Chapter one: Memories from the past

“Takaya, Takaya... what’s with you? Are you ok?” Yuzuru pulled on Takaya’s jacket. “Hey man, snap out of it.” Yuzuru wasn’t sure what was going on, but he knew that Takaya hadn’t been the same since his last encounter with Naoe. Was Naoe the cause of all this?

“Huh? What’s going on? Yuzuru why do you have hold of me?”
Yuzuru looked at his confused friend and brushed his fingers through Takaya’s hair. “You were acting really strange again, Takaya. What’s up with you anyway?”

Takaya’s face changed from being confused to being upset. “What are you trying to say? I’m fine, Yuzuru. I’m just peachy.” He then walked away from his friend.

‘What the hell is he talking about? I’m perfectly fine. There isn’t anything wrong with me...’ he was lost in his own thoughts. Takaya hadn’t been acting the same since Naoe left to go in search of the Kaze Clan. Whenever Naoe left a piece of Takaya was no longer there. He had always been with Naoe since he first found out about his true self and now when Naoe wasn’t there he felt alone. ‘God, maybe I miss him or something. I never felt this way about anyone before though. Not family or friends. So why is it that Naoe is so different? Takaya couldn’t put his finger on it, however this was a normal routine for him. Whenever Naoe left he’d become mean and stubborn with everyone.

‘Surly there must be something I’m missing or better yet something I’m not wanting to remember.’ he thought to himself. Takaya hopped up on his motorcycle and drove off leaving everything in the dust. He was headed for his home until he came across a tan colored car stopped up ahead at the red light. The car didn’t look like much, but it did remind him of Naoe’s car. “NAOE!” he shouted.

The light turned green and the car took off. Takaya decided to follow the car until the next red light came up, then he’d be able to see if it really was Naoe. ‘Boy, I wonder if that is him, because if it is then I have a piece of my mind to give him.’

He drove faster and faster until he was side by side with the tan colored car. The light turned from yellow to red and traffic soon halted. Takaya sat there beside the tan car. He tried to not make it noticeable as he was tipping his bike over to the left so that he could get a better view of the driver. Before he could see who it was the light changed to green and the car was off again. “DAMNIT! That driver is a damn speed demon.”

He got his bike back to the right position and drove off after the tan car once again. ‘This time I’ll just get off the damn bike and knock on his window and if it isn’t you Naoe then I’ll make up some lie to tell the driver. He was neck and neck again with the tan car and sure enough they caught the last red light in town. Takaya pulled up beside the car once again and then got off his bike. He slowly walked up to the window and tapped on it. The window rolled down and to his surprise he was right. “Naoe... why didn’t you stop when I yelled out your name?”

“You mean that was you? I just thought it was one of my many daydreams of you yelling out my name, Kagetora. Also, it’s nice to see you to.” he said with a smile of his face.

“Don’t try to be so coy with me, Naoe. You make these jokes up about me all the time. When do you plan on taking me serious for once?” Naoe looked straight ahead and then grinned. “The light is going to change anytime now. So why don’t you get back on your bike and follow me to the lake.” He then rose his window back up and waited for the light to change.

“Naoe! Naoe! You bastard...” Takaya huffed and went back to his bike, but before he could get on the light changed green and the car behind him pull forward. There was no time to move out of the way and Takaya soon found himself on the ground with the bike toppled over on him. “Goddamn it!” was all he could get out before the driver of the car came out. “Sir, I’m very sorry about this. I wasn’t paying attention-”

Takaya cut him off right in the middle of his sentence. “No, did you think?” Lucky for him Naoe hadn’t pulled away when the light hit green. He quickly got out of the car and ran over to Takaya. “Are you all right?”

Naoe knew that he was all right but he thought he should ask anyway just to make sure.

“Yeah, I’m fine... however my bike has seen better days.” he said with a sigh.

“Well, I’ll drive you home if you’d like and we can see about your bike from there.” He then moved the bike off Takaya and reached out his hand. “I’ll even help you to your feet.”

Takaya reached up and grabbed his hand, but when he got a hold of it something hit him. It was like a flashback.

---------------------------------------------------

“Lord Kagetora, please give me your hand. If something should happen to you I... would never be able to live. Now please, give me your hand.”

“Naoe, leave me be. There is nothing more you can do for me now. I’ve seen what kind of a man you are. You have lost my trust, Naoe. You have taken something from me that cannot be replaced.”

“Kagetora... is this how you really feel about me? Am I that low and unworthy to live anymore?”

---------------------------------------------------

Takaya soon found himself up against Naoe’s chest. His hair was being played with in the back while Naoe held him close.

“Naoe... what are you doing? Stop it.” Takaya pushed himself away from Naoe and looked at him.

“Kagetora, are you all right?” Naoe asked with a concern look to his face.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Can we please go now?” Naoe nodded and then walked back to his car. He opened the door then sat down, turned the car back on, and waited for Takaya to get in. Takaya walked over to the car, opened up the door, and sat down. “Seat belt.” was all Naoe said.

“Yeah, I know...”

The drive home was rather quiet at first. Each of the two men looked out the window on their side. The silence was too much to bare for Naoe. He couldn’t stand having the sound of death around him.

“Takaya why don’t I take you home and after everything is done I’ll take you out for dinner. How about that?” His hands nervously gripped the steering wheel tight until they were a shade of purple. ‘I don’t know why I should be scared of his answer, after all... it’s been awhile since we’ve done anything. I’m sure that he has forgotten all of it.’ A sad look came to Naoe’s face after he began to think.

“Naoe... that sounds like a good idea. I’m hungry because I didn’t eat any school lunch today. Don’t ask me why but it smelled like shit.” Takaya began to laugh after he was done speaking of the school’s lunch. Naoe smiled at the thought of eating lunch with Lord Kagetora and he was also smiling because that was the first time Takaya had ever laughed like that around him.

The two men had finally gotten to Takaya’s house. “I’ll be right in Takaya, go on ahead.”

“All right I’ll leave the door unlocked, okay?” He opened the door of the car, got out, and ran to his front door. “Where are those damn keys!?” Takaya searched though his left back pocket and then is right. “Ah Ha! I found you little buggers.” He opened up the door and ran to his bedroom. ‘Now to find the car shop’s number.’ Takaya thumbed through the pages as fast as he could. After about 5 minutes he found the number. “I wonder-”

“Lord Kagetora!” Naoe came running up to the door.

“Huh? What the hell is with you?” He then got up off the bed and set the book down. “Speak, Naoe...”

“You have some woman wanting to come inside to see you.” He then fixed his tie and grinned.

“Naoe, that’s just Saori. Tell her to go away because I’m not in the mood to deal with her problems.” Takaya then sat back down on the bed and picked up the phone.

Naoe left the room and went back to the front door. “Takaya is in no mood for your problems today. Leave him be, Ms. Saori.” He then slammed the door on her. Naoe then turned around and look at the house. ‘Hm, the boy has a nice place here. I wonder if he lives with his mother and father...’ He looked at the living room, kitchen, and then walked back down to Takaya's room. He knew where that was because he had been there once. “Lord Kagetora, the woman is gone. She wasn’t happy that I made her leave though.”

“That’s fine. She isn’t any worry to me any ways. Besides that I’m pissed off.”

“Why is that?”

“Because I can’t get a hold of the damn car place. They are either busy or closed.” he then put his hand over his head. “All the bad luck in the world must be following me today. Nothing has gone as expected.” he sighed.

“Well, look on the bright side. You found me in the middle of traffic. So that’s not so bad, now is it?” Naoe said with a straight face.

Takaya looked up at him and laughed. “Yeah, I suppose your right, Naoe. After all I’ve been wanting to-” He quickly shut himself up and got up off the bed to look out the window.

“Lord Kagetora... you’ve been wanting to what?” Naoe walked over to Takaya and placed his hand upon his shoulder. “What are you trying to hide?”

Takaya twitched at Naoe’s touch. It was like he’d been placed inside a freezer of some sort. “Naoe, just drop it. I wasn’t going to say anything that important anyway. I’m just hungry and tired right now...”

Naoe nodded his head and placed his other hand on Takaya’s other shoulder. “Kagetora, quiet trying to hide yourself from me. I know that something is on your mind. Can’t you just trust me again and let me know what’s wrong with you.”

Was this another flashback or was it real this time? ‘What the hell is wrong with me. Why is everything coming back to me like this.’

-----------------------------------------------
“Lord Kagetora, why won’t you just trust me again. Can’t you see that I did all of this for you. Is there no way I can make you happy?”

“Naoe, leave me be. I told you before that there is nothing you can do for me. JUST LEAVE!”

“Kagetora... I mean nothing to you anymore? This isn’t the way I wanted things to end. Please... just give me one more chance.”
-----------------------------------------------

“Naoe...” Takaya put his head up against the wall and started to cry. “Naoe... something is wrong with me. I keep having these awful flashbacks of you and I. I don’t know what they mean or anything. It’s a nightmare from hell.”

“Takaya... I know that these memories are hard to deal with, but remember that you can tell me about them anytime you want. I’m here for you...” Naoe then took his tongue and licked from Takaya’s shoulder to his earlobe. “I’ll protect you from everything...”

‘What the hell is this?’ Takaya didn’t know what to think. Why was Naoe licking him? This isn’t what he wanted to happen. “Naoe... please stop it. I don’t want you to lick me.” Takaya turned his body around but found out that he couldn’t go any farther.

“Lord Kagetora... there is something you need to be reminded of. I told you this before I left and I can see that you have forgot.” He grabbed Takaya’s hands and held them up above his head while pushing him against the wall. “I told you that I love you and that I’ll be the one to protect you from everything. When I’m here you don’t need to worry about anything.” He then leaned forward and pressed his lips up against Takaya’s lips.

Takaya pulled his head back from the kiss and glared at Naoe. “So, this is what this is all about. The only reason you came in here was to tell me something you told me before you left. Why you dirty bastard. What made you think that I forgot what you said to me? It just so happens that I’ve been thinking about that since you left me at the river’s edge. Naoe, when you speak of the words loving me I get this sharp pain inside my chest. I cannot run from it nor can I hide from it. The thought of you loving me makes me weak in my knees. It makes me feel something inside from the past. Ever since you spoke those words to me I’ve been gaining back my memories. Why... why do you say these words to me? Do you want me to remember something from so long ago? Answer me, Naoe Nobutsuna!”

Naoe backed away from Takaya and lowered his head. He knew what Takaya’s returning thoughts were about now. It was all so clear to him that Kagetora was starting to come back. “Takaya... is it so wrong to speak the words of love to someone? You think I want this to happen to me? I ask myself everyday why me and you know what. I never find the answers to my question. I’ve tried to run away from it all, but it’s because of you that I always come back. You’re words make me think that maybe we do have something going on together. Or even the looks you give me make me have hope. You play with my mind because maybe you get off on it. I hate you with all my heart and yet, I love you with all of my heart. There is nothing you can say or do to me to make me think otherwise. Lord Kagetora, why can’t you just be honest with youself for once. Why do you always run away from me. I cannot handle this for much longer. I need you in my life... I need you to be there so that I can live. I love you, Takaya and when you say that you don’t love me in return or if you don’t even show the same feelings back to me, then that is what hurts me.” Tears slowly rolled off Naoe’s cheeks. He tried to hide them the best he could, but not even he couldn’t stop them from coming. Kagetora was the only one he’d ever love or think about loving and that love would stay buring even if he never saw the same affection from Kagetora.

“Naoe... I hate seeing you like this-”

“Then why do you bring me to this, Kagetora? Why do you make me feel like shit everytime I do or say something to you?”

Takaya walked over to the man and placed his arms around his waist. “Naoe... when you left me there that day I felt my heart flop into the bottom of my stomach. It was like my happiness was taken away. I didn’t want you to leave me there. I was hoping that you’d ask me to come along, but when I saw the tail lights drive off into the sun light, I knew that you weren’t coming back for me. That’s when I became mean with everyone. I couldn’t handle the fact that you were gone. "Naoe... please, don’t leave me behind again. I know that I’m sometimes impossible to deal with or even annoying at times. But I still... want to be with you...” Takaya allowed his head to rest on Naoe’s chest.

Naoe placed one of his hands on Takaya’s back and the other one began to run through his short black hair. ‘Lord Kagetora... have you really opened up to me again after all of these years?’
