It took Law approximately 20 minutes to get out the door this morning. Luffy was so adamant he not go to work that he wrapped himself around his legs like a child. Law spent the rest of the day after breakfast on the couch with Luffy happily sprawled on lap and had given him plenty of affection before attempting to leave. It was clearly not enough. After literally throwing the idiot to the curb, he finally escaped. Law didn’t even want to know what his expression looked like when he walked into work late for the first time in years.
If Luffy was going to be this unreasonable every time he left him, Law was going to lose his fucking mind. However, deep, deep down, his cold heart was warmed ever so slightly by the fact that someone wanted to be around him so badly that they would go to such lengths. Of course, he would never admit that to himself or Luffy.
Law made it only 24 hours until he heard a knock at his door that was clearly not Bepo. He looked up from his desk in annoyance mumbling for them to come in. He sighed. Somehow he was not surprised to see Luffy standing in the doorway with a smile. He had been here before.
“What are you doing here? Do not even think about pulling the stunt you did last time,” he said with a scowl. Luffy chuckled as he let himself in, closing the door behind him. Thankfully he did not lock it behind him this time. He approached Law’s desk and set down a paper bag.
“I brought you lunch. You were probably too busy and forgot to eat, am I right?” Law could see the self-satisfaction brimming on his face, emotions like an open book. He really hadn’t eaten anything, instead consuming five coffees. How did he know? Was his office bugged now or something?
“Depends on what you got me,” To his surprise, Luffy handed him chopsticks and a container with various types of nigiri. Huh. Law actually loved sushi but didn’t recall ever telling the idiot that.
“Did I do good?” Luffy hummed, awaiting praise like a puppy wagging its tail.
“Yeah you did good. Thanks.” Law replied, defeated. Luffy’s smile radiated through the room as he grabbed the bag and pulled out a takeout container of noodles and some type of chicken dish. He chose the noodles first, opening the package whilst licking his lips. He began slurping on noodles while standing and to Law’s bewilderment, circled to the other side of the desk, sliding to sit on his knee.
“Uh-uh. No way. You either go sit on the couch or leave. You are not sitting on my lap and eating in my office at my job ,” Law argued. There was no fucking way he was getting walked in on in this situation. He would rather die.
“You’re so mean, Torao! I missed you! Pleaseeee?” Luffy begged, dejected. Before Law could physically push him off, two knocks were heard on the door and Bepo came in without waiting. Are you fucking kidding me right now? Law thought. Without thinking, he stood up, throwing Luffy his lap and onto the floor. Somehow he caught himself, precious noodles held in the air as his body was pressed to the floor.
“Oh well now, what do we have here?” Bepo snickered with a raised bro, leaning into the door frame. Law sat down and pressed a hand to his forehead with a groan. He really needed to stop thinking things into existence. He probably should have helped Luffy up but he was preoccupied with the fact that his intrusive thoughts kept coming true.
“Hey, you must be Bepo! Torao told me about you! I’m Luffy, his boyfriend.” Luffy smiled up at Bepo, still on the floor. He was actually going to kill Luffy. He went through all the ways he could do it before Bepo interrupted him.
“Hi Luffy, It’s so nice to meet you! Law told me about you as well!” Bepo happily spoke with a wink. Law began to contemplate the various ways he could dispose of his friend. He couldn’t deal with these two morons right now.
“Really? He talked about me? Aww!” Luffy said, staring at him adoringly as he pulled himself into a seated position and began slurping his noodles again. He didn’t know what was worse: him talking while eating or the fact he was calling him Torao in front of Bepo.
“Yep! Did you bring Torao lunch? You’re so sweet.” Bepo cooed. Ugh. Law knew the blonde would comment on the nickname. He would never hear the end of this. Luffy jumped to his feet and grabbed another container from the brown bag and gleefully presented it to Bepo. How much food did he even buy?
“You should eat with us! I brought plenty to share!” Bepo’s eyes lit up as he happily accepted the offering. Law could see a silent friendship blooming and it felt like one that was going to be mad for his mental health.
“Wow, are you sure? I think I like you already!” Luffy nodded in reassurance, handing Bepo a pair of chopsticks. Bepo flopped into the couch and cracked open the container, inhaling the scent of what looked like some sort of beef. At the same time, Luffy perched himself on top of Law’s desk, his feet swinging against the wood.
“Get off my desk you idiot! You’re crumbling my papers. Go sit with Bepo,” Law commanded and lightly shoved Luffy off with a hand. Luffy frowned as he trailed over to the couch, Bepo making room for him.
“Law, don’t be so mean to him!” Bepo chided before looking at Luffy continuing with “I don’t know what you see in a jerk like that!”
“He’s always like that. Torao’s really nice deep down, we can just ignore him until he stops being angry. Anyways, has anyone ever told you that you look like a polar bear? You’re super tall and have fluffy white hair!” Luffy chuckled. Bepo chuckled at the comparison. Bepo did kind of look like a polar bear with his unnaturally white blonde hair.
“No they haven’t but I love polar bears, they’re so cute!” Bepo happily smiled at Luffy and the two began going on a tangent about cute things. Law opened his container of sushi with a sigh. He ate silently with a scowl on his face as the two rambled on. He didn’t have the energy for this. At least the fish was good quality. He was kind of impressed, honestly. Luffy didn’t strike him as one with the best judgment and seemed to enjoy everything he ate.
A few minutes passed as Bepo and Luffy animatedly spoke, Law not paying attention to the content of his conversation until he heard his name again.
“You’re lucky you caught us in between surgeries! I should totally send you Law’s calendar so you’ll know when he should be free next time,” Bepo pulled out his phone, looking to get Luffy’s phone number.
“Bepo if you dare give him my fucking calendar I will cut you up into so many pieces that even your mother won’t recognize you,” Law hissed. Both Bepo and Luffy stared at him awestruck before they looked at each other and burst into laughter.
“You’re so funny, Law,” Luffy said in between laughs.
“It’s so cute when you’re trying to pretend to be angry at us,” Bepo joined him, cackling. Luffy nodded in agreement.
“Why the hell are both of you even here? Go away. I have shit to do,” Law’s irritation was nearing its limits and he was about to physically drag Luffy out the door for the second time this week.
“Aww, I just wanted to see your face. I missed you! Is that such a bad thing?” Luffy pushed out his lips and made his most exaggerated sad face. Bepo’s eyes sparkled as he listened to Luffy try to sweet talk him. This kid was so shameless it physically pained Law.
He wasn’t surprised by Luffy’s shameless affection, but this was the first time Luffy had expressed it in front of others. At least it was Bepo and not some random coworkers or Shaci and Penguin. He knew that Bepo would make a beeline to those two and tell them all about how Law's boyfriend came to see him. Law cringed at the thought.
“Law, you really should be nice. He came all the way here, brought you lunch, and you’re gonna be like that?” Law could already see where this was going and he was not having this. He would not be tag-team guilt tripped by both his best friend and self-proclaimed boyfriend. He still cringed at the word.
“You’re both idiots,” Law sighed. Bepo, having long finished his food and just enjoying the entertainment Luffy provided, stood up and placed a hand on the younger’s shoulder.
“Thanks for the lunch, Luffy. It was really nice to meet you, sorry I interrupted your date.” he paused for a second before saying “Also sorry you ended up with such a mean guy like Law. Come find me before you leave and I’ll get your number, that way when Law is being a jerk we can complain about him.” Bepo beamed at the smaller man and the thread that was holding up Law’s patience snapped. He hadn’t missed Bepo’s thanks for the lunch comment even though Luffy had. He was actually about to commit a crime.
“Get. Out. Now. Bepo.” he demanded before glaring at Luffy “And you better not give him your phone number,” he said, pointing to Luffy with a tattooed finger. Luffy, of course, ignored him and gave Bepo his best smile.
“It was nice to meet you too! I’m glad Law has such a nice friend like you. I’ll bring you food again sometime soon, okay?” Law sighed. He quite literally was being treated like a piece of furniture in his own fucking office. Bepo shut the door with a click and a wink. Law crossed his arms, glaring at Luffy from across the room.
“That was fun! Bepo is really cool,” Luffy said as he jumped from his place on the couch and quickly made his way across the room before wrapping his arms around Law’s neck and pulling himself into his lap once again.
“Luffy seriousl-” he began to scold him again before he was cut off by Luffy’s lips pressed against his. He grabbed Luffy’s shoulders to remove him, but the smaller man only pulled him in closer with unexpected strength in his grip. He grumbled into Luffy’s mouth with a ‘tsk’ before begrudgingly giving in. He allowed the kiss for only a moment before he unhooked Luffy’s arm from his neck and placed him on his feet and off his lap.
“Okay, that’s enough. Time for you to go, I really do have to work. Thanks for bringing me lunch, it was actually pretty good,” Law said to Luffy in the nicest voice he could muster. It wasn’t enough as Luffy eyed him, obviously rejected. What did he expect? Law to throw him down and have his way with him in the middle of the hospital? He supposed the answer to that was yes, after all Luffy had already done so himself.
“I really did miss you though. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Have a good rest of your day, don’t forget to eat dinner!” Luffy said before snaking out his hand to grab Law’s chin and give him a quick peck.
“Yeah. See you tomorrow,” Law mumbled as Luffy made his way to the door, blowing him a kiss with a wink before leaving. He pressed his face into his palms. What had he gotten himself into? Perhaps he should have reconsidered Luffy’s request to be with him after all. He didn’t think his already limited patience could deal with the tornado that was Luffy. Bepo was no better. He had a feeling that by tomorrow the two would be chatting away through texts. Great.
Pushing thoughts of the idiot duo aside, he smoothed out his now crumpled papers and returned to his report. He refused to acknowledge the small smile that made its way to his lips.
-
Luffy impatiently paced around his loft. He had texted Law when he woke up in the afternoon and asked him when he would be home and he had told him 6pm. He just couldn’t help himself. He was humming with excitement at the idea of spending both tonight and the whole day tomorrow with Law.
Luffy surprised himself with how much he enjoyed spending time with his handsome boyfriend . He also couldn’t help but smile everytime he said or thought that word. The idea of having something all to himself was comforting yet thrilling. Yes, Law spent most of their time scolding him but he enjoyed the attention. Plus, behind the furrowed brows and slanted eyes, he could see a sparkle in Law’s eyes. He suspected that he would slowly whittle away at Law’s hardened exterior over time until he just gave up altogether and let Luffy do what he wanted.
At least Law responded to his texts throughout the day. His replies were as short as his real life ones, but Luffy’s heart warmed every time he felt his phone vibrate.
After way too long, it was an acceptable time to head to Law’s. Being in his own place had made Luffy seriously question how he had lived in such a shitty disaster of a home for so many months. He supposed that he hadn’t known what he was missing out on.
On the walk to Law’s place, he thought about his friends. It was about time that he finally told them what was really going on. For a moment, he feared that they would be angry and even reject him. However, he thought of each one of them and realized they would never. His friends were steadfast and lifelong. They would understand that he had to do things his way.
He spent the walk thinking about how exactly he would word it. After all, how do you tell your friends that you not only have a boyfriend but that your brother is dead and you almost killed yourself over it? That wasn’t just a typical ‘hey what’s up’ kind of text. Or was it…? He found himself wanting to be in Law’s presence when he messaged them. He just wanted the comfort and reassurance that everything would be fine.
Luffy arrived at Law's at 6pm on the dot. When he approached, Law was just unlocking the door, back to him. Of course he was promptly on time. Luffy grinned as he ran up the front stairs, throwing his arms around Law’s waist as he pushed open the door.
“What th–Holy fuck Luffy, you scared me,” Law, clearly shocked his sudden appearance exclaimed.
“Sorry I couldn’t help myself,” Luffy spoke as he pulled Law by the hand through the now open door. He shut it and pushed the taller man against it and wrapped his arms around Law’s neck, pulling him down into a sultry kiss. Law, at first hesitant, huffed into his mouth and returned the kiss for a heated moment. He pulled away and looked down at Luffy with the smallest hint of a smile.
“I just saw you yesterday. How could you miss me that much?” He asked amusingly.
“Well sorry I like being around you… Jerk” Luffy huffed and pulled away, turning around to stalk into the living room. At least Law could pretend to be excited to see him. He was such a buzzkill. As he walked away, arms grabbed him around the waist and he was suddenly pulled backward into Law’s embrace.
“Don’t get upset. I’m happy to see you too. Can I make it up to you by making you dinner?” Law breathed into his ear, arms wrapped around him as he pressed Luffy close to his body. Ugh. Luffy was ready to be mad but how could he with this sweet talking with food?
“Really? Fine. As long as you promise it will be tasty.” Luffy’s ears perked up as he played hard to get. He was obviously ecstatic about eating something Law cooked but he had to keep his cool. He was actually starving, not having eaten anything since breakfast.
“It will be good. Now let me shower and change out of these dirty hospital clothes,” Law pressed a small kiss to his hair.
“Can I join you?” His hunger subsided at the idea of Law naked. He could wait a little bit for food. He would rather eat Law instead.
“I thought you wanted dinner? If you join me you know it will take way longer,” Law questioned with a seductive look. Luffy was one step ahead of him, kicking off his shoes and grabbing Law by the sleeve of his dress shirt.
“I think I’m hungry for something else now,” He murmured as he led Law, dragging the taller man across the living room and towards the stairs. Law rolled his eyes as he began to pull off his tie with his free hand, helplessly following Luffy first into his bedroom, then into the ensuite bathroom.
Luffy wasted no time flicking on the shower and let it warm up before turning to Law. He pulled him close by the now undone tie and into a harsh kiss which Law eagerly returned. Luffy began to unbutton Law’s shirt with lithe fingers. After he finished, Law responded by swiftly pulling his t-shirt over his head and pressing his hands to Luffy’s now bare frame. Luffy’s hands wandered down as he pushed himself closer to Law, undoing his belt and pulling off his pants. Law did the same to him and they were both naked.
Law grabbed him by the chin as he stood up, now towering over Luffy by a few inches.
“You’re always so needy, aren’t you?” he spoke as he looked down at the smaller man. He was needy. He was shamelessly addicted to Law’s body and wasn’t afraid to admit it.
“You’re not any better, you just play hard to get,” he pointed out. Law didn’t protest his advances and based on his now hard length which was pressed against Luffy’s stomach, Luffy concluded that Law was just as horny as he was. The man could deny it all he wanted but Luffy could tell Law wanted him just as much as he did. His body lurched forward as Law pulled him into the stream of hot water.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m not any better.” Law agreed as the water ran over him, pushing Luffy up against the wall. Luffy shivered at the feeling of the cold tiles pressed against his naked back. Tattooed fingers came up to Luffy’s mouth and pushed inside without hesitation.
“Suck.” Law commanded. Luffy did as he was told, pressing his lips around Law’s fingers and swirling his tongue over the digits. He loved Law’s hands and was more than happy to oblige. Golden eyes watched him attentively. Once he was satisfied, Law pulled his hand out of his mouth and impatiently brought it to Luffy’s rear. He pressed his fingers in and Luffy hissed at the sensation. Law was being greedy but he enjoyed it.
Luffy grinded into the hand that was prodding inside him. He could feel Law stretching him out and he hummed with anticipation. Law was clearly in a no nonsense mood and Luffy knew it would be a little rough but good for him. Luffy had never been interested in the pleasure sex brought along with it, but since he had been with Law, he craved it constantly.
After a moment, Law pulled out fingers and grabbed Luffy by the shoulder, flipping him around to face the wall. Hands slid down to his hips as he pushed a knee between his legs to spread them. Luffy’s hands flew out instinctively in front of him as he grasped at the tiles with slippery hands. Law said nothing as his fingers dug into Luffy’s hips. He slowly pushed his length into Luffy’s ass. He winced at the sting of no lube besides water. He was toeing the line between pain and pleasure but he could handle it.
“Good, you take it for me, baby. You’re the one who said you wanted this everyday after all,” Law threw Luffy’s previous words back in his face as he pushed deeper into him. Luffy groaned as felt himself stuffed to the brim after a moment. Law smacked his ass, the wetness accentuating the sound. Luffy moaned at the feeling. Law took that as permission to start moving his hips.
Luffy’s fingers gripped the slippery surface, grasping for stability but finding none. The water flowed over him and as he gasped at Law’s increasing thrusts. He felt his own arms slipping down but suddenly Law’s arm enveloped his waist.
“C’mon, Arch your back and stand up,” Law instructed as he pressed a hand against Luffy’s stomach, pulling his body back up against him so he was standing almost upright as his hips continued to press into Luffy.
“Sorry,” Luffy murmured and he felt Law’s nails which were still holding his side dig into him deep. He wondered if he would have bruises again.
“Don’t apologize, just do what I tell you,” Law commanded in his ear, his teeth nibbling the tip of it. He arched his back as directed and felt the heat wash over him when Law his spot. He let out a gasp. Law’s cock twitched inside him in response, enjoying the sound.
“See, it’s good when you listen to me, right baby?” Law murmured into his ears. Luffy couldn’t form words at the moment so he responded with a nod as the pleasure built inside of him. He came undone when Law brought his hand that was gripping his side down to stroke his cock.
Luffy was overwhelmed with the multiple sensations: the steaming water beating down on his skin, Law pressing into his ass, and the hand stroking his own length. He moaned loudly as Law pulled his smaller body against his over and over. The slapping of their wet skin echoed in his ears.
“Law-I-Fuckkk…” He tried to form a coherent sentence. Law didn’t let him as he increased the pace, Luffy only being held up at this point by Law’s strong arms that had slipped around his waist.
“I got you, just let yourself go,” Law whispered into his ear, sucking on the lobe. Luffy obliged as Law’s sexy fingers stroked his length in time with his thrusts. Luffy came hard with a moan, the whiteness spreading on the tiles. Law, not yet satisfied himself, continued with a few more deep thrusts, before he also came, even more heat filling up Luffy. He started to feel lightheaded, the temperature and pleasure clouding his head. He willed himself to stay conscious, not wanting to inconvenience Law who was thoroughly enjoying his orgasm.
Law, sensing his body starting to go limp, pulled out quickly and stepped back to sit on the shower bench. Flipping Luffy to face him as he pulled the smaller man onto his lap.
“Hey, are you okay?” Law questioned, a concerned look on his face. The room started to spin and he shut his eyes, his body falling into Law’s chest.
“Luffy? Talk to me. Tell me you’re okay.” Law held him by the waist as he turned off the water, the immediate coolness feeling good. Law placed him down on the shower bench and knelt in front of him. Luffy blinked his eyes open, taking in the view of Law before him.
“Mmmm… I’m fine. Sorry…,” he murmured. In the haze filling his head. He was irritated with himself for ruining their good time by not being tough enough. Law’s hands slid to his cheeks as he grasped his face, looking into his eyes with a serious expression.
“If you’re not okay, you have to tell me. I don’t want to fucking hurt you,” Law spoke quietly. His head was still spinning as he nodded. Law lifted him up and he closed his eyes, dizzy at the sensation. Seconds later he felt warmth wrap around him.
The dizziness subsided slightly and Luffy opened his eyes enough to be greeted by perhaps the best sight he could imagine. Law, wide-eyed with concern hovering over him.
“You look so cute when you’re worried about me,” Luffy murmured. Law signed in what he suspected was relief instead of irritation for once.
“Damnit Luffy. Don’t ever do that again,” Law said as he wrapped his arms around Luffy, pulling him into his embrace. Luffy savored the closeness, relieved that Law wasn’t angry with him.
“Sorry…” breathed into his tattooed chest, eyes closed again.
“Stop apologizing. I’m not mad at you. Once you feel better I’ll make you some food. Did you eat today?” Law questioned.
“Only breakfast…” he muttered. After a moment he sat up completely and blinked his eyes open. Everything felt normal again.
“Feeling better?” Law questioned.
“I’m okay now. I think I just got dizzy for a second. Thanks for taking care of me,” He said, finally able to form sentences. Law sighed heavily as his head fell, pressing into Luffy’s shoulder.
“Don’t scare me like that,” he muttered into the crook of his neck.
“I’m not going to break that easily. You can make it up to me by being nice for the rest of the night and all day tomorrow,” Law nodded in agreement. In exchange for one quick bout of dizziness, he now had his boyfriend wrapped around his finger for another day and a half. It was totally worth it.
Law dressed both Luffy and himself before bringing them downstairs. Luffy went to protest for a moment, he had actually brought his own clothes which were still in a bag forgotten by the door. But he liked wearing Law’s clothing and being surrounded by his scent. It was like Law was marking him as one of his possessions which made him feel wanted.
They ventured down into the kitchen, Luffy sliding into a chair at the table and watching intently as Law began to pull out various ingredients from the fridge.
“Whatcha cookin?” Luffy questioned.
“I got some spicy sausage. Figured I would make a pasta sauce with it.” Luffy’s mouth filled with saliva at the idea of meat.
“Yummy, that sounds so good.” Luffy said approvingly before pausing “Wait, when did you even have time to go to the store?” he asked in confusion. Luffy had met him at the door and there were no grocery bags.
“I just had my housekeepers grab some things before they came over. They do shopping for me when I ask.” Law spoke nonchalantly. Who was this man? He had people who just went shopping for him?
“Wow, it must be nice to just have people to do stuff for you…” Luffy muttered. Law chuckled lowly.
“Well I want to enjoy what little time I get at home. This stupid job pays me enough that I can afford it thankfully.” Law explained as he placed the sausage into the sizzling pan. The scent of spices and garlic hit Luffy’s nose. He hummed in appreciation.
“Mmm… Smells good. I feel like I’m back in the kitchen with Sanji again…” He murmured with a sigh.
“That’s your friend who is the chef on the Baratie right? You mentioned before that they would be coming to Dressrosa soon.” Law reminded him that he totally forgot to message Sanji and figure out when he and Zoro would be in town. Shit. He was a bad friend. Maybe today he would text his friends. This was the second time he thought about it today so it must be a sign.
He also wanted to tell them about Law. He was sure they would be shocked to hear Luffy was dating someone. After all, as long as they had known him he had never really expressed interest in romance. Usopp had claimed he must be asexual or something and Luffy had thought perhaps he was right. He now realized his long nosed friend was so very wrong.
“Yep that’s him, you have a good memory. Thanks for reminding me. I totally forgot to message them and see when that is. Will you come with me to visit? I really want you to meet Sanji and Zoro,” Luffy asked. He was a little nervous that Law wouldn’t be interested in meeting his friends. He was a pretty antisocial guy.
“Yeah. Just let me know when and I’ll make sure I'm free.” Law accepted the invitation and Luffy grinned. Law turned away from the stove, catching his smile and let out an amused ‘tch’. Luffy was never one to hide his happiness. Perhaps Law knew that and just wanted to see him smiling at such a simple thing as him agreeing to meet Luffy’s friends. The thought warmed Luffy’s heart.
“Yay! I can’t wait!” Luffy exclaimed as Law placed a steaming plate of pasta mixed with a meaty sauce and topped with grated cheese in front of him. His mouth watered as he grabbed the fork Law handed him. He then placed a side salad next to it. Luffy eyed the greens apprehensively which had not gone unnoticed by Law.
“You can’t just eat carbs and meat all the time. You need vegetables too. Now eat.” Law commanded as he grabbed his own food and slid into the chair next to Luffy. He dug in, savoring the delicious spice that flowed into his mouth.
“Okay I kn-” Luffy began before Law glared at him and he knew he was about to get scolded for talking with his mouth full. Law was so particular.
“Eat first then talk.” Law ordered. Luffy swallowed his bite.
“Ok fine. But it’s soooooo good. You are actually the best, Law.” He gushed. Law rolled his eyes before beginning to eat himself. Luffy scarfed down most of his food before he spoke again, knowing Law wouldn’t be happy if he disobeyed.
“Anyways, I know I mentioned them before but I’ll give you all the details on Sanji and Zoro. Sanji is the best. He’s super funny and makes the best food. His adoptive dad is the owner of the Baratie and he works as a chef there. Zoro is my best friend and also Sanji’s boyfriend now and I guess he lives on the Baratie too. Knowing him, he probably just sleeps all day. I met him first when I started at Baratie and we kind of formed our group from there. I’m not really sure how those two got together since all they do is fight all the time. Plus, Sanji is soooo obsessed with pretty women. I didn’t even know he liked guys. Whatever, I’m super happy for them.”
He took a breath before continuing his tangent “Zoro is kind of quiet but he’s always been super protective of me. He might be a little mean to you at first. Don’t take it personally. He’ll warm up to you once he sees how happy I am with you and how good of a boyfriend you are,” Luffy explained as Law watched him attentively.
Law’s cheeks reddened slightly when Luffy praised him. He loved seeing the usually stoic man act all shy and cute. Law always looked cool and confident on the outside, but Luffy could see the insecurities that brewed inside him.
He wanted to reassure him that he was in fact happy. How could he not be? Law was always in tune with his feelings and even if he regularly scolded him and acted annoyed. He accepted Luffy’s relentless need for affection and provided him with passion in return. Even today when Luffy almost passed out, Law’s concern for him was the top priority. He was able to satisfy the smaller man’s voracious appetite, both for food and for sex which was a feat in itself. So far, Luffy had nothing to complain about besides the fact Law clearly worked too much.
“They sound like interesting guys. Are all of your friends as crazy as you are?” Law questioned. Luffy nodded. His friends were all such characters and he loved each of them. Even Robin, who was more reserved than the rest, made the most horrific jokes.
“Oh totally. Everyone loves to laugh and have a good time together. They’re like a real family to me,” Luffy smiled softly as he thought about his friends. He glanced at Law and he was puzzled when he saw a dark expression on the man’s face. He couldn’t figure out what he was thinking at that moment but figured maybe it would be better not to pry.
He didn’t want to press Law too much when it came to opening up about things. He had a feeling it would lead to an argument that could end with Law pushing him away further. His boyfriend clearly had a lot of secrets about his past and family seemed like a touchy subject. Luffy came to the conclusion that the best course would just be to stay by his side and in time, Law would share things with him as their bond deepened. He was confident of that. All he could do was try and make Law happy.
“Speaking of my friends, I really need to tell them about what has been going on with me and I want them to know about you too. I’m kind of nervous though, can you sit with me while I message everyone? I would feel better knowing you were there to support me,” Luffy spoke honestly. He knew everything would be fine, but having Law by his side reassured him that no matter what, he wasn’t alone anymore.
“Of course.” Law agreed, his face softening, the traces of his earlier darkened emotions dissipating. “We can do it after you finish eating if you want to get it over with.” Law continued.
Luffy nodded and finished his pasta before begrudgingly eating the accompanying greens. It’s not that he didn’t like vegetables or anything, he just preferred meat and tasty treats. Satisfied with the now cleared plates, Law stood and grabbed them from the table.
“I’ll clean up, you go wait on the couch,” Law said. Luffy nodded in agreement and also got up. He took a few steps to meet Law who was standing at the sink and wrapped his arms around the taller man’s waist, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“Thanks for feeding me, Torao. You’re good at everything. Even cooking,” Law wrapped his arm around Luffy’s shoulders and kissed his hair affectionately in response.
“Don’t mention it,” Law said casually. Luffy smiled softly before making his way into the living room. A few minutes later, Law joined him. He slid into the corner of the couch and beckoned Luffy over to him. Luffy crawled onto his lap and sat in between his legs, pressing his back to Law’s chest. Law picked up the book he had apparently brought with him and slipped on his glasses. Once he got comfortable, he looped one arm around Luffy’s stomach, bringing his hand around to meet his hand holding the book so he could still flip the pages.
“You message your friends. I’m going to read while you do it. Let me know if you need anything,” Law advised. Luffy nodded in response.
“Thank you, Law. I’m really happy you agreed to be with me,” Luffy spoke quietly.
“Mmhmm. You didn’t give me much of a choice,” Law replied dryly. In his own way, that response was acceptance of their relationship and that alone was enough for Luffy. He didn’t need Law to tell him that he cared for him. His actions spoke for themselves.
He soaked in the comfort of Law’s warmth surrounding him and braced himself. He could do this. He had Law by his side now. His friends didn’t need to worry and he didn’t need to feel guilty anymore. He clicked open his phone and pondered how to approach the subject.
Luffy: Guys. I have something important I need to tell you about.
Nami: What’s up? Is everything okay, you’re never serious like this?
Chopper: You’re not hurt, right?
Luffy: I’ve been keeping something really important from you. And I know you’re going to be mad but please don’t be too upset with me.
Sanji: What the hell?
Zoro: ?
Nami: Spill. Now.
Luffy: Ace died back in January. He was murdered.
Nami: WHAT? Oh god Luffy. Are you okay? You should have told us!
Robin: Oh Luffy… I am so sorry.
Sanji: I’m sorry for your loss, Lu. He was a good guy.
Zoro: Why didn't you tell us? I would have been there for you.
Brook: How terrible! Poor Ace!
Frankie: We’re here for you buddy.
Usopp: OMFG what?!
Chopper: Noooooo, Ace! Luffy! Oh my gosh I am so, so sorry.
Luffy: I know I should have told you when it happened but you all just seemed so happy and I didn’t want you to worry about me and drop everything to be with me.
Nami: If I knew I would have dragged you to Alabasta. Vivi and I would have taken care of you…
Zoro: I can’t believe you’ve been all alone and I’ve been stuck on this stupid boat with the Cook
Sanji: I’m going to let that slide just this one time, Mosshead. Luffy, I am upset that you felt like you couldn’t rely on us but we are here for you now if you need us.
Robin: You are truly selfless Luffy, but it’s okay to rely on your friends. That’s what we are here for.
Luffy: I know… I’m sorry… It was really hard and I was so sad. A lot of stuff happened and I promise I’ll tell you everything when I see you next. But I’m okay now. Sabo helped me figure things out and my boyfriend is supporting me too.
Nami: YOUR WHAT?
Sanji: BOYFRIEND? WHAT THE HELL?
Zoro: What
Chopper: aslkdjfk;
Brook: Yo ho ho it looks like young Luffy has finally settled down!
Frankie: Nice man.
Usopp: HUH?!?!
Robin: That’s lovely that you found someone Luffy, I’m happy for you.
Luffy: Yeah his name’s Law. He’s really awesome and I can’t wait for you guys to meet him.
Nami: What does he look like, he better not be some loser. Send. Picture. Now.
Luffy scrolled through his phone. He didn’t have any photos of him and Law together yet, but he had taken one photo without the doctor knowing. Law was sitting at the kitchen table looking serene as he read a book with his reading glasses perched on the tip of his nose. Luffy had secretly snapped the image while he was eating breakfast the other day. He hid his phone from Law’s view, not wanting him to know and pressed send, awaiting their replies. He knew Nami in particular would freak out at the sight of the handsome and scholarly tattooed man.
Nami: WHAT THE FUCK, HE’S SO HOT???
Sanji: Damn Luffy, where'd you find a guy like that?
Frankie: Sick tattoos, man.
Robin: That’s nice Luffy, he’s very handsome. Also, I think Chopper may have passed from excitement.
Usopp: Damn guys really be allowed to walk around looking like that?
Zoro: I am going to murder this man.
Luffy: Hehe right? he’s soooo hot you don’t even know. Zoro pleaseee don’t murder Torao. he is a really good guy, I swear! He’s a surgeon!
Sanji: Well, you better bring him to The Baratie so we can make sure. We will be in town on September 8th. I’ll make a reservation. Zeff should let me slip out early and join you guys.
Luffy: Yay! I can’t wait to see you guys and eat everythinggggg! Oh yeah, can I bring my boyfriend?
Zoro: If he’s coming, I’m bringing my sword.
Sanji: Zoro you know what happened last time you brought your sword into the dining room. Don’t worry, if he’s unworthy of our Luffy I’ll just kick his ass. My legs are a good enough weapon.
Zoro: Fine. I can still kill a man with my bare hands if needed.
Luffy: Guys pleaseeee, you’ll see he’s great and won’t need to kill him!
Nami: So the boyfriend is a doctor? Damn Luffy, get that bag. I’m so proud.
Luffy: Yeah he’s a surgeon, it's super cool.
Chopper: Sorry. I was just so happy for you, Luffy. I’m back. He’s a surgeon?!?! I have to meet him.
Usopp: Hold up, did everyone just forget that Luffy mentioned SABO?
Nami: OH SHIT YEAH I WAS DISTRACTED. HE’S ALIVE?
Luffy: Yeah he came and visited me a few weeks ago. I can’t really talk about him right now but I’ll tell you everything in person.
Sanji: That’s great, buddy. I’m glad you were reunited.
Robin: It is quite odd how the world works. With the loss of one brother you gained another. It is great that he was able to help you understand things.
Nami: Holy shit.
Brook: Yohoho it is lovely your family member is alive! You must celebrate!
Luffy: Thankg guys. I’m really glad to have Sabo back. Maybe I can convince him to come meet you one day. He’s super smart and cool. But I gotta go guys, I’m with Torao but I really needed to tell you guys about everything and I’m sorry it took so long.
Zoro: Tell him to watch his back.
Sanji: Can’t wait to see you soon!
Nami: Ughhhh I need more tea!
Luffy clicked off his phone and let out a deep breath that he didn’t realize he was holding as he placed his phone down on the cushion. Law looked up from his book and eyed him with curiosity.
“How’d it go?” Law asked, marking his page and taking off his glasses, setting both objects aside.
“It was good. I think everyone was just kind of sad that I didn’t tell them. I feel bad. But I feel relieved now that I got it off my chest.” Luffy explained as he played with Law’s hand, fingers tracing the letters and shapes that rested upon them.
“How much did you tell them?” Law questioned.
“I told them that Ace was murdered and Sabo was back. I also told them that I was okay now and they didn’t have to worry since my boyfriend was supporting me. They freaked out and asked a lot of questions about you,” He told Law. Law took the hand that was stroking his fingers and entwined their fingers.
“That’s good. I’m sure it will be better to talk about all of the details in person but now you don’t have to dwell on it. Do you feel better?” Law asked, giving his hand a light squeeze.
“Yeah I feel relieved. I feel like I can move on with a clearer conscience. I’m glad you were here while I did it. Thank you.” Luffy replied. He really did feel a lot better. He still had to address the whole ‘I tried to kill myself because of it’ part but that could wait for an in-person conversation.
“Luffy. You don’t need to thank me for every little thing. You asked me to support you so I did. It’s that simple.” Clearly Law was not used to being appreciated and Luffy hated that. He deserved to see his importance in other’s lives. Luffy turned around and wrapped his legs around Law’s waist, sitting in his lap so they were face to face.
“Why can’t you just let me be grateful? I know you’re probably not used to it but it’s okay to accept praise. Especially from me. I’m serious when I tell you that I am happy with you. I don’t need you to tell me you are too if you’re not ready, but please just let me give you the thanks you deserve,” he told Law who met his eyes with a clouded gaze as he mulled over Luffy’s words. Luffy didn’t mean to call him out and had agreed to not push him too far but it just slipped out. He sucked at keeping his promises to himself.
“Yeah you’re right, I’m not used to it. I’m not used to any of this and it’s scary and confusing.” Law admitted. Luffy understood. He also was not used to the feelings in his heart. The comfort, passion, and care he felt for Law were unlike the feelings he had for his friends or brothers. It felt important, all-consuming even. It was a strange new sensation.
“I’m scared too. But we are in this together and I want to make sure we can communicate effectively so there aren’t any misunderstandings.” Luffy spoke clearly and confidently. He truly didn’t want there to be conflict between the two of them in the future and thought maybe discussing these things now could help prevent that. He had already broached the subject, it was too late now. Law leaned back against the couch, staring towards the ceiling.
“What you have to understand is that everyone I have ever loved is dead and I’m terrified that if I ever decided to love you that you’ll die too. I’m scared that if I get used to you being in my life and I’m happy that everything will just come crashing down around me.” Law bared his feelings without meeting Luffy’s gaze. Perhaps he couldn’t quite deal with seeing the expression in Luffy’s eyes.
Luffy was shocked by the sudden confession. He didn’t expect Law to open up like this and had to think carefully in order to make sure he wasn’t crossing an unknown boundary. His heart swelled at the idea that Law had contemplated a future where he would love Luffy. Despite his apprehension and fear, it seemed like he actually did like Luffy in a romantic sense. Not as just a fuck buddy, but as a person. Luffy knew he was hard to deal with and it was a relief to know that Law didn’t let that stop him from caring about him.
Luffy placed his hands on either side of Law’s face and tilted his head back down so he could gaze into his golden eyes just as Law had done to him only a few hours prior. Law’s face so clearly matched the worries and fears he was expressing. It killed Luffy to see him so conflicted. He must have had such a terrible life to feel this way. His heart hurt for his boyfriend.
“I am so sorry that you have had to live like that. I cannot imagine what you have been through. But I promise that I will never leave you unless you want me to. I know it’s crazy to say that when we haven’t known each other very long.” Luffy paused for a moment, carefully considering his next words. The feeling of vulnerability weighed down on his shoulders but he didn’t run from it. He knew that his words were a binding promise, once which he intended to keep. He didn’t want to scare Law away but at the same time he needed him to know how he truly felt and this felt like the right time.
“You saved me. I feel like I have a reason to live again. Now I want to save you. Please let me.” Luffy felt the tears brewing in his eyes and by the time he finished his words they were rolling down his cheeks. Law’s eyes were wide as he contemplated both Luffy’s words and tears. He placed his tattooed hands on top of Luffy’s.
Luffy chastised himself for being such a baby and crying so easily but he was so overwhelmed with emotions that he couldn’t help himself. He had been holding these feelings inside and finally getting them out was freeing. Law truly had been his savior in more ways than one and he would be eternally grateful for that. Seeing his boyfriend so full of tension over him made him deeply sad.
“I’m a terrible person. I don’t deserve this salvation that you are offering me.” Law spoke quietly as he closed his eyes. Luffy wanted to hit him so bad. He wanted to beat out this idea that he didn’t deserve to be happy. He wanted to yell at Law and tell him to get over himself, that it doesn’t matter what he did in the past, he wasn’t a terrible person. But he wouldn’t do that. He would let Law talk first. He deserved to be able to express his true thoughts.
Law opened his eyes and stared at him with conviction as he continued “I want nothing in this world more than to be happy. I want you to save me, Luffy. So terribly bad. But I’m so fucking shackled to this regret and pain and I can’t move on. These ghosts are following me wherever I go. They are there around every corner, whispering in my ear that everything is all my fault. What am I supposed to do? How do I get away from them?”
Tears began to fall from Law’s eyes and Luffy felt like he was going to be physically ill. The pain in Law’s expression, the vision of this beautiful, kind, but very broken man bore into his very soul. Seeing this man cry was perhaps one of the worst feelings ever. He never wanted to have to witness this sight again.
Luffy wanted vengeance on every person who had ever hurt him, who had made him this way. It was so very, very unfair. These ghosts that haunted Law needed to rest in fucking peace. But he really didn’t have a true answer to the question of how to eradicate them. After all, although he had somewhat reconciled with himself over what happened, Ace’s ghost still followed him around everyday. It was just easier to bear now that he had some closure. He had a feeling that these ghosts, the ones he guessed were of Law’s family as well as those whose deaths he had played a part in, would never have that sort of closure. Their deaths may have just simply been too cruel for that.
He had no answers to give, nothing to offer right now but himself. So he proceeded the only way he knew how to, wrapping his arms around Law and pulling him in for a kiss.
The kiss was slow and passionate. Luffy poured all his emotions into it. His sadness, his anger, his frustration, his desire, and most importantly the overwhelming love he realized he was feeling for this man. He could taste the salt of their combined tears on his tongue as he deepened the kiss, wrapping his tongue with Law’s. His heart beat loudly in his ears and he could feel Law’s own rapidly beating heart against his chest.
He tightened the grip of thighs that were wrapped around Law, bringing a hand to the back of his partner’s neck to deepen the kiss. He wanted to be as close to the man as he could, to devour him until he forgot all his problems. He wanted to suck out every deep rooted fear that Law possessed in his body. He let his body speak for him and Law returned every ounce for passion and desire he gave.
Luffy felt overwhelmed at that moment. He never knew he could feel such strong emotions just from a kiss. As their mouths battled, Luffy could feel Law wordlessly begging him for the salvation he offered. The unspoken request to provide him the happiness that he was too shameful to ask for.
Luffy broke their fervent exchange and pressed his forehead to Law’s.
“I am no God and I’m not sure how I’m going to do it, but I promise I will find the key and free you from your chains. I will find an answer to your questions and exorcize the ghosts that haunt you. No matter how long it takes. Until then, please just let me be by your side.” He spoke his vow into existence breathing heavily, more tears streaming down his face.
Law cupped his cheek and pressed another slow kiss to his lips. Luffy savored the taste of his mouth as he silently accepted his request. Law pulled away and looked deep into his eyes, almost permeating into Luffy’s soul. He felt like he was stripped naked even though he was fully clothed.
“I am so, so, unworthy of any of this. Of you. Of happiness. I am such a foolish and fucking selfish person. I don’t even deserve the right to ask you for this, but please stay with me, Luffy.” Law whispered. Luffy pressed his face into the larger man’s chest, pulling him into a tight embrace. And he sobbed with his eyes closed. Law held him in his arms and he felt like he was going to burst. The larger man didn’t make any noise as his body trembled.
The scene was so similar yet so different from the first time he had been in Law’s house, sobbing in his arms over the death of his brother, his own regrets, and his loneliness. Now as he cried he realized that he was crying not for himself, but for Law. He had changed so much in such a short amount of time without even realizing it. Everything had changed so much in a matter of weeks.
Perhaps their tears were also out of relief, the knowledge that they wouldn’t be alone anymore. That all the days, months, and even years of solitude were over. That in itself was almost surreal. Both himself and Law had resigned themselves to this loneliness. The dark that was sucking them in although there, now had a small light shined onto it. But it would take more than that to heal the damage done to Law’s soul. Until then, this relief was the most Luffy could provide.
As his tears flowed, both sorrowful and happy, he was unable to distinguish where he began and Law ended. The sounds of his sobs echoed throughout the room. Law’s cries were silent. Luffy stayed wrapped in the comforting embrace for an undetermined amount of time until his legs began to hurt and tears dried. At some point Law had stopped shaking and his grip on Luffy had loosened.
Luffy opened his eyes and pulled away from Law. Their eyes met and Luffy felt an electric current run through the air between them.
“Thank you. I’m sorry I’m such a disaster. You really should find someone normal. I’m a fucked up person, Luffy.” Law muttered.
“It’s too late now, you begged me not to leave you. We’re stuck with each other.” Luffy said with a sly smile before continuing “Plus, normal is boring and I’m just as fucked up as you are. You know that.” Law stared at him for a moment in silence before they both smiled and burst out in laughter for a few moments. The atmosphere changed, their laughter now echoing throughout the room instead of their cries. Luffy unwrapped his legs from around Law’s waist and slipped back in between Law’s legs, resting on his side. Law snaked an arm around him.
“Also, you’re welcome. See? That’s how you’re supposed to respond when someone thanks you.” He chuckled. Law rolled his eyes.
“You’re so dramatic.” He said with a smirk. Luffy was in fact not dramatic at all in comparison to Law’s angst and irrational fears.
“You’re literally the most dramatic person I have ever met. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black.” Luffy responded with his own eye roll. Law stroked Luffy’s upper thigh as they lay there for a moment.
“You better not have told your friends anything weird about me.” Law muttered, the subject now changed and the tension lifted after their intense conversation.
“I didn’t tell them anything weird! I said you were a super nice guy and a doctor. Zoro did say he was going to kill you when he meets you though. He’s an amazing swordsman, so you actually might die. But don’t worry, I’ll protect you!” Luffy slipped that one in there with a smile. He thought about not telling Law about his best friend’s death threats, but decided it was better to prepare him in advance. After all, the two could both literally kill each other if he wasn’t careful.
“I am not a nice guy. Don’t lie to your friends about me, they’ll be upset when they get to know me.” Law scolded. “And great. Now I have to try not to kill your best friend while also trying to stay alive. Who the hell are these people?” Law sighed.
“It’ll be fineee. But they did say you were sooooo hot.” Luffy gushed. Law would never accept that he in fact was a nice guy so Luffy gave up on it for the time being.
“And how the hell do they even know what I look like?” Law presented a valid question. Luffy then realized he had exposed himself for sneaking pictures of Law. Oops… He really couldn’t keep any secrets from this man.
Law had demanded he show him the photo and raged at him for taking and sending ‘weird pictures that make me look like a fucking serial killer’ to his friends. Luffy thought he looked really handsome in the picture. He told Law that if he had a problem with it, he needed to provide better pictures so Luffy could show people his hot boyfriend. After being pushed about it multiple times, Law begrudgingly agreed to take a selfie with Luffy. Luffy snapped a normal one before sneaking a kiss to Law’s cheek. He took a photo at the exact moment that Law realized and he gave Luffy his usual scowl.
Luffy cackled at the photo which Law had attempted to steal his phone and delete. He secretly set it as his background and threw the phone across the room and out of Law’s reach. The two spent the remainder of their evening playfully bickering with each other before eventually going to bed. The emotional weight had worn them out on top of that, Law had been tirelessly working for the past few days.
Luffy was happy. He felt like they were on the same page now and that they could move forward. Now he needed to figure out how the hell he would go about healing the heart of this extremely traumatized and broken man. He didn’t have an answer right now but he would find one. He was confident in that. He would search tirelessly until he found one. Until then, he was content with the notion that Law had asked him to stay this time. Not that he really gave him much of a choice, of course.
