  is Kikue, and Kakei is Saisha. I just thought they were pretty names, I don’t
  know if they mean anything. I also gave Saiga a power, though that’ll be

  Kakei smiled as well as he could
  and leaned his head into the warm hand beside him.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “Saisha… koi…” Saiga’s voice was
  hoarse, but he didn’t dwell on it. His hand was warm and comforting…

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “It’s all right…” he said
  quietly, and raised one bloody hand to weakly press against his lover’s hand. “Everything
  will be okay…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Saiga’s hand stroked his cheek
  gently, his fingers combing through his hair. There was a rough edge to his caresses,
  though, an almost hysterical desperation. His other hand grasped his free one
  tightly, as though attempting to anchor him here. He didn’t tell him what he
  knew so clearly, that it was futile…

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “Do you mean that?” Saiga asked,
  that terrible hope rearing its head in his voice.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  He nodded wearily, his eyes
  slipping closed. “You’ll have a long, happy life, an you’ll marry a sweet man
  within three years…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Saiga’s hand clenched
  convulsively on his, slipping in the blood. “Koi…” he said in a choked voice. “Don’t
  say that. You’re going to be okay.”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  He smiled indulgently and opened
  his eyes again, turning his head carefully to kiss the firm palm beside him. “No,”
  he said calmly, looking at him. “Don’t do this to yourself. Accept it. Believe
  me when I tell you what’s going to happen…” He smiled a little. “I can see the

  “No! You’re wrong, Saisha… You’re
  wrong, this time…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  He smiled and shook his head
  slowly. “No, I’m not wrong. You’ll be okay, Kikue, if you let yourself…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “No…” His large lover’s voice was
  quiet. “No, not without you…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  He nodded painfully. “Yes,
  without me.” He disentangled and lifted his bloody hand gently to Saiga’s face.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “No…” he protested weakly.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Kakei ignored him and gently
  touched the dark sunglasses he wore. “Let me see your eyes…” he murmured.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Instantaneous refusal greeted the
  request. “I can’t,” he said firmly, raising his free hand to the glasses as
  though to hold them in place. “You know what happens when…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  He nodded, closing his eyes
  briefly against the pain. “Yes, I know… Please, show me.” He stroked Saiga’s
  cheek, but made no move to take matters into his own hands. “I know what I’m
  asking…”

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Though he couldn’t see his eyes,
  he imagined he could feel Saiga’s gaze boring through him as they sat there,
  only his labored breathing for background music, the request heavy between
  them. After a moment, Saiga gently pressed his palm to his lips in a gentle
  kiss and nodded. Slowly, his hand moved and pulled the sunglasses down,
  revealing his closed eyes.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  After a moment, slowly, they
  blinked open. Reflective orbs of the purest silver captured his own with promises
  of relief, of serenity, of final peace…

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  “Beautiful…” he breathed. His
  chest gently settled and didn’t move again.

  
  
  

   

  
  
  

  Saiga slid his sunglasses back on
  and moved Kakei’s glasses to close his eyes with one bloody hand, then took his
  hand and sat there in heavy silence.
