POV Change. Ralp's POV
I remember everything Claus said... And then i instinctively bit my finger just as the cannon fires. I transform into a giant and smoke and dust spreads everywhere... My upper body is sticking out of the titan and i quickly regain my senses and drag myself out before anyone realizes what happened.
Eren: Was that me?
Mikasa: No...
Eren: But who was it?
Mikasa: I'm not sure.
Me: I... I think i did it.
Eren: Whaaaaat?
Mikasa: Really?
Armin: Are you serious?
Me: Yes.
Eren: How long have you had this ability?
Me: I could ask you the same question.
Eren: But i just discovered it.
Me: Yeah and so did I.
Eren: This is all just... So unreal...
Me: Yeah i know... Will they suspect me too now?
Eren: No they will blame me and i will take all the blame.
Me: No you can't! I will try to in some way convince them it was me all along. I... I don't want to loose you again.
Eren: Well but I don't want to loose you either!
Me: But Eren. I may just be able to make this work. I'm good with working out deals and stuff. Just like... Just like my dad was!
Eren: ...
Me: Just trust me okay?
Eren: But do you remember what we promised?
Me: Yeah of course i do!
Eren: We said that we would protect EACH OTHER and trust EACH OTHER. Not that i will have to depend on just you. I can handle this all.
Me: *Sigh* Ok but lets protect EACH OTHER. Not just you protecting me or me protecting you and vice versa. Ok?
Eren: Ok.
She smiles at me.
Me: Anyway now to something more important. Are you all okay?
Eren: Of course.
Mikasa: Yes.
Armin: Yeah.
Armin: It's hard to believe that just one person did this... Thing...
Me: Yeah i know. I think all of us had a hard time swallowing the titan shifting... Thing. Anyway this dust will just serve as a distraction for a while. They will probably continue their attack soon... But they probably can't see us right now. I'm to scared to talk to them myself and i don't really want Eren to handle things right now seeing how things have become. Also Eren. You have something important to tell us right?
Eren: How did you know?
Me: Claus talked about how Mr Jaeger had talked to him about your basement and the secret to the titans. Mr Jaeger even made Claus into one of... These. He had also given Claus a box and also a syringe. When he was about to inject it into me, he told me about all of this...
Eren: My Dad just told me that we need to get into the basement and that all secrets lie there.
Me: Damn... I wish he just had told put all the info in that box... I never got to know what was really in there... Couldn't your dad just had put it in there?
I slam my fist into the titan's skeleton and it cracks.
Me: So many have died for that info...
Eren: That is probably humanity's only hope... Guess we will never know though why he did what he did...
She looks sad.
Me: It's okay. We will get that info... I promise. And you won't have to do it alone!
I kiss her on the forehand.
Eren: It just feels pretty hopeless knowing how many died while it was just in my basement all along... Damn... Where did he even-
She begins to look angry but Mikasa puts her hand on her shoulder.
Mikasa: We have other things to worry about right now, Eren.
Eren: Yeah.
Me: Oh...
Eren: What?
Me: The smoke is clearing...
But just then my titan's skull falls off, creating even more dust.
Eren: Right now we need to leave this place.
Armin: But to where? And how?
Eren: It doesn't really matter. We just really need to get out of here. We can climb the wall and get into my basement. But i will need to turn into a titan first.
Me: Just try to do it like me. But be careful and don't hurt yourself to much.
Eren: I will try.
Me: It's a reflex kinda. For example we never learn how to move our arms but we still just do it. But i think you need to focus and have a clear goal in mind.
Eren: It needs to be strong though. Like that 15 meter titan i was before.
Her nose starts bleeding.
Mikasa: Eren, your nose started bleeding!
Me: You are straining yourself. Don't do it.
Armin: Your looking pale... And your breathing has become heavy too... You may have over done yourself earlier.
Eren: I couldn't care less for my well-being. I've two ideas. If you don't try to cover for me at least you guys would at least be spared. I have already gotten you to involved...So i will go solo from now on.
Armin: Eren I-
Me: Eren no!
Mikasa: Eren ,I'm coming too
Eren: No you can't.
Me: If we can't keep up, you can just abandon us. I don't care if you refuse!
Eren: Just cut it out already! Mikasa. I'm not your little brother or a kid! And Ralp... We have to break up... Sorry.
Me: Eren, No!
Eren: I'm sorry...
Me: But Eren!
Eren: But I'm just a monster!
Me: What am I then? I am the same as you are!
Eren: No... I got you into this mess.
Me: I just... I can't.
Eren: Huh?
Me: You are just so stubborn. So willing to die. When are you gonna stop being so dense and selfish and listen to somebody else!?
Eren: You sound just like Jean!
Me: I'm giving up. Mikasa speak some sense into her!
Mikasa: Eren you can't do this alone!
Eren: I have too.
Mikasa: But what if you die?
Eren: I won't.
Me: Wait didn't you said you have another idea?
Eren: Yeah right... Armin, I will leave everything up to you.
Armin: Huh?
Eren: I know how unrealistic this plan is but it would be most effective to use this titan power under the army's command. I know it's a lot to ask but if you think you can convince the army that I'm not a threat, I will put my trust in you and stay. That's my second idea. If you think you can't , i will have to resort to my first idea. You have fifteen seconds to decide if you can do it or not. I'll respect any opinion you have.
Armin: Eren... Why trust me with such a big decision?
Eren: You're always good with these kinds of situations Armin. The worse the situation is the better your decision will be. I'm willing to bet on that.
Armin: But when ever was i useful...
Me: Armin. Don't say such things. You are always helpful! Remember 5 years ago? If you didn't find Claus, we all would have been eaten by that titan.
Eren: Remember your not a burden... Or useless. You have always been there for all of us.
He falls to his knees.
We look at him for a while.
Eren: We are out of time...
Then after a while Armin suddenly stands up again.
Armin: I'll convince them no matter what. Do anything you can to show that you are not a threat.
We all nod and he begins to walk out of the dust.
I whisper.
Me: (Armin... Thank you so much. I'm in debt to you forever.)
I can hear him drop his gear.
Captain: Halt!
I can hear everyone point their guns at him but then he stops. I can barely see him holding up his hands.
Captain: So you have finally showed your true colors monster! I'll... I'll signal the canon to fire!
Armin: She's not the enemy of mankind! We are willing to share any and all information we have!
Captain: I have no intention how hearing your pleas! We have seen enough! There is no room for discussion! If you claim he is not our enemy then prove it! If you can't we will simply eliminate the threat!
Armin: There's no need for proof! (He pauses) Besides how we see him is not an issue!
Captain: What?
Armin: I heard that many have seen her in action! If it's true then you must also have seen her fight the other titans! And that includes the titans swarming and surrounding her! So simply the titan saw her as a target of predation, just like the rest of mankind! No matter what that can't be denied!
The soldiers start to comment.
???: That's true...
???: He has a point...
???: A titan as a ally?
???: That's ridiculous!
???: A monster at our side?
I hear so many voices and whispers...
Captain: Prepare to attack! Don't be fooled by his tricks! Their actions have always been beyond our comprehension! It must be possible for them to imitate our form and speech to mislead us! We cannot allow them to do as they please any longer!
He looks at us and we nod again.
He puts his hand over his heart.
Armin: I'm a soldier that has served humanity since long and offered his life for the revival of mankind! To perish while obeying that conviction would be my life's greatest story! If we were to utilize her power in addition to our remaining forces, recapturing this town wouldn't be impossible! Praying for the glory of mankind, I shall elaborate on this strategy worth with all the time I have left!
We can now faintly see the captain of the garrison.
???: Captain Felman we should consider his-
Captain: Silence!
He raises his arm slowly and I and Eren prepare to transform as Mikasa prepares to take out her blades.
He is about to lower it but someone stops him.
