all evidence points to me but I\'m telling you I\'m not Kira. This isn\'t like L; he has always solved cases with hard evidence. Something is wrong." Light\'s pleading was promptly ignored.
"We\'re here." The car came to a halt under a bridge.
"Are you letting us escape, Mr Yagami?" Misa asked hopefully.
"No... I\'ve brought you here instead of the execution ground where nobody can see us..." His head was bent forward and his face covered by shadows. "I\'m going to kill you right here and then kill myself."
"Wait, you\'re crazy!" Misa screamed at him.
"You can\'t be serious! What are you saying, Dad? Are you really going to kill your own son!" Light\'s voice rose to a high panic; this was it, he would die by his father\'s hand with the whole world thinking he was Kira.
"Can\'t you see what you\'re doing is no different from Kira?" Misa screeched with tears now forming in her eyes. "Your child is Kira so you\'re going to kill him and yourself? If you want to die then die by yourself!"
Soichiro turned to her. A dark look came across his face. "I am different from Kira. I have the responsibility of being Light\'s father as well as the chief of police."
"You\'re insane!"
"Dad, Misa is right." For once, he thought. "If you kill us right now, you\'ll never learn the truth. If you let me run, I can help, the truth will be uncovered."
"It\'s too late, Light." His hand reached into his jacket and pulled out a gun "The decision has been made for me, and I much rather you die by my hand."
"No Dad, stop! There are no witnesses here. If me and Misa are Kiras, then there\'s no way we would let you kill us!"
"Shut up, Light!" There was the click of the safety being loosened and the gun was pointed at Light\'s head. There was nothing he could do. His own father was going to kill him. All he could do was close his eyes and just wait for the sudden moment when it would all be over. At least he wouldn\'t feel a thing having his brains blasted out. The feeling that washed over him was indescribable. He felt alone. Only a gun pointed at his head kept him company.
\'I\'m...going to die?\'
"We\'re both murderers. I\'ll see you in hell, Light."
\'I am going to die!\' He tightly shut his eyes, not wanting to see his father\'s face or the bullet that would soon rip through his skull and splatter the back window in brain matter.
"NOOOOOOOO" Misa was now frozen in fear. Seconds went by slowing and it seemed as if time had stood still.
BANG!
\'I\'m dead. I\'mdeadI\'mdeadI\'mdeadI\'mdeadI\'mdead.\'
Nothing, emptiness followed. Was he dead now? He was still breathing but everything was dark. Then he could still feel the cool metal of the gun pressed against his forehead. Slowly, Light opened his eyes. He saw his father and the gun still pointed at him.
"A blank!?" he exclaimed. His heart was racing, and he felt very much alive.
"Oh thank God." Soichiro said, lowering the gun.
"Wha...what\'s going on, Dad? What do you mean \'thank God\'?" Light was feeling incredibly confused now. His father was about to kill him and then suddenly it was a blank?
"I\'m sorry, Light. I had to do this to end your confinement." He suddenly seemed to age ten years before them. His voice was small, feeble sounding. "Forgive me, and try to understand that I did this because I truly believed you weren\'t Kira."
"Mr. Yagami?"
"Did you see, Ryuuzaki?" he spoke but directed his voice at nowhere. "I did as you asked me and I\'m still alive." Light\'s jaw dropped and his mouth hung open.
From the hotel room, L, along with the rest of the team, was eagerly watching what was going on in the vehicle in front of them. Like he was watching the latest action movie, L was casually sitting in his chair with a cup of coffee. He added some more sugar and gave it a gentle stir before answering.
"Yes, Yagami-san, you did well," the usual computer voice of L could be heard, "Excellent acting and Light was right. If he really was Kira, then he\'d stop at nothing to stay alive even if it meant killing his own father. It is possible that Light-kun as Kira might have figured out at some point this was an act, but like I promised I will end their confinement. Amane Misa will be put under surveillance as there is still some evidence connecting her to the second Kira, even though she claims they were for an occult TV show."
Misa looked angrily at the screen in front of her. "You still suspect me?"
L ignored her protests and continued. "As for you, Light, as promised I will arrange for you and I to work on the Kira case 24 hours a day."
Light\'s face lit up. A new ray of hope began to shine. Perhaps this was it. He could work with L and prove he wasn\'t Kira. What L did was indeed radical, but could he be blamed? He was suspected as being Kira, even confessed to probably being so, and Kira was a terrorist. Could he blame L for taking it to this extreme? At least he passed the test. "Let\'s catch Kira together, Ryuuzaki," he smiled.
"Yes, I am pleased to be working with you."
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
On arrival at the hotel room, L stood before him with a chain and attached it to Light\'s wrist.
"Isn\'t this a bit excessive, Ryuuzaki?" Light asked seeing the other end of the chain was attached to L.
"I\'m not doing this because I want to. I\'m doing this for the case," L replied.
"Ooh, so that\'s what you meant about being 24/7 together?" Misa observed the chain between them. A lot more protest from Misa followed, and it was finally Mogi who snapped and shooed her out the room kicking and screaming about Light being hers. Light gave a sigh with relief, he was finally rid of her. It was starting to really annoy him the way she kept clinging to him, which L probably sensed due to his next question.
"Light-kun, are you serious about Amane?"
Light ran his fingers through his hair with the hand that did not have the chain on it. "I told you before, it\'s all one sided."
"Then could you do something for me?" L asked, "Could you pretend to be serious with her to gain information on the second Kira?"
Light gave him a puzzled and uncertain look. "Ryuuzaki, you\'re asking me to play with another person\'s feelings. I refuse to do it." L stared at Light. It really did seem as if his personality had changed. Had Kira been controlling him and Misa too? "There\'s something else I\'d like to ask. Could we do something about this constant hotel swapping?"
L smiled and was glad Light had asked that question. He dragged Light over to his laptop and presented the new investigation building. While he explained in detail of his building he could help but see Light\'s eyes linger over to his stomach. He tugged his shirt to try to cover up the slight bloated-ness of his stomach.
"L," Light suddenly said, still leaning over the detective\'s shoulder, "Can I say something?"
"Of course, Light-kun." He lifted his head to look at him and was surprised that the younger man was not looking at the screen, but was looking at him. L blinked a few times. "Is something wrong?"
Light shook his head, still staring at L. "You look...different."
"Different?" L repeated, his thumb balanced on his bottom lip, "How so?"
"Well, I mean...you look the same," he seemed to struggle to find the right words, "But...you also...well, you look different."
"How do I look different? I\'m wearing the same clothes as always."
"I know, but you don\'t look as pale like I remember you being. It\'s almost as if you\'re..."
"Glowing?" L interjected.
The brunet nodded. "Yeah, like you\'re glowing. And your eyes."
"My eyes?"
"Yeah, they look..."
He stared into those depth-less orbs. They were also shining like a black gem recovered from a dark, dank mine. He could see his own reflection in those eyes. They were the eyes he saw when they were in the throngs of ecstasy. He had missed those eyes. Those beautiful eyes that only Light saw.
Inch by inch they came closer. L felt his heart race in his chest as Light\'s musky scent filled his nostrils. It made him hungry for him, like when one smelled cookies baking in the oven. When Light\'s lips touched his own, his breathing stopped. He exhaled when Light pressed their lips harder together. The kiss grew more hungry. Light devoured L\'s lips, and somehow managed to suck out L\'s tongue into his own mouth. His eyes were closed, but he felt Light\'s hand grab his head and pull them closer together.
They heard the door knob turn and when Mogi stuck his head inside, he saw L and Light looking at the laptop and a good distance apart. One would never suspect they were just having a heated make out session, but just in case, Light leaned his cheek against his fist in case his lips were red or swollen.
L looked up. "Yes Mogi?"
"I wanted to let you know that Misa said she would return later," he said.
L nodded. "It\'s noted."
Mogi gave a nod and shut the door. L looked at Light. "You\'re blushing," he noted.
"No, I\'m not."
"Now you\'re lying. Three percent."
Light gave a smile at L\'s remark just glad to be together again and working on the Kira case.
