It was already 7:00pm at Tokio, specifically at Kamiya Dojo, and it was unusually quiet. Sano was at the clinic with Megumi because of his broken arm (yeah right!!), and Yahiko was going to stay a couple of days, starting today, at the Akabeko (he had to score some points with Tsubame… so there you go!). That left Kenshin and Kaoru alone at the dojo for a couple of days, at least they’ll rest from the stupid jokes from Sano, and the annoyance of Yahiko.
“Kaoru, dinner’s ready”, said Kenshin, to the young raven-haired girl across the dojo who was cleaning the last trace of dust from the wall. He saw as she enter the dining room, how she walked, moving her hips from side to side. Not trying to be sexy at all, but being naturally, that’s even sexier!! Her eyes, as deep blue sea, capture his attention, and once again he was hypnotized by her sight…Something that had been happening for a couple of months.
“Kenshin… are you alright?” Kaoru asked him, waking him up from his daydream. She was starting to worry about those lapses that were getting more common. “…huh? Yeah… Never better, never better! I’m going to set the table”. Trying to avoid her, he instantly went to get the food to the table. Kaoru just stared at him, *ok, what’s up with him!!??*.
They ate in silence. They didn’t know why but there was a very weird atmosphere around. No, they both knew what it was, but they didn’t know the other one knew it… (ok that was weird, but I think you get the idea! :D). While Kaoru played with the food, she was building something in her head, *Ok, tonight is the night, I’ll tell him my feelings. I don’t care if he loves me back… at least I’ll know I try*. On the other hand, Kenshin, also deep in his thoughts, *She’s driving me crazy! God she’s so beautiful. I have to try, at least for once to know if, she wants to be with me. Although, she deserves better, I have to try…*.
Both finish dinner, and help each other with the dishes. Each went to their respective rooms and stayed there, but not for long. After changing her kimono to a slight yukata, and loosen her hair, Kaoru went outside her room to make some tea and sit on the porch. Half an hour later, Kenshin exit his room. He couldn’t sleep either; he had to plan how he would tell her. He began walking through the dojo, and suddenly there she was… sitting on the porch, with the moon making her glow in the darkness of the night. She, then turned around to face him, “I knew you’ll come, I can’t sleep well either.” She smiled at his amazed face. “Come, join me. I’ll get you a cup of tea. It’s the first time it’s good so I want to share it with you tonight!” She passed along him and fixed him a small cup with the hot liquid. She suddenly grabbed his hand and guided him to the porch to join her. He just kept surprised about how she was acting; she was dying in the inside! She has never been so outgoing in her life, but she had to do it. For her own good.
He sat down and started drinking the hot liquid (that was actually good), and both looked up to the sky. The sight was so romantic, the moon was big, full, and yellow; exactly how she liked it. The stars were shining at all their glory, and there was no cloud on the sky that could interfere on the view… *the moment its perfect, the place is perfect, the sight is perfect… I can’t blow it off!!*, they both thought.
“Umm… Kaoru, I wanted to talk to you about something that has been on my head for a long time, and I can’t stop thinking about it--”, Kenshin hide his eyes behind his red bangs. Kaoru, suddenly felt as she could read his mind; *OMG, he’s at the same situation I’m right now! God you’re so great!*.
She placed a finger on his lips before he could finish the sentence. His eyes popped out, and saw her intensely,*what happened to her, she’s not the same*. Kaoru watched his face with delight, and merely stop herself from bursting unto laugh from his face. She then put her cup down and placed one hand on his scarred-cheek, and with the one that was on his lips, she took his tea cup and also put it down. “Hush… you don’t have to explain anything, I know already. That’s why I’m here…” He immediately understood, and soften his face, smiling while placing his hand above hers in his cheek.
“Can you love this sessha, even if he can’t give you much?” with his other hand he took hers. She could help but smile at his silly question. Of course she can, she have always loved him. “Of course, and can you love this Tanuki-girl, even if I can’t cook well and can’t be as lady-like as Megumi?” He smiled too and get his face closer to hers, so their almost rubbed his noses. “Koishi, I love you as you are. If you change, then you wouldn’t be the Kaoru that I’m in love with” They both saw oth other before he kissed her sweet and lovingly.
After a while they broke the kiss, searching for air. “Now, what’s supposed to happen?” asked Kaoru, clueless of what would be the next step to take. He smiled at her innocence and hugged her from behind and told her, “Whatever you want to happen. It’s up to you, I’m doing whatever you let me to do, ok?” and kissed her on the cheek.
Kaoru had a lot of things inside her head, and she was nervous but she wanted to do it badly, and the most important thing is that she loved him, and she trust him with her eyes closed. “Kenshin, I want you to show me how much you can love me, teach me also how to love you and worship you”. Kenshin turned her to face him, he wasn’t sure about what she was talking about (he knew, he just couldn’t believe what he was listening!). “Anata, make love to me…”
