Note: It's time to check up on Shiro and see what he's been doing since Operation Book Snatcher. As you remember from chapter five, during the operation, he had a run-in with Xyaqom. Shiro was able to keep Xyaqom busy for a short time. However, he got overconfident and found himself too close to Xyaqom, giving him just enough range to smack him using his tail. Since then, Shiro has been unconscious since Operation Book Snatcher, and in this chapter, he is just beginning to wake up and foresee the consequences of his actions, assuming if there will be.
Also, before we start on this chapter, I would like to thank Axel Emiya for helping me put this chapter together and beta-reading it. So go check out his stories after you are finished reading this chapter. And if you are looking for a beta reader, also see him. He is an awesome beta reader.
With no further ado, let's get started on this chapter.
Warning: This story is NOT for readers under the age of eighteen. The story will have coarse language, violence, nudity (including the private parts), and sexual scenes. (Including sex scenes). Chapter Eight:
September 16th, 2017:
Falsely Arrested?!:
After his battle against Xyaqom, Shiro was knocked out and taken into custody. Here we see Shiro starting to wake up in a cell and wearing a straight jacket.
"Ugh! What happened!?" He looks down and sees his new clothes, "Ah damn it, I lost..."
"So, you're finally awake," said Johnathan, sitting across from him outside his cell.
"Who are you? And where am I?" Asked Shiro, looking around.
"My name is Jonathan Livings, the Christale City Police Department chief. And you are in the basement of our department. I must say, I thought Xyaqom put you into a coma since you've been out for eight days."
"Excuse me... eight days?! As in, a whole week?!"
"A little over a week, but yes. When Xyaqom slapped you with his tail, he sent you flying headfirst into a tree, knocking you out cold. I'm surprised you're still alive after getting a hit like that. Most people would be dead by now."
"Meh, it's not the first time I escaped death before. I doubt it'll be the last."
"What do you mean?"
"Never mind. Can I please go?"
"You think I will just let you go after that fiasco at the museum? I don't know about you, but you have a lot to answer for."
"Hmm, what's that phrase you cops always use to arrest people? Ah, yes, I have the right to remain silent, right? You can talk to my attorney after my free phone call. In the meantime, I'm gonna take a nap!" Said Shiro as he slammed his head on the pillow.
Shiro still hasn't recovered enough aura from the earlier battle against Xyaqom.
"You've been out for eight days. How much sleep do you need?"
Shiro groans, "Bite me. You're not the one who had to fight an intergalactic space assassin. I'd like to see you come out on top like it's no big deal."
"But you were arrested. Clearly, you didn't come out on top.
"I'm still alive... that's gotta count for something, right?"
"Not really. It just means you're going to prison, alive."
A mysterious man entered the room; he was 6'2 feet tall and weighed 195 pounds. He had short grey hair and was wearing black glasses. He also wore a dark blue business suit and had a grey briefcase.
"That won't be necessary, Mr. Livings, because Mr. Yuuma won't be going to prison," said the man.
Johnathan stands up and sees who spoke and spoke in an angry tone, "YOU!? What are YOU doing here?! Only authorized personnel are allowed down here!"
"It's about time. I was seriously thinking I was gonna go to prison."
"I'm the lawyer representing Mr. Yuuma in court," said the man.
"YOU WILL?!" Shouted Johnathan in an angry tone.
"Um... I'm sorry, but what is your name?" Asked Shiro.
"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners? My name is Hank Briggs. I'm going to be your defense lawyer for this case."
"Why?! You're already Jason Winterson's lawyer, who you've been his lawyer for years! Why do you want to represent this kid?" Asked Johnathan.
"To put it quite bluntly, Mr. Livings, my client, was clearly falsely arrested,"
"That's right, you tell him!" Shouted Shiro.
"Falsely arrested? Ha! Don't make me laugh. This boy was arrested for breaking and entering and robbery. And yet, you claim that he was falsely arrested? Give me a break. Now, I know that you will not drop this, and it will persist. So I will allow you to become his lawyer. But let me tell you that you're fighting a losing battle right now. I'll see you two in court," said Johnathan and tried to leave.
"Sit down, Mr. Livings. If you think I'm fighting a losing battle, by all means, I'll explain in a way a child can understand," said Hank.
Johnathan felt insulted and disrespected by Hank's comment, "Are you calling me a child, Mr. Briggs? I'll have you know that I've been in the police force for over twenty years, and I can tell the difference between a criminal to an innocent man. And Mr. Yuuma isn't innocent!"
"By all means, I mean no offense, Mr. Livings. But my child uses the same argument to whine and complain unless things go his way. And do you know what I say to him? Grow a pair, then we'll talk," said Hank.
Shiro whistles, "Oh, burn! I don't know about you guys, but this is the best kind of entertainment."
"Stay out of this!" Snapped Hank and Johnathan.
"Tch, killjoy," said Shiro as he turned his head.
"If I were you, I'd carefully pick my next set of words, Mr. Briggs. Because you are just a shout away from having my men drag you out of this building!" Said Johnathan, as his patience with Hank was running thin.
"There is no need for empty threats, Mr. Livings. As I told you, I'm here to prove Mr. Yumma's innocence. If you would allow me a laptop," said Hank.
Johnathan sighs in frustration. "Fine. I'll let you amuse me," He then turns his head to an officer, "Hey Bob!"
"Yeah?"
Johnathan points at Hank, "Give this guy your laptop."
"Aw, I'm about to break my record at Pac-Man."
"Bob!"
"Okay, okay," Bob then carries the laptop to Hank.
"Is it really okay for police to play games during interrogations?" Asked Shiro.
"Not now, Mr. Yuuma," said Hank as he opened the laptop and put a disc inside, "Mr. Livings, what I'm about to show you, is security footage taken from the museum that night."
At exactly 12:00, seven security guards were seen guarding the book as the job entitled in one footage. At 12:05, a blackout occurred, and the seven guards were knocked out along with the guards. A shadowy figure stole the book.
"There, you see?! The act of the crime scene!" Shouted Johnathan.
"That's where you're wrong, Mr. Livings. Because Mr. Yumma never appears until after the book was already stolen. At 12:10," The footage of Shiro handing the book over to the girls was obviously edited out, "Shiro confronted the actual thefts. However, it was whenXyaqom showed. At 12:11, Xyaqom and Shiro fight," Johnathan wasn't quite sold on this, "Now, isn't it weird that Xyaqom showed up when he did? Instead of asking questions, he immediately mistook Mr. Yuuma for the thief and attacked him on the spot. How was Mr. Yumma supposed to respond? Of course, the answer is self-defense," said Hank.
"THIS IS BULLSHIT!" Shouted Johnathan. "That footage is obviously edited. Do you seriously think I can't tell the difference between edited footage and the real thing?! There is a reason why I've been in force for over twenty years. I've seen fake evidence of the real thing. I know ALL the ins and out. Xyaqom told me that HE (Meaning Shiro) had the book and gave it to those thieves, his friends, by the way!"
'Damn, he can tell if the footage was edited by just looking at it? I may have underestimated him,' said Shiro in his thoughts.
"How do you know that Xyaqom is telling the truth and that he's not lying to you?" Asked Hank.
"I've known Xyaqom for over nine years now. He's like a son to me. He's never lied to me. Why would he start now?" Asked Johnathan.
"Obviously, he's using your trust for his gain," said Hank.
Johnathan chuckles, "Okay, I'll play your little game for a bit. Let's say, hypothetically, that Shiro didn't steal the book and that he was trying to stop those thieves. If that was the case, explain why Shiro was inside the museum, to begin with?!" Asked Johnathan. Both Shiro and Hanks are shocked to learn that Johnathan was able to catch on, "Because last I checked, the museum closes at 9:00, and from what I saw in the footage, it was about 12:00 when this all went down," said Johnathan as Shiro and Hanks start to sweat, "So, what I would like to know is what was Shiro doing in the museum AFTER closing time?!"
'Damn, this guy is good. He cannot only tell that the footage is edited, but he also cached that I was in the museum three hours after it closed. I sure hope Hank can think of a good excuse. Because as far as I know, Johnathan just turned the tables on us,' said Shiro in his thoughts.
Hank chuckles nervously, "You're a bit slow on the uptake. Obviously, he was on a date."
"A date!?" Asked both Shiro and Johnathan in shock.
Shiro notices Jonathan staring at him and starts to sweat, "I... Er, I mean... Yeah, of course I was! I heard a lot of interesting stuff at the museum. So I asked a girl from school if she wanted to come with me that day."
"Any further questions, Mr. Livings?" Asked Hank.
"Okay, if he really was on a date, what was he doing in the museum at 12:00 am when he should have left three hours prior?!" Asked Johnathan, starting to get irritated.
"We... Um... Uh... Lost track of time?" Asked Shiro, starting to get nervous.
"Lost track of time?" Johnathan groans, "You've got to be kidding me," said Johnathan under his breath, "Did you not hear the PA system going off and telling the visitors that they had to leave soon? I'm pretty sure the PA system always goes off five minutes before closing time!" Johnathon exclaimed.
"If he weren't there, the book would've been stolen. Mr. Yumma is an innocent bystander who was caught at the wrong place and time. But that doesn't change anything; he didn't steal the book; he was trying to protect it!" Hank exclaimed.
Shiro stands up, "That's right... I would never steal something that doesn't belong to me! That's because... I'm an architect, a fanatic! IN OTHER WORDS... I'M AN OTAKU! MUSEUMS ARE PRACTICALLY MY HOME!" Shouted Shiro with great pride, 'GODDAMMIT! I've said something really embarrassing!' Said Shiro in his thoughts.
The room stood silent, unable to process what they had just heard...
Johnathan sighs, "Okay, let's say he was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was still in the museum after it closed. So technically, he is charged with breaking and entering."
"A simple misdemeanor can be paid through the legal fees of the court system. Simple enough. We'll be happy to pay for any felony charges to be dropped entirely. So long, of course, this stays off Mr. Yuuma's court record. We won't want any more problems. Is this agreeable, Mr. Livings?" Asked Hank.
Johnathan growls out of frustration, "I'll allow this... For now. But you better hope I don't find that you've been lying to my face and tampering with evidence this whole time. Or else there will be hell to pay. Understood?" Johnathan asked.
Hanks smirks, "Crystal."
"Very well, then. You may pay your fine at the front desk. Now, if you excuse me, I got other matters to attend to. Excuse me," said Johnathan and turned to leave.
"Phew! That was really close. I thought I really was going to prison!" Said Shiro as he took a sigh of relief.
Hank smiles, "Naturally, that was child's play... Mr. Otaku."
Shiro blushes with steam bursting out of his head, "S-Shut up... it was the only thing I could think of at that moment!"
"Well, either way, I believe it's best that you stay low for a while and not get into any more trouble. Eventually, this whole thing will blow over."
"Yeah, considering that Xyaqom guy might be watching over me. You may be right. Still, though... I would love to see his face once he realizes I got bailed out of jail. Priceless, I'd imagine," grind Shiro.
"Anyways, once you get out, I highly recommend that you go see Cassandra. She's been awfully worried about you since that night."
"Cassandra sent you?"
"Of course, she did. I've been her father's lawyer for many years. I mostly help him get out of trouble or sue someone for stealing his work."
"You and Cassandra sure do talk about her father a lot. What about her mother? Hasn't she done anything noteworthy?"
"Oh, I thought she already told you," said Hank, shocked that Shiro didn't know.
"Told me what?"
"Cassandra's mother died when she was at a young age. I believe she was only five years old when she passed," said Hank, talking in a sad tone.
Shiro becomes shocked at the news, "I-I'm sorry," he frowns. I had no idea... the way she always smiles. I see now; she has it rough too."
Just then, a cop walks up to Shiro's cell, "Are you Mashiro Yuuma?"
Shiro raises his hand, "That's me; you need something?
"I've been ordered to let you out," said the cop.
The cop walks up to Shiro's cell, takes out his keys, and unlocks the cell, letting Shiro out.
Shiro cheers, "Yes! Sweat freedom at long last!"
"Please follow me to the front desk," said the cop.
"Sure, lead the way," said Shiro.
The cop and Shiro go to the elevator and go to the first floor. When the elevator opened, it showed another at the other end.
"I did not hit her. It's not true, it's bullshit, I did not hit her. The cops slam his water bottle to the floor, "I did not. He then sees the cop next to Shiro, "Oh, hi, Mark."
"Hey, Tom," said Mark, looking at Shiro, "This way."
"O-Okay... he then looks at Tom, "Weirdo," Whispered Shiro.
The cop and Shiro walk up to the front desk, where they see the secretary talking on the phone.
"Wait here. Your bailer will see you out," said Mark.
"My bailer? Wait, you don't mean..."
Just then, Cassandra stepped through the doors. She wore a white t-shirt with some cleavage, a purple bra, and a purple mini-skirt with light purple panties. When she saw Shiro, the first thing she did was run up to him and hug him, making her breasts be pushed against his chest.
Cassandra hugs Shiro, pushing her soft breast against his chest, "Shiro, thank goodness you're okay!"
When he feels Cassandra's soft and squishy breasts being pushed on his chest, Shiro blushes, " Ow, ow! Boobs! I mean, Cassandra! Careful, I'm still hurting all over!"
"Oh," Cassandra pulls away from Shiro, "Sorry. Thank God you're okay, though. We all feared the worst."
"It's all thanks to the crazy lawyer you hired. He certainly knew how to get underneath the police's skin," said Shiro.
"Yes, he's been my father's lawyer for many years. If any lawyer can get you out, it's him. Come, we have much to discuss," said Cassandra as they entered the limo.
"So... What happens now?" Asked Shiro.
"We go back home and recuperate. You must be starving after not eating for eight days."
"What, but I'm not that hungry..." That's when Shiro's stomach starts growling.
Cassandra smiles, "You were saying?"
"S-Shut up! Fine, I guess I could use something to eat," said Shiro in an embarrassed tone.
"Very well, then," giggled Cassandra.
The limo then takes off.
