Mending Tamaki
Chapter 8 - Starting again
Kyoya awoke at midday the next day and discovered that Tamaki hadn't stirred yet. Thinking this understandable Kyoya decided to leave him to rest up. It was hours later that Tamaki finally emerged looking more miserable than ever.
"Damn stupid drug...Damn stupid day...God I'm such an idiot..." Tamaki muttered as he came out onto the balcony Kyoya was enjoying.
"Ah I see there is a debt for feeling so good last night" Kyoya noted from his seat.
"Damn stupid Kyoya too" Tamaki lit up a cigarette with the tiniest hint of a smile.
"Thanks a lot" Kyoya smirked, "it serves you right you know."
"Yeah I know...Don't rub it in mon ami." Tamaki took a drag and turned to look at Kyoya "I only remember parts...Did I tell you?"
"Yes and we won't discuss it further" Kyoya nodded
"Thank you. One question though..." Tamaki took another drag, "after everything do you think I'm disgusting? I mean I've done everying bad and what happened isn't an excuse. I know that."
"You're still Tamaki Suoh and I could never think less of you. Now the others will be here later so you have to pull yourself together. You look a total mess and that grouchy disposition is going to worry them."
"Kyoya..." Tamaki blew smoke at Kyoya, "I don't give a damn. Let them worry. I feel a mess and I'm tired of always trying to look like I'm not! It's exhausting."
"Do you mind? I like my lungs thank you very much" Kyoya waved the smoke away, "you know very well that you don't want them to worry."
"Fine I will attempt to look semi human but I doubt I'll be very social today." Tamaki sighed, "I'm so flat I had to drag myself out of bed and almost didn't succeed"
So the start to Tamaki's new life began.
Haruhi arrived late that afternoon before the others and a puffy eyed Tamaki answered the door.
"Oh I'm sorry Haruhi. Kyoya is out and I meant to be more presentable when you came" Tamaki croaked.
"I'm early Senpai. Come on I'll help you clean up" Haruhi took Tamaki's arm, pulling him inside with her. A hiss of pain made her pause.
"What is it? Did I hurt you?" She asked anxiously, "Let me see"
"No it's fine I just have a bruise there" Tamaki quickly pulled away.
"Senpai what's the big deal? Just let me look, get you fixed up and..." Haruhi pulled up Tamaki's sleeve and froze. There were three new wounds where the old ones were. They were so fresh they were still bleeding.
"Senpai what the hell is this!" Haruhi gasped.
"Haruhi I..."
"You're cutting? Are you insane?! " Haruhi cried before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, "Wait...No Im sorry you must be in so much pain to do this to yourself...Come on the others can't see this right? Let's bandage you up and wash that face of yours"
With that she led a frightened Tamaki to the bathroom, cleaned and dressed the wounds. When Kyoya returned they were drinking tea. Haruhi went to get all of them another cup when Kyoya rounded on her in the kitchen.
"Something is wrong here. What?" He demanded calmly.
"Kyoya do you know Tamaki cuts?" Haruhi enquired softly.
"I am aware of this...Why?"
"He cut today. I thought you should know." Haruhi informed him and Kyoya sighed heavily.
He left the kitchen and sat beside Tamaki. Haruhi followed looking uncharacteristically nervous and arrived in time to see Kyoya expose the bandaged arm. The bandage was faintly stained with blood so there was no doubt what was going on.
"You did warn me Tamaki but it can't continue. The fact is that I am not qualified to deal with this aspect of your problem. I can't help you and until it is sorted there is no way I can do much more for everything else. You can't work until you're in a much stabler place."
Tamaki just bowed his head and nodded.
"So...What are we going to do about this?" Kyoya asked, letting Tamaki's arm go.
"Perhaps if I saw someone?" Tamaki said after some thought, "that scares the hell out of me but you're right. I have to get better."
"That seems like a wise choice Tamaki" Kyoya smiled slightly.
"I'm so proud of you Senpai" Haruhi murmured, taking Tamaki's hand.
Tamaki was as good as his word and better. After the others had been and gone he rang and made an appointment.
Unfortunately the suggestion of the counsellor was that Tamaki stay in a ward for a few months to begin with. This didn't surprise Kyoya but it didn't sit well with Tamaki. However, he did do as suggested and as he got himself settled into his small room he realised this was going to be a very, very long few months. He hoped to God he wouldn't have to stay any longer.
