Author's Note: I had to correct a slight boo boo in chapter's 3 and 4. I got the words voyuer and exibitionist confused. I put the word voyuer when I meant to put in the word exibitionist. The errors have been corrected. Sorry if I may have gotten anybody confused on the two words.
Seras Victoria watched as the world whizzed by through the window of the white Rolls Royce she was riding in. She didn't know much about the new position she was being assigned to other than it was a secret organization in the service of her majesty the Queen of England. She had been told its name, Hellsing. She was going to be assigned to a position in the Hellsing Organization.
"Hellsing? That name is so familiar. I know I've heard of it somewhere before, but where? Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough." She said to herself as she looked out at the other cars speeding by her through the window.
She wanted to ask the driver if he knew anything about this Hellsing Organization, but he was rather busy keeping his eyes on the road. She just kept her hands folded in her lap as she waited for the car to finally stop at its destination. She'd been riding in the Rolls for approximately an hour and a half. She was beginning to wonder if they were every going to reach what was going to become her new home. At least where work was concerned it would be her new home.
After five more minutes of wondering the Rolls finally began to slow and turn into a well-manicured and heavily guarded driveway. Seras surmised this had to be Hellsing. Her superiors in MI-5 had told her that Hellsing was a closely guarded secret. She had to be sure she was willing to take the reassignment as she would have to help keep that secret once she became a part of it. She would be assigned to help with the growing vampire problem in not only London, but other parts of the world as well. She was a bit anxious. Seras looked out the window seeing all the armed guards surrounding the Hellsing compound. She began to sake slightly out of anxiety. She knew that vampires were a huge part of the Hellsing equation. She had no idea just how big a part the undead.
The Rolls came to a slow and steady stop. While Seras stepped out of the car she noticed two gentlemen retrieve her bags from the trunk. She also noticed a third gentleman, elderly but certainly not frail lead the other two inside the mansion. Seras slowly made her way up the stairs. The same elderly gentleman reappeared and escorted Seras inside the mansion.
"Excuse me. I don't think I caught your name sir." Seras said nervously trying to make conversation.
"My name is Walter. I am the retainer to the Hellsing family. Follow me this way please." Walter said.
Seras followed him until they came to a darkly lit study. At the desk sat a young woman going through a stack of papers. She had ash blonde hair, tanned skin and striking blue eyes. The woman looked up as Walter led Seras in front of her. Seras rung her hands nervously and tugged at her knee length grey skirt. The navy blue blouse she wore began to stick under her arms. This may have been a woman, but she was a very intimidating woman.
"Sir Integra, this is Miss Seras Victoria. She's the MI-5 agent you requested to become a part of the Hellsing Organization." Walter said.
Integra looked up at Seras with a scrutinizing gaze at the young lady's attire. "Well, it's nice to see a young lady with some decorum." Integra said flatly. She looked at a folder containing Seras's credentials. She looked up at Seras again.
"I see you have had formal combat and self-defense training. Good. I won't have to waist time or manpower trying to train you how to keep yourself alive. I trust you know how to use a gun?" Integra asked.
"Oh, yes of course." Seras answered trying to sound proper.
"Good." Integra replied dryly. "Do you have any foreknowledge of this organization and its activities?" Integra asked again.
"Well, I guess not really um...what do I call you?" Seras asked nervously.
"My name is Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing. You will address me as Sir Integra. I am the leader of the Hellsing organization and last living descendent of the Hellsing family. Now, do you have any foreknowledge of Hellsing?" Integra asked again becoming slightly agitated.
"No Sir Integra." Seras answered sheepishly. She hadn't even formally begun to work for this woman and already she was making a bad impression. Or at least she thought she was.
"Very well. We are an ordained royal order. My family was recruited into the queen's service long ago. Every Hellsing master before me was knighted into this service by her majesty the queen herself. Our mission is to seek out and destroy unearthly beings that threaten the queen, her church and her subjects. Many times the creatures we face are nocturnal beings known as vampires. I trust you know what a vampire is Seras Victoria?"
"Creatures who pray upon humans for their blood." Seras answered.
"To put it mildly. My family has been fighting the undead since the days of my ancestor Abraham Van Helsing. And before you act upon the urge to blurt anything out, yes he is the same Van Helsing described in the book by Bram Stoker." Integra replied.
"No wonder that name sounded so familiar." Seras thought to herself.
"And just so you know, not everyone around here looks favorably upon that story. I believe you know the one I'm talking about." Integra said.
"Yes, I think so." Seras answered.
"He always hated that book." Integra muttered to himself.
"He?" Seras asked curiously.
Integra scowled realizing Seras had heard her low toned words. "Nothing for you to be concerned with...yet." She said sternly. "Walter will escort you to your room now. At sunset I will have him bring you back to me so that I may discuss your forthcoming duties in this organization and introduce you to your new partner." Integra said.
"Partner?" Seras asked.
"Must you repeat everything I say like a bloody parrot? Yes I said partner. Now go get your things settled." Integra snapped.
"Come with me Miss Victoria." Walter said politely and escorted Seras to her room.
"She's not very personable is she?" Seras asked.
"Unfortunately no, she isn't. It is something you will learn to overlook in time. She has a great deal of responsibility upon her shoulders, so try not to take her outbursts personally." Walter answered in a reassuring tone. Seras felt a little more at ease around the elderly retainer. He seemed to be a very nice fellow. Seras followed him through the mansion. She noticed below her a stairway that seemed to lead down into a dark tunnel.
"What's down there?" She asked.
"Those are the sublevels of the mansion. I would advise you refrain from going down there." Walter said with a serious tone. "That part of the mansion is very old and dark. The stairs are long and winding. I would not want you to hurt yourself. This way please." He finished.
Seras looked at him for a moment. He seemed rather secretive about the lower levels of the mansion. His explanation felt more like a warning than an answer. But she was sure he was only looking out for her welfare so she asked him no further about the subject. As she walked she suddenly felt the urge to wrap her arms around herself. Seras felt as if someone or something was watching her. She looked around but could see nothing. She continued following Walter.
After what seemed to be an eternity of walking, Walter and Seras finally came to her quarters. "Here we are. I've had your belongings set upon your bed. Please try to get settled as soon as possible. I will be back for you this evening so that Sir Integra can brief you upon your first assignment in Hellsing." Walter replied.
"Thank you Walter." Seras said kindly.
"You're most welcome. Good day Miss Victoria." Walter replied with a small bow and exited Seras's room.
Seras sat down on her bed looking at with wide, delighted eyes. "I've always wanted a canopy bed!" She exclaimed like a child having just received a pony for her thirteenth birthday. She looked around the room getting familiar with where everything was. She got off the bed and walked over to the huge wooden vanity. There were at least seven or so drawers for her to set her personal items in. She inspected herself for a moment in the large oval mirror attached to the vanity.
"Well, Sir Integra certainly does have good taste in furniture. This might not be so bad after all." The young agent said to herself as she went back to the bed to start unpacking her suitcases. She opened one leather bag and started carrying her clothes over to the vanity. She turned to get some more of her belongings. Seras was startled however to find that when she made her second trip to the vanity one of the drawers had mysteriously opened.
"What in the world? I could have sworn this was closed just a moment ago. Oh well, it is open. I'll just start putting my things in it." She said and began to place her blouses and shirts in the opened drawer. She turned to retrieve a few more belongings and found that now the drawer had closed.
"Something odd is going on here. Oh please tell me this place isn't haunted." She said rubbing her arms. "Oh what am I thinking. I probably just closed it without thinking. I've got to relax. I'm just a little unnerved about this Integra woman. She doesn't seem to act all that womanly. I wonder if she had an oper...oh get that bloody thought out of your head Seras!" The young agent scolded herself.
For a few moments things went without incident as Seras finished putting away her clothes and other belongings. She decided to change clothes for her first real meeting with Sir Integra. She took out a green, knee length skirt and matching knit sweater. While she began changing the mirror suddenly began to fog up. Within seconds it had gone from a clear reflective glass to an inky black shadow. A pair of blazing crimson eyes suddenly emerged from the darkness. Those eyes watched Seras undress down to her underwear and panty hose. They looked up and down her scantily clad feminine form.
Unaware that she was being watched, Seras put on the hunter green skirt and matching top. She turned around to freshen her make up when she saw the black fog and blazing red eyes for a tenth of a second. Her big blue eyes widened in fear and she suddenly slapped her hand over her mouth trying not to scream out loud and bring half the mansion into her bedroom. She turned her head away quickly and looked back at the mirror. It was again the normal clear, reflective surface that it was supposed to be.
Her heart was pounding a mile a minute as she plopped down on her bed. "What in God's name is going on here?" She asked herself outloud. "I could have sworn I saw a pair of eyes, red eyes starring at me from within the mirror." She said to herself.
Her eyes got wider at a sudden revelation. "Oh God! I was getting dressed when I saw those eyes! Whatever it was could have seen me half-naked! What if there is some kind of camera back there! What if this is all some sick joke!" She exclaimed. Her fear suddenly turned to anger as she got up and stomped toward the vanity. She looked in the back to see if she could find any devices hidden there in. She looked but found nothing. Seras clutched at her still fast beating heart and leaned against the wall.
"Nerves. It's just nerves. This is my first day here, and I was a little intimidated by Sir Integra. All right, actually I was very intimidated by Sir Integra. I've got to relax. I've already screwed up one first impression. I've got to make good come back. Tonight is my chance to do just that. Tonight I've got to be all business. Father wouldn't want me making a fool out of myself with a big chance like this. I want to make him proud. His memory deserves that much." Seras said to herself rubbing her forehead.
In the lower levels of the mansion darkness prevailed. Long and winding stairs led down to the lowest and blackest level of the Hellsing compound. Through the darkness a pair of blazing red eyes burned. The red light shed by those eyes gave a faint illumination in the thick blackness. Two white points faintly glittered in the crimson glow. A sinister chuckle silently reverberated through the dark halls.
"This must be the new toy my master has found for me to play with. She is a lovely little creature. This could prove to be a lot of fun...if she lasts that is."
Evening came. Integra sat at her desk going through the reports for what would be Seras Victoria's first assignment in Hellsing. She looked up out of the corner of her eye and saw a black void suddenly darkening the walls. A tall, raven haired man emerged from the void with a smirk on his face. He wore a charcoal grey Victorian suit with knee length brown leather boots. Over all this he wore an ankle length, red leather trench coat and matching wide brimmed fedora. His eyes were hidden by a pair of orange/red tinted John Lennon style sunglasses. He tipped those glasses down slightly leering at Integra.
"So I see you've found me a new playmate. She's a pretty one." He said in a deep yet sarcastic voice.
"And just how may I ask do you know about her? I haven't introduced you two yet." Integra scowled.
"I thought I'd have a look at her while she was getting aquatinted with her bedroom. I'm afraid I gave her a bit of a scare when she looked in the mirror and saw my eyes through the glass." He chuckled.
"Damnit. You haven't even met her yet and you're already trying to drive her crazy." Integra silently fumed.
"Actually I was enjoying watching her change clothes."
"You did what! Damn you Alucard!" Integra snapped.
"I'm already damned my master. Besides, it's not like I saw her completely naked. She only stripped down to her underclothes and then quickly got dressed again. Pity I could only see her from the back. She has a nice little ass." Alucard smirked.
"I am warning you. She is to be your new partner. I expect you to behave yourself, and act like you have some manners." Integra warned.
"Well if you're going to sit there and spoil all my fun why should I even bother? I don't understand why I need a partner anyway. I'm quite capable of doing my job on my own." Alucard protested.
"Because I say you need a partner. Unfortunately the last twenty or so have either ended up dead, cheerfully requesting reassignment or in straight jackets. I'm afraid the last man I had you paired with is still having to take shock therapy after what you did to him." Integra replied sternly.
"He should have known better than to piss me off." Alucard interjected plainly.
"You need a partner, and you're going to have one. Now I want no further objection on the matter. Now I want you on your best behavior when the young lady comes in here. Understood?" Integra asked sternly.
"Yes master." Alucard answered slyly crossing his fingers behind his back.
Seras waited in her room trying to make sense of the strange happenings that occurred earlier. "I knew I saw someone or something staring at me through the mirror. And how the hell did the drawer open by itself? I'm pretty sure I didn't open it, and I'm also pretty sure I didn't close the damn thing either. Something is going on around here. I'm beginning to wonder just what I've gotten myself into." She said to herself.
A knock at the door jolted her out of her train of thought. She nearly jumped out of her clothes. "Miss Victoria, it's Walter. Sir Integra is ready to see you now." Walter called on the other side of the door.
Seras breathed a sigh of relief and got off the bed. She opened the door where Walter was waiting for her. "Come with me Miss Victoria."
Walter led Seras back to Sir Integra's office. She was ushered in when she noticed that this time Integra was not alone. She saw the man known as Alucard standing next to his master Integra. Alucard had a mischievous smirk on his face. Seras could not see the even more mischievous glint in his eyes since the sunglasses hid them. "I'm going to have fun with this one. I certainly hope she lasts longer than the last one did." He thought to himself.
"Agent Seras Victoria, this is Alucard. He is going to be your new partner on this and hopefully other assignments as well. Alucard, this is MI-5 agent Seras Victoria." Integra said.
Alucard stood there silently for a moment inspecting his new partner from top to bottom. Seras stood nervously watching Alucard scrutinize every inch of her under his glasses. "Excuse me, but it's dark outside. Why is he wearing sunglasses when the sun isn't out now?" Seras asked.
"Good question." Alucard replied taking off his sunglasses. Seras's eyes widened when she realized just why he'd been wearing them. His eyes were red, blood red. Seras gasped when she realized they were the same blood red orbs that had been watching her through her mirror.
"Bloody Hell!" Seras exclaimed.
"What's the matter police girl? Was it something I said?" Alucard asked opening his mouth so that he intentionally flashed his fangs in front of her.
Seras stood there debating on whether she should run away screaming and have herself committed; or stand there and scream and then beg to be committed. Integra gave Alucard a very mean look signaling him to quickly shut his mouth before he ended up with those fangs in vicinity other than his mouth.
"Before you start going into a flight of hysterics I will explain. Hellsing is a vampire eradicating organization. But unlike some other groups, my forefathers adapted to an old idea. Fight fire with fire. Hellsing is an organization that uses a vampire to hunt down and destroy other vampires. Alucard has been bound to the Hellsing family for a long time. After my father died, I became Alucard's master." Integra explained.
"I've tried talking her into wearing leather and using a whip but she just doesn't seem open to the idea." Alucard chuckled.
Integra again shot Alucard a very dirty look. "If you don't shut that bear trap of a mouth of yours, I'm going to use something on you all right. It won't be a whip, but it WILL be made out of silver. And for modesty's sake I will not say where that silver implement will be going. Catch my meaning...servant?"
"Yes master." Alucard said trying not to laugh out loud. He loved it when Integra talked mean to him. She sounded almost like the mother superior of a convent scolding her unruly student. He'd once suggested she put on a nun's outfit, and slap his hands and a few other body parts with a ruler. She promptly answered by telling him where he could put that idea.
"What in God's name have I gotten myself into? My boss is a closet dominatrix, and this Alucard fellow just seems to be begging to get his ass kicked. Seras thought to herself.
"Now if I may conclude the introductions and get onto discussing this assignment..." Integra muttered loudly.
