Misao walked down a dirt rode, a bag hanging off her
shoulder as she walked slowly toward her destination. She stopped and looked back at the trees and the winding path
that had taken half a day to trek through.
Being a ninja had its good points, her feet had yet to ache,
even with her sandals, being very light.
Heavy shoes cause a heavier landing, and ninja’s didn’t need to be
heard. A sigh escaped her as she looked
up to the top of the trees. Light
flittered through the treetops, making streams of light come through. Even with the sparse sunlight, it was still
too dark to be able to make out more than the outline of the objects. She was a ninja yes, but her training had
been delayed, so she still needed to learn to let her eyes focus, before she darted
them everywhere. A heavy sigh left her
as she hiked the bag onto her shoulder once more and continued walking, which
was one reason she was moving to another hideout. This was a different type of ninja’s, they fought with blades
more than stealth. They were still the
most famous of the ninja clans, meaning they knew most, if not all, the tricks
of the trade.
Her head snapped up as she sensed eyes on her, she skidded
to a stop, jumping as an arrow landed where she’d been standing. She jumped back and landed on her feet, she
jumped into the air with more height, turning sideways as she flipped her feet
backwards over head staying at an almost straight angle. Spinning slowly sideways as she dodged a few
arrows thrown at her. Her arms went
below her head and her bag toppled to the ground as she landed, in a crouching
position, three kunai between her knuckles in each hand. She stood and searched with her eyes and
ears, more wizzing of arrows could be heard.
She backed against a tree and rolled to the side of it as the arrows
thunked when they hit the trunk.
Again she darted her eyes, but she still couldn’t make out
any outlines, beyond the trees, and rocks.
She growled silently and jumped back as someone dropped in front of her
slashing down with their sword.
She gasped as she felt one side of her shirt fall, hanging
around her waist where it was tied. She
scowled and ripped the shirt from the tie.
She ducked as the sword was swung above her head. She managed to place her hand on the ground
and do a sweep kick. The man fell
backwards and tumbled to the ground.
Misao growled openly as an arrow scraped her shoulder. Misao heard a snap from her left and the
pull of the bowstring. She tossed her
three kunai in her right hand at the sound.
She heard a snap and the person holding the bow called out sharply as
the string snapped. The arrow clattered
onto a rock giving away his position.
Misao advanced throwing her other three kunai at the man. A strangled yell was heard as he fell to his
knees. Heavy breathing was heard and
Misao approached cautiously.
She grabbed two more kunai, one in each hand and searched
the dark area, only able to make out the man’s outline. She stopped as something in her told her not
to move. She heard the anguish yell as
the man crumpled to the ground. Misao
could see red blood through the tiny wisps of sunlight, which seemed to just
now appear.
Misao backed away a couple steps as a tall man stepped
forward, his eyes stood out as the stream of sunlight hit that part of his
face. The blue mixed with a gray sent
chills down her spine. The man
disappeared swiftly and three more anguish cries were heard. Misao winced at them and walked toward the
now fallen man.
“Your weapons are in my possesion at the moment.” An icy voice stated, casing Misao to stiffen
as it was behind her. “I will accompany
you as of now, no more attempts on you life.”
His voice was emotionless as he turned away from her.
Misao turned sharply.
“You would be who?” Misao’s
voice shook slightly.
“Aoshi Shinomori, Misao Makimachi.” His voice still cold and
deadpanned. “I am to train you in the
rest of the ways of the ninja.” Misao
shivered at the coldness his voice held.
“How did you already know who I was?”
She heard his light footsteps, barely, walking away from
her. “You are the only person who knows
of this rode and would be traveling it right now.” Misao’s mouth went into a thin line as she stomped after him.
Misao’s eyes went wide as she recalled his name, recognizing
it. Her thoughts drifted back to the day before when she received her
assignment.
It was a bitter cool morning, as the sun was covered with
clouds, the winds whistled around the manor in which Misao stayed. She had a flimsy yukata on, as she was
yanked from bed, not able to grab anything to place over the flimsy material.
Misao shivered as Naka stared at her hard. “You’ve been assigned a job as of now.” The man’s voice was cold and hard. “Hopefully you’ll be able to be of some
use.” Misao stood still and didn’t
flinch at the words. “Your mother threw
you here, and we haven’t wanted to train you, a girl ha?” The man stated as he waved her away. “Be ready by tomorrow morning.”
Misao walked from the room and as soon as the door was
shut she raced back to her room and changed into her training uniform. She left the room and went to the yard, the
cold seemed to bite into her skin. She
could feel something bad was coming and it had to do wit her. The feeling was in the pit of her stomach.
She closed her eyes and started to do the routine she’d
been taught. Her mind focusing only on
the movements her limbs needed to do.
A few hours later she was once again called in front of
Naka. “The others needed to be here
when I told you of your missions objective.”
His eyes and voice cold, he seemed to want o snarl at her. “I didn’t feel it was necissary to awake
them.” His voice seemed demeaning.
Misao snapped her eyes open, “I would also think that in
order to have the best operation you do this at one time, not in
multiple.” Her voice had an icy tent to
it as well.
“How dare you, wench.”
Naka rose his hand up, walking closer to her. He brought his hand halfway down before freezing. ‘How?’
His mind screamed as he felt the cool metal of a small knife against his
throat.
“Weather you wanted me trained, or not became my decision
in the end. You taught me to protect my
self. I managed to get a weapon and
thus I trained with them, stealth is a ninja’s key. I would appreciate you tell me what I need to do. I would rather leave as soon as possible.”
The men around them watched as it looked as though the small kunai was sucked
back into her hand.
Naka backed up, his hand coming down to finish, he gripped
his hand as it was sliced down the palm. Misao’s eyes glared daggers at
him. “Fine,” The Naka had to try and
bite back the pain. “You are to kill
the head of the oniwabanshuu,” Misao glowered at the man, waiting for him to
elaborate. Deep breaths met him as a
woman entered and started to work on his wound.
The men back away from Misao as moved the kunai between
her fingers. “I have one request or I
won’t take the mission.” Misao looked
up and stared into the Naka’s eyes. His
eyes turned to slits as he glared at her, “I want to be free from here, let me
go where I would like to, I won’t come back here again and you’ll never need to
feed me again.” Misao tossed a kunai up
and snatched it from the air throwing at an advancing man to her back left. The man stopped dead in his tracks as it
whizzed past him embedding into the wall.
“Fine,” The man sucked in a breath between his teeth. “The oniwabanshuu leader is named Aoshi
Shinomori. We don’t know much about him
except he has many skills, and can read people fairly well. The only way someone could kill him is for
them to get under his graces, and only one man has been able to do that, no
women. He’s loyal to all his men and
will protect the ones he’s trusted forever.
The only one that could kill him would be a lover.”
Misao’s eyes widened and she glared at him once more. “Why
choose me?” Misao snapped.
“Because you are the only woman onimistu, the rest that
work here are just that women who cook and clean, none fight. You on the other hand have never worn a
kimono, not even owned one...” He was cut off.
“What money did I have,” Her snarl made the men back
against the wall as she held kunai’s in between all her fingers.
“You never seemed interested in the ways of women, and I
didn’t need to treat you respectfully after all the only reason you are still
alive is because your grandfather was the leader, your father was a
disgrace. Your grandfather’s whishes
were for you to be cared for, and a husband, but any man here wouldn’t want a
female that wouldn’t listen to their orders.”
His eyes were narrowed even more.
“I will be out of your hair now, is there a time limit on
this?” She looked around the room.
“We will attack their base within a year and a half, it
will take you a year most likely to get to know this man.” His eyes were cold as were hers. “You can leave now.” The man snarled.
“Heh, as you wish Master,” Misao snapped her wrist and a
kunai embedded itself into Naka’s shoulder.
A howl of pain as he ripped it out.
He threw it back at her. She
caught it by the handle shaking the blood free. “You may wish to be more gentle if you want me to follow your
orders.” Misao snapped as she retrieved
her other kunai from the wall. She
left the room, the door closing wit ha resounding CLACK
‘So this is the man I am
suppose to kill, he will be far more difficult than they thought. I’ll be lucky if he trusts me in a year let
alone become his...’ A shudder ran though her as she said the word in her mind.
‘Woman.’
“You should be wearing
warmer clothes,” His deep emotionless voice broke through her thoughts and she
looked to her left.
‘When did I?’ She stared up at him blinking. She saw his eyes move and he glanced at her
from the side. “You do not need to keep
my pace.” She snapped. She covered her mouth. I am sorry Shinomori_sama” She sighed. When he stopped she was a step before him
and she looked back at him, to see him looking her over. “Did I say something to offend you?” She was confused.
Aoshi’s cold eyes met
hers. He shook his head and continued
to walk, her eyes followed him as he walked ahead of her. She bowed her head. ‘This will be hard,’ She sighed heavily and
caught up to him.
Well I finally got the
inspiration to write yet another fic.
I’ve been down lately and thus this one is a bit cold. I want a slow
story as well. I can’t tell you where
this is going. Also to those who are
reading Marriage case, I have misplaced my disc and well until I find it I will
not be writing that fic. I also am at a
loss to where to go as of right now. I
will try and find the disc soon. I also
want to point out that this fic will be romance, but that will be far later in
the story so expect her to hate him at first.
I can’t tell you what rating this will be, right now it’s pg 13 it may
change.
Please do leave comment
and let me know if I have confused you.
I will try and fix tha if I have confused someone.
I do not and will never
Own Rurouni Kenshin. I own the 9 manga out, but the story line its self and
