In the morning Lucy found herself in bed with both Natsu and Gray again. The two were cuddled into each other with Natsu wrapped around her. Really these two needed to either get a more comfortable bed or do something else since this was getting annoying. Of course to her shock Loke was on the other side of her sleeping with his shirt off cuddled into her with his hand on her breast.
Moving Loke’s hand off her boob, Lucy checked herself to see if she had clothes on and that she had not lost her virginity last night. Everything seemed fine though other than the fact normally Loke went back to the celestial world to sleep. Apparently they had been all drinking too much last night since after she looked in the room she saw that Laxus had taken her couch and Fried was on the other side of him as the two slept somehow without kicking each other in the face.
Surprisingly enough Erza wasn’t here drinking tea as usual and the only other person here was Juvia who had taken the armchair to sleep in which did not look too comfortable for anyone with Elfman on the floor.
Lucy wanted to scream at everyone to get out, but she just did not have the energy since she over drank last night too and was still wearing the bridesmaid dress. Lucy really did love Natsu, but the guy was smothering her as she tried to push him away a bit. Natsu always complained that Gray’s house was too cold and Gray complained that her house was too hot. What they needed was a luke warm house so they both would be happy and a bed that was not lumpy since she had yet to see their place and this supposedly lumpy bed.
Really Lucy could go back to sleep for a while longer, but Elfman was snoring terribly and it was really loud. She really did not know why everyone felt the need to invade her apartment. It was like they all had to conglomerate to this spot to torture her or something.
Loke rolled over and pulled Lucy into his arms cuddling her against his chest as he and Natsu seemed to have a tug of war going on who was going to cuddle with Lucy today. Natsu scooted over with Gray putting his hot body against her and the jerk had morning wood on top of it rubbing it against her ass. At that Lucy had enough.
“GET OUT ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!”
Lucy roared as everyone woke up to that with Lucy now furious. Laxus simply stretched and sat on the couch not moving. He was comfortable so he made Fried stay next to him although Fried was ready to bolt at the look on Lucy’s face.
Elfman grabbed Juvia’s hand and rushed out the door. Loke looked at Lucy and then at his state of dress deciding it would probably be a good idea to go to the celestial world for a while to let Lucy cool off. Thing was though he had been so comfortable and Lucy had felt so nice next to him.
Natsu just frowned at Lucy since he didn’t think he did anything wrong. He had been sleeping so good too since Lucy’s bed was perfect and warm. Gray got up and opened a window since he was boiling hot and he was only wearing his boxers. He and Natsu were used to Lucy yelling at them.
“Why are you so mad Lucy?”
Natsu asked with a pout that could rival a two year olds.
“You were rubbing your ‘you know what’ against me you pervert!”
Lucy said angrily as she got ready to start throwing things at Natsu.
Laxus chuckled since that was funny. Fried was ready to leave since he really did not want to be here, but Laxus held him steady. They had business with the other dragon slayer and they might as well wait for him to get into town, plus the couch was terribly comfortable. It was no wonder everyone decided to crash here.
“I thought I told you to leave!”
Lucy said angrily to Laxus who just smiled at her and shook his head no which was a mistake since he was slightly hung over.
“I am waiting for that iron dragon slayer to get into town so I can pummel him. He took a mate last night and it is a given that Natsu and I have to put him in his place. Besides your kind of cute when you’re mad.”
Laxus said as Lucy fumed since this was not the guild hall for these guys to just wait around in. This was her home and she wanted them to leave.
“Fine, I am going to go take a bath and if any of you jerks come in there I will murder you! And don’t think I can’t do it!”
Lucy roared as she gathered her bathing supplies and went to the bathroom with Natsu getting back into that bed since it was so comfy and warm. He wanted to sleep longer.
Gray looked around the room for his clothes only to find one of his old outfits hanging in Lucy’s closet nicely washed and laundered. Putting on his pants he took a chair and sat by the window to let the cool breeze blow on him. It was too damn hot around here and although Natsu loved it Gray had a hard time with heat.
Soon the door opened and Erza walked in frowning since she and Jellal had an argument about her luggage so she was not talking to him right now. She got herself a cup of tea and looked at Laxus who was sitting back on the couch relaxing with Fried. She did not know why they were here, but she was too pissed off to care. She always took that much luggage so if Jellal thought she would downsize he had better get over himself and soon.
Jellal was at the guild hall deciding to get a few beers in his system to get over the fact he was not being unreasonable. There was no reason to bring that much luggage with them when Erza had her own magic wardrobe. Of course Victor thought this was funny as hell and figured Jellal deserved some hell from the she demon from hell as Jellal had called Erza when they had fought.
Either way they could not fight long since they had to get to the train in two hours and thus at some point today they had to come to an agreement of some sort. Either way Erza was not to be pulling a cart of luggage in her condition. It was not going to happen.
After about an hour had passed Jellal was starting to get a little concerned since he had not seen hide or hair of Erza. He did not know where she went when she was pissed off so he asked around finding out that she was most likely at Lucy’s place with everyone else with Elfman doing his best to try to stay manly although he was terrified of Lucy right now.
Finding out where Lucy lived, Jellal planned on going into town to see if Erza was drinking tea with Lucy who at this moment was ignoring the men in her apartment since she thought she told them to leave. It was apparent that Natsu was insistent on stealing her bed for the day and Gray was not leaving without Natsu. Surprising enough Gray was still in shoes and socks with pants on so he was doing good for now as he sat by the window feeling that cool breeze on his skin.
“He’s coming.”
Laxus said excitedly as he grabbed Natsu from out of the bed throwing him over his shoulder to go meet up with the other dragon slayer who was on his way to the guild hall. Gray rushed out with Fried and Laxus to go see the fight as Natsu still was snoring over the top of Laxus’ shoulder since he was hanging like a sack of potatoes over him.
Lucy was worried since it was rather unfair for Natsu and Laxus to fight Gajeel at the same time even if she did not like the guy. He had beaten her up pretty good for no good reason other than to be a big jerk. Lucy knew he apologized to her, but it still did not make it right.
Jellal was trying to get past the crowd of people who were surrounding the guild hall looking at Laxus who finally dropped Natsu on his ass waking the boy up. Something big was going down and the guys wanted to see it. Everyone could smell it in the air.
Natsu smelled the change and growled since he was not about to lose his place to Gajeel. Right now he was second to Laxus and he would not be the lower dragon slayer nor would he agree to a tie. Wendy of course being a female dragon slayer would only fight if there was another female dragon slayer. This fight was for males only. If Gajeel beat Natsu they would be tied and have to battle again for the position of second. Laxus and Natsu were tied so they had a battle coming up in the near future. There could only be one Alpha male and Laxus would be damned if it was Natsu.
Laxus figured he would let Natsu fight Gajeel first today and see if he could wear him down and then depending on who won he would take the victor and beat the snot out of them. Natsu was so hot headed most likely he would beat Gajeel easily although they both were close to being equals. An Alpha should be able to recover from a lower dragon slayer battle.
Jellal suddenly found an opening and took it as he pushed his way out of the crowd and headed towards Lucy’s place or at least the place they said Lucy was at. They had to leave soon and he did not have time to argue further with Erza. This trip he guessed they would take the boatload of luggage, but next time he was going to have some say on what they took.
Finding Lucy’s place unlike everyone else he knocked on the door before entering. Lucy got the door and was happy to see Jellal since Erza was going to be late for their train if they did not leave. Also Lucy kind of wanted her apartment to herself for a little while.
“Erza we need to go.”
Jellal said as Erza sat pretending she did not hear him only for Jellal to have enough as he grabbed his wife throwing her over his shoulder as she kicked and screamed at him only for him to whack her on the rump telling her they would take the damn luggage and argue about this shit later. They had a train to catch.
Laxus watched as the other dragon slayer came around the corner ready for battle with Levy at his side. He sent Levy into the guild since he did not want her involved in this fight. It seemed Laxus and Natsu were going to gang up on him. Gajeel knew he could not beat them both at the same time, but refused to back down.
“So who do you want to battle first?”
Natsu asked Gajeel since he wanted to be fair. Natsu was itching to fight, but figured Laxus would be best for Gajeel to battle with while Gajeel’s powers were at their peak. If the guy was smart he would pick Laxus first to get him out of the way.
“You fight him first Natsu. Then I will fight the winner when the battle is done.”
Laxus said and Natsu agreed since he could take on both Gajeel and Laxus. However no one thought that was very fair since Laxus was much more powerful than Natsu as far as everyone was concerned and Natsu would be pretty beat up after fighting Gajeel. Those two were close to being equal in everyone’s eyes.
Mystogan watched the battle from a distance to see if he needed to interfere, but so far Natsu seemed to be fine and Gajeel was more than ready to fight. However if Laxus thought he would go into the fight right after these two young men fought he had another thing coming. It was only fair to let one of them heal fully in order to battle them again.
Natsu squared off with Gajeel who nodded to Natsu that he was ready. He prepared to do his worst to the boy as the two practically slammed into each other pushing their limits to the max as Gajeel moved faster with his powers than he had ever moved before. Natsu though was faster this time. It seemed the boy knew when Gajeel was going to do something and ended up being ten steps ahead although not unscathed by any means.
Natsu took hits that would have knocked most of the guild members out cold as he fired himself up for this battle picking himself up as did Gajeel when they were knocked down. Natsu used every trick in his arsenal until the end where he decided he had to get serious now as he used all of his fire power to knock Gajeel to the ground and this time Gajeel wasn’t getting up. He wasn’t dead by any means, but he was beaten and Natsu was on his knees unable to stand.
Collapsing on his face after beating Gajeel Natsu was out cold where as Laxus was now ready to beat Natsu to prove himself Alpha. The boy was in no shape for another battle, but that did not matter to Laxus at the time since his goal was simple. Beat Natsu before the boy could get up and beat him.
Laxus grabbed the unconscious Natsu throwing him over his shoulder only for Mystogan to stand in his way with his two guards. Laxus was not going anywhere with Natsu unless he wanted to be in a lot of pain.
“Get out of my way Mystogan. It is my fight and I am going to finish this.”
Laxus said only for Baldric to step forward.
“You are not taking that boy anywhere until he is healed fully. This is a dragon slayer battle and only a weakling would fight a wounded child.”
Baldric said angrily as he challenged Laxus.
“I don’t know who you are pretty boy, but if you don’t get out of my way I am going to hurt you.”
Laxus said as he went to leave with Natsu.
“I am the dragon slayer Lord Baldric Steelgrave, Captain of the Guards to the King of Edolas and I challenge you to an Alpha battle. That is what you want and thus you will get one, but you are not taking that boy anywhere.”
Baldric said and Laxus dropped Natsu as Mystogan caught Natsu before he hit the ground taking the boy to the infirmary as Jet and Droy helped carry Gajeel with him.
“Don’t take Natsu too far since when I am done I will finish this with him Mystogan. There can only be one Alpha.’
“I guess it is you and me pretty boy. Just don’t cry too much when I ruin your face although I bet that is why you wear a mask since you are too chicken to face me without it.”
Laxus said to Baldric as Baldric prepared himself for battle. Baldric wasn’t going to fall for that barb. He wore the mask for a reason and he wasn’t going to take it off just to appease the bastard in front of him.
As the two squared off people were freaking out since Natsu and Gajeel had already made such a mess of the town that the townspeople were worried there would be nothing left if these two fought.
Laxus pulled out all his powers ready to pummel this asshole into the ground only for Baldric to stare at Laxus without a care in the world. He had hoped Laxus was going to energize himself up. It would make this go so much faster.
As Laxus went to attack Baldric did a spell that drained all of Laxus’ powers from him as he sucked them into a vortex then with two hands he closed the vortex and slammed Laxus with two fireballs before the man could do anything and just as Laxus thought it was all over for him Baldric shocked everyone by changing his magic to ice as he froze Laxus solid into a block of ice. Gray watched the man in awe knowing that was ice maker magic, but then Baldric chanted a spell and the ice block changed into a pool of water dousing Laxus who was freezing at this point only for Baldric to fill his lungs with air blowing out as the spell spun Laxus up in the air spinning him in a tornado pattern as now Baldric had used three elemental powers and before he decided to give Laxus his powers back he blasted Laxus with sand from his belly knocking the young man out after which he opened the vortex and blasted Laxus with his own powers giving them back to the man who fell into unconsciousness.
“I do not tolerate bullies.”
Baldric said as he left Laxus on the ground and went with Mystogan back to Edolas. He would check up on Natsu later when he wasn’t on duty. He was the Alpha dragon slayer and if any one questioned it he would put them in their place. If Natsu wanted to fight him for the title he would fight him fair and square, but no one was to battle a boy who could not stand on his own two feet. The boy had fought bravely and deserved a little respect.
Gray then knew who the Alpha dragon slayer was and Natsu couldn’t beat that guy. He had awesome power and to call up four elemental powers like he did was amazing. He had also drained Laxus of all his powers before he pummeled him which seemed damn near impossible. Gray knew he would not want to fuck with Baldric.
Lucy had come out to see the fight and was in awe of Baldric since the guy was so very powerful and so very sexy. He pulled out powers that one could only dream of having. It made her wonder why he needed to be a guard for Mystogan since the guy could have probably taken over as ruler of Edolas. However he seemed to be content being Mystogan’s guard and he always wore that mask making Lucy wonder what he looked like underneath it.
Laxus had Fried drag him to the infirmary since his poor mate could not lift the huge man and no one seemed to want to help. Lucy decided to help Fried even if she didn’t like Laxus too well. The guy was a jerk sometimes, but he was still family. Fried thanked Lucy for her help as they took the unconscious man into the infirmary not very easily either and practically threw him on the bed next to Natsu and Gajeel who Jet and Droy had carried into the infirmary. All three dragon slayers were a mess. Mirajane had Lucy help her as she cleaned the wounds and wrapped the men in bandages from head to toe.
Really for what Baldric had done to Laxus his wounds were the least severe and thus he would be able to walk out of the infirmary most likely when he awoke. Fried sat next to Laxus thanking Lucy for her help although he did not understand his mate some days. Fried loved Laxus, but the man needed to work on some things otherwise Fried would end up avoiding him since he was starting to become embarrassed by him. Maybe what Baldric did would knock some sense into the man.
After about an hour passed Laxus awoke to Fried frowning down at him. Laxus looked away in embarrassment. He knew he was in trouble with his mate and that he deserved to have the crap beaten out of him. He did not know why he was such an ass some days; he just felt the need to be powerful. Now he knew at least one thing. He was not the Alpha dragon slayer and most likely would never be.
Laxus knew Natsu wanted to still fight him and he would give the boy a fight worth talking about if the boy wanted to fight with him since they still had to do so. However he would not take the role of Alpha. He was beaten and now that much was over. As long as Baldric was alive Laxus would be second best fighter unless Natsu beat him.
Natsu was impressive, but alone he knew the boy could not beat him. Last fight it had taken both Gajeel and Natsu to beat him, and that had been partially dumb luck. Natsu had beaten him once by himself, but Laxus had also been fairly drunk at that time. As far as here on Earth-land until Natsu beat him he was still first as a dragon slayer.
“You need to stop being so damn power hungry Laxus. It is affecting your ability to rationalize and it looks bad on the guild. I don’t want to lose our family here because you decided to get a big head. If you want the guild to look good and eventually be able to take over as guild master you are going to have to show some restraint.”
Fried said since Master Dreyar now had to think about retirement. He was getting older and if Laxus really wanted to be guild master he needed to be more like his Grandfather. That meant earning the guild member’s respect and not acting like a power hungry tyrant.
“I am sorry Fried. I don’t know what has been coming over me lately. I just feel like my control is slipping. When I was being taught by the dragon Grandine the powers of lightning, I was so focused on gaining power and becoming strong like my Father and Grandfather. I wanted to be a powerful wizard which I think was the reason Grandine abandoned me. Grandine also had another pupil who I did not know about and since I was not a foster child like Natsu and Gajeel was when I was trained for last time before the dragons disappeared. Wendy was her other pupil and her foster child. I was merely a pupil with less worth than she otherwise why would Grandine spend so little time with me?”
Laxus said in frustration as he tried not to cry at the fact his teacher abandoned him just like his Father and eventually he abandoned his Grandfather over power.
“Laxus you always had a family, you had me Evergreen and Bickslow. You also had your Grandfather which was more than some of us had. Most of us found this guild to be our family since we did not have any or we ran away like Lucy.’
“I consider you my family Laxus and I love you. I just don’t understand you some days. I swore I would follow you to the ends of the earth and when I said that I meant it. However, if you persist in being such a selfish asshole I will do so not speaking to you ever again.”
Fried said honestly since he talked rarely as it was. Laxus nodded and got up with Fried’s help since he was still very sore and tired. They would go home for a while and hope the storm settled a bit.
