Chap 6 Ground Warfare
"Brock!" Ash called, and the boy groaned. "What did you do to him?" Ash snapped, and Chorus laughed.
"Oh after kicking the crap out of his Pokémon, my Pokémon still wanted some action, so they took out their frustration on fighting weak Pokémon on the trainer." Chorus said and Ash felt his anger reach his boiling point. His emotions tapped into his power, and by using Psychic he brought Brock's Pokémon over to them. Then in a flash Ash used teleport and appeared next to Brock, he touched him and teleported away, taking Brock with him.
"We need to get to the Pokémon center." Ash said, snapping James out of his stupor that Ash had just used psychic abilities.
"You're not gonna escape, Cubone get them!" Cubone rushed forward, and Ash's eyes glowed, with a psychic push he sent Cubone flying into the wall. Ash gathered up his strength and warped them all to the Pokémon center.
Nurse Joy and Chansey came out and began treating everyone. "What happened here?"
Before Ash could respond another tremor racked Pewter City. "That Chorus guy is causing a racket and he hurt Brock and his Pokémon, will they be ok?" Ash asked, and Nurse Joy looked them over.
"They all have some serious wounds, but you got them here in time." Nurse Joy explained. "You're Pokémon have been treated and are ready to battle, I assume you are going to fight Chorus?"
"Yeah, I have to stop a guy like him, I cannot accept him as a gym leader." Ash said, and left with his Pokémon. "Let's go kick his ass!" Machoke said bringing his fist together.
"Ash, you must be one of those psychic trainers I heard about, even with that kind of power I can tell that guy is dangerous, Growly was on edge the whole time." James said.
"Well I've never met another psychic trainer, and it doesn't matter how dangerous it is we are going!" Ash went to the gym, and found it had completely been changed all the rocks had been turned to dust and the whole place looked like a dessert.
"Ahh so your back, you are my first challenger as a gym leader, let's have some fun." Chorus said, and Cubone stepped out of the shadows.
"I challenge you for the gym, I win you get lost!"
"How interesting, but it won't matter I met psychic trainers like you in the Underground and I beat them all."
'The Underground? What's that?' Ash thought. 'It doesn't matter I have to beat him.'
"Machoke I choose you!" Machoke stepped out on the battle field.
"Very well, Sandshrew come forth." The ground type sprang up from the sand. The Pokémon had scars on it's body.
"How horrible…?" Ash said, staring at the Pokémon.
"You have no idea…" Chorus said with a laugh. "Sandshrew, use sand storm!" The sand was whipped up into a powerful storm, it was so thick Ash couldn't even see Machoke inside the storm. Ash called out to Machoke, but the winds were so loud Machoke couldn't even hear Ash's commands. "Now you will face my tactics Sand Out not only can you not see but your Pokémon can't either making him a sitting duck for my Sandshrew."
Ash growled, and focused his mind. "Machoke can you hear me?" Ash sent through mentally.
"I can but I can't see anything, and this sand hurts!" Machoke sent back.
"Stay strong I know you can beat him." Ash sent.
"Now face our attacks, Sandshrew use Slash!" Sandshrew attacked and slashed Machoke, then he was injured by the sand once more. "Now for a combo attack Sand Slash!" Sandshrew used the sand and slash to send sand like blades to strike Machoke and caused extra damage.
"Machoke wait for him to strike again, and hit him with your Drain Punch, he'll have to get close so be ready!" Ash sent mentally.
"What can you do, your Pokémon can't hear you, you can't return him, and he can't see, it's over, Sandshrew finish off the brute using Fissure!" Sandshrew rushed at Machoke to deal a one hit K.O. but Machoke was ready this time, despite his injuries he dodged and punched Sandshrew hard draining his energy with a critical hit.
The force of the punch blew away the sand storm and standing as victor was Machoke. "No way, impossible!" Chorus shouted, but he returned Sandshrew to his ball. Thanks to Drain Punch Machoke healed most of his wounds.
"I figured Sandshrew had poor defense since you used such a dirty trick to hide your Pokémon." Ash said and Chorus grit his teeth.
"My next Pokémon will crush you, Diglett come forth." The tiny Pokémon came out. "Rock Slide!" A barrage of large rocks rained down upon Machoke.
"Machoke use Brick Break!" Machoke broke the stones, and then went after Diglett but the ground type was fast.
"My Diglett's dig will keep you from hitting him, your speed is not enough." The fight soon became a game of whack a mole with Machoke trying to strike Diglett. "Haha you can never catch my Diglett!"
Machoke got frustrated so instead of striking Diglett he punched the ground causing it to break forcing Diglet out of his hole. "Now I got you Karate Chop!" He hit Diglett and the ground type was knocked out.
"No way no one has ever bested my Diglett's speed!" Diglett was returned and Cubone jumped out onto the field. This one was far different from the others, upon inspection it's bone mask was cracked and it had scars on his body, and his bone club was cracked as well.
"Machoke be careful!" Ash called. "Keep your distance and use Focus Blast!" Machoke fired the attack but Cubone didn't dodge, instead he spun his bone and intercepted the attack and sent it flying away.
"Take him down with your Bone Club Cubone!" Cubone rushed at Machoke with insane speed. Machoke readied a Brick Break attack but it was to late with one strike Machoke was brought down. "Finish it, Cubone make him pay for hurting my Pokémon!" Cubone went to strike another blow to the fainted Pokémon.
"Stop It!" Ash shouted and once again Cubone met the force of Ash's psychic power, Machoke was teleported back to Ash's side and James checked up on him. "He's okay he's just fainted."
Ash looked to Duster and Gastly and knew they wouldn't be enough to beat Cubone. "Ok Squirtle, I'm counting on you." Squirtle nodded and jumped out onto the field.
"Sorry but, even your water type is going down, my Cubone defeated all kinds of water Pokémon what good is your little weakling?"
"Squirtle is not weak, and we'll show you! Squirtle use Water Gun. " Squirtle fired a water shot but Cubone deflected it with his bone. "Okay use Bubble!" Squirtle blew bubbles but Cubone just broke them with his staff.
"Now Cubone use Bone Club!"
"Quick Squirtle use Withdraw." Squirtle withdrew just in time and was protected from the attack. "Now spin and use Water Gun!" Squirtle obeyed and fired water from his shell and it landed a hit on Cubone.
"Grr, Alright no more Mr. Nice Guy, Rage!" Cubone's body began to glow red and his eyes turned red. Cubone began striking Squirtle again and again and sadly his protective effect wore off and he was knocked back to Ash.
"Squirtle you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, no worries I'll take this guy." Squirtle stepped back onto the field.
"Oh look your little turtle thinks he can win, don't make me laugh. Cubone end him with Bone Club."
"I will not give up!" Squirtle shouted and his body began to glow. Squirtle evolved into Wartortle. "I evolved alright!" Wartortle cheered happily.
"That's great Wartortle and you gained some new moves to!" Ash said happily.
Wartortle

Water Gun
"So what?! We'll still crush you go get them Cubone!" Cubone rushed at Wartortle.
"Use Water Gun!" Wartortle fired another water blast, Cubone tried to block it like he did before, however Wartortle's power surpassed his and Cubone was blown back and hit the wall.
"Impossible!" Chorus snapped. "Get up Cubone and use Bonemerang!" Cubone got up on shaky legs and threw his bone at Wartortle.
"Use Bite!" Ash called, and Wartortle bite down on Cubone's bone and broke it with his powerful jaws. With a smirk, he made a bring it on gesture at Cubone.
Cubone and Chorus fumed with rage. "Skull Smash!" Cubone charged at full speed ready to slam into Wartortle.
"Finish this up with Aqua Tail!" Wartortle jumped in the air doing a flip his tail glowing a brilliant blue color. The attacks clashed with great force and when the smoke cleared it was Wartortle standing tall.
"I lost…" Chorus said and sank to his knees. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a badge, it was round and the color of sand, and it was swirling towards the center. "This is the quick sand badge, a symbol of your defeat of me."
Ash didn't add the badge to his badge case instead he put it in a pouch and tucked it away in his pack.
Chorus tried to leave only to be captured by officer Jenny, Nurse Joy had called her, and when the battle was over she stepped in and capture Chorus. They planned to interrogate him on the location of the underground Pokémon battle rings, this proved useless since Chorus told them they had locations everywhere and nowhere and that's all he said. Chorus's Pokémon were taken to the Pokémon center, for treatment, after the treatment they vanished along with Chorus. Jenny didn't know how he escaped but it was clear he had help.
Ash returned to the center, ready to return Brock's gym to him, but there were surprises waiting for him.

Preview
The Pewter Gym is returned to Brock's father, and Brock and James seek to travel with Ash.
The talking Meowth lures trainers and somehow steals their Pokémon. Ash goes to investigate, and meets a pink Pokémon who loves to sing.
