Yutaka awoke to the sound of his cellphone going off. He groped around with his eyes still closed until he found the phone. He then hesitantly opened his eyes, once he did they stung with the morning light. His eyes slowly focused on the phone’s screen. ‘Be over soon.’ Yutaka closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again to reread the text. Yutaka’s mind trudged along slowly due to his slight hangover and having just woken up. Yutaka couldn’t figure out why his boyfriend was coming over so early on the day after Christmas, after all it was only…..One O’clock pm!!!!! “SHIT!” Yutaka cursed as he rolled out of bed, he quickly made his way to the bathroom to take a shower.
After a shower Yutaka felt refreshed and awake, as well that his mind could now comprehend some things without shutting down. Yutaka moved into the kitchen and began scarfing down a bowl of cereal when he heard a knock on the door. He got up and went to the door and unlocked it. He opened the door, letting his boyfriend in. Instead of coming in however, Koushiro stood in the doorway gawking at sight of Yutaka wearing nothing but a towel.
Yutaka in return gave Koushiro a confused look, that is until he realized why he was being gawked at. He then pulled the bi-color haired beauty into the apartment. Koushiro still gazed at the bare body in front of him, “I’m beginning to wonder if you just wander around here half naked all the time.”
“You speak as if it were a bad thing.” Yutaka said, “I was just getting out the shower and was on my way to get dressed. You’re free to come along and watch if you wisb.” Yutaka then gave Koushiro a smirk before turning around and walking down the short hall, making sure to sway his hips as he went.
As Yutaka entered his bedroom he took the towel off he could hear footsteps behind him. “So how was your Christmas?” Yutaka asked.
“Prodigious to say the least. We woke up early and opened up our gifts. My parents got me some new hardware for my gaming computer, so along with the gift you got me I’m back to having a state of the art computer.” Koushiro answered, “How was yours?”
Yutaka who was now half way dressed stopped. “Much like all the others. I got to talk with my parents and my Grandma for bit.” Yutaka paused...“and my Grandfather stopped by. I hadn’t seen him in a few years.”
“That’s great. That’s one thing this time of year is about anyways. Catching up with family and other loved ones you don’t get to see that often.” Koushiro responed.
Yutaka let out a quiet humph at the comment and continued getting dressed. Once he was fully dressed, they moved their conversation into the living room and in front of the tv, ready to see who had the best gaming skills that day. It was after the fifth dominant victory that Yutaka knew something was distracting his boyfriend, “Something on your mind? You’re playing worse than Akira.”
Koushiro smirked at the comment. Akira wasn’t the best gamer in the world but he made up for it with a never say die attitude. “It deals with my parents.”
Yutaka looked away from the screen, “Have you talked with them yet?”
Koushiro nodded, “I did.”
Yutaka was concered, usually when someone was that distracted afterwards it meant that the news wasn’t received that well, “And how did they take it? Any problems?”
This time Koushiro shook his head, “Everything went great. They took it all very well just like you said they would.”
Yutaka’s eyebrow rose in confusion, “Then what’s the problem?”
“They want to meet you?” Koushiro answered.
“I don’t think that’s a problem. If anything it shows that they really accepted it, and are treating this relationship as they should.” Yutaka saw that the concerned look was still on his boyfriend’s face. “Does them meeting me bother you? Because if it does, I can make some excuse to why I can’t meet them yet.” asked Yutaka.
“No, it doesn’t bother me. I’m just nervous.” Explained Koushiro.
“There’s no need to worry and get worked up over it. I’ve met almost all of my friend’s parents and many of my partner’s parents.” Koushiro said trying to calm his boyfriend, “I’m like Trident, four out of five parents prefer Yutaka.”
“An eighty percent success rate?” Koushiro quipped. “That’s supposed to make me feel better?”
Yutaka couldn’t help but point out, “Hey, that’s a B-. Thank you very much.”
“I guess.” Koushiro muttered.
“When do they want to meet?” Yutaka asked.
Koushiro shook his head, “They didn’t want to set a date since they didn’t know what your schedule would be like. They don’t want to interfere with any possible band practices or the like.”
“We’re not getting back for a bit. Akira and his family have gone to the country, where he undoubtedly is trying to sow his wild oats. Yamato’s probably is bunkered down with his brother and Takashi I’m sure is probably doing something like a traveling family band.” Yutaka explained.
Noticing a pattern, Koushiro asked “So why aren’t you spending this break with your family.”
“Oh well...my family doesn’t really have time to go and do much.” Yutaka explained, he then gave his boyfriend a sly grin, “Besides, I’d rather spend my time with you. You and I have a lot more…fun.” He then winked at Koushiro who started to blush slightly. Yutaka then gave his boyfriend a light kiss on the lips, opening up the possibilities for the rest of the day.
It was only a couple days before New Years Eve and Yutaka laid on the couch watching the stressed figure in the chair clenching the cup of tea. Yutaka couldn’t help but give a smirk at the sight to help relieve some tension in the air, after all he had never seen Koushiro so stressed before. “Ease up there, that’s my favorite mug you have there.”
Koushiro looked down at the mug, “This is my mug, I brought it here.”
“I know, that’s why it’s my favorite one.” Yutaka explained, a twinkle in his eye.
Koushiro rolled his eyes, “Could you please get your mind back on topic?”
“I could, but I enjoy watching you stress. It’s kinda cute.” Said Yutaka.
“I fail to see how my stressing out could be considered cute. I’m on the verge of a mental break down over here and you’re just laying there like everything is perfectly fine.” Koushiro squeaked out.
Yutaka’s left eyebrow perked up, “Well isn’t it?”
“Of course it isn’t. You’re meeting my parents in a couple days and then having dinner with them.” Koushiro answered, the stress in his voice was clear.
“Gee, I didn’t know that that was one of the signs of the apocalypse.” Yutaka said with another smirk.
“There you go again, making jokes. Don’t you see this is serious to me?” Koushiro asked.
“There you go taking this too seriously again. Don’t you see this isn’t the end of the world?” retorted Yutaka.
Koushiro shot a look at his boyfriend, who twisted and curled, gasped and moaned and finally laid still, his mouth hung open and his eyes rolled into the back of his head.
Koushiro gave a slight chuckle and Yutaka’s foot gave a slight death twitch. Koushiro’s laugh grew a little louder. Yutaka slowly sat up, his face empty of emotion. Koushiro’s laugh quieted as he tried to stop himself.
“Brains…”Yutaka groaned, “…Brains…”
Koushiro’s laughter erupted loudly, filling the apartment.
“Brains!” Yutaka groaned again standing up, slowly stumbling over to his ‘meal’.
“Stop.” Koushiro gasped out between laughs.
“BRAINS!” Yutaka groaned out loudly as he grabbed his boyfriend.
Koushiro continued to laugh, now while he was trying to free himself.
Yutaka leaned down to the side of Koushiro’s ear, his warm breath hitting Koushiro’s neck sending chills up and down it. Yutaka got even closer and whispered in a very seductive tone, “…brains…” He then licked Koushiro’s ear, getting a gasp and a pleasurable moan.
Koushiro turned his head to face his ‘attacker’, and Yutaka took that moment to strike. His lips met his boyfriend’s and their tongues met and began grappling with each other. Koushiro’s quickly took over sending Yutaka’s back into his mouth with Koushiro’s soon gave chase. And at that moment Yutaka knew he had succeeded, he had gotten his boyfriend’s mind off of the stress and as well as a way to release the stress that he had built up.
The next day found the couple only a day before the dinner with Koushiro’s parents. With only being a day away from the dinner Koushio’s stress was at new extremes. He had in front of him his laptop as well as a notebook filled with notes for the dinner of various levels of legibility and relevance.
Yutaka watched as his boyfriend hurriedly typed various things into his computer, a frantic gleam in his eyes. “Dare I ask what you’ve been up to for the past few hours?”
“I’m working on a project.” Koushiro answered shortly.
Yutaka rolled his eyes, “I see that. What kind of project?”
“I’m running numbers and simulations.” Koushiro answered.
“I’m not even going to ask if it’s about what I think it is.” Yutaka responded.
Koushiro said simply, “Good.”
Yutaka leaned forward and looked at the screen, “KOUSHIRO!” Yutaka cried out. “I can’t believe it. You really are!” Yutaka’s mouth hung open for a brief moment. He then reached over to the laptop and closed it, Koushiro barely able to remove his hands in time. “Don’t worry about anything. It will work out. Now I think you should go home. Get some rest, and tomorrow spend the day with your parents. Help your mother out with the cooking as much as you can. But most of all, turn that little noggin of yours off for the night and get a good night’s rest. You’re only making the stress worse by doing this.”
Koushiro looked up at his boyfriend, “I can’t turn my mind off so it thinks of everything that could go wrong. So even though I know that most of the possibilities in my mind have microscopically slim chances of happening, I still can’t help but get worked up over it.”
Yutaka kissed the forehead in front of him, “You can believe me that it will all be okay. I promise.”
Koushiro gave a smile, “Are you sure?”
“Would I lie to you?” Yutaka asked.
Koushiro’s smile grew, “No.”
Yutaka this time gave him a kiss on the lips. They’re lips stayed together briefly before they parted. “Now go run along. And tell your mother not to worry about dessert, I’ll bring something.”
Koushiro raised an eyebrow.
“Believe it or not I can cook.” Yutaka said. He then gave Koushiro’s cheek a playful pat. “Now go start putting your parents in a good mood.”
Koushiro gave his boyfriend a quick peck on the lips before gathering this things and leaving.
The next night came, the hour of the meeting was at hand. Yutaka stood in front of the door a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of saké and a chocolate cake in his hands. Yutaka juggled the items around in order to knock on the door. A moment passed and the door opened. Koushiro gave his boyfriend a large smile. “Glad you made it.” Koushiro reached and took the cake. “This looks delicious. Hope you didn’t spend all day on it.”
With a serious expression on his face Yutaka asked, “So you remember when I said that I could cook?”
The smile shrunk on Koushiro’s face. “Right you said you could. And now you’re sounding like you actually can’t. You bought this from a store on your way here didn’t you?”
“No. No. It’s homemade…..I just didn’t make it myself.” Yutaka answered.
“Dare I ask who made it?” Koushiro asked.
Yutaka tried hiding a grin from his face, “Mimi.”
“Mimi…What did it cost you?”
“Remember that picture of us from the other night? The one that you said if I showed anyone you’d never talk to me again?” Yutaka answered back.
The smile was now clearly wiped off of Koushiro’s face, he growled out “Yutaka.”
“What I’m kidding, she made it for free. I just had to buy all the ingredients.”
Koushiro’s eyebrow raised, “I doubt that Yutaka.”
“It’s true, I didn’t have to pay her any money…just my soul. That’s all. Don’t worry. Be happy, tonight is going to go smoothly.” Yutaka then gave his boyfriend a quick peck on the cheek.
They entered the apartment and introductions were made. Yutaka gave the gifts to Koushiro’s parents and the conversations began. After a while of talking and getting to know each other it was time to eat. The meal and drink were dispersed, adding to the already pleasant atmosphere. The joy grew and everything was going as Koushiro had hoped. The dinner eventually wound down and Yutaka had offered to help Mrs. Izumi with cleaning up and preparing the dessert.
“Thanking you helping me Yutaka. You’re such a gentleman.” Mrs. Izumi said with a smile.
“It’s my pleasure. I’m glad I could be of help.” Yutaka said placing plates into the sink.
While they moved about in the kitchen getting ready to dish up the cake, Mrs. Izumi asked, “Yutaka, I hope you don’t mind me asking but what do your parents do?”
Yutaka paused for only the briefest of seconds before answering, “They’re self employed.”
Mrs. Izumi’s smile which was already impossibly large, seemed to grow larger. “That’s great. I always wanted to try that. In fact back in High School my girlfriends and I…” Mrs. Izumi then began to ramble on about how when she was a younger lady that she wanted to start her own clothing store.
It was a while later Mrs. Izumi was still talking away when her son came into the room. “Dad sent me in to see if you two needed help.”
“Oh sorry Dear, Yutaka and I got to talking and I guess we just lost track of time.” They had just finished putting the small slices of the rich chocolaty cake onto the plates. “Here Yutaka, would you mind taking these first slices out to Mr. Izumi.” Yutaka nodded and did as he was told leaving the kitchen.
Koushiro looked at his mother, “So what do you think of him Mom?”
“Oh he’s great. I couldn’t think of anyone better for my perfect little boy.” Mrs. Izumi said with a smile.
Koushiro let out a sigh of relief, “Dad likes him too. I’m glad that you both like him.”
“Koushiro may I ask you some questions?” Mrs. Izumi asked handing her son a plate.
“Sure Mom, I don’t mind.”
“And I only ask this because I’m your mother. Have you two held hands yet?”
“Yes Mom.” Koushiro responded, fighting the urge to roll his eyes at the simplicity of the question.
“And hugged?”
“Yes.”
“How about kissed?”
“Mom we’re a couple, we do all the things a normal couple does.” Koushiro said.
Mrs. Izumi paused a moment. “Even having sex?”
Even from outside the kitchen and inside the dining room you could still hear Koushiro cry out. Yutaka looked at the kitchen door and then at Mr. Izumi. Mr. Izumi just sighed, “Oh dear…I told her not to ask him that question…”
Hours passed and the young couple were had left the Izumi’s family apartment and now were out in the crowded streets in front of a temple. “Well I have to say that tonight went pretty well.” Yutaka said, holding his boyfriend close to him.
“It certainly won’t escape my mind anytime soon.” Koushiro responded.
The bells within the temple began to ring out, signaling to the crowd outside that the New Year had begun. Yutaka pulled Koushiro close, their lips met and Koushiro found that his previous statement had been in fact been false. The feeling of Yutaka’s warm lips upon his own emptied his mind, the only thing he could now focus on were keeping those smooth loving lips upon his own. The kiss broke, but their eyes had now met they stared into each other eyes, finding happiness and pleasure in this simple task.
“What a great thing. I can’t think of a better activity to start the year off than the year’s first kiss.” Yutaka said.
Koushiro smiled, then pulled his boyfriend close to have their second kiss of the year.
