Chapter Six
Black eyes focused on crimson eyes, watching as the woman’s body swayed slightly left and right. The air was thick with anticipation as the two slipped around each other and watched the other’s movements with great caution. Danger, the air around them seemed to scream but no one moved to pull either one from the danger.
The two were the source of the danger.
Wolfram felt his heart race frantically against his chest as he watched his fiancé and future sister-in-law watch each other with almost empty eyes. They had been walking around each other for almost three minutes now after spending almost five minutes charging at each other and hitting each other with their bodies. Magic and weapons weren’t allowed in this fight and neither were their arms, legs, or even their heads. They had to use pure brute strength against each other and it seemed to be evenly matched.
He flinched when the two ran into each other again, their breaths coming out labored as their bodies grew tired. Why they were even playing this stupid game was beyond him since he supposed they had started sometime early in the morning. When they stopped he knew that somebody would ask and one of the siblings would answer if the other wasn’t sure.
Even though she had been living at the castle for two weeks now and he was growing accustomed to how physical she got when feeling any particular emotion, it was still hard to watch her and Yuri play such a physical game.
Laughter moved through the air as the two struck each other and fell onto the ground, their chests bouncing as they laughed and gasped for air. “Okay, so what’d you see?” Yuri questioned when their laughter settled down.
Jaela merely smiled innocently at her brother before pointing a finger behind him. A soft confused sound left Yuri’s lips as he looked behind him and saw the nobles watching with varying degrees of entertainment and disapproval on their faces. “Jaela!” Yuri protested as he pulled his sister to her feet. “You could have told me that this morning!”
“Yeah, but we broke our record. We went at it about five hours straight this time.”
Five… hours? They had been running into each other for five hours straight and didn’t even have common sense enough to stop for any amount of time?! Wolfram groaned as the two came over to the group with grins on their faces. While Yuri looked somewhat embarrassed, Jaela looked completely amused. “Your brother is the Maoh, Jaela!” Wolfram scolded. “You can’t have him doing such reckless acts with you!”
Jaela smiled a bit before questioning, “You offering to play then, Wolf?”
“No!” Only someone that was insane would willingly play that game with her or if someone was willing to prove that they were tough. Rumor had it that Gisela was enlisting the woman’s help when it came to making the soldiers stand their ground. If that rumor was true or not, he couldn’t be certain, but from the amount of energy she seemed to possess now, the rumor was true.
“Have fun.” Jaela said before kissing her brother’s cheek. “I’m gonna go check something out.”
“Hold on a minute, Jaela.” Gwendal said calmly. “You need to come with us too.”
The woman frowned slightly as her eyes grew unfocused, her breath catching in her throat. “Not while he’s around. Fuck no.” Jaela said jabbing a finger at Stoffel. “The first bastard that even thinks about making me look at anything can just kiss my ass.”
“No one’s going to make you look at anything.” Gunter said in an attempt to soothe the crimson eyed woman.
Jaela snorted before answering, “Then why am I hearing, ‘Show the Maoh what you see.’ in my head?”
Yuri was silent as he wrapped his arms around his sister’s waist and lightly kissed her jaw. If Wolfram wasn’t growing familiar with the things that the two did to soothe the other, he’d have been accusing Yuri of cheating on him. “An echo?” Yuri questioned softly. “You’ve been getting more of those since you arrived here so maybe it’s just another echo. You used to get them around me when we were kids, remember?”
Doubt showed in the woman’s crimson eyes as she answered quietly, “I don’t know. I don’t want to see, brother, I really don’t. If I saw the same things that he did… I’d go nuts and we both know that I can’t afford to give up even the slightest bit of my sanity.”
“Then don’t look. If you do, then you don’t tell what you saw unless it directly affects somebody.”
“Is that your orders as my brother or as Maoh?”
“As your brother.”
The woman nodded slightly and twisted her head slightly so she could kiss her brother’s neck. “Aishiteru,” she said with a pleased look.
None of them knew what that meant but from the look on Yuri’s face it was something that he very rarely heard from her. “You too.” Yuri answered with a smile as he let her go. “Are you ready?”
Casting a wary glance at the nobles, Jaela nodded slightly before asking her brother a question, confusion showing in her eyes. Yuri looked thoughtful for a moment before answering in the same language with an entertained look in his eyes. The woman looked at Lord von Wincott for a moment before looking back at Yuri with a raised eyebrow. “What’s going on?” Lord von Wincott questioned softly to Gwendal.
“Whenever she has a question that she doesn’t want others to hear, Jaela will often times ask Yuri in one of Earth’s languages.” Gwendal explained. “She’s usually careful not to ask anything around Conrart but if she does, then she’ll use some kind of gibberish.”
“It’s not gibberish!” Jaela protested breaking away from her conversation with Yuri to glare half-heartedly at Gwendal. “Gibberish is what I hear when I’m half asleep and I hear someone talking outside of my bedroom door.”
“And as you can all see, she pays attention to what is said around her.” Gwendal answered. “Just remember to be civilized.”
“The hell’s that?”
“That thing that your father didn’t know about.” Yuri whispered in her ear, making sure to speak to her solely in Japanese. “Behave or I’m telling Mom that you’re here and I’ll bring her here so she can put you in dresses.”
Jaela’s face paled slightly before she grinned a bit. “I’m sure you’re all very busy so why don’t we get started so you can get back to whatever it was you dropped.” Jaela said quickly as she pushed past everybody.
The group looked at the young Moah before Wolfram asked, “What’d you tell her?”
“That she’d look pretty in a dress.”
