  a/n: This chapter ended up a fair bit longer than expected, but I wanted to do battles justice most writers skip over it to get to the action, but thats not what I want my story to be. I hope you still enjoy it, and hope to see some reviews soon

The sun peeked through a crack between the window and blinds, illuminating the room a bit and awakening Stephanie from her slumber. She stretched wide and yawned as she sat up. Her hair a tangled mess, in need of a good cleaning and brushing. She looked to her side to see her sleeping pokemon dreaming away. She shook him gently.
   "It's time to wake up JB, we have a big day today, and we both need a shower." She stated as she got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom.
   The sun hadn't quite warmed the room yet and a chill ran through her and she remembers she had nothing but her thigh high socks on... And dried cum from top to bottom. Thwackey cooed his name at the caress of the woman he loved across his body. He too remembered last night and how much their relationship had changed in just the week or so that had been together.

Stephanie wrapped her arms around JB and pulled him in close. The embrace the two shared was full of emotions they both felt for each other.
   Stephanie lifted JBs chin and leaned in the last bit and kissed her lover on the lips. JB wasn't sure what was happening, it was his first kiss, but he liked it. Stephanie began to feel something pushing between her thighs.    "I see someone else is awake now too... How about a quickie before we start the day?" Stephanie said with a cheshire grin on her lips.

Tiny I want you to be extra careful if you get called up, grass pokemon have a type advantage over ground, but I know this team can do it. We've been training hard and we're all ready to go." Stephanie voiced her plan.
   All three pokemon cheered at the plan as they finished eating. Stephanie recalled the trio to their pokeballs and made she they were fully healed up by nurse joy before making her way to the gym.
   She entered and was met by a member of Pokemon League staff.
   "Welcome to the Turffield gym. Is this the first stop on your league challenge?" Asked the man in a white and black league uniform.
   "Uh... Yes it is, but I'm ready for the challenge!" Stephanie stated and stood a little taller.
   "Almost, only one thing left. You need to change into you're official Pokemon League uniform and then you'll be ready."
   "Oh of course. Is there a changing or locker room nearby for me to use?" Stephanie said suddenly flustered that she forgot.
   "Indeed their is, right over here. Once you are ready approach the main entryway to the gym proper over there, and good luck trainer." The league member, pointed first to one door then another with a smile as he directed her.
   After a quick change and a peptalk to herself, she made her way in to start the challenge. Stepping through the doors she had to shield her eyes as the bright sun shone bright in the open air stadium.
   Welcome challenger! I am the referee for the trial you are about to undertake and will explain the rules before you start!" A man in a black shirt and shorts called to her as she regained her sight.
   "I am ready sir, just tell me what I need to do." She stated confidently.
   "And I am sure you are, but first a few rules. Rule number one: Once started the tasks set forth by the gym leader must be completed before the gym leader can be challenged. Rule number two: You may leave the challenge at any time, but any progress will be forfeit and the task will need to be restarted in order to proceed. And rule Number three: The standard limit of up to six pokemon may be used in the full challenge. Do you understand the rules as I have stated them?" The referee said and stated in a very official tone that caught Stephanie off guard a small bit.
   "Yes I do, I'm ready, what is the task?" Stephanie replied.
   Gym Leader Milo has set forth the challenge of Wooloo rustling. All Wooloo in each zone but be herded by the trainer to the pen on the far side. There are four zones you must complete. When you are ready you may proceed to the starting point." The referee gestured with an open palm to the box denoting the starting position.
   Stephanie stepped into the box and a tone counted down until a buzzer rang signalling the start of the challenge. She ran forward and took in the scene before her. It was simple grass filled arena with a few barriers set up along it as obstacles. Stephanie approached the first group of Wooloo and they scattered as she got close.
   They baaed and brayed as they scattered around the arena, but Stephanie quickly realized she could herd them in the direction she needed just by walking calmly forward and leaving the pen at the far end as the only escape. It took her some time to get into the swing but after about ten minutes she had the first herd of Wooloo successfully penned in.
   The referee's whistle blew and the Wooloo were led away to the sides of hte area before the barrier to area two opened before her. She walked forward and her eyes swept around seeing what obstacles stood in her way. Her eyes opened in shock as she saw a trainer on the far side and a Yamper patrolling the center of the field.
   The auburn haired trainer set forward to gather this flock. It took her only a few moments to gather the hard into a ball of fluff, but as she urged them towards the far end, the herd scattered to the walls as the yamper startled them. She stamped her foot and huffed as the new hurdle in her way.
   Stephanie stood back and watched the Yamper. She realized he was only patrolling in one small area in the center of the arena. With the new information she set to work on her new plan. Starting from the left she herded the first half of the wooloo into the pen. She approached the trainer near the pen who smiled at her.
   "So what's your deal? Are you supposed to try and stop me?" She asked the trainer.
   "No miss I am not. I will battle if you would like, but it is not required to complete the tasks. However, their may be some advantages to beating the trainers in each zone." He replied happily.
   "What kind of advantage?" Stephanie asked dubiously.
   "I cannot reveal that information until you've beaten me in battle." He replied again.
   Stephanie thought about this new information and decided she didn't want to risk her pokemon this soon into the challenge and stepped away to gather the other half of the Wooloo in the zone. It took a bit longer this time as the yamper had scattered the group wider while she had talked to the trainer, but she made it to the end with twenty wooloo successfully wrangled. They were guided out to the sides and the barrier to the third zone lowered.
   This time as she stepped forward she saw it was a mix of the first two zones with two hedge obstacles and a single yamper patrolling in a figure eight around them. She waited and studied the arena before she started this time. She began by herding the sheep to the right and down the path between the wall and the hedge. As she neared the end, the Yamper rounded the corner ahead of her and forced the herd back to the start. Stephanie sighed and went back to the beginning.
   She watched and waited this time, until the Yamper was meandering down the left path before she made her move. Acting quickly she pushed the Wooloo down the left side trying to hurry the wandering Wooloo to the end. She manahed to get them to the end just as the Yamper rounded the corner, letting her proceed to the fouth and final zone.
   Looking around the final arena she saw a practical maze of hedges and muliple Yamper patrolling them. She growled in frustration, not seeing an immediate answer. She studied the arena for a long while, but couldn't see a path without risk. With a sigh she approached the female trainer at the far end of the zone.
   "Okay, I'll bite. Let's battle and see what advantage you can give me." She said in a fluster.
   Drawing out a pokeball the trainer nodded in acceptance of her challenge and threw out her first pokemon. in a flash of red light an adorable pink and green bulb appeared and bounced with a smile. A Bounsweet
   Stephanie responded by sending out her ace for this gym, Ares. The fire puppy pokemon came out with a howl and a fierce gaze in his eyes.
   "Let's do this Ares! Hit it with a Flame Wheel!" Stephanie called out.
   Ares rushed forward as flames licked his legs and he bolted forward in a rolling arc of fire. Scoring a direct hit Ares leapt back and waited for the next command. The Bounsweet rolled back with spirals in its eyes, knocked out in a single move. The league trainer recalled the fainted pokemon and threw out her next opponent. Another flash and an Oddish appeared before them all crying its name adorably.
   "Ares use Flame Wheel again." Steph commanded.
As Ares started foward the flames growing once again. He suddenly stopped, shaking as if something was holding him back. Looking to her challenger Stephanie saw a yellow powder flowing from the leaves on Oddish's head.
   "Stun Spore, a great move for stopping a pesky pokemon in its tracks. Oddish use Mega Drain!" The Trainer said smugly.
   Ares body limped slightly as the life force was drained from him and fed into the grass pokemon.
   "Come on Ares you can do it, shake it off and use Flame Wheel!"
   Ares regained his composure and charged in again, the flames licking his legs. A tendril of electricity swirled around the pokemon trying to slow him down, but a spark of fire ignited in the fire pokemons eyes. He pushed through and a circular ring of flame rushed forward striking the Oddish with full force sending the bundle of grass skidding to his trainers feet. The battle was over.
   The trainer smiled and bowed in congratulations before letting loose a loud whistle to the air. Their ears perking up the Yampers Scampered over to the trainer and sat by her sides.
   "Are you kidding me!? I could have stopped the Yampers by beating you guys before I tried herding the Wooloo!?" Stephanie cried in frustraion.
   "Well we don't tell you the advantage for a reason. We leave the decision making to the challengers, we can't make it too easy for you." The trainer replied with a wink.
   Stephanie glared at the trainer and stomped back to the start, quickly herding the Wooloo to the end, finishing the task, leaving only Milo left in front of her. She stepped into the next zone, a full sized pokemon arena. She stared in awe as she took in the size of it all. She had been in one ebfore during the opening ceremony, but it was so loud and busy it was all a blur to her, this was the first time she could quietly take it in.
   "Hey there trainer. I see you've made it through my tasks. That means you've earned the right to challenge me." A burly looking man in a wide brimmed straw hat stopped forward.
   "I'm Milo and this is my gym, are you ready for the REAL test?" He asked with a grin and holding up a pokeball.
   Stephanie looked to him and stepped forward to greet him.
   "I'm Stephanie and I'm ready to face you sir, and earn my first badge." She replied assuredly.
   Throwing out a pokeball each the battle began. Stephanie sending out Ares and Milo sending out a Gossifleur.
"Gossie use Magical Leaf!" Milo called to his pokemon.
"Ares use Ember to burn the leaves away then follow up with a Flame Wheel." Cried Stephanie.
Ares barked out a spread of embers as the glowing leave of gossifleur shot forward. The fire burning through the leaves sending nothing but cinders to the ground. Ares charged forward once more an arc of flame barrelling toward the flowering pokemon.

"Use Rapid Spin to deflect and counter it Gossifleur." Milo called calmly.
   The red and green pokemon became a blur as it spun around. As Ares connected with his attack he seemed to bounce off and away skidding to a halt. The Gossifleur hadn't slowed down and turned like a top colliding into the back of Stephanie's pokemon, knocking him to the ground.
   Stephanie winced in sympathetic pain with her pokemon. "You've got this Ares get up and use Agility, let's see if that flower can keep up with you!"
   Ares stood back up and a seemed to blink forward moving at incredible speeds back towards the waiting pokemon.
   "Ember, then hit her with a Flame Wheel while shes dazed!"
   Ares darted forward blindingly quick, a flurry of flames spraying at the grass pokemon. Gossifleur covered her eyes and staggered as the flames licked against her. Maintaining his speed Ares circled around, once more a flaming drum of power skidding through the dirt like a car drifting a corner. Cannoning into the pokemon and knocking it out in one massive blow.
   "Well done, but this isn't over yet. Let's go Eldegoss!" Milo recalled his wounded pokemon and sent out his next choice.
   "Slow him down with a Sleep Powder attack."
   Stephanie watched as the blue dust enveloped her partner. He began to stumble as he tried to shake loose the drowsiness filling his body.
   "Ares return before you fall asleep. Thwackey let's do this!" Swapping her pokemon with a practiced confidence.
   The beat pokemon came forth yelling his name boisterously. Brandishing his sticks menacingly.
   "Let's start off with a Razor Leaf."
   "Eldegoss counter with a Razor Leaf of your own." Milo retaliated.
   The swarms of razor sharp leaves collided in the middle of the arena, creating a cyclone of green. But Stephanie was ready for this and had already give the next command. Thwackey leapt through the center of the vortex, his branches ready to swing. He caught the Eldegoss off guard and smashed into the cotton bloom pokemon with two strikes in quick succession. The cotton puff winced in pain and floated back away from the assault.
   "Great Double Hit JB! Follow up with a Branch Poke." Stephanie called to her partner.
   JB lunged forward closing the gap as he thrust his stick forward like the blade of a sword, striking Eldegoss center mass.
   "Shake it off Eldie, and show that drummer that he's nothing without vocals, Sing!" Milo directed.
   A melodeous tone filled the air as Eldegoss began her song. Thwhackey couldn't block an attack that was merely sound, he tried to cover his ears, but the lullaby hard already taken hold. JB's eyes closed and he fell forward to the ground, fast asleep.
   "Darn, it's okay JB, you did great, return. Ares, I hope you shook it off. It's time to finish this!" Stephanie declared sending out her fire puppy once more.
   Ares was ready to go, being recalled before the sleep powder had taken effect. He stood ready to fight for his trainer until the end.
   "Take a Bite of her Ares"
   He rushed forward jaws open wide and clamped down onto the wispy cotton fluff. The Eldegoss flinched at the attack and reared back in pain.
   "Thats good Ares, now use Ember, full force and point blank!" Stephanie called out the attack.
Ares kept step with the retreating pokemon as his mouth glowed like live coals. Flames cascaded from his mouth enveloping the grass type in a gale of fire. The edges of the grass pokemon beginning to singe.
   "Now hit her with a Flame Wheel and end this!" Stephanie screamed to her partner.
   "You've got this Eldie, stop him with another Sleep Powder!" Milo ordered.
   Ares was already devoted to his attack and too close to stop. He collided full force with the blue mist, igniting the concentrated attack and causing a massive explosion. Both trainers braced themselves and covered their faces against the pressure wave that impacted them both.
   As the smoke cleared the outcome had been decided. The blast had been too close for either pokemon to avoid, but fire and fire got along a lot better than fire and grass. Ares was barely standing crouched on one hind leg. But Eldegoss lay in a pile next to him, unconcious.
   "Challenger Stephanie has won the battle!" The referee called out the victory.
   Stephanie blinked in surprise before jumping for joy. She had won, and it had been spectacular. She looked around and saw many Rotom cameras floating around having caught every second of the action. Stephanie looked down to see her limping pokemon trying to make it back to his feet.
   "Ares!" Stephanie cried as she rushed forward to embrace her wounded partner.
   Ares whimpered in pain but licked his trainers cheek to show he was ok.
   "You did great boy, take a rest and I'll get you healed up real soon okay?"
   He nodded as red light enveloped him giving the exhausted pokemon a chance to rest. Milo approached Stephanie and helped her back to her feet.
   "You did well Stephanie, you definitely earned this." Milo extended a hand showing Stephanie the shining badge she had just earned. She took it form him gingerly.
   He extended his other hand and Stephanie shook it, both showing great sportmanship.
   "Thank you sir, that was an amazing battle." Stephanie replied.
   "Please, call me Milo, I'm nobody's sir, I'm just a simple gym leader here to give as best a challenge as I can. Enjoy that badge, it's the first milestone in the long journey you've started, but it shows you have promise. Go forward and show the world what else you can do." Milo proclaimed.
   Stephanie nodded, still in awe of her accomplishment and made her way out of the gym. As soon as the doors closed behind her, she leapt in the air squeeling like a school girl.
   "I did it! I did it! I did it!" Stephanie shrieked in elation.
   After she had finally calmed down, she returned to the pokemon center and healed her pokemon. She released them all and hugged each on in turn. She showed them the badge they helped her earn. The team celebrated over a hot and delicious meal before retiring for the night. When she entered her room, she made sure the door was locked once again before she brought Ares out once again. The puppy pokemon cocked his head in puzzlement.
   "You did so great today Ares, It's time for a reward fit for a hero."
   Stephanie dropped her jacket to the floor and placed her beret on the night stand.

It was going to be a long, fun night...
