Chapter 9 Fire Pokémon’s Love and the Trap

They reached the entrance of Mount Moon.

There were some team rocket goons trying to steal all the Clefairy, but Ash and Charmeleon put a stop to them. A Pokémon watched as Ash helped all the Clefairy escape, it began to follow them wanting to keep an eye on this unique human.
“This is squad A, mission Clefairy haul is a bust!”
“We were beaten by a boy with a Charmeleon, do you want us to go after them,”
“No that won’t be necessary, we have a plan to deal with the twerp, go ahead and proceed to Cerulean City.” It was Jessie’s voice, and the men left, following the orders.
Brock found a Makuhita, and was able to catch it. The boys ran into another group of Team Rocket grunts, they were harassing another scientist, and Ash and Brock rescued him. As a reward the scientist let Brock and Ash pick a fossil to have, Ash picked the Helix Fossil and Brock chose the Dome Fossil.
The grunts reported their loss, and it was James who told them to move on. “It’s fine we acquired more than enough here, this isn’t the only place with fossils, move out.”
“Yes sir!”
When the boys made it to the final floor of the mountain, they sprung the trap Team Rocket had set. They fell into a pit, and James called upon his new Pokémon, Paras. It used Spore that put Ash, Charmeleon, and Brock into a deep sleep. Since they were passed out Jessie tied them up with rope and put Charmeleon in a cage.
When Ash came to he saw Jessie and James!
“You guys again!”
“That’s right twerp, and now we have all your Pokémon, you won’t be stopping us this time,” Jessie held up a bag of PokeBalls, both Ash’s and Brock’s Pokémon had been stolen. Despite being tied up Ash tried to get his Pokémon back, his struggles did not go unnoticed a small Sandshrew saw them and the thieves.
Charmeleon roared and tried to escape his cage but his powers did nothing. James and Jessie made off with their Pokémon. “No Charmeleon!! Everyone!”
“Looks like we win this time!” Jessie said with a laugh, however a Pokémon who had been following Ash was not going to allow this.
“Who is that Pokémon?” James gasped and quickly began looking through his guide book.
The Pokémon who stood in their path was Absol! He let loose a powerful Razor Wind attack and he slashed open the cage, Charmeleon escaped and took back the PokeBalls.
Meanwhile…
Ash’s struggles drew the attention of the Sandshrew, and with his Scratch attack, he severed the ropes. “Oh Sandshrew, thank you!” Ash patted him on the head and raced off to get his Pokémon back.
When he arrived he saw Absol and Charmeleon facing off against James, he had captured Chingling and Paras during his trip to Mount Moon, and the two faced off against them. “Master this Absol helped us escape,”
“Really thanks Absol,” Ash took back his PokeBalls. “Alright let’s get these guys,” Absol had agreed to help take care of these guys, so Charmeleon translated.

“You won’t be so confident once you’re Pokémon are fast asleep. Chingling use Hypnosis, Paras use Spore,” the Pokémon went to carry out the attacks.
“Absol use Pursuit, Charmeleon use Fire Fang!” Ash’s side struck first, and knocked out James’ Pokémon with one hit.
“James you idiot you just caught those two, damn it let’s get out of here quick!” Jessie hit James upside the head, and quickly ran off with him.
Brock arrived and got his Pokémon back. “Hey Absol thanks for everything, I don’t suppose you want to join my team do you?” Absol shook his head no, he quickly dashed off. “Wait, I hope we meet again Absol!!” Ash waved good-bye, and Absol bowed before running off.
“They say Absol sense disasters, he must have sensed the chaos Team Rocket was bringing to Mount Moon and came to put a stop to it,” Brock said, and Ash sighed.
“It’s too bad he was really strong to. Oh well I’m sure we will run into him again,” they made their way back to the exit of Mount Moon, and the Sandshrew that had saved them came back. “Hey there little guy, thanks for saving us.”
He patted Sandshrew’s head, and the ground type sighed happily. “You want to come with us, I’m sure I can use a tough little guy like you.” Sandshrew nodded, and Ash caught him, he was sent back to Professor Oak.
The boys left Mount Moon a safer place, and the journey continued.

Ash and Friends head into Route 4, and quickly into Cerulean City, however the girl gym leader refuses to accept Ash’s challenge unless he has a battle watch! Ash finds out from Gary he can get the battle watch from Bill the Pokémon researcher.
He goes and gains some new Pokémon in the process, the wonders of the Battle Watch will be revealed next time!
