Tea with Death

Lord Patamon: Yeah, I didn't really have much to say. Lol. xD Accept maybe "Lol, okay." But, Davis and Jade were asleep a good few hours, and alot can happen in a few hours...xD We'll just ignore the fact that it might not work time wise. >.>; Lol. As for Ken, no they never knew eachother, but they seem to be hitting it off well, hmm? Maybe they're getting too well along? Maybe Jade's getting to know him TOO well. *Cough...*

Chapter Nine - "Tea with Death"

Hmm. It's obvious that this female is very dedicated to her little cause, but there's a streak of something in her soul, something I can use, manipulate - but to what end? How can I use her to any gain? I suppose I'll have to get to know her a fair bit more, hmm? Perhaps I'll use her to rip a hole in that digi-twerp's little heart. Steal his precious little girl. Her darkness, I see it inside her. Sure, this is a side track from my plan, but this is just too good a chance to pass up. She might even be a good value to me, in time. Yes, that's what I'll do, Wormmon...

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Jade asked, eyeing the genius upon floor afront the couch within her room. Her hands carried a tray into the poor excuse for a living room, filled with a pot of green tea, English biscuits, an two lone cups she'd found. She'd long since flicked on her little recorder, unbenknownst to the company.

"I was merely thinking about pretty your hair was." he spoke, waving a hand as if to pass it off. Jade raised a brow.

"Thanks. Took me all day when I did it." she replied, placing the tray on the table before him.

"Not at all, I'm not ignorant to a lady's efforts like most males."

"It can get annoying, I guess. I never paid much attention. Males have shining in other areas."

"Even so, don't you think that men should try and respect the efforts women make to look attractive?"

"I don't know. You can always tell when they like what you've done. Do they really need to acknowledge it?" she spoke, flopping softly into the armchair across from him.

"I think it shows effort if a man compliments the ladies. If I hadn't've commented your hair, you would have thought me strange if I said I had no reason for watching you."

"I guess. Do you often compliment women?"

"Only the pretty ones."

"So, you only compliment the aesthetically pleasing? Don't you think that those less than appealing make that much more of an effort to try and look pretty?"

"They shouldn't really bother. It's sort of like a cat trying to bark like a dog. People who enjoy dogs don't like cats, and it's even more strange to see a cat trying to be what it's not. So yes, I only compliment the attractive."

"That's almost as bad as saying that the less than pretty aren't worth your time. You're saying that they're posers for trying to look attractive?"

"Not at all. Some of the most wonderful people look like the aftermath of a rusty lawn mower pushed by a drunk monkey, or the love child of Cher and a sick donkey. But, you don't go telling the lovechild it's pretty becuase it stuck a flower behind it's ear.

"Well, that's a little sexist if you ask me."

"Much like how women only date certain breeds of men? Surely there are redeeming qualities in every male that make them worthwhile to date."

"That's true, but you're forgetting personality clash issue."

"Just as you're trying to get me to say lying to an unattractive female is acceptable."

"Touche." Jade smiled faintly, and reached out to pour herself a green tea, but Ken had beaten her to it.

"Please, let me. It's not right that the one who made it must serve as well." Jade laughed at him.

"That makes as much sense as not letting the one who bought the car to drive it. I'll never get chivalry, it's so weird."

"You're not one for pomp and frizz, are you? You prefer a more rock solid male who will tell you what he wants, correct?"

"Not really. I'd prefer a guy to just not treat me like some princess that needs to be tiptoed around, and for that matter, controlled."

"Ahh, a strong woman with a dark streak."

"Dark streak? Where do you get that from? I'm about as dark as a light bulb."

"Or so you think."

"Do you like women with a dark streak?"

"I like women with a will, with looks, and with an almost untameable wild heart. It makes me want to try and tame it, I suppose."

"So you only compliment cute women, and you only date wild women?"

"I guess you could put it like that...But I'm not entirely that superficial..."

"Hmmm. So, shall we start this interview?" she asked, reaching onto the side table for her note pad.

"Sure." Ken replied, before taking a sip from his tea. "Wonderful tea."

"Thanks, it's just some plants I picked when I was in the Mayan Ruins."

"It's surprising that Customs let you through with them."

"Lucky for me, I got the dumb botany-wise guard who believed me when I said they were plastic copies."

"Ha! Honestly, you'd think those morons would be trained more about that sort of thing. Anyone could bring in some deadly plants."

"Well enjoy it while it lasts, there isn't a lot. Let's start the interview with that, shall we? What's your favorite drink?"

"Such common intrigue...I prefer a good green tea, but I will drink almost anything that tastes adequate." Jade scribbled down his answer.

"Getting bored of the same old questions, hmm? I could ask something a bit more bold and pointed. How is it possible that you've been clocked running at 40 kph?"

"That's more like it, no one wants to read a news paper article on what the soccer-genius likes to drink. I can run like that because my muscles are alot more elasticized then most people."

"Curious. Have you always been as smart as you are, or did it just sort of strike one day?"

"A bit of both. I was always a smart child, but it seemed to grow exponentially a few years ago."

"What did you find the easiest to master, growing up?"

"Soccer. I've always had an affinity for the sport."

"Soccer. Do you get some sort of high from beating people at something you're impossibly good at?"

"I think everyone gets a high from it. It's human nature to seek victory."

"Do you seek victory more than most?"

"I strive to be my best, yes."

"Hmm. What-"

"Sorry," Ken interrupted, placing his cup down. "I actually can't really stay any later, I need to be awake early. Perhaps I could allow you some more time another day."

"Hmm, alright. I guess that's okay." she replied, scrawling her cell phone number on a page, tearing it off. "Here, call me whenever." she spoke, and genius took the slip.

"You make yourself mostly available to your career, but do you give your personal life a second look?" he asked, standing, and heading towards the door.

"What do you mean?"

"You have so much more than skill in writing and a dark streak, Jade. Perhaps you're letting exterior things get in the way of your goals."
"Mm...See you on the feild, Ichijoiuji." she replied, trying to ignore his comment. Ken slipped out the door, leaving Jade to herself. After a few moments, she reached into her pocket, and stopped her tape recorder, hitting the rewind.

"Well, now I have a good article on Ken Ichijouji's taste in women and his views on them...Promotion, here I come."
