A Wing and a Prayer

The night sky was clear and bright as Chihaya leaned onto the balcony rail. \"Kagetsuya where are you?\" the black hared angel wondered to himself. Two days ago Kagetsuya had left the apartment with no word as to where he was going. Chihaya didn\'t even know he had gone until he had woken up and realized the tall blond angel was nowhere to be found.

Tears misted in Chihaya\'s eyes, obscuring the stars. \"He\'s left me.\" The thought was as hard edged as glass. It cut away at all the hopes and dreams he had built. Hanging his head Chihaya reflected on the past few months. \"I don\'t blame you.\" He whispered softly to the nigh

After all he had been the one withdrawing from Kagetsuya. Obsessed first by the color of his wings and then by finding someone with the same coloring, he had forgotten that Kagetsuya had needs of his own. Chihaya closed violet eyes that burned with shame. Some lover he was, to put himself above and before the one who truly mattered.

Opening his eyes Chihaya looked back out at the sky. \"I don\'t deserve you, Kagetsuya. I have been so selfish. Oh Kagetsuya forgive me.\"

The dark angel was startled when a beautiful baritone voice spoke from behind. \"No, you don\'t deserve me... But I forgive you.\"

Spinning around without even looking Chihaya threw himself at his lover. Kagetsuya\'s strong arms enveloped him in a tight embrace. Making an inarticulate cry Chihaya clung to the tall angel rubbing his cheek against the warm hard chest. \"It doesn\'t matter ’m a’m a mutant with only one wing so long as I have you. I was terrified that I had lost you Kagetsuya.\"

Chihaya felt Kagetsuya\'s hands weave into his hair pulling him closer. He shivered as the rich voice of his beloved tickled against his ear. \"I’m not going to leave you. You’re mine Chihaya, even if you are self absorbed sometimes.\"

Chihaya closed his eyes as relief flooded through him. Tightening hiss ars around Kagetsuya\'s, he listened to the taller angel\'s heartbeat. It filled the silence seeming to match the beat of his heart.

The soft sound of someone clearing her throat caught Chihaya\'s attention. Keeping his arms locked around Kagetsuya, Chihaya stood up on the tips of his toes to peer over his lover\'s shoulder. A tall silver hared woman stood framed in the light of the doorway. From what he could see of her face she was blushing.

Pulling away from his lover he looked up at Kagetsuya before looking back at the woman in the doorway. Kagetsuya turned to bow to the woman. \"Pardon me Sarah, I should have realized Chihaya would misinterpret my absence.\" Reaching out a long elegant hand Kagetsuya turned back to his dark little angel. \"Chihaya, This is Sarah. She is a Lucifer. Before she became a Lucifer she was one of Eden\'s finest healers. I had heard she was on earth. When you lost your wing I decided to try and find her. She might be able to help you. But I didn\'t tell you where I was going because I didn\'t want to raise your hopes in case she couldn\'t be found.

Violet eyes shimmered in the light from the hallway as Chihaya gave Sarah his full attention. The tall silver hared angel was delicately made. Sarah looked more like a doll than a real person. Large violet eyes much like Chihaya\'s filled the sculptured face. \"I will have to take a look at your back to know for certain weather or not a new wing could be re-fused to your back. But even if it is possible you may not be able to regain the full use of it.

Shaking his head Chihaya couldn\'t keep from smiling. \"But I should be able to fly?\"

Sarah nodded her eyes a little sad. \"Yes you should be able to fly. Providing the surgery is possible in the first place. Turn around please and show me your wings. \"

Kagetsuya bit back against the pain in Chihaya\'s eyes as the realization that this might not work set in. Cling ing his fists he watched as Chihaya turned so that his back faced the healer. Slowly the black angel removed his shirt before unfurling his remaining wing and the bit of bone that was left from the wing that had been torn away.

Stepping closer to Chihaya, Sarah pushed the glossy black feathers away from the broken wing bone. The dark angel shivered as the healer\'s cold hands touched his skin. The room was deathly silent as Sarah made her examination. Expert hands made their way over the still sensitive area without causing any pain. Even so, Chihaya shuttered when the hands finally dropped away. He spun slowly back around afraid of what Sarah might have to say.

His heart beat so loudly in his chest he felt that both Sarah and Kagetsuya must hear it. Chihaya was proud that his voice only shook a little when he spoke. \"So how does it look?\"

Kagetsuya leaned forward to grab Chihaya\'s hand. He squeezed it tightly as he turned to hear Sarah\'s answer.

Sarah smiled and the heavy air that hung over the balcony vanished in that simple gesture. \"We\'re in luck. There is enough bone left a rea re-attachment. I cannot promise you it will look and feel exactly as your original wing did. But if you wish to have the surgery we can give you a new wing.

The tall blond angel turned to his lover. A warm glow filled him as he saw the happiness etched into Chihaya\'s face.

Exuberantly Chihaya faced Kagetsuya, wrapping the taller angel in his one remaining wing. Then Chihaya kissed Kagetsuya deeply. Kagetsuya sighed, leaning into both the kiss and the warm darkness of Chihaya\'s wing.

Sarah watched the pair a hiding a smirk behind her hand. It didn\'t matter to her that it was a crime for Chihaya and Kagetsuya to be together, they really did make a cute couple.
