Questions Asked
“We should of followed him as soon as he ran out” Ayame said to Hatori’s chest.
He knew what he wanted to do. I doubt we could stop him even if we tried and please stop crying, your making my shirt wet” Hatori said to the top of Aya’s head.
“Don’t you ever cry?” Aya asked looking accursedly up into Hatori’s eyes.
“Your doing all the crying for me. Now back to my question. Who do you think the person was who was mentioned in his note? I’ve worked out the second person, taken by death. That would be Akito. But the first person? How many people do you know have been taken from another? I mean, he could know hundreds of people.” Hatori had gone to collect his medical bag from Akito’s and had seen Shigure’s body surrounded by blood. He still could smell it on him. He had called out for help then went to check if there was the slightest chance that the dog might live. He had noticed the note. The note had been on Hatori’s mind for days, trying to work it out. The second part had been easy. The first had puzzled him. He might never know, only the dead would tell. The dead would tell. That gave him an idea…...
“Ayame, what’s the name of Thoru’s friend? The psychic freak one?”
“That would be me, Saki Hanajima at your service” she said.
Hatori literally jumped up six feet into the air. Saki continued “oh and what you are thinking, wont work. He has passed onto even where I can’t hear him.”
“Isn’t there any way?” Hatori asked gingerly.
“Not unless you want to risk death” She replied in her even, almost bored sounding voice.
“What are you two talking about?” Ayame asked worriedly.
“Nothing my love, just trying to work something out.” Hatori answered, patting the shorter man on the head. “All right, I’ll do what ever it takes” he continued to Saki.
“Even your friend’s happiness?”
“Yes, if I can work this out then I will never ask anything of the kind again.”
“Very well” Saki replied, with a strange light in her eyes. Was it joy at being able to help some one out of something else? “Meet me at the room in which it happened in one hour. I must go prepare” With that, she staled out of the room.
“You’ve got to meet that strange girl in an hour?” asked Ayame hopefully. “Maybe we can try out some new merchandise I’ve just had in for the shop?”
“My dear, I could never be done with you in an hour but I have to go” Then he too stalked out of the room.
