Dreams and Rabbits
She stood in front of the full length mirror in her bedroom dressed only in her panties and a pair of white socks. She held her bra loosely in her right hand which hung at her side as she took in the reflected image before her. She watched as her own cerulean eyes stared back at her, reviewing her short, sapphire hair and her petite features. She had a nice skin tone, and it was smooth and soft as well. Physically she was rather attractive, though this thought only poked the back of her mind. She was much to humble to activly admit that she was pretty.
She shook her head slightly, clearing her head and bringing herself back to reality. If she kept staring at herself like that she would be late for school. She wrapped her bra around her, fastening the clasps in the back and turning it around so that the cups were in front. She took her dark blue skirt from where it hung neatly on the back of a chair and slipped it on, zipping the side and fastening the button. She grabbed her blouse next, the off white sailor top of her school uniform being shortsleeved for the spring, and pulled it over her head. She ran a quick brush through her blue locks and left her bedroom to go get breakfast.
In the kitchen she pulled a box of Pop-tarts out of a cabinet and dropped two of them into the toaster. While they were heating, she took a glass out of another cupboard and poured herself a glass of juice and set it on the table. By this time the toaster pastries had popped up out of the toaster and she grabbed them and put them on a plate. She sat down at the table and picked up her book, opening the pages to find her bookmark. She munched quietly on a Pop-tart as she read.
She had just bitten into her second pastry when the alarm on her watch went off. She blinked and dropped the Pop-tart, starting at the wristwatch in disbelief. She was late for school. Panicking she downed the last few drinks of her juice, grabbed her school bag, and ran out of the kitchen. She slipped on her brown penny loafers at the door and was out of the house in a flash, running as fast as she could towards her school.
"I can't believe this!" she said to herself, "Me, late? I don't think I've been late to school a day in my life!" She rounded a corner and almost slipped, but managed to keep her balance and tried very hard to quicken her pace.
She could see the school now, the clock that showed students what time it was looming in front of her as if to tease her about her tardiness. 'It isn't eight yet, maybe I can make it,' she thought to herself, 'Come on, Ami, move it!' She ran as hard as she could towards the building, her eyes never leaving the clock.
She wasn't fast enough, though, and the bell struck eight as she finally entered school grounds. She slowed to a brisk walk and entered the building, switched her shoes, and climbed the stairs the the floor where her classroom was. When she slid open the door to the classroom her teacher and the other students turned to look at her. The teacher stared at her for a long moment in disbelief before finally giving her the schools punishment for being late: standing in the hallway until the teacher called her back in.
Out in the hall she leaned against the wall, holding her school bag in her hands in front of her. She let out a long sigh and closed her eyes. "That dream rattled me more than I thought..." she said, "It was just so... so, so real."
"What dream?" asked a familiar voice.
She jumped. She hadn't realized that she was speaking aloud, nor did she realize that someone was there with her. She opened her eyes and looked at the speaker and smiled. Before her was a very familiar girl with long blonde hair that was tied up into little balls on her head and bright blue eyes. The smile was returned.
"Oh, hello, Usagi-chan!" she said.
"Good morning, Ami-chan," Usagi replied, "Why are you out here in the hallway?" She turned and stared at the door of her friend's classroom as if to make sure it was actually there.
The blue haired girl blushed. "I-I was late," she answered softly. Her eyes fell to the floor.
Usagi blinked. "Ami-chan late?" she asked surprised.
She nodded, "My mind was elsewhere this morning, I guess."
Her friend nodded and moved to lean against the wall beside her. She dropped her school bag lightly beside her and crossed her arms over her chest. Usagi closed her eyes and nodded solemly, then turned to look at Ami. "That dream?" she asked, her voice having an odd all-knowing tone.
Ami could feel her cheeks get hot as she blushed again. The dream she had had that morning flooded back into her mind. Visions of the beach and the waves. It had been so real she could almost smell the salt in the air and feel the gentle breeze that the breaking water was envoking. And... the other person. Tanned from being in the sun all day, blonde hair shinning in the moonlight, arms wrapped around the shy girl.
"... dream about a guy, didn't you?" Usagi was asking excitedly.
Ami blinked back to reality for the second time that day. She shook her head, her face still flushed. "Um... No," she said truthfully. She looked at the floor as if there was something rather intruiging about how the builders had laid the tiles.
"About a girl, then?" Usagi asked matter of factly.
Ami's cerulean eyes went wide and she turned to stare out the window. She wished that the teacher would deem her punishment over and call her back into class so as to save her from this, but he didn't. She forced herself to give a little laugh and smile at her pigtailed friend. "What would make you think that, Usagi-chan?"
This time Usagi's eyes went wide. She started to squeal, but clapped a hand over her mouth so as not to attract attention from any of the classrooms. After a moment she removed her hand and a smiled crossed her lips. "It was a girl, wasn't it?" she breathed, her blue eyes sparkling.
When the sapphire haired girl didn't reply, Usagi stepped closer to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "There's nothing wrong with it if you had a dream about a girl, Ami-chan," she said soothingly, "I mean, Haruka-san and Michiru-san are both girls. No one has a problem with them, you know."
The other girl shook her head. "It isn't that, Usagi-chan," she said. She stared up at the sky, her eyes following a wispy cloud that was ever changing as the winds high in the atmosphere blew it along. She could feel the warmth of Usagi's hand on her shoulder.
"Then what is it?" her friend asked.
Ami turned to look at her friend, her blue eyes filled with uncertainty and sadness. If she told Usagi who the dream was about it could ruin their friendship. On the other hand, she couldn't live her life keeping this to herself. And she had been wanting to tell Usagi for a while now. She couldn't, though. It would be better to keep her as a friend than lose her as one, right?
Before she had a chance to respond Usagi's teacher poked her head out of a door a little ways down the hall. "Usagi, come back to class now," she instructed and then dissapeared back into the classroom.
The blonde haired girl picked up her school bag and looked at her friend. "I have to go to class now, Ami-chan. See you later," she said. She turned and began trotting towards the door her teacher's head had appeared from a few moments earlier. She turned around and waved at Ami before dissappearing into the classroom as well.
She was alone in the hallway once more. She turned her attention back towards the cloud that was wisping along in the heavens, finding that it now looked like a small spiderweb against the deep blue of the sky. As she watched she felt her mind wander back to the dream from that morning.
She and Usagi had been on a deserted beach. The moon was full and hanging low in the sky, having risen only a little while earlier. They had lit a small fire and it crackled near them, giving them light and warmth. A breeze had begun to play across the shore, tickling their senses and bringing them the scent of the ocean. She had been reading a book and Usagi had been asleep.
She finished her book, though, and set it down beside her on the towel. Usagi woke up then, and the two of them sat for a moment, just looking at each other. Then Usagi moved towards her, slowly, her face and her eyes smiling. She pushed Ami back onto the blanket and looked down at her, her pigtails falling down beside her face.
They had kissed then, loving and passionately. Usagi was so gentle as she let her tounge move over her lips, making her part them. This had been very real, too, and as she thought about it she wished it could really happen. She sighed softly, remembering what happened next.
Usagi moved her hand down and carressed Ami's breast through the fabric of her bikini top. The blue haired girl could feel a warmth spread through her, eminating from the point of contact. She arched up a bit against the blonde's hand. In response Usagi unfastened the clasp of the top and brushed away the cloth. She let her fingers dance across the other girl's nipple and smiled as Ami broke the kiss to gasp.
Usagi made a trail of kisses down her face and neck and finally came to her breast. She took Ami's hardened nipple into her mouth and sucked it gently, her left hand going to the shy girl's other breast. All Ami was able to do was lay there, letting all those new sensations wash over her. Her breathing quickened as she felt the blonde's free hand trail down her belly and maneuver into the bottom half of her bikini. She arched up again as she felt Usagi's fingers brush against her sensitive genitalia, a small moan escaping her lips.
It was then that her alarm had woken her from her slumber. When she woke up she had been sweating and confused. A part of her had been dissapointed that the dream couldn't continue, but another part was appalled at herself for having had such a dream about such a close friend. It was true, she loved Usagi, but she still didn't think that she should have had such a dream.
"Miss Mizuno, did you hear me? I told you you can come back to class now," came a voice behind her.
She started and whirled around to see her teacher staring at her. She blushed and picked up her school bag, which had slipped from her grasp sometime during her mental recap, and hurried past him into the classroom. She took her seat and immidiately pulled out her book and a pencil and several other things she needed for class. She unfolded her glasses and put them on and tried to put the dream out of her mind.
"Now," began the teacher, "Who can tell me who the first emperor of Japan was?"
