Fruits baskets: If Walls Told Stories
Disclaimer: I do not own Fruits Basket. It belongs to Natsuki Takaya. Some of the names and stuff that appear in the manga/ anime do appear in this story but this an AU.
First off before I begin I would just like everyone to know that the characters are original characters of mine and the story is completely different though it has the same concept. The characters that Natsuki Takaya have created are not in this fan fiction, I don’t even know if you would actually call this a fan fiction. It’s set during another time in the zodiac family, (it’s the same family).
I am a huge fan of furuba and mainly why I wanted to do a fic like this was because I wondered about the people that would become before it or if the family cursed continued and Tohru failed what it would be like after. The story just kept playing in my head and since I don’t have anything else better to do I decide hey why not try this out? It’ll be a different kind of experience. Oh! And just to warn you guys and gals, I have problems updating a lot and it takes a while because I tend to suffer a lot from writers block, so please don’t yell your voice at me if you want me to update sooner (Not that my fic is actually any good, but if you think so thanks). It makes me rush to do my fic and then I end up hating it because I feel like I didn’t do it right. Right now I don’t know how people will think about it. But anyway, I hope you enjoy this story that I have created if you decide to continue on with reading. Thank You. Since I am very intrigued by the whole history of the cat there is a lot about him in this story, but it still centers around the rest of the zodiac members. Hey, there might even be some juicy Yaoi, because I just love yaoi. Diu knu know that the cat is in the Vietnamese zodiac? It replaces the rabbit. It made me so happy to hear that the cat has a place somewhere but I do love Momiji and would never want him to not have a place. But still it’s cool!

~*Chapter 1*~
The main house halls were dark, overcome by the silence and anguish, years of pain and suffering stenched the halls with it’s putrid smell and brought about such negativity that even the manors architectural beauty could not wash away the horrors that lie within. Not even the soft, falling petals of the cherry blossoms that stood proudly in the houses courtyards could make up for such crimes it would be useless for the chosen members of the household to pretend that everything was okay.
Footsteps tapped softly down the long corridor overwhelmed by dark shadows. They moved to the sliding door at the end, pausing hesitantly, but only for a second. A small, fragile hand reaches out to lie flat on the door before pushing it slightly open. Screams, hoarse screams exploded from within the room, horrible, piercing screams followed by a rush of footsteps. Little eyes peeked in through the door. There was the sound of struggled breath and panting. It was a woman and she was screaming and yelling and struggling for air. The little ears could hear the voice of an elder woman speaking soft, soothing words to the struggling girl. A large body passes by quickly like a blur and out of sight. There are three of them; no four for the little ears could hear another voice, a male voice and the clinging of items.
It had begun. The old females voice began to speak “It’s alright deary, it’ll be over soon”
“ Mitsuko, breath. I know it’s tough but you need to control your breathing.” Said the male voice in a calm and collected manner.
The woman could be heard struggling, voice cracking, pleading for the pain of her labor to go away. She cried, “Ahh! I…can’t!”
Footsteps moved across the room to the forced panting. “ I need you to push for me. Push!” Said the male voice.
“Aahh!” The woman struggled.
And then, from the other end of the hall, something began thumping towards the room. The eyes moved away from the screen door and headed for a small corner to disappear within the shadows. Someone had appeared along with three others and they hurried towards the room. It was he, the one who ruled their very lives. He had such a pale complexion and his face was covered in shadows. The three walked passed the little one, unaware that someone was watching t The The sliding door slid closed and the footsteps rushed back to the door, prying it open again.
This time Mitsuko was screaming, loudly, the man’s voice commanding her to push harder. It went on for a few minutes and then finally, with one great struggling breath, Mitsuko pushed with all her might and there it came… The horrible screeching.
The elderly woman gasped sharply as the young mother began to cry and howled, “It’s hideous! My god! It’s so hideous!”
The bystanders gagged in disgust.
“Do you smell that? What an awful stench.” It was putrid, unbearable, like death. The stench encircled the room and leaked out from the crack of the door and the one from behind it jumped back and held his hand to his mouth. It was all so horrible, the struggling cries of the mother, the smell and the dark, cursed atmosphere of the manor…but nothing was more horrible than the piercing, screeching howl of the newborn infant.
Suddenly, the doors slid open and in front of the peering eyes stood, the pale, dark man, the head of the household, with eyes like cold stone with no shine staring down at him. The little boy took a step back almost naturally and cringed slightly at the towering figure.
“ Genji, don’t you think you should be in bed?” replied the head.
And Genji sped off down the corridor away from the room, away from the screeching, infant howls that echoed throughout the early morning. It was the birth, not of a new member exactly, but of the outcast, the misfit, piranha of the Sohma clan, destined to live a life of utter suffering and excommunication. In that exact room, just now, the new cat had been born…

Well, that is the end of chapter one and if you like it then you could move on to chapter two when I finish with it and I’ll get working on it! I promise. I got a good start on it and I am actually happy with the beginning paragraph ^_^. I hope you have enjoyed this chapter and you will continue to read my story. Please review and tell me if did not like it.
