Tamaki slowly came round with Hikaru and Kaoru fanning him on one side, Jeanie still holding him from behind and Haruhi dabbing his forehead with a cold cloth on the other side.
Anxious to see if everything was okay Tamaki began looking around for the little spirit and opened his mouth to speak.
"Don't try to talk. Everything is okay my darling... You did it..." Jeanie smiled and indicated to Haruhi, who held the spirit child in one arm while she put the cloth back in the bowl of ice water.
"She's right here Senpai and she is absolutely fine" she said gently and placed the baby in Tamaki's arms.
"Congratulations Boss it's a... Tree" Hikaru grinned and Kaoru immediately burst into giggles.
Tamaki look down at his little spirit in absolute awe. Her skin was less green now and she already had a full head of blonde hair. He lovingly moved some of the hair from the little ones face and kissed her forehead. It suddenly was worth all the agony.
"That poor tree will live now. I'm so proud of you and our little girl" Jeanie sniffed and kissed Tamaki's cheek.
"She's super cute Tama chan!" Honey grinned "but she made you break Takashi's finger"
"Yeah" Mori held up his now strapped hand with a slight smile.
Tamaki looked incredibly sorry about that but Mori waved his hand dismissively and when Kaoru lent in for a better look Tamaki moved his daughter so he could see her.
"She's gonna be a heart breaker boss" Kaoru noted
"Yeah" Hikaru nodded "no kidding. She has the parents good looks"
Tamaki immediately beamed with pride.
Kyoya was sitting on a chair next to the bed making careful notes when Tamaki reached out and pulled his sleeve.
"Hm?" Kyoya looked up "yes Tamaki"
Tamaki made it obvious he wanted Kyoya to have a hold. Kyoya immediately shook his head.
"You know very well I don't do babies Tamaki" he protested but the twins were already emptying his hands of his pen and note book.
"No really I... Look please... What if I..." Kyoya stammered as the spirit was placed in his arms. Soon after he was looking down at the child who looked back at him curiously.
Tamaki settled back against Jeanie and sighed contentedly. He was happy, exhausted and relieved and already totally adored his little one.
"She's... She's really something isn't she" Kyoya seemed to relax a little and then the baby gave the cutest little hiccup. That was when the club saw something that was very rare and valuable. Kyoya Ootori smiling a gentle and genuine smile.
Tamaki seemed extremely pleased with himself and his little girl when he saw that smile but the strain had taken a lot out of him. He found himself falling asleep against his will.
"It's okay my love you've earned your rest" Jeanie murmured when she saw Tamaki fighting it.
Tamaki's eyes drifted closed and he gave a small groan of resistance as he drifted off.
A day passed before a still mute Tamaki was back at the zoo where it had all started. He and the club had come to finally give the tree it's spirit and for Jeanie the time had come to return to her own tree.
"Thank you so much my darling" Jeanie reached up and touched Tamaki's cheek. Tamaki kissed the hand and then kissed his little spirits forehead.
"No doubt he'll be visiting you often Jeanie" Haruhi smiled "I hope that tree recovers well"
"Yeah look it seems better already" Kaoru pointed at the tree which was already gaining new leaves.
"Great work little spirit!" Honey clapped "keep it up!"
"Well... I guess it's time to go for now" Jeanie murmured "goodbye my love. You're truly my hero"
With that both Jeanie and the spirit disappeared in a swirling mass of colourful leaves.
A silent tear ran down Tamaki's cheek and Kyoya put a hand on his shoulder.
"They aren't gone moron. You'll see them again"
"Yeah... I know" Tamaki croaked and wiped the tears away.
"Annnnnd he's back folks" Hikaru crossed his arms.
"And I was so enjoying the peace and quiet" Kyoya said in mock sorrow.
"Tell me about it. We'll never get that kinda quiet again" Haruhi sighed
"Hey... I have a very melodious voice" Tamaki huffed, his voice still raspy, "I am gonna miss them though."
"No doubt" Kyoya agreed "still... What must be must be... Come on you should rest up before club on Monday"
With that the host club left the zoo. However, it would be a weekly habit for them all to visit and see how Tamaki's little spirit family was doing. Naturally it thrived.
