I love you.

I love the way you
smile at me and I love the way your nose crinkles up when you�re annoyed about
something and I love the way you make everybody happy just by being around.

I wish I could tell
you what you mean to me � beyond this game that brought us together. Sometimes you offer your hand to me, when you
need someone to pull you up and I wish I could pull you into my arms and hold
you there forever.

I want to say all the
things that are in my mind, in my heart.
I want to tell you that, if I stopped playing tennis tomorrow, I�d still
need you. Every day. I want to hold your hand and feel your
heartbeat against mine and never, ever care if they understand it or not.

I need to tell
you. I need to know that you love me,
too. I need you, Eiji.

Your voice reaches me
from across the court. You are backlit �
like an angel � and I can only barely make out the silhouette of your body as
you wave to me. You�re laughing at
me. It makes me smile.

�Nya, Oishi, are you paying
attention to me?�

I nod, shielding my
eyes from the sun as I lift my racket in silent acknowledgement. I�m always paying attention, Eiji � I always
will.
