Villain
K waited until all three of the band members had arrived to tell them about the cancellation. Fujisaki, per usual, showed up about fifteen minutes before Hiro arrived with Shuichi in tow. The singer bounced in happily, loudly chattering about their set later that day.
“Big news! We are not performing today.”
All six eyes blinked at him for a few seconds before the vocalist burst into protesting wails. Hiro tried to calm him, and the synth player sat back to wait for an explanation.
Sakano, walking in uncharacteristically late, seemed to have no idea what was going on. Deducing from Shuichi’s screeching that something had gone terribly wrong, he turned to the manager. “K-san?”
“We’re not playing today. We’ve been upstaged.”
The normally pale man turned white. “What’s happened?”
“I don’t know. Nittle Grasper is performing instead.” This brought another uproar. Hiro failed to keep a sobbing vocalist under control—he immediately assumed that it was his fault, that Ryuichi hated him for some reason and was going to ruin their career. In the middle of this pandemonium, as Sakano spun out of control and Fujisaki took aspirin, a new voice spoke from the doorway, silencing everyone.
“No, Shindou-san, this had nothing to do with you or Ryuichi-san. If you’d really like to know the cause, consult K-san; I’m sure he’d be perfectly willing to enlighten you.”
A brunet head replaced the president’s as he walked off. One of Kumagoro’s ears in his mouth, Ryuichi looked at them solemnly. “K, I said I’d help I know, but I couldn’t find him at first! I’ll go make him be nice and give it back!” Then he was gone too.
Four sets of eyes turned to focus on K. Sakano spoke first. “K-san, did you anger the president?” He gulped as he asked it.
K debated whether to answer truthfully and evade the questions about what he’d done, or to lie. As he tried to decide, their guitarist took pity on him.
“I’m sure he didn’t do anything he doesn’t normally. Just, K-san, don’t blow as many things up next time, okay?”
This apparent reason appeased everyone, and they sat back to wait on news from Ryuichi about whether they’d perform.
