Friendships

Cable woke up, he felt a litle fuzzy but everything came rushing back and he snapped out of it.
"Ami?" He asked into the darkened room.
"What?"
He focused his eyes to find she was in another bed lying with her back to him.
He heard her sniffle and knew that she was or had been crying.
"What's wrong, Ami?" He asked as he turned on a lamp.
She began explaining, from the moment she called.


"That's when I yelled at her to get away from me!"
"Why? Why would you say that?"
"I don't know." She paused to blow her nose.
"I think that I was afraid."
"Afraid of what?"
"That... That I..."
Cable looked confused for a moment before it hit him with full force.
"...be like her, and maybe even... Like her?" He said the end of his thought out loud and Ami shook her head.
"Why didn't you just..."
"Tell her that was the reason I didn't like dressing for P.E. because I had feelings and thoughts about girls." She stated.
"Because I'm afraid to be something that I was taught to be wrong an' immoral. that I would rather live a lie than tell the truth.
Or that I had watched her do something personal."
Her voice was slowly rising. "OR MAYBE THAT I LOVE HER!" She yelled suddenly causing
Cable to wince and grab his ears.
"That I didn't want to ruin out friendship... but now I might never have it back." She wispered quietly.
She started to cry silently.
"Ami."
She didn't answer and he knew she wanted to be left alone.
