The Kaizer sat, drumming his fingers listlessly on the arm of his chair, staring at the nothingness of his screens. No digidestined brats, no unconquered digimon, nothing to do. The Kaizer growled and flipped off all the screens, standing up and transporting himself out of the digital world.
Ken stood in the silence of his room, staring at his glowing computer screen. Then he turned it off and left the room, locking the door behind him and slipping the key into the pocket of his dove gray pants. He walked to the park at the edge of town and sat in a swing, rocking himself back and forth. A pair of children ran past, laughing and talking.
Ken watched the children go, somehow, almost by accident, finding himself lonely. He leaned his head against the cool chain of the swing and rocked himself somemore. Then a pair of familiar voices interupted the calm quiet of his mind.
\"So, what do you think, should we bother, or just leave it at that? I think it sounds fine that way.\"
\"Well, lets try it this way instead. Instead of saying \'in the absence of\', try \'because of the dissapearance of\' and then read it.\"
The voices became people as Yagami Taichi and Takaishi Takeru drew closer to the swings. Ken just let them approach. One of them caught sight of him and coughed. Then the older boy\'s voice assailed his ears.
\"Ichijouji.\"
\"Yagami.\"
Ken looked up with a faint smirk playing on his face. Then another group of children ran by, laughing, throwing a baseball around and Ken found his eyes following them. Again, that strange empty loneliness. He found that Takeru had been speaking while he had not been listening.
\"Nani. I was not paying attention, start over.\"
He missed the look that passed between the two boys as he closed his eyes and made himself focus on what was being said to him.
\"I said, why are you here, instead of doing something destructive. Its not like you to just sit still.\"
Ken glanced up and shrugged. He leaned his head against the chain and gave a very slight smile of despair.
\"There is nothing to destroy. So I\'m sitting, waiting. For what I do not know. But I wait.\"
The two boy\'s looked at each other and shrugged then started to move on before Tai seemed to remember something.
\"Oh. Ichijouji. Here. Someone told me to give this too you.\"
Ken caught the tiny box as Tai walked away after giving it a small toss. He looked at it and examined it. Nothing very special, a small box, like you would get a ring in from a jeweler. He opened it and found a peice of paper folded inside. He picked it out and opened it. It had a phone number scrawled on it, with the simple word CALL on the bottom.
Ken blinked at it like a moron for a moment then smiled tightly, folding it back and tucking it into the box. He put the box in his pocket and got up, walking the long distance back to his flat. He unlocked his room and went inside, relocking the door and then sitting on the floor, his back to the bed. He lifted the phone from the cradle, opened the box, unfolded the paper and dialed the number. The phone rang four times before someone answered.
\"Hello?\"
\"This is Ichijouji Ken. I was told to call here.\"
\"Oh, umm. Yeah. I didn\'t really think you would.\"
The voice paused. Then there was a scuffle, and the voice was muffled.
\"Get off you cow! I\'m on the phone! Mum!\"
There was a screech and then the voice was back.
\"Sorry, the stupid dork. Umm, yeah. I asked Tai to give you my number.\"
\"And who are you. There is no name, just the number and the word call.\"
\"Yeah, um, I can\'t... Tell you that. But, uh... I did want to say something but...I \'ve got a harridan hanging over my back, so, I can\'t tell you now.\"
There was another voice protesting.
\"Don\'t talk about me like I\'m not standing right here, you stupid brat, who called anyway, if thats for me I\'m gonna-\"
\"MUUUUUM! Get her off!!!!!\"
There was yelp and then the voice was back. Ken was idly twisting the cord around his finger.
\"Can you, meet me someplace? Please?\"
\"I suppose.\"
\"Okay... Umm... You know where the plaza is right? Of course, you know everything what am I talking about. I\'ll wait by the weird fountain thing at the back of the plaza, on the east side of it.\"
\"That will do I suppose. When will you be there.\"
\"Um... Lemme see... MUM! WHAT TIME IS IT!\"
There was some sort of a reply and a lurid curse before the voice was back.
\"I\'ll be there.... In thirty minutes.\"
\"Of course. Good bye.\"
\"See ya.\"
The line clicked and was dead. Ken hung up the phone and stood, streaching his hands over his head. In thirty minutes? Hmm. This day was getting more interesting than he\'d thought it would. He changed into a pair of old jeans and a soft blue button down shirt that he\'d always thought made his eyes brighter. He tied his tennis shoes and left the room, locking the door.
He made it to the plaza and searched out the one fountain it sported. It should have been an angel, but long ago it had weathered to a shapless peice of stone. He found the eastward side and sat on the edge of the fountain. It had been exactly thirty minutes. Three minutes later, one of the digidestined, Motomiya Daisuke came towards the fountain, looking all around, then at the watch on his wrist before spotting Ken sitting there.
They looked at each other for a whole minute before Daisuke moved towards him slowly, cautiously. The boy stopped a few feet away and scuffed his foot against the pavement. He had his hands in his coat pockets and was looking down at the ground.
\"Motomiya. What is going on.\"
The boy jumped at the sound of his voice, calm and barely even questioning. Ken felt a sick pride in the fact he could startle the boy mearly by speaking. The boy lifted his eyes and looked at Ken for a minute before looking back down.
\"Uhh... Well, I woulda told you on the phone, it\'d have been a lot easier, but, stupid Jun was hanging over me, buggin\' me, so... But uhm... Well, I wanted to tell you something an I really don\'t even think you\'d believe me, or even return it, but.... It\'s eatin\' me up and its drivin\' me nuts an I can\'t keep it to myself anymore, ya know? I must be the worlds biggest idiot...\"
\"I\'m not arguing with you on that point.\"
The boy glared at him.
\"Oh, stuff it Ichijouji. Just for that I\'ll not tell you, sorry I wasted your time.\"
The boy turned and that unbearable loneliness began to creep into him. Ken put out a hand, rising from his seat and catching the boy\'s arm tightly. The boy turned and tugged free. Ken gave a tiny, almost smile.
\"Gomen. Continue.\"
The boy sighed and rubbed his eyes with a hand. Then he muttered something and Ken pulled him over to the rail, away from the main body of the dinner crowd in the plaza.
\"Tell me whatever it is you wanted to tell me.\"
The boy looked over the rail at the water, dark chocolate eyes distant. He was smiling and Ken found that he looked very nice like that, the wind blowing his hair slightly. Ken shook his head and leaned against the rail.
\"Well.\"
The boy sighed and the dark eyes closed. The voice was soft, but it was clear.
\"I like you... Love you... Can\'t stop thinking about you...\"
Ken about wanted to toss the boy over the rail and into the water. Motomiya had to be out of his mind.
\"What are you taking, Motomiya. Because whatever it is, you need to quit.\"
\"I\'m not taking anything, damnit. I told you that it was drivin\' me nuts and that you wouldn\'t believe me or return the feelin\', but I couldn\'t keep it to myself anymore. And thats it. I love you and you keep messin\' with my mind, no matter if you\'re right in front of me or not there at all. You\'re always there, in front of me, laughing and smiling and waiting, arms open to hold me and then you\'re gone and I\'m alone and its like, where\'d you go, ya know? You\'re drivin\' me crazy and damnit, I had to tell you!\"
The boy brought a fist down on the railing, shaking. The dark eyes were open, staring at the water. Ken thought something shimmered on the boy\'s cheek then it was gone. Was Daisuke, crying? Over Ken? No way.
\"Me?\"
Ken found himself uttering the stupidest comment ever. Well of course it was HIM! Baka! He shook his head and turned away from the railing.
\"You were right, Motomiya... I do not return the feelings, I do not believe you and that is all there is to this conversation. Good bye.\"
Ken walked away, a sick emptiness invading his soul. He was walking away from someone who had just told him that he loved him, was always thinking of him. And he was letting it go. What a fool. Motomiya and himself both. A pair of fools. Motomiya for saying such things, and himself for wanting to hold the boy, and kiss him and tell him that he was in love with the boy as well.
---
Daisuke stood at the railing of the plaza edge, watching the slender figure of Ichijouji Ken retreat, standing tall and straight, unemotional, uncaring. Daisuke covered his face with a hand and turned away, looking at the clear blue of the water through his fingers. He\'d told the boy he loved him and Ken threw it away... What the hell... God, what was wrong with Daisuke...
Finally he turned, keeping his face down and walking slowly back home under the dusky sky. The light was fading to violet when he walked into the flat. He turned, looking at the sky. It was the same bright shade Ken\'s eyes had been. Oh god... Ken... Daisuke turned and rushed into the flat, slamming the door and racing into the dark confines of his bedroom. He shut his door and locked it, leaning against it, tears falling from his eyes the same way rain falls from the clouds.
Ken didn\'t want him... Daisuke crawled into his bed and pulled the blankets over his head. He lay his head on the pillow and closed his eyes. He sniffled and covered his face with his hands. Ken didn\'t want him, didn\'t love him, didn\'t feel anything at all. Daisuke fell asleep.
Daisuke moaned, eyes opening to violet eyes dark with passion above him. He reached up and held Ken close to him, panting softly against the boy\'s shoulder as the boy moved within him, sweetly. The other boy\'s voice, that perfect tone, that beautiful voice was in his ear.
\"Daisuke... I love you so much... You are so perfect... Oh, love...\"
Daisuke moaned and whimpered as Ken loved him. He held the boy and found the boy\'s mouth, kissing him and murmuring against his lips.
\"Ken... Love you... Can\'t live without you... Ken... Ken... Ken...\"
Daisuke woke with a soft cry, coming onto the sheets and his stomach. He lay there for a moment, panting, staring at the blank ceiling until he could breathe again, then he got up and pulled the sheets off the bed, wrapping them up and putting new ones on before going back to bed. Tomorrow was Saturday. He didn\'t need to get up and face the Ken-less reality. His dreams of Ken making love to him were better than the reality that Ken hated him, didn\'t want him or love him. Daisuke rolled over and went back to sleep, to the place where Ken waited with open arms.
---
Ken woke up covered in sweat. Images of dark eyes and a sweet taste on his mouth still haunted him, reminders of his dreams of the dark haired digidestined boy. He shook his head and sat up, eyes drawn to the little box on the table by his bed.
He reached out and opened it. He opened the paper with Daisuke\'s handwritting on it and read the number, and the single word, CALL, scrawled on it. Then he folded the paper over, put it back in the box and closed it, setting it back on the table. He lay back and sighed. He shouldn\'t have rejected the boy so quickly. He closed his eyes and went back to sleep. He would find the boy tomorrow, make this right.
Ken woke up to sunlight streaming into his room. He got dressed and turned on the computer, opening the port to the digital world. He slipped through and found himself standing in the control room. He flipped on the screens and sat down. Thinking quickly, he started setting up more spires, covering more areas. Soon, a blip on a screen alerted him to the presence of the digidestined children. The Kaiser smiled darkly and waited until the perfect moment then sent commands to an Airdramon to go retrieve his toy.
He watched as Daisuke was scooped up and then he turned off the screens, walking into a room. Manipulating the data of the room, he created a beautiful bedroom, perfect in every detail. He shed the glasses and the long cape, the gloves as well. He put them away and again manipulated the data so that he looked like Ken again. The Kaizer smiled and sat in a chair. Soon Daisuke was led in by a troop of Gazimon.
The Kaizer dismissed the creatures and smiled from his seat. The door was closed and he made sure to lock it.
\"Welcome, Motomiya. Are you feeling well? I hope that my servants haven\'t injured you.\"
The boy stood stiffly, though the Kaizer easily read the longing behind those defiant eyes, the willingness of the boy\'s tense body. The Kaizer rose and, in his Ken guise, took the boy\'s hand. He pulled the boy forwards, backing towards the bed.
\"Come, you must rest. The trip here with my slaves must have been especially bothersome. I appologise. I simply asked them to bring you here for a nice chat.\"
The boy snorted, but was led to the bed easily enough.
\"Yeah right. Ichijouji Ken, the great Digital Kaizer, requesting me for \'a nice chat\'. Phft. I believe you as far as I could throw you.\"
\"Would you like to see how far that is?\"
The Kaizer smiled, stepping closer to the boy. The boy backed away but the grip on his wrist prevented excape. The Kaizer smiled and pulled the boy closer to the bed, spinning them around then pushing the boy back so that he fell onto the deep mattress.
\"There. Relax. We had nice little talk yesterday, and I\'d like to retract a few comments.\"
\"Oh?\"
The boy had pulled himself up into a sitting position and the Kaizer sat on the bed, pulling a leg up and leaning forwards onto a hand.
\"Yes. I was very, abrupt, yesterday, what with the shock of such intense confessions. And I\'d like to take back a few things. For one, I do believe you. and I also would like to say that I do feel for you. There. I\'ve said it.\"
The boy was staring at him, dark eyes wide. The Kaizer held his breath, waiting. Then the boy smiled, eyes sparkling. Oh great god, he was crying again. The Kaizer reached out and brushed away the tears. The boy grasped his hand and carefully came closer to him. The Kaizer smiled, hiding behind the guise of Ken, pulling the boy against him. He took the parted lips and kissed the boy, one hand clasped in Daisuke\'s, the other around the boy\'s shoulders, holding him close, fingers stroking the boy\'s shoulder.
The Kaizer finally released the boy\'s lips and the let the boy lean into him. Then he smiled as his hair flew upwards, letting the guise fall away. He gripped the boy\'s hair and pulled his head up, grinning down at the boy.
\"Of course, this is all a lie, you realize. Stupid boy, did you really think I could love you? Hah!\"
The Kaizer kissed Daisuke hard, leaving the boy gasping as he pushed him back against the bed. The Kaizer held the boy\'s shoulders tightly, fingers digging in to the boy\'s flesh. The Kaizer laughed at the shock and pain in the boy\'s dark eyes.
\"You did, you thought I loved you! You easily manipulated little sap! A few sweet words from me and you\'re nothing but clay in my hands! You emotional little bastard!\"
The Kaizer drew great joy from watching the pain in Daisuke\'s eyes splinter and each word of his voice cutting into the boy like a knife. He laughed again, one hand leaving his shoulder and ripping at Daisuke\'s clothes, tearing the material away and throwing it from the bed. The boy was still for a moment then exploded in to a reaction, trying to throw the Kaizer away.
\"NO! NO, DON\'T! Please, Ken, don\'t do this to me... YOU CAN\'T DO THIS! Ken... Please no...\"
The boy alternatly shouted and whispered. The Kaizer wouldn\'t be stopped. He parted the boy\'s legs and laughed at the hurt and shock written in those eyes before shoving himself deep into the other boy. Along the way he\'d rid himself of the Kaizer uniform. He didn\'t pause, didn\'t wait, only began to move. Daisuke cried under him, out of pain and shock.
\"No...No Ken... I love you, no.... Please Ken....\"
---
Daisuke couldn\'t believe this. Ken had said he loved him, then turned on him... Where did the Kaizer end, and Ken begin... He couldn\'t tell. He saw the face of Ken, but the Kaizer\'s emotions. The Kaizer\'s face but Ken\'s emotions. There had been real passion in their first kiss. So tender, sweet and soft, like the one\'s they had in his dreams... But then Ken was the Kaizer, and abusing him, taking him. He didn\'t want this, not like this... Ken, he wanted Ken, to love him....
\" Please stop... Please Ken, don\'t do this.... Ken I love you so much, why are you hurting me...\"
Daisuke cried softly, feeling the Kaizer release into him. He whined as the boy pulled out of him and stood, a towel appearing. The boy cleaned himself up and then walked to the door. The boy looked back and suddenly Ken faced him. In those eyes, pain, horrible pain, anger and sorrow. Then the Kaizer laughed at him and walked out. Daisuke lay there, crying. Ken had loved him, the Kaizer had used him. God... What was wrong with him.
---
Ken stood for a moment, then collapsed to the floor, covering his face with his hands, eyes wild. God, what had he done... He\'d... Raped the boy.... He hadn\'t ment to do that... Had he? No, never, that was the worst thing a human could possibly do. Was he even human anymore? Yes, he had to be, there was nothing else after human... God, he\'d done so much wrong.
He finally stood up and got the box. He removed Daisuke\'s number and put it in his pocket. He found paper and a pencil and wrote a note, put it in the box, then found Tai\'s number. He dialed it then spoke quietly.
\"I\'ve got something I want you to give to Daisuke... Don\'t say that it\'s from me. But give it to him, then walk away. You have an hour.\"
Ken hung up the phone, went to Tai\'s home, gave him the box then walked to the plaza. He was waiting at the rail when Daisuke\'s voice hailed.
---
Daisuke was curled on the floor, shaking when there was knock on the door of his room. He called softly and Tai\'s head poked in and the boy threw him somthing. Daisuke caught it but Tai was gone before he could say anything. He opened the box and took out a folded sheet of paper.
~Daisuke,
I\'m very sorry, that was not ment to happen. I\'m not sure, but, the Kaizer is hard to seperate from myself, and I\'m worried now, that I may do that again. I do not want this. By the time you get this, I know a half of an hour will have passed. Tai is rarely on time. If only he knew the nature of this. I am by the rail of the plaza where we stood the other day. In an hour from the time I hand this to Taichi, I will throw myself off the rail of the plaza, to drown in the clear waters of the sea. Unless, of course, you come and talk me out of it. I am truly sorry, I had no intention of hurting you.
Ichijouji Ken~
Daisuke gasped and tucked the letter in his pocket, bursting from the room. He rushed to the plaza and hurridly looked around. Finally, he caught sight of dark indigo locks blowing in the soft wind from the sea. Daisuke rushed towards the boy, calling out to him.
\"Ken! Ichijouji Ken! Ken, over here Ken!\"
The boy\'s head lifted, but he didn\'t turn. Daisuke stopped by the boy and panted for a moment before he spoke again.
\"Ken, please don\'t do this...\"
\"Why not. I\'ll only hurt you more, again, if I stay. I cannot seperate Kaizer and Ken. I do not understand the line between us.\"
\"I don\'t CARE! I don\'t love the Kaizer, I love you, Ken. Ichijouji Ken, the boy I played soccer against, the boy in all the papers, the boy I sent my number too, praying he would call me, talk to me.\"
The other boy didn\'t move then his fingers flexed on the rail.
\"How can you, knowing I\'m the same as the other...\"
\"You AREN\'T. Ken is differant. The Kaizer is evil, destroying everything that means anything to anyone. Ken is sweet, loving and beautiful, deserving of everything good life has to offer him. Even if it means I jump over this railing when this hour is up. I won\'t let you die. Not alone.\"
The boy turned his head, dark eyes staring up at Daisuke. Daisuke smiled and tucked a piece of indigo hair back out of Ken\'s face. The boy looked at him for a moment before coming away from the rail and wrapping shaking arms around Daisuke. For a moment Daisuke thought of Kaizer and tensed, but the Kaizer hadn\'t been shaking like Ken was shaking. Daisuke held Ken close to him, feeling smooth muscle under the clothes and skin. He whispered softly into the air.
\"I love you.... Ken...\"
The boy sighed and there was silence...
\"I love you, Daisuke... Truly... I did not lie...\"
Daisuke smiled and pushed Ken back, cupping the pale face in dark hands. He gently kissed Ken and then drew back smiling.
\"I know, you didn\'t.\"
The other boy just stared at him, then seized him, kissing him, sweetly demanding. Daisuke whimpered and kissed the boy back, eyes closing, loosing himself to Ken.
---
Daisuke whimpered under Ken\'s gentle movements. Dreams were nothing compared to the real thing. Ken was so gentle, sliding in and out, a hand wrapped around Daisuke\'s own erection. Daisuke whined softly, pulling Ken\'s face down, kissing him. Ken just kissed him back, breaking away and gasping softly.
\"Daisuke... I... I...\"
Daisuke covered the boy\'s mouth with his own, the pulled back and whispered against a flushed cheek.
\"I love you, Ken...\"
\"I love you...\"
Ken\'s whisper was soft, then he cried out, pouring himself into Daisuke. Daisuke screamed in sheer pleasure, coming over Ken\'s hand and both their stomachs. They slowly untangled and lay back, panting and struggling to regain their senses. There was a gentle quiet in the room. Then Ken shifted and reached out, lifting the towel from the table and cleaning them both up. Daisuke pulled his lover back down into the bed and wrapped his arms around Ken\'s waist.
\"Ken... I love you.... You are wonderful...\"
\"I love you too, Daisuke... You make me wonderful....\"
Daisuke smiled and kissed Ken slowly, their mouthes meeting, tounges touching, tasting. Finally Daisuke gently tugged on Ken\'s bottom lip with gentle teeth before laying his head on the other boy\'s chest. He felt Ken draw the blankets over them both. He smiled and had a restful sleep for the first time in months.
---
Ken stayed awake a few moments longer, looking at the dark skinned boy in his arms. The sleeping boy wore a smile of pure satisfaction and love. Ken kissed the soft clay coloured hair, letting his eyes slide shut. This ended up being a more interesting week than he\'d thought it would be.
