'Five days in a row they go to this school and then for two they stay home and apparently goof off, save for these heroes. That boy can't keep using whatever trick he keeps using to avoid me.'
"Are you going to finally attack us or are you going to continue to be a coward?" Var turned to see Eli standing there looking board.
"You, how did you know I was here? I've hid my presence even from you." Var hissed.
"Sure, you can hide from Lee and Sakura's senses, but I'm more attuned to your nasty aura than they are." Eli retorted.
"Do you think I'm so foolish as to make the same mistakes that Fey and Trenton did?"
"What I want to know is why? You know that they won't use the cards on you unless its necessary. They aren't going to let you attune the counter card to their cards."
"I'm not going straight for your cards' successors, Clow. I'm going to pick apart that little group and that Karthing boy shall be first."
"He's already outsmarted you, Var. You can't out think him." Eli taunted.
"He's just a boy. He'll make a mistake sooner or later." he replied with a grin. "But are you going to attack me?"
"Now why would I allow myself to help you in your plan?"
"Then begone, I haven't the time for annoyances like reincarnated fools." he growled.
"Then remember this, they will defeat you." Eli said and teleported the moment the bell rang.
'Bah, reincarnation wasn't kind to him.' Var mused.

'Well, so far you've avoided him, now, where can I jump home?' Josh mused. He was about to activate the program when he saw that he didn't have his connection to the program. 'Damn, what a time for dad to be doing something.' he thought. 'Well, hopefully I can make it before he finds out that I can jump.' and with that, Josh makes a mad dash for home.

'Ah, so the boy can't pull that teleportation trick. Excellent.' Var mused and teleported only to be standing in front of the boy genius and fired off a spell. Josh was lucky enough to avoid the spell.
"You've been watching me." Josh stated.
"Not just you, but the rest of your little band of heroes. Fey and Trenton made the mistakes of going after either the cards or Sakura herself. they went after the stronger members of the group and failed. I, however, have decided to take a different approach. While Madison is weaker for she appears to bring nothing to the group, she has a bond with card mistress. You, on the other hand, aren't as close. Pick you off then I pick Madison off." he explained but a mini-missile stopped his explanation.
"You leave her alone do you hear me!?" Josh shouted.
"Oooh, so you are close to that girl are you? Well, don't worry, you won't care about her once you are dead." Var retorted and fired off another blast of magic at Josh.

"Whoa! That's Var alright." Kero let out.
"He feels...so, dark." Sakura said summoning Fly.
"Yeah, you better get Lee, feels like Var's found someone to attack." Kero stated.

"Is this all you have, just a bunch of toys and beams to hit me with? How you managed to survive as long as you have is somewhat of a miracle." Var taunted. The dark mage teleports out of the way of an attack from Wulf and avoids a second attack from Meilin. "Predictable." he said shaking his head at the two.
"We'll show you predictable!" Meilin shouted, but her attacked missed for he had teleported again to try and focus on Josh again.
'Damn, out of mini-missiles. I'll have to rely on the laser and my two beam weapons.' he thought continue to repel Var's attacks.
"Shot!" Sakura cried from the air and Var had to continue to teleport away from Shot's attacks.
'Damn, the card's magical signature keeps changing! My card will be useless until they use more. Better weaken the boy further.' Var thought and fired of an intense ball of black energy. It crashed into Josh's shield and appeared to do nothing, but the ball intensified in power and Josh had to pump more energy into his shield. However, the more he pored into his shields, the stronger the ball got. then, his wrist band overheated and there was an explosion. Meilin swore and Var's laughter could be heard as he teleported away from the group.

"Ugh," he lets out. He opens his eyes to see that his head was in Madison's lap and said girl was looking down at him in concern. He then noted that he was laying on the couch in Sakura's living room. "What happened?"
"Your equipment was pushed too far and the energy overload was too much for you. Fortunately, the healing card was able to revive you. You took a beating out there." Eli explained.
"Guess he's tougher than I thought." Meilin said once again teasing the boy. Madison glare at Meilin but Josh shook her comments off.
"It's ok, Madison, she treats me like an older sister, at least, that's how I see it." Josh replied and Meilin glared down at the boy.
"Don't go fighting him again with out calling us first, you got me?" Meilin demanded.
"Don't worry, until I can get my stuff fixed I'm not going to be useful to anyone at the moment."
"Ok you, what is his game?" Lee bit out.
"He's never acted so, methodically, but of course, I didn't get to know him before he tried to take the cards." Eli started.
"So he's behaving different. He was sealed up for several hundred years! He watched our fights with Fey, Trenton, and all the others we've fought. So, we just have to work harder to beat his ass." Meilin said with grim determination. this seemed to motivate the rest and their collective resolve was strengthen.
