"Gentlemen," Iason said, greeting Orphe, Gideon and Marcus as they joined him in the conference room high up in Jupiter tower. "I hope none of you had any difficulties with your mongrels after last night's events?"
"Violet's flamboyant display is still a hot topic of conversation in Midas," Orphe darkly commented as he took his seat.
Iason nodded elegantly. "Yes. Your mongrel was Riki's vibrant 'plume', so to speak. He was meant to draw attention away from the groups going into the city, and give cover to the others should they so have needed it. The duty of Gideon's pet was to enrich the area around the mongrel, and make the level of his appeal higher than it already is."
"Rumors have already spread. Violet's involvement in this mad scheme of Riki's—"
"Is necessary," Iason interjected. "The rumors circulating around your mongrel are of your own making, and would have had been easily avoidable if you or Sir Gideon had sent someone other than yourselves to collect the pets."
"Jade's talents would have made sending outside enforcements useless," Gideon said.
"In what way?" Marcus asked suspiciously. "Why would your pet, Gideon, affect people more than Orphe's? For a mongrel, the violet-haired young man is visually stimulating, more so than a great deal of the pets here in Eos."
Iason smiled slightly in amusement as Gideon and Orphe met Marcus's narrowed gaze.
"Orphe's mongrel is also astonishingly charming. Compare Gideon's pure-bred pet to the uncivilized ape, we all can agree that it is Sir Zavi's mutt whose genetics reign supreme," Marcus said. "So what 'talents' could your pet have to overshadow those of the mongrel, Gideon?"
Iason raised a brow when Gideon's eyes turned in his direction.
"Jade may appear timid—" Gideon ignored Marcus's snort—"Even so, like his sire, my pet has a way about him, and, should he choose to utilize it, has the ability to outshine anyone and bring them to their knees."
Iason silently applauded Gideon's evasion of Marcus's questions, and the obvious affection the Blondie had for Riki's offspring.
"Sire?" Marcus asked. "And who was the stallion?"
"Riki," Iason answered. "Jade is the product of Jupiter stealing the seed of my mongrel." He smiled at the shocked expressions on Orphe and Marcus's faces.
"Why would Jupiter do such a thing?" Marcus demanded.
"I assume her reasons coincide with why she has allowed the mongrels of my pet's gang to enter the front doors of Eos," replied Iason. "Riki… Riki is special. However, only recently did I learn just how special he is."
Iason leaned back and watched the two Blondie's soak up this little bit of chaos, which was only the tip of the iceberg of what he was dealing with. "Many things have yet to be uncovered about what her plans are."
"Why are you telling us this only now?" Orphe asked, angered.
"You encouraged us into claiming the mongrels as our own," Marcus said. "You manipulated us, tempted us with whispered rumors of forbidden pleasure, like you find in Riki, because you knew we would side with you to protect them."
Iason nodded elegantly. "A small gamble with an even greater return. You all have benefited from my insignificant deception." Iason turned his eyes to Orphe. "The reason for my admission is simple; Jupiter is planning something, and I believe her allowance of the mongrels' continued approval here in Eos, is evidence enough that it involves those that are now precious to us."
"Should we not wait for the rest?" Gideon asked, referring to Mikhale, Raoul and Aisha.
"How much to you know, Gideon?" Orphe asked, glaring at the Blondie.
"Gideon," Iason said, "knows only of whose loins his pet hailed from. Other than that he knows just about as much as you and Marcus. Raoul and Mikhale, on the other hand, are aware of the situation to a larger degree than the three of you. Aisha will have to be brought up to speed later."
Iason studied the three Blondies before continuing. "Before Eos was attacked by that crazed mongrel, I discovered some disturbing information about Riki… and unsanctioned tests being done to him, ordered by Jupiter."
Marcus frowned. "What kind of tests?"
"The kind that gave life to Jade, Riki's son," Iason replied. "In the first three years of his life as my pet, Riki had been suffering under Jupiter's microscope without my knowledge. In most cases, from what I know from my investigation, Riki did not know Jupiter was doing these things to him."
"What does she want?" Orphe asked.
"I do not know." Iason rested his chin on his interlaced fingers. "However, I suspect her interest has expanded to the other mongrels. She is looking for something, and whatever it may be, it now has to do with them. The fact that she has not stepped forward, once the threat of an assassination attempt on an Elite's life was revealed, tells me that what she is searching for is worth the termination of one of us."
There was a moment of silence.
"She would sacrifice one of us?" Orphe whispered in disbelief.
"She assisted in Riki's escape," Iason reminded Orphe. "She injected nanites into my mongrel so that she'd be able to find him regardless of where he was, and I believe that is also why she withdrew from us. She needed all of her energy to track him."
"What could she possibly want with a mongrel?" Marcus asked.
"She had her personal servants secretly take vast amounts of blood from Riki over the years, testing it," Iason said grimly. "Riki's blood baffles Raoul, and no doubt it did the same to the scientists I had come close to locating, which is why so much blood was taken from him."
"But a mongrel?" Orphe shook his head. "You say he's special, and to some point I will agree with you, but…"
"Is he a mongrel? Look at the members of his gang, and then compare them to Riki. He is different, and not just because of his appearance or demeanor. He was not born in the breeding houses in Guardian." Iason looked each Blondie in the eye, holding their gaze for a moment so that the impact of his words stuck to them.
"You are not suggesting he is from the upper cities, are you?" Orphe asked.
"If he had been, he would have been born at one of the bio centers. Riki's genetic code would have been listed, and it is not." Iason shook his head. "Riki appeared from nowhere one day in front of the gates of Guardian. In his record, it is said that the guards who found him have no memory of seeing anyone other than Riki… Their recollection of his appearance was hazy when questioned by their superiors twenty years ago."
"The two guards who found Riki were reassigned after they destroyed the surveillance video of Riki's arrival. When asked about their offence, they could not remember anything they had done. They acted as if someone had been controlling them." Iason looked at Gideon when he imparted that last bit of information.
"What does this have to do with my Keita?" Marcus asked. "Everything you have shared with us has to do with Riki. You say Jupiter has plans for all the mongrels, but I have heard nothing to convince me it is true."
Iason smiled, and held his hand out in greeting to the Blondie that stepped into the door. "Sir Gabriel Lazen, thank you for joining me at my request. You are just on time."
The Blondie bowed his head in acknowledgment, and took a seat. "May I ask the nature of why I was ordered here today?"
"To prove a point," said Iason. "Tell me, Gabriel. How did you obtain ownership of Raoul's Furniture?"
Gabriel's eyes narrowed. "Through persuasive negotiations."
Iason chuckled. "Yes, of course. Could you also have taken him away from Raoul because you discovered Niko was a mongrel, born and raised in Guardian, who was then trained in that facility to become the Furniture of an Elite? And you used that information to blackmail Raoul into giving him to you?"
"Possibly," Gabriel replied. "May I ask why you are bringing this subject up?"
"Ten years ago, Jupiter approved for over thirty Furniture to be chemically castrated. I have never heard of something like this during the time I've been alive," said Iason.
"Proves nothing," Marcus said.
"It does if all the 'participants' were showing characteristics that had never been encountered in mongrels before Riki's time in Guardian." Iason leaned forward. "All the Furniture involved in the chemical castration process were apart of a group, which Riki was in someway also apart of. However, because of Riki’s uncontrollable attitude, his file wasn’t handed over over as a potential candidate by the center’s officials,, and so he went unnoticed."
"And then you came along," Orphe sighed.
"Correct." Iason leaned back into his chair once more. "Niko was part of Riki's small group in Guardian. From what Riki has told me, all the mongrels we've claimed as our property were a part of that group."
Iason retrieved a white sheet of paper from his side. "Today, only a handful of Furniture are left in the program, their sexual drives medically kept under control; and those still in Eos now had more than a bit of contact with Riki when he was a child."
"What are you implying?" Gabriel said.
Iason glanced at Gabriel, and held out the paper in his hand. "Seems that Niko is due to have a complete checkup later in the week. None of the other Furniture of his class has ever been given this kind of physical."
Gabriel took the paper. "I agreed to no such thing. What would Jupiter think to find in Niko's examination?"
"Files I've uncovered talk about an 'infection' of sorts." Iason's brows furrowed. "There are those who've benefitted from this…virus. Some have no reaction, and then there are some who have become crazed."
"So you think Jupiter has distributed this virus, and is now waiting to see which mongrel has been affected in a 'good' way?" Gideon asked.
Iason nodded. "Yes. I've held back this information because, at first, it had nothing to do with any one of you. This 'problem' was my own to deal with."
"But you needed even more power than you currently had if you were going to oppose Jupiter," Orphe said. "So when Violet, and the others, were identified as mongrels—like Marcus said—you manipulated us, heightened our interest, so that when you first mentioned the threat Jupiter could be to them, we'd be in your 'back pocket', as Violet would put it."
"If your mongrel was being harmed, and the threat of someone taking him away from you was real, how far would you go to keep him safe?" Iason asked, redirecting Orphe's question. "I have information, that predates the existence of Elites, about a search for people who held similarities with what she's found in Riki. Jupiter will not stop, and if we are not diligent, she might take from us those we hold dear."
"What do you want from us?" Marcus asked. "I, for one, will not let anyone take Keita away from me, not even Jupiter."
Orphe agreed, "Nor I."
Gideon nodded. "Our… relationships may not be as old as you and Riki's, but I think all of us will agree that we will fight to hold onto them just as you do with your mongrel."
Iason smiled, and rested his chin back on his interlaced hands. "Excellent. Then, gentlemen, I believe we have much to discuss."
oOoOoOo
Tired, Riki flopped down on the plush lobby sofa. Ignoring the glares from pets and their masters, he groaned as he laid his head back. Iason was probably already up in Jupiter Tower telling the other Blondies of the shit that was going on under their noses.
Hell, the crap Iason had revealed to him had him wanting to kill someone. Riki wanted to make sure he was out of Eos with the gang before that happened. It hadn't helped that when he went to pick Jade up, Gideon had appeared and informed him that Jade was incapable of joining in on their day's hunt. From the Blondie's swollen lips and the hickies Riki saw on the Elite's chest, peeking through the opening of his robe, Riki completely understood why.
It took all he had not to deck Gideon in the face for deflowering his kid. It wasn't the first time Jade had sex, Riki knew that, but those past experiences were before Riki had found out the boy was his kid.
But it was for the best. While Riki would have appreciated Jade's skill, it was best if the kid was safe in Eos. Now that all the gangs of Ceres knew he was gunning for the mongrel crown, so to speak, Riki didn't wanna worry about Jade getting knifed.
Iason said he'd keep secret the real plans of why he and his crew were running around outside, but Riki wasn't going to take any chances. Him and his boys had to take control of the gangs in Ceres, and find the prick who was taking mongrels, before his whole operation was shut down by a bunch of domineering Elites.
However, if he moved too fast, then everything his boys had worked for yesterday would crumble to nothing. Mongrels were paranoid motherfuckers, with itchy trigger fingers. The last thing Riki wanted was unnecessary bloodshed.
"You look like you had one hell of a night, like I did," V groaned as he took the seat next to Riki.
"What did you find out last night?" Riki asked.
Amethyst eyes narrowed. "What? No 'Yeah, V, you doing good man? You look like shit, dude.'"
Riki smirked. "Wake up on the wrong side of the bed, did ya?"
V snorted. "More like I struggled not to get my ass raped again by that fucking insatiable beast that calls me an uncivilized barbarian."
Worried about the fatigue he saw in V's face, Riki said, "You okay to roll today? You actually really do look like shit."
V sighed, rubbing his hand down his tired face. "Fuck… When Orphe wants something… Shit, man, he won't let up until he gets it…"
Riki wanted to ask, but couldn't bring himself to open his mouth. He didn't want to embarrass V, if the shit Orphe did to him was anything like the crap Iason did if his Blondie wanted answers and Riki resisted.
However, Riki needed to know how much V had told Orphe.
"So—"
“So, I totally ended up blabbing everything I did with Niko, and why, to Marcus last night,” Fidget said, suddenly appearing from nowhere. “Oh, and we got all down and dirty in the elevator. I’m talkin’ full on penetration. There was licking, and sucking and Marcus did this trick with his dick—“
“Shut up!” V growled. “Like we all wanna hear what kinda kinky sex you and that Blondie of yours have.”
“Oh baby, the sweet lovin’ I had last night, it went well beyond kinky. Marcus used my body like a well played organ, and the things he did to my organ…” Fidget sighed with happiness. “I can only hope I get into even more trouble today, so that he’ll spank me again.”
Riki pressed the corners of his eyes with his thumb and index finger, hoping to ward off the headache he could feel coming on. “You told Marcus everything?”
Fidget grinned sheepishly. “Not everything everything, but enough that you would consider it as everything. You don’t understand. He did these things with his fingers and tongue that had me answering questions I didn’t know he'd asked until the words were already out of my mouth. How can he know how to do those things if I’m the first lay he’s ever had?”
Riki turned to V. The hesitation he had a moment ago was gone. “What about you? Did you say anything to Orphe?” He watched as V’s high cheekbones flooded with color.
“Orphe was more concerned in making me say… err… other things than getting me to talk about why I was in the bar with Jade,” mumbled V.
“So you didn't tell him anything?” Riki asked.
V avoided looking him directly in the eyes. “Ah… I didn't tell him anything important. Unlike Fidget, I kept my mouth closed… Mostly.”
Fidget snorted. “Don’t be tryin’ to pass the buck, boyo. You either said something or you didn’t. Just admit you were a bitch and cried to Orphe about what we did, in hopes that you wouldn’t get punished.”
Riki blocked V from attacking Fidget. "Mostly? What did you tell him, V?" He never thought he'd seen a person's face get as red as V's did.
"I don't wanna talk about it," V growled. "It's not important."
"Ooohh." Fidget grinned evilly. "Did you break down and tell the Blondie how much you wub him?"
V's eyes widened. "N-No!"
Riki stopped Fidget from teasing V. He knew that look. He'd seen it on his own face a million times in the mirror, when Iason released him and he finally had a chance to run and hide in the bathroom or elsewhere.
He didn't know what was going on between his boys and their Blondies behind closed doors, but the one thing he did know now was that Orphe had just took his relationship with V to the next level. Shit was going to get harder now if Orphe forced V to tell him he loved him.
"Orphe moves fast," Riki muttered earning a glare from V, who was close enough to hear his comment.
Glancing at Fidget, Riki noted the love bite on the peppy mongrel's neck. Fidget was a runner—a very efficient escape artist. Marcus probably already knew that, if he took the same course as Orphe had in order to control V, he wouldn't be able to catch Fidget, if the mongrel decided to take off.
"It's not like I didn't know this was going to happen," Riki sighed. However, he had hoped it would be later rather than sooner. It had taken Iason and him three years of fighting and a near death experience before they… Well, they were still working on the "I own you. You can't do anything unless I say so," but Riki had hoped the other Elites would take just as much time to sort out their own feelings.
Was it because they already knew about Iason and him, and that's the reason why they were moving forward so fast with his gang? Because they wanted the same thing ? "Yeah, Iason and I are real poster boys for reform."
"What?" V and Fidget looked at Riki.
Riki shook his head. "Nothing. What did Marcus say when you told him?"
Fidget shrugged. "He said not to burn any more factories down, and to call him—" Fidget held up a cell phone—"if I get into any trouble. I had him promise not to say anything to anyone, and if he keeps his word, then I swore to be real nice to him when I get back tonight."
Staring at the cell, Riki wondered if he should tell Fidget that the phone had a GPS tracking device that could track the mongrel anywhere on the planet. He knew this because he had the same kind of phone in his back pocket, that Iason had given to him.
However, unlike Fidget's Blondie, his Elite had told him of the chip in the phone and warned him of what he'd do to him if Riki so much as tampered, or threw away, his cell.
"So Marcus knows…" The time frame Riki thought they had dwindled.
"Don't worry," Fidget said. "I let it slip that I might cause a lot of trouble if I wasn't allowed to come out and play with you all. I might also do many, many naughty things to him in front of his friends, if he thought to lock me up."
"If it were me, I'd just beat the shit out of you," V muttered.
Riki said nothing, his attention focused on the stone-faced Blondie striding towards him with Lilly hot on his heels. "Fuck…"
Standing, Riki nodded to Mikhale as he stopped less than a foot away from him. "Mik," Riki said in greeting, earning him a glare. "What's up, yo?"
"What is up, is this asinine plan you've involved Lilly in," Mikhale hissed.
"I'm sorry, Riki," whispered Lilly from Mikhale's side.
Riki waved away Lilly's apology. "I'm guessing because you're here with Lilly, you're going to let him come with us?"
Aqua eyes narrowed. "Against better judgment, I have decided to trust that you will do everything in your power to make sure no harm comes to him."
"None," Riki said. "We protect our own, and Lilly has proven to be one of us."
Mikhale's lip curled in disgust. "He is worth more than all of you combined."
"And I'm sure Iason would say the same about me." Riki grinned mockingly. "As would Marcus, about my boy Fidget, and Orphe would about V. The point," Riki said, stopping Mikhale when the Blondie took a step towards him. "The point is that I got a lot to worry about, and you getting in my face isn't going to help."
Riki wanted to poke fun at the Blondie, but with the seconds ticking quickly by he didn't have time to mess with Mikhale. "I've got his back," Riki said soberly. "I'll make sure he comes back to you."
Mikhale stared at Riki for a long and tension-filled moment before nodding, and turning to Lilly. The Blondie caressed the side of his pet's face, whispering something Riki couldn't hear, before walking away.
"Well, that wasn't scary at all," V said. "I seriously thought the Blondie was going to rip your head off, Riki."
Massaging the stiffness in his shoulder Riki sighed, "You haven't been around Elites as long as I have. As pissed as Mikhale was, he wouldn't have hurt me."
"Because Iason would retaliate," Lilly said, taking the seat Riki had been sitting in.
Riki grimily agreed. If Mikhale had hurt him, Iason would have gone for the other Blondie's heart… And looking at Lilly, Riki knew where Mikhale's heart lay.
"Look! There's Keito!"
From the floor to ceiling windows, Riki watched Sky walk to the entrance of Eos with Aisha close to his side.
"We've got a problem, Riki," V whispered, coming to stand next to him, and nodding in Fidget's direction.
The feisty mongrel was deadly quiet as he watched his twin, and a bad feeling fell over Riki when Fidget's eyes turned cold and hard as his brother glanced up at the Blondie, with a soft expression on his face.
