MAD WORLD
By Silver Foxfire

--All around me are familiar faces
--Worn out places, worn out faces

Curves... Black fingers slid along them, the cold and hard surface of the wine bottle. Amethystine eyes watched the leather squeak quietly against the glass, a paper label flaking upward beneath fingertiHe fHe felt eyes on him and ignored it for a moment.

--Bright and early for their daily races
--Going nowhere, going nowhere

Shattered glass, a melodic tinkling and a gasping body, trembling in pain. A moment was too long. A pale boy swathed in black slunk forward with a drunken sway to his body. A relaxed form, slinking.

--Their tears are filling up their glasses
--No expression, no expression

A leather fist curled into blonde hair. It was always yellow, wasn\'t it? Yes. Always it was. Never brown, never black... A scream and it was orang cra crack and it was red. Red... that\'s a good color.

--Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow
--No tomorrow, no tomorrow

A crouching figure over a still, red body. Fingers pooling in warm liquid - thick and metallic in its delightful shine. Fire looks so lovely reflected in it, doesn\'t it? Yes, it does. Fingers tracing meaningless images on peachy skin.

--And I find it kinda funny
--I find it kinda sad

A flicker of a candle, a body catching fire. A shout - Arms enfolding. A sense of calm as the boy in black relaxes and watches as men in long r swi swirl around the body. \"I made him lovely,\" he giggles. \"But not as lovely as me.\"

--The dreams in which I\'m dying
--Are the best I\'ve ever had

That room again. Dark and too bright at the same time. A pillar of lights. So many of them. White fingers reach, playing games with the lights. The pretty beams. He held the hand before him, seeing the red in his fingers, the light showing through his hand. He thrashed, feeling heat spread over his hands and brought it back up to the light, feeling that liquid warmth kle kle down his arm. He smiled.

--I find it hard to tell you
--I find it hard to take

Held away, hands tied up in more white. Layers of it, he struggled in them. He smiled again - pretty, delightful red. Eyes watching him from the dark. He giggled.

--When people run in circles
--It\'s a veveryvery
--Mad world... Mad world

Another one, more pretty than the last one. Dark hair and dark skin. Brown, a strange thing. Burned, maybe... it wasn\'t clean. He didn\'t like it. It was too dark. It wasn\'t pretty. Shrieks in the black room.

--Children waiting for the day they feel good
--Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday

The men again, the men in dresses. Black and green, green and gold, gold and black. Wrinkled and ugly. Not pretty enough. Not smooth. Too soft. They weren\'t worthy of red... he was glad they disliked it so much.

--Made to feel the way that every child should
--Sit and listen, sit and listen

Ticking clocks, metronome pace. Trickling water and sparkles in the light. Eyes, as clear as water basins. Tears flowing from pretty eyes. Blue.. he didn\'t like blue either. A sobbing scream. Pretty... pretty red eyes and red tears... that was better.

--Went to school and I was very nervous
--No one knew me, no one knew me

The room again, black and bright, dark and light. Voices floating around him. He didn\'t listen. Those voices weren\'t lovely. Rough and scratched voices. If they were smooth, he would like them. Ugly, ugly men.

--Hello teacher tell me what\'s my lesson
--Look right through me, look right through me

Pretty... red eyes. Hair as clear as spring water. Pale skin and violet tears. White hands reached up, touching the hard cheeks. Not soft... This was lovely. A shining claw in the darkness. The little one giggled.

--And I find it kinunnyunny
--I find it kinda sad

Arms embracing, both hard. Body lifted and the men in dresses hissing. \"You must not corrupt the experiment!\" Experiments... Needles. Needles that produced the pretty red. Hurting... but good.

--The dreams in which I\'m dying
--Are the best I\'ve ever had

\"Nonsense. He is not a dog. His viciousness is self-contained. If you progress the experiment further, he will be beyond control,\" smooth and deep. The little one closed his eyes. Vocal darkness.

--I find it hard to tell you
--I find it hard to take

Years passing, the red-eye is gone. Missing. Eliminated from memory. It must not have been important. No more bodies, no more blood. Through the ranks, ugly, hairy men dying at the hands holding a silver blade. A child ascending the ranks. A mad prodigy.

--When people run in circles
--It\'s a very, very

Boys beneath him, his lovely army. Smooth and hard. Cold and quiet. Very fair... No darkness within his precious few, no flaws. Flaws were to be corrected. Screams and cries, a striking hand.

--Mad world ... Mad world...
--Enlarging your world
--Mad world

A man. With red eyes. Hair as clear as spring water. Pale skin and violet tears. White hands reached up, touching the hard cheeks. Not soft... This was lovely. A shining claw in the darkness. The commander giggled.

\"Dilandau, the Strategos Folken will escort you on your mission.\"
