I do not own Descendants of Darkness (Yami no Matsuei), nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Lunch With God
This was merely a writing excerise for me, to get a muse off my back mostly. None of the wip\'s I have seemed to interest it, so when I came upon the little story I\'ve included below mine, the muse finally found something that let me write so that I could go to bed without being driven nuts by the muse pestering me.
The passage below I found over the internet and I\'m sure some people have seen it before, I thought it might be cute to do it in a Yami setting, though the end gave me fits until my Watari muse stepped in and helped me ^^;
One more note, then I\'ll let you go read ^^; When I r to to Watari as Tatsumi\'s \'partner\' I mean that in a sexual way, not the shinigami \'partner\' way ^^;
Lunch with God
“Where’s mommy?” the little girl asked looking up at her father quietly. The man looked down at her and debated his answer before replying softly.
“Mommy is with God now.”
“Where is God?”
“...He lives far up in the sky.” He replied quietly as he moved to pick her up and carry her home.
A couple days later the little girl decided that she would go and meet God, even though her daddy had told he lived in the sky, but she had seen a place that had surely been where he lived. It was so tall, that its pointed top touched the heavens, so surely that’s where God lived. So she packed a small suitcase with rice balls and juice cans so that she would have something to eat and drink along the way. Making her way out of the house, she had walked to the foot of the tower when she saw the older man sitting at the bench to one side, quietly watching the people come and go from the tower.
Smiling she walked over and sat down beside him to rest from her trip, she didn’t want to be worn out when she met God of course, that might be rude. Quietly opening her case, she took out a can of juice, then recalled the man beside her and pulled out a second, offering it to him with a quiet smile. The older man’s head turned then and the eyes behind the glasses on the man’s face were like twin blue lakes, the kind she’d seen once on vacation with her mommy and daddy. He smiled then and silently took the can from her hand. Wanting to see him smile again, she pulled out one of the rice balls from her suitcase and offered it to him, waiting.
The man smiled again as he nodded his thanks and took the snack from her hand. She beamed at him as she took one out for herself and began eating, offering him a new can or rice ball when she saw that he was finished with the last one. Without words the two of them passed the afternoon in this fashion, smiling and eating, watching the people come and go in front of them. Soon though the sun began to sink down, darkening the sky. The little girl yawned once and decided she should be getting home now before it grew any darker. She stood up from the bench and began to walk away, but after taking a couple steps away; she paused, set her suitcase down and ran back to the man watching from the bench, wrapping her arms about him in a hug. The man smiled brightly at her and she released him, running back to retrieve her case before walking back home.
Her father noticed the look of utter joy shinning from her eyes and smile as she came inside. “What did you do today that made you so happy?” he asked. “I met God today and we had lunch together!” she told him brightly, continuing before he could respond, to say, “Did you know he has the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”
Meanwhile, the man was returning to his own place when his partner noticed the quiet look of peace settled over his features, a blond eyebrow quietly arching in query. “Might I ask what you did today to relax you so much, Tatsumi?”
The older shinigami glanced quietly towards Watari and smiled quietly. “I had lunch with God.” He stated simply, causing the blond brow to arch higher above an amused amber gold eye.
“Oh really?”
“Not exactly, but it might as well have been.”
“Aa..”
“You know something Watari-san?”
“Hmm? What?”
“God is much younger than I expected.”
The scientist did a double take at Tatsumi before chuckling quietly, murmuring softly to himself as he watched Tatsumi leave the room. “And people say you don’t have a sense of humor, heh.”

As I said above, here\'s the passage that inspired this ficlet ^^
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his Root Beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a Root Beer.
Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, \"What did you do today that made you so happy? He replied, \"I had lunch with God.\" But before his mother could respond, he added, \"You know what? He\'s got the most beautiful smile I\'ve ever seen!\"
Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, \"Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?\" He replied, \"I ate Twinkies in the park with God.\" However, before his son responded, he added, \"You know, he\'s much younger than I expected.\"
