It was a full week after Mamoru’s death, everyone was happy or at least relieved, and mainly Kafir was relieved that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend and rapist was out of their lives forever. He wrapped his arms protectively around Usagi’s waist as they all read books. It was one of the things that Rei suggested that they all do as it would calm a lot of people down, as they sat around the dojo.
Mina spoke up, “Listen to this,
My heart is free to love,
Now that it has been rescued.
By the man who rescued my heart.
I will share with him my heart for he owns my heart.
That’s so sweet! That reminds me of Usagi and Kafir!”
Usagi smiled as she leaned into the warmth of the man who saved her from more torture and rapes. She reached up and planted a kiss on Kafir’s cheek, who’s face gave only a slight hint of the smile he had – it was only his eyes that smiled.
They chatted and shared a meal amongst them before the Soldiers and the Sailors all headed for their respective homes. Kafir looked out over his balcony of his apartment when he felt the hand on his shoulder. He cocked his head to one side to see his younger sister standing there by his side. “You sense trouble on the air do you not sister?”
“I do, there is something bad coming and I fear we may be called into action. Maybe you should ask Solace about our feelings of ill?” asked Hotaru, looking at her older brother.
“Solace might figure out what’s going on. I shall visit him tonight and tell him about it,” Kafir said, before he vanished in a burst of purple light.
Two weeks later, the Soldier Senshi returned to the Sol Kingdom, where two men were having a discussion that dealt with the kingdom of Earth for after the discussion with the Prince of Saturn, they knew that trouble was brewing and the balance needed to be restored quickly.
“They will have to search for Sailor Earth then. There are two Senshi -- sailor and soldier, to represent balance. If there is only Alantas, power will become unbalanced soon and it will be an invitation for destruction,” spoke Eclipse, looking at Solace.
“So she must be found. Alert the Sailors and the Soldiers about the mission,” spoke Solace, as he got up from his throne and walked out to the hallway where he found Hisharo, standing there. “I need you.” Solace whispered, to him.
“As I need you, love,” Hisharo whispered, as they headed for Solace’s chambers.
Alantas walked into the throne room to see Solace about something very serious when Eclipse informed him that he had just left for his chambers. Alantas hoped to catch him before he got into his chamber.
Solace and Hisharo were within their chambers and giving themselves to each other, totally unaware of the approach of someone coming towards the chamber. Alantas softly knocked on the door but hears nothing as he opened the door to find Solace and Hisharo in bed with each other and sees how much they show their love for each other. So he decides to wait to speak with him, but he nods off in the chair in the hallway.
Kafir, walking towards his chambers with a towel in hand, heard screams emitting from the hallway of the dojo. He found Alantas thrashing about on the floor, went to his side and tries to get him to wake up. “Alantas, wake up!” Kafir yells, shaking the young man.
Alantas opened his eyes, still blurred from the sleep cries out, “Rapist!” and finally pulled out his dagger and lunged at Kafir, thinking he was the one in his dream.
Kafir stepped back away from Alantas in shock of the accusation before he felt the sting of Alantas’s dagger in his side. Kafir yanked the weapon from Alantas’s hand and lunged for him, going for the pressure points on Alantas and pinning him against the floor. “Alantas, calm down. It’s me, Kafir!”
“Kafir, is it you or is this another nightmare,” whispered Alantas, looking up at him.
“It’s me, friend. Tell me about this nightmare,” asked Kafir, releasing him from the pressure point he put on him.
“Iie! (No!)” yelled Alantas, as he pushed Kafir away and ran out of the dojo for the stables.
Kafir stood there shocked, as he heard the door swing open to reveal Solace standing there with a robe over his body. Kafir turned to look at him and bowed his head to him. “Alantas had a nightmare, sire, which I tried to awaken him from. Someone must have hurt him deeply for it to come out in his dreams. I don’t know what to do, Solace-san.”
Solace spoke, placing his hand on Kafir’s shoulder. “This is what you need to do my friend - find Alantas, but be careful. Let him have space to breath until he's ready,”
Kafir nodded as he walked out of the dojo and headed for Alantas’s chambers to find that he was not there. He decides to head for the stables where he might be at or even the training dojo. Kafir noticed the light shining from the open stable’s doors. He approached the stable to look within.
There standing in the light of the lamp, Alantas was grooming one of the horses. Kafir standing within the doorway, watched him as he groomed his horse. "Hello Alantas, o genki desu ka? (how are you?)"
Alantas didn't look up as he ran the brush over the horse's flank. "I'm sorry for earlier...I was still dreamin'."
"That is all right, Alantas. Can you tell me what you were dreaming about?" asked Kafir. "It might help,"
Alantas flinched. "I...I don't really remember it. A lot of darkness and pain....that's it," The larger young man set the brush down and picked up a wide tooth comb and began working on the horse's mane. “I could hear Endymion's voice in the darkness..."
"What did he do to you?" whispered Kafir. He knew Endymion was not noble like everyone wanted him to be. Alantas must have seen more than what they had known about him.
"I don't know..." Alantas said softly, bowing his head slightly, allowing his dark blue bangs to cast a shadow over his green eyes.
"I understand, Alantas. I do," spoke Kafir, as he placed his hand on his shoulder. Alantas flinched slightly. "If you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you?" spoke Kafir, smiling gently at him.
"I know, Kafir-san, and I appreciate it." Alantas said, as Kafir smiled and walked out of the stables back to the others who were waiting for him to return.
“Kafir, is it true? Alantas stabbed you!” asked Ares.
Eros eyed his dark comrade. "If it was intentional Alantas would be on death's door, War-Monger."
Hermes looked thoughtful. "Solace-san told us that you awakened him from a nightmare. Have you discovered of what he was dreaming to distress him so?"
“Oh please, Love-boy! Everyone knows that Kafir would not kill him intentionally, right, Kafir?” asked Ares.
"He didn't say much just that he remembered something about Endymion." Kafir said. Eros straightened and Hermes looked alarmed. Kafir noticed this and looked at them both. “Do you two know something about them?”
Hermes looked grim. "If Endymion was involved, then his grasp on us lingers from the grave."
Eros nodded. "I've always sensed serious hatred between the two of them. The level of hatred is completely unlike Alantas."
"Perhaps, something happened between them that we do not know about. He may tell us about this dark secret of his cousin later. But for now, he needs our support," Kafir said, gently.
"He shall always have out support!" Eros said passionately in defense of his friend.
The blue haired male Senshi of Mercury grimaced. "They grew up together if memory serves correctly. It is possible that Endymion did something to Alantas when they were boys."
Ryoken spoke, "Since we know what that scum is like to his women and his fellow people...it is obvious that that scum did something to Alantas."
"Agreed," Hermes stated.
"But what...we shall not know till Alantas feels he can share his pain. But Solace has asked us to meet with him about something," said Ryoken.
Eros sighed. "I'd rather you peek in the time stream so you can figure out what happened, Ryoken-kun, but those rules forbid you from doing that..."
"Let us hurry to meet with Solace-san. Maybe he has an idea on what we should do in his situation."
They entered the room and bowed to Solace, which he returned as he sat down. "I have a mission for you and the Sailor Senshi to do. It is important because of the death of...eh...Endymion. The powers are no longer in balance with each other and there has to be two in power - a Sailor and a Soldier. We have a Soldier of Earth but Sailor Earth must be found soon."
Hermes nodded. "Agreed, Solace-san, what of the situation with Alantas?"
"I feel that Alantas’ pain will be dealt with during this mission," Solace-san spoke.
Eros sighed in relief. "Good. What he's feeling right now is very traumatizing to his psyche and damage to him mentally and spiritually can damage the Earth itself."
"True. But let him have space if he has another nightmare. But also let him know you are there to help him," Solace-san suggested. "He has gone through something very bad to have nightmares about."
Hermes bit his lip. "Do you think that his pain will draw out the Sailor Senshi of Earth? All Senshi are empathic to the pain of our comrades..."
“I believe so. His pain will possibly bring her out, but if his pain is like this, think about what her’s is like?” said Solace-san.
“Her’s must be intensely bad. But how can we find her?” asked Ares.
“Do not worry about that. Just watch for her to show up and if you do not find her, alert me and I’ll come and aid the search,” spoke Solace-san.
Right after the other Soldier Senshi left the room; Hisharo remained behind as he went to Solace’s side and whispered, “Do you think Alantas saw us in bed?”
“I do not know but maybe he did and that sparked his memory,” whispered Solace-san. “You best go with the others. They are waiting.”
Alantas sighed and rested his head on the horse's neck. "I feel like a coward." he whispered to himself.
Kafir walked into the barn. "Alantas, we have a mission now. Solace-san says it is important."
The larger young man sighed and placed the comb back in the grooming box. "Let us depart then."
Kafir nodded as he watched Alantas put the horse back in his stall and walked towards him as they headed off to join the others already on Earth at the dojo of Rei's grandfather.
