Hey, Talia here. Normally when I get a particularly good review or question, I like to send an Email back to the person but, due to the fact that a few people didn’t leave an address, I’m choosing to do it in a long winded Author's note (A/N for you how didn’t know what that acronym meant.) Here goes:
Everqueen: Great chapter (number 3). HEHE. So, Tohru didn't tell her son about his dad's condition. That was a good way for him to find out. I did like it though.
Talia: that would have defeated a part of the plot (and the chapter would have been shorter).
Lost but Smiling: AHH!!! This is good... I just read 1-6... and I have a question, how is Kyo able to have sex with Tohru but he can't even bump into her? ~_~ I am so easily confused! Great work though! I love it... I cannot WAIT for the next chapter!
Talia: Sex doesn’t have to include hugging. they just can’t touch torso to torso.
sweetestattraction: I love this fic. You need to have something like Kyo finding out how tough it was for Tohru in the beginning to make it work for her and Nikkou and have Kyo get really upset about it. Then Tohru says something like, "But that was a long time ago and it wasn't your fault. Don't worry, everything is fine now." and then they hook up and get married and give Nikkou a little sister or something. But hey, that's what I'd do. You just continue on doing what you do cause that's what makes this fic yours, right?
Talia: HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT? ISN'T IT OBVIOUS THAT THEY’RE GOING TO GET TOGETHER? It is a romance story. And you get points for figuring out a part od the plot. ^_^
that’s all for now (like they were short or simple answers) I hope to hear more from my avid readers again. Thank you all, now on with the story...
Tohru sat frozen in front of Akito who lounged on the porch with her back to the anxious girl and Hatori.
“Hatori tells me that you’re with child.” Her cold voice trailed down the girl’s back.
“Yes.” Tohru gulped.
“Tell me… who is the lucky father to be?” Akito asked walking in and sitting in front of the riceball. “Is he a Sohma? You can tell me.”
Tohru swallowed twice before answering, “Yes, he is.”
“Then who is it?” Akito smiled.
Tohru mumbled the cat’s name with her head turned to the floorboards.
Akito’s hands framed the riceball’s face, nails digging into the flesh. “You’ll have to speak up.” The nails started to draw blood, although her voice remained even, “What was that name?”
“K…K-Kyo” Tohru was released with a shove. She lay on the ground hoping that the baby was still okay.
“You like monsters, do you?” The head of the family stood looking down at the girl like an insect.
“I… like him.” Tohru blushed. Her face hurt and having blood rush to the wounded area wasn’t helping.
“You do, do you? Perhaps I should teach him a lesson for not consulting me when it comes to important matters such as choosing one’s bed partner.” Akito said tapping her finger against her cheek.
“No, please, don’t punish him. I’ll do anything.” The smile that spread across Akito’s face worried Tohru.
Akito picked the girl up off the floor, holding her by the front of her shirt. Her other hand rested lightly on Tohru’s lower abdomen, “Wouldn’t want to hurt the baby, would we? You will either leave Shigure’s house or give up the child. If neither of these are suitable options, then your memory will be erased. Do I make myself clear?” Tohru nodded a little too quickly, brown eyes wide with unshed tears. She didn’t want to give up her baby and she didn’t want to leave.
Akito released her and turned, “Good. I look forward to your answer. I will have it by this evening. Get out.” Tohru bowed and stood up, rushing to the door.
Hatori hurried the nearly hysterical girl to his office. By the time they got in, Tohru was sobbing barely able to keep herself on her feet. Hatori helped her sit on one of the hospital beds. Tohru laid down still crying and curled around herself, around the child growing inside of her. She wanted to raise that child with Kyo… he would be a good father. Hatori lightly placed a hand on her shoulder. Tohru looked up at him eyes red and puffy.
“What should I do, Hatori, tell me what to do.” She whispered. “I don’t want to lose this baby or Kyo.”
“Do you… love him?” the doctor asked.
Kyo sat up. What was that noise? He left his room quietly walking towards the sound. He stopped in front of Tohru’s room. It sounded like she was crying. Kyo slid the door open and poked his head in.
“Tohru,” he said quietly, “What’s wrong?” She didn’t move from the futon. The cat walked closer and looked down at her. The women’s eyes were closed, her tears glittering in the moonlight. She whimpered again and another tear slid down her nose. “Tohru,” Kyo whispered close to her ear, “Tell me what’s wrong.”
“E... don wun t loos yu.” She mumbled. Kyo sat back at stared at her. “Don wun t leev. E’m surry.” She rolled a little in her sleep. The cat ran his fingers through Tohru’s hair, something he’d wanted to do since his visit. He wiped the tears from her eyes lightly with his thumb.
His heart beat in his throat as he leaned close to her ear again and said, “You have me. I’m not going anywhere.”
Nikkou glared at the man. Figures he’d put the moves on her while they were here. The boy turned and went back to the living room where he was sleeping. He heard when the cat went outside. Nikkou went into Tohru’s room. She now rested on her side, moon casting soft shadows on her face.
“Mom,” Nikkou whispered softly, “Do you love Kyo?” Tohru smiled a little before nodding. The boy sighed and went back to his bed and lay down. He was a little angry that he wasn’t going to be the only man in his mother’s life. But he was sure he’d get over it.
Tohru rolled over in bed, looking out the window. She dreamt about that awful day again. She got up and walked around, acquainting herself to the house. The woman walked into the living room where Nikkou slept quietly on the couch. Tohru knelt down and rubbed his head a lightly like she did when the child was little. She stood and walked to the window, looking out. In the moonlight she could see Kyo’s outlined silhouette practicing forms. She was stunned by his beauty; the lines of his kicks and the obvious power behind the punches. Kick, drop, punch, drop, roundhouse drop, back to center. Tohru stumbled over an end table and caught herself with hands against the glass. She looked back at Nikkou, who stirred a little but didn’t wake. Kyo, however, was looking at her. Tohru looked back at him, blushing when she realized she’d been found out. She walked out to the porch smiling a little and sat down.
“I’m sorry to interrupt. I could go back to bed.”
“No… it’s okay. Are you having trouble sleeping?” Kyo sat down next to her. Tohru nodded a little. The cat looked at the young woman who now lightly rubbed her hands up and down her arms. Kyo scooted closer to her. Tohru, being oblivious, stood up and looked at the plants that grew around the house. She shivered again. The cat stood behind her, taking off his gee shirt and draping it on her shoulders. Tohru turned to face him. His hands still rested on her upper arms as he gazed down at her eyes, now dark pools in the moonlight. Tohru’s heart beat faster as she thought about her first kiss in ten years. She moved closer to him, placing her hands on his chest to make sure there’s a space between them. The feeling of contrast from his heated skin to her cold was not lost to either of them. Kyo leaned down and lightly rubbed his lips against hers, in a chaste kiss. It had been way too long. He found himself asking why he didn’t kiss her the minute he stepped foot in her house. Kyo thought back to when he first saw Tohru again. How he vowed to not fall in love with her again… couldn’t fall in love again. At least he kept his promise. The cat hadn’t fallen in love with her again; he loved her from the start. His Tohru, his precious little flower. Kyo pressed his mouth more firmly to hers; hands holding the woman securely, as if he didn’t hold on tight, she might vanish again.
Tohru sagged under the weight of his fervor, knees buckling. Gods, how she had missed him. ‘It must be real love,’ she thought to herself. When she left, she convinced herself that it would be for the best, that it was just an infatuation… or that Kyo would leave her when someone new came along. They were still so young. She knew it was for the best… right? Tohru tilted her head to the side, feeling him more completely. But… what if it was real? What if they had found each other and were meant to be together? Tohru leaned back and shivered but it didn’t have anything to do with the cold.
She blushed looking down before mumbling, “Good night. I’ll see you in the morning.”
Kyo, still kind of out of it said, “Night... sleep well.” He was infinitely happy that she hadn’t felt him through his pants. That would be bad. The Cat stretched and went to bed unable to think of anything but the kiss he’d just shared with Tohru. He smiled at her slight hesitance; proof that she was still mostly pure. He rolled on to his side, falling to sleep almost intently.
