Stay in Bed

“Hikaru? Are you ok?” the younger of the Hitachiin twins asked, looking into the eyes of his brother; they were glazed and tired.
“Yeah.” Hikaru coughed, trying to get out of bed.
“No, you’re not.” Kaoru said, placing his hand on Hikaru’s forehead. “You have a fever.”
“Daijobu…” Hikaru couched again.
“You’re sick. Stay in bed.” His younger brother ordered.
“But…We have a test today.”
“You’ll have it later.”
“Ne, Kaoru?” Hikaru grinned. “Why don’t you pretend to be me? And take the test for me?”
“No. Firstly, I’m not taking the same test twice, and secondly, Haruhi will tell on us.”
“Oh…right…” Hikaru lay back down. “Well….At least come back and see me for lunch.”
“I will.” Kaoru kissed his brother on the forehead. “You’re always taking so good care of me. Now it’s my turn to do the same.”
Hikaru pulled the blanket tighter around himself. “You’d better go. Or else you’ll be late.”


“Time’s up! Please pass your tests forward!” the teacher announced from his place in front of the class.
After making sure that all tests were handed in, he said: “You are dismissed.”
Kaoru threw his jacket on, rushing out the door.
Haruhi ran after him; “Kaou! Why the rush? You’re not coming to the cafeteria with us?”
”No, I have to make sure Hikaru is ok.”
“I thought he just has the flu?”
“Yeah.” Kaoru nodded.
Haruhi looked at him with confusion. “Then why so worried?”
”The love between twins is something that only twins understand.” The redhead replied. Then he grinned, “Tell the Lord I’m sorry, ok?”
“Sure…” Haruhi followed him with her glance as he made his way down the hall.

“Hikaru?” Kaoru peeked into the room before entering. “Are you sleeping?”
”No…” his brother mumbled from the bed.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
Kaoru stepped over to the bed and felt his forehead. “You’ve still got a fever. You sure you’re ok?”
“I’m fine.”
“I brought you some food.”
“I’m not really hungry, but thanks.” Hikaru smiled.
“You should eat.” Kaoru said, with worry in his voice.
Hikaru’s eyes met with his. “Do I worry you?”
”Yes.”
“Then I will eat a little. For you.”
Kaoru smiled. “I’ll get you something to drink too.” He went over to the mini-fridge and took out a carton of juice.
“Is there anything else you want?” he asked, looking at his brother.
“Yes…”
Their gazes met.
Hikaru’s was no longer as feverish and dull. His eyes were still moist, and his cheeks were still flushed, but in a different way. Kaoru felt his own cheeks flush, he swallowed.
“Hika…” he was silenced by soft lips on his own.
Kissing back, he let gave into Hikaru’s searching, gently probing tongue and parted his lips so it could meet with his own.
A soft, encouraging purr came from Hikaru’s throat.
He pulled the younger twin down on the bed, the kiss growing deeper as he got Kaoru’s jacket off him and threw it to the floor.

“Me too. Next time you should stay in bed with me…” he winked, and Kaoru laughed as he went through the door.
