Intimidation
When the blond appeared, everyone in the room froze. K didn’t know how he did it, how his mere presence could silence everyone when all the shots K fired would only add to the frenzy. He would have admired the president, but they held a mutual animosity for each other—both liked to control the people around them, and neither would let the other have control of them. Both resented that the other man would not submit. Tohma had made it clear more than once that he thought K was dangerously unpredictable; however, his ability to “motivate” people was desperately needed in some cases, and they reached an unspoken agreement to live and let live.
K would find himself wondering, though. The president was so controlled; he kept himself as tightly in check as he did the people he manipulated, and K had never seen him angry. The quiet, stony “disappointment”, yes, but never truly angry. Ryuichi held that his friend just didn’t get mad—he’d seen every other emotion, including sadness and despair, and so decided that the keyboardist simply did not feel fury. K knew, of course, that he did—he must, because he is, after all, still human; that Ryuichi had never seen it just attested to the singer’s inherent ability—the intangible quality about him that cheered people up. Tohma would have to, eventually, feel antagonism.
K wanted to see it—see the President’s loss of control, see what the man could be when he just let go to react, to live. And if the blond wouldn’t volunteer the breakdown, Bad Luck’s manager would just have to cause it.
