The next Day when he came in Kyo was sitting up in bed his hands folded in his lap. Haru smiled just seeing that Kyo was awake. Nothing was better then that. He didn’t care that Kyo couldn’t see just that he was awake. Walking over he sat on the side of the bed. Kyo closed his eyes and smiled. “I had hoped you’d get here soon.”

Haru smiled and felt a pang of hurt hit him. “Is this what he would have been like if he hadn’t been beaten so badly?” “If someone had cared?”

Haru reached out and picked up his hand. Kyo squeezed it for a moment. “You feel sad and worried.”

“Kyo.” Haru said brushing his hand over his cheek. “Do you know why your in here? Why your blind?”

Kyo looked confused and then as if he was in deep concentration before shaking his head. “No. I don’t.” he paused. “Tell me please.”

Haru looked down at Kyo’s softly tanned hand and stroked his knuckles. “When you were little you were hurt often. People where mean to you and didn’t like you.” He said leaving everything vague. “I was even mean to you before I knew better but by the time I did the damage had been done to you. You were withdrawn and angry. You didn’t believe in love and you hated everyone. Every once in a while though you’d talk to me. But when you realized you had you stopped.” He looked at Kyo’s face that was carefully blank.

“Go on.” He said in a calm voice.


“And I guess one day it got to much.” Haru felt the tears gather in his eyes. “You left the house and walked to a cliff and I saw you and followed.” He swallowed hard trying to get past the lump in his throat and the cold lump in his stomach. He felt Kyo try to pull his hand away. “And you jumped.” He finished quickly. “I tried to catch you but I slipped on the mud.”


“I don’t believe you.” He whispered and looked at Haru with blank eyes.

“It’s the truth Kyo. I wouldn’t lie to you.” He said and reached out a hand to touch Kyo’s face only to have him pull away.

“Why did you hate me?” Kyo demanded suddenly.

“I didn’t hate you Kyo.” Haru said in a whispery voice. “I was a child I didn’t know what I was doing was wrong till it was to late.” His voice took on a pleading edge. “I tried to make up for it really I did.” He said and tried to grasp Kyo’s hands.

“Why didn’t you stop me?” He asked and let Haru wrap his hands around his.

“I didn’t think you were going to jump. I just thought you were in a bad mood and when I talked to you before when you were in a foul mood I ended up through a door.” Haru said with a small smile creeping onto his face.

“Why do I not like that one that came here that day?”


“He was one of the people that hurt you most. He called you names physically hurt you cut you do and often. He also had and was everything you wanted.” He answered.

“What did I want?” Kyo asked his brows furrowed slightly

“You wanted to be as loved as he is. You wanted to be accepted like he is.” He answered and brushed his fingers over Kyo’s cheek again.


“Why?” Kyo asked. “Why am I so different?” He paused. “Am I repulsive? Is there something wrong with me?”

“No there’s nothing wrong with you Kyo. Your beautiful.” Haru said urgently hoping that Kyo would believe him.


“Do you love me?” Kyo asked in a hushed voice.

“More then you could ever possibly know Kyo. More then you know.” He said and held him to his chest gently.

“Even though I don’t know who I am anymore?” He questioned.

Haru nodded and rubbed Kyo’s back gently. “Yes.” He said firmly and felt Kyo go heavy in his arms.

Surprised he pulled back to see that Kyo had fallen asleep. Laying him back he covered him and held his hand gently waiting for him to wake again.
