Chapter 1

"As you can see, there is no possible ways for you to refute my argument," Eclipse stated plainly, "my logic is simply undeniable."

Eclipse was fast becoming bored with his debate team. None of them posed even the slightest threat to his mental prowess. Even so, they had a match coming up and he needed them all to be in top shape. After all, he couldn't take on the entire opposing team by himslef. Well...he could but it would be highly unethical. Instead he pushed the team to their limits.

He had just finished demolishing Chris' argument and was thinking about who he would test next. Chris' argument had been firm, but it was rooted in more opinion than fact and that had caused his defeat. The bell tower tolled 5pm and Eclipse decided to let his team off the hook, for the time being.

"Alright everyone," Eclipse said tiredly, "let's call it a day. Good job Chris."

Eclipse was not one to shower praise upon his team; however, he knew that a happy team performed better. As the team gathered their things, said their goodbyes, and exited the small room, a person entering the room caught Eclipse's attention. He gasped in shock at the beauty of the boy who was lingering in the doorway.

The young man was dressed to entice in tight fitting jeans and a white teeshirt that hugged his form and showed off his well toned chest. His shockingly blond hair was pulled back in a short ponytail and his bright blue eyes were accented with black eyeliner. Eclipse found that he could only stare as the beauty made his way over to Chris. As he watched the two enbrace each other, he found himself moving towards them.

Chris noticed his team leader coming towards them and mentally cringed. He knew his argument had been week, but did Eclipse have to keep reminding him. It was bad enough that he had been called out at practice, did Eclipse really have to make him look stupid in front of his friend?

" Chris, I just wanted to congradulate you on your effort. Not many new commers can defend their arguments for as long as you did. May I suggest that next time you pick a topic that you have no opinion of. You can use the facts to form your opinion and you will have a better claim in the long run."

"Thanks I'll remember that," Chris realized that he hadn't introduced his friend to Eclipse, "Oh, Eclipse this is my best friend Raenef."

Raenef extended his hand expecting Eclipse to shake it. Eclipse's eyes widened at the name before he dropped to his knee's before the boy. He took Raenef's hand and gently kissed the back of it.

Eclipse remained on his knees for a moment longer before standing. He kept his head bowed as he uttered a simple phrase with immense meaning.

"Lord Raenef."

Chris, whose jaw had dropped to the floor some time ago, pulled himself together and turned to Raenef.

Raenef was looking at Eclipse with an expression of sadness. He had hoped that by going to school in a different kingdom, he would be able to have a normal life. He was wondering how Eclipse had recognized him when a voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Rae, what the hell is going on?!"

Chris was totally lost. He couldn't see Eclipse as the type to submit to anyone, even some of the professors were intimidated by him. Yet here he was, bowing to Raenef and calling him 'lord'. The whole ordeal was begining to give him a headache.

Eclipse mentally kicked himself. Of course his lord had not revealed himself to his classmates, it was dangerous for them to know what he was. Eclipse didn't know how to remedy the situation. Chris was probably not a threat, but he had to be sure. He lord might punish him later but he would endure the pain if it meant keeping his master safe.

Raenef was trying to think of a way to explain things to Chris. No one at school knew about his past or what he really was. It was safer for all of them if he was just another student. The little lord was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't notice Eclipse moving until he was directly behind Chris. Eclipse hit the boy on a pressure point in his neck and he fell to the floor, a whimper escaping his lips. Raenef spun around in time to see his friend hit the floor while Eclipse stood over him.

"Shall I kill him Master Raenef?"

Raenef glanced at Chris' unmoving body before turning his attention turned to Eclipse."

"Don't kill him. He is of no threat to me."

Raenef looked at Eclipse, taking in his long ebony hair, skin like ivory, and crimson eyes. Eclipse was wearing leather pants and a silk shirt that was red. This was not one of his normal guards who looked like everyone else in his father's kingdom: blond haired and blue eyed.

"What order are you with? You're certainly not a palace guard."

Eclipse chuckled at the insinuation, "No my lord, I am not. I am with the order of the BlackRose. I live to serve you, Master Raenef."

Raenef groaned. He did not want another devotee, willing to die at his word or in his name.

"Don't do that"

"Do what my lord?'

"Call me lord or put your life in my hands. I decided to go to school so far away from home to avoid those very things. I am tired of being my lord, my liege, my master, your magesty, and your highness. I only want to be Raenef. Just Raenef, no titles attached."

Eclipsed was stunned at the outburst from his master. He did not know how to respond. The young lord did not want him to use any of the appropriate titles, but not to use them was unacceptable.

Raenef sighed in defeat, he knew that Eclipse couldn't help himself. He had been moulded into the obediant servant that he was. He hadn't had any choice in the matter.

*sigh* " Very well. you may call me anything but master. I don't like that word. You are not my slave."

"As you wish my lord. Now what shall we do with Chris. He will not regain consiousness for some time."

Raenef felt bad but he needed to know more about Eclipse and the Order of the BlackRose. He told Eclipse to deposite the boy in his room and meet him in the park just off campus.

Eclipse finnished the job and found his master sitting on a park bench staring at the lake. He took a seat on the bench and waited for Raenef to speak.

"So what is this Order of the BlackRose? Why do you serve my family?"

"We do not serve your family, my lord. We serve only you."

"And why is that?"

"Because you are The One."
