Wheels On The Bus

Christmas is a time for long journeys.

Whether it is a journey of the heart or a physical journey across many miles; everyone travels somewhere at this time of year. It has become part of the tradition of Christmas, just like the yearly debates about the best and worst Christmas songs, Uncle Albert’s farts and the kids arguing about Father Christmas and toys. It is the trek worth all the downfalls, as families come together to share in the spirit of Christmas. In some cases, it was the only time some families would see each other as great distances separated them.

Ryo McLean smiled as he watched the snowy dark landscape pass from the bus’s window. Christmas had been wonderful with his both his adopted family and blood relations sharing the day with him. Together they had created memories he would treasure forever. His aunt and uncle besting Binki and Carol in a snowball fight. A Christmas dinner with all the trimmings that had made Binki speechless. Enjoying hot chocolate with marshmallows by a traditional crackling fire on Christmas Eve. Laughter from Dee’s terrible jokes and lame demonstrations as they attempted to play chards before Carol and Bikki went to bed. Softly sung carols drifting from the door as the Carollers called at the door. Twinkling Christmas lights casting a colourful glow in the dark room. The homely scents of a real Christmas tree mixed with freshly baked cookies.

The stolen kisses.

A smile stole across his face at that thought. They had been a highlight of the season. Pulling Dee behind the old horse chestnut tree in the garden to be kissed within an inch of his life, while the other pellet each other with snowballs. A tend brief kiss beside the fireplace in the early hours of Christmas Day as they lay together sharing their first proper Christmas.

It had been six months, since he had accepted his feelings for Dee Laytner and his life was still wonderful. Despite accepting the fact he loved another man, he had continued to harbour doubts over how long it would last. Dee had pursued him over two and a half years before he finally allowed himself to commit to any form of serious relationship beyond their partnership at work. He had been concerned that Dee would grow bored now the chase was over and find that his declarations of love had merely been misjudged lust. But the surprising personality of his partner had continued to surprise Ryo through their six months of officially being together.

Dee unexpectedly possessed a romantic nature. Ryo would wake up with a cup of coffee beside his bed every morning when Dee stayed over. Breakfast in bed was a Sunday routine. Funny notes would turn up in Ryo’s desk, written in riddles that would prove to be very sweet when he solved them. But it was Dee’s steadfast love that made Ryo feel secure. Every day he was told how much he was loved. Reminded constantly that his partner might be an idiot but he would never do anything that would cost him Ryo. Anything Ryo asked of Dee was done, even if it was done begrudgingly.

It was surprising how openly romantic you could be when conducting a secret relationship. Perhaps it was the cruellest part of their relationship. Ryo could not openly display his feelings to people he did not feel comfortable with or those he did not want to disappoint, like his family.
To the rest of the world life went on as it had done. Everyone still believed they were still good friends and partners; though everyone knew Dee definitely wanted more than friendship. His aunt and uncle thought Dee had for Christmas was because he was their nephew’s closest friend, and they knew about Dee’s orphan past and pressed Ryo to bring him along with his adopted son Binki, so that both could experience a nice family based traditional family that they had been depraved of most of their lives. The only people who knew were those that Ryo felt comfortable with knowing; Diana, FBI agent who had been there when he came to making his decision, Binki and Carol, they knew before Dee and Ryo had known, and Mother (the nun who raised Dee) whom had seen him and known that Dee felt something different for this man than any other person she had ever seen her beloved boy with.

Dragging himself from his reflections, Ryo leant forward to check on the sleeping figures of Binki and Carol. Both teenagers were asleep curled up on their seats. Taking the night bus had been a good idea; with fewer passengers on board there was more space available for the teens to use. A row each allowed them to talk to each other while spreading out and when they drifted off they could sleep comfortably without bother. Drawing Carol’s blanket over her shoulders, Ryo looked up into amused green eyes watching him from the back of the bus.

As the bus was practically empty save for the driver and two other passengers up front, Dee has suggested that while the teens slept, they should also try to catch some shut-eye before they arrived in New York. The long back seat was adequate length for both of them to comfortably stretch out on, as long as one of them stayed awake to ensure that ‘the brats’ as Dee put it did not pester the driver or other passengers then, they could try to sleep too. So after Binki and Carol has drifted away, Dee had opted to go first due to the fact he was first shift in the after their arrival back. After two hours, it appeared he still had not managed to dose off.

“Still awake?” Ryo asked moving to the back of the bus to sit on the edge of the seat just before where his partner lay on his side.

“Yep,” Dee said glancing down the aisle before sitting up and leaning into whisper to Ryo. “I have been having very naughty thoughts about a certain person and what mischief we could get up to here on this bus.”

Ryo raised his eyebrow at the comment. One thing that had not changed about Dee was his addiction to sex. It was a very healthy part of their relationship; Dee had taught him a lot since their early days and as he had become more comfortable with the physical side of their relationship, Dee had encouraged him to experiment more. Experimentation, he had learnt could lead to quite pleasurable, surprising moments.

“You… mean…here?” he whispered shivering at the thought.

Dee sat up and pushed the blanket he had brought with him aside. He glanced down the bus, reassured the coast was clear he grabbed Ryo’s shirt and pulled him into the shadows of the seat row in front. Bring them within breathing distance of each other’s lips.

“Why not, Ryo?” Dee whispered. “I’ve been a very good boy.”

Ryo’s lips were claimed before any protest could be uttered from them. It was a deep and all claiming kiss. The type that you never want to end as it was so delicious that you would gladly starve yourself of oxygen so that you could continue it. Deep and delving, the kiss continued until the heat began to build. When he was completely breathless and beyond all thought, masterful fingers quickly found the shirt buttons that shielded his handsome body from his lover’s from touch. Ryo gasped shallowly closing his eyes and surrendered his body.

Gently, cool fingers explored his heated skin sending shivers down his spine. He was tortured slowly as his lover’s touch reached his sensitive nipples. Those closer fingers that flicked scratched and toyed with them until Ryo began to whimper and were forced to bit his lip in order to contain the groan he longed to release.

Dee returned to kiss his lips gently with a chuckle. “Do you want me, Ryo?”

Yes,” he hissed.

He felt his lover smile against his skin as the fabric of the shirt was pushed off his shoulders. Then lips replaced fingers and teeth worried the sensitive skin. His fingers crept into the dark soft locks of his lover’s head, his own nails scrapping Dee’s scalp earning a hiss of breath from the man before him.

“I think we need a switch of positions,” Dee murmured playfully against Ryo’s ear.

As quickly as it was said and executed as quietly as a raindrop might land on the sidewalk, Ryo found himself sitting in the seat Dee had left vacant and his lover sitting in the narrow space between his legs and the seat well before the row in front. A dangerous smile appeared on his lover’s face as his fingers reached the waistband of Ryo’s jeans. The brown haired detective held his breath as his lover used his teeth to slowly drag the zipper down, raining gentle kisses down upon his growing arousal.
Ryo felt his entire body tense at the overwhelming pleasure coursing through his veins. He longed to cry out, but with gritted teeth he held in the sound, forcing more waves of pleasure to course through his body, as his muscles were stung as tight as a bow. Suddenly, it all shattered around him as Dee swallowed him deep. It would become one of his greatest moments of pleasure. His breathing was laboured as he watched the world reform in front of his eyes and his lover lick the last of the evidence of their passion from his lips.

He barely felt Dee restore his clothes to respectability. Completely astounded by the intensity of his orgasm, Ryo was boneless and a puppet for his lover to rearrange. The dark haired detective slowly moved them both to relax and lie against the length of the seats, settling Ryo’s head on his chest and drawing his lover close. Soon the older man drifted off into a dreamless sleep and with a kiss on his forehead.

“I love you, Ryo.” His lover whispered before joining him.

Binki woke as the bus lurched into the station in central New York. Grumbling he left he wonderful dream of lying beside his beautiful girlfriend in a very remote field where they could have enjoyed some mischief. Rubbing his eyes, he noticed Carol was sitting up humming softly to the music she was listening to through her headphones. She smiled and waved as she noticed he was awake. He felt his heart miss a beat, nothing in the dream world would ever compare to Carol in reality.

She was sleep ruffled but still as gorgeous as always.

“Hey,” she said taking off her headphones. “Sleep well?”

“Yeah, as well as you can on a bus.” Binki shrugged. “You?”

“I zoned out right away. Woke up an hour ago.” Carol said. “I’m starving though.”

“Me too!”

The thought of food made his stomach gurgle. Pancakes at the diner on the corner of the bus station sounded pretty good to him at that moment. It was at this point, Binki’s mind became truly awake and he realised that Ryo had not made a peep. Knowing his guardian, Binki knew Ryo should have been organising everyone to leave the bus as it drew into the station. Yet here they were still on the bus alone as the other passengers as disembarked and the driver was starting to off-load the luggage.

“Where’s Ryo?” he asked turning around to look toward the back of the bus.

Ryo had taken the seat right behind him, which now was empty save for an abandoned jacket and a paper-back book that Ryo had been reading as the bus drew out onto the highway. Glancing back to Carol with a confused frown on his face, he noticed her thumb jerking backwards. Leaning forward in his seat to peer down the aisle, his eyes widened as he saw Ryo lying on the long back seat covered in a blanket using Dee’s chest as a pillow. Both the men were still fast a sleep.

“They were like that when I woke up,” Carol said joining Binki on the edge of her row. “They look so sweet!”

“Suppose.” Binki replied, not quite sure what to say.

A dark head rose from the back seat, green eyes looking at the teens as they stared. Dee raised an eyebrow at the two and then gently beckoned to them with his free hand, as the other was trapped due to the position Ryo lay in on the seat. Carol glanced towards the front of the bus before rising from her seat. She smoothed her skirt down as she tiptoed back and crouched down to be eye level with Dee.

Binki could not hear what was said but Carol nodded a few times before reaching over into the dark haired detective’s jacket and fetching out a wallet. She whispered to Dee before returning to Ryo’s seat grabbing his jacket and book then she began packing up her own belongings into her rucksack. Binki took the silent hint and grabbing his walk-man and other junk. After a few minutes of shuffling about, the two teens left their seats and disembarked the bus.

“What’s going on?” Binki asked as Carol headed to the standing luggage.

“Dee told me to grab the bags, there are only three so we should be able to manage,” she replied selecting Ryo’s green travel back and her own pink one. “Dee gave me his wallet so we can head the diner over there and get breakfast. They will join us in a minute or two. We need to order two rounds of pancakes and two strong coffees. Remember that!”

Reaching for his own bag, Binki blinked and a looked up the bus. Wondering what on earth could have wiped out two detectives who were trained to handle stakeouts so a shift of staying awake on a bus should have not been too difficult. The promise of pancakes though disturbed his thoughts and his stomach won out before he dwelt too long on the issue. For doubt no he probably would have lost his appetite if he had figured out that his guardian and the great ape had enjoyed a make out session on a bus.

Ryo woke to the soft whisperings of his lover. Opening his eyes, he met the dark green gaze of his dark hair detective, still sleepy he reacted as normal drawing him into a lazy morning kiss. Dee responded to the kiss vigorously as he normally did, enjoying the sensation and the knowledge that it had been Ryo that reached for him. They pulled away after a few moments to gaze at each other.

“Morning to you too,” Dee grinned.

Ryo was about to reply when a squeal of a bus drawing into the station made him remember where he was. Alarmed, he bolted up in the seat looking up the bus. He felt his cheeks turning red as he turned to look a Dee who was chuckling in the seat next to him while he tied his bootlaces.

“Where are Binki and Cal?” he asked calming his racing heart.

“Diner on the corner, told them to grab the bags and order some breakfast,” Dee replied gathering up the blanket and few other items shoving them into his bag.

“Oh,” Ryo replied.

“Don’t worry they were fine,” Dee smiled reaching to stroke his lover’s face. “Hungry according to Cal, so I sent them off saying we would follow in a few minutes.”

Standing, Dee shrugged on his leather jacket before offered a hand to Ryo. He glanced up at his partner for a second, drinking in the sight of his lover. He slid his hand into Dee’s and was pulled to his feet. A brief look was shared by the pair, it caused Ryo’s heart always leap. It always happened with the deep longing looks that Dee would give him, the expressive jade eyes shining with the honest love felt by their owner, before it returned to the safety of the heart so that their friendly composure was restored before they disembarked the bus.

As he stood at the top of the steps, Ryo glanced back to the seat where they had slept in a very intimate manner in a public place. A strange thought crossed his mind. Why did he assume that he had to hide his happiness? As he left the bus, he decided his New Year resolution would be to work on coming out the closet a bit. Perhaps, he should even tell his aunt and uncle the truth about Dee. Stepping onto the sidewalk, Ryo reached for Dee’s hand.

Dee looked at him confused. “Are you sure, Ryo?”

“No, but I want to do this right now,” he said as a tingle of joy shot through his fingers to his heart. “We can discuss the rest later.”

Together they crossed the road heading to the diner. Carol was the only one who noticed their clasped hands never separated throughout breakfast. She never said anything, instead she kept smiling and clasped her own hand with Binki’s, while inwardly knowing something major had shifted between Dee and Ryo and pondered what the dawning new year would bring for their small little family.
