Weight of The World

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SMACK! Tatsuha felt the hit as his brother-in-law took a deep breath.
“DON’T YOU EVER EVEN THINK OF GOING NEAR RYUICHI SAKUMA AGAIN! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU ANYWHERE NEAR NG RECORDS LET ALONE IN TOKYO!” In a much calmer voice he sighs, “How many times must I tell you to never go near, speak to, or even be within breathing distance of him and you go and pull this stunt. I can’t believe you even tried breaking in here! How could you? I’m sending you over to Yuki-san’s apartment. Though don’t expect a warm welcome. Mika will pick you up shortly.”
SMACK! “OF ALL THE STUPID THINGS YOU’VE DONE! HOW COULD YOU BREAK INTO SEGUCHI’S BUSINESS! NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! GO HOME WHERE YOU BELONG LIKE THE GOOD LITTLE MONK YOU ARE!” Eiri Yuki yells as he swings his arm back as if to hit him again.
Shuichi grabs his hand, “No, Yuki, don’t."
He looks hurt enough.” Shuichi felt bad for the poor monk both cheeks were red from Tohma and Yuki’s hits. He was hoping Mika would be nicer. There was an impatient knocking on the door just then, Yuki goes and grabs it.
“What? Oh, it’s you , Mika. He’s in here.”
All of Shuichi’s hopes were dashed when she storms in and slugs her younger brother,
“WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? BREAKING AND ENTERING? I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU! TO WASTE YOUR POTENTIAL FOR THIS? FATHER WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS! YOU WILL GO HOME AND STUDY HARD FOR SCHOOL INSTEAD OF CAUSING SO MUCH TROUBLE! WE’VE HAD IT WITH YOU AND YOUR ANTICS.” She stands there, her chest heaving from the rant.
When Tatsuha finally looks up at her he has such a lost expression she almost apologizes. Almost,
but in her mind he needed a reality check. “Come on, let’s take you home.”
He looks for his bag and realizes Yuki is holding it out to him. He nods his thanks and with downcast eyes he leaves, vowing in his mind never to come here again.
The ride home was in deadly tense silence as Mika steers the car to his prison. He loved being a monk, but he loved Ryuichi more. Unfortunately it will never happen. Not that he should be surprised. He looks back on all the times he tried to meet Sakuma. Every time he failed. He sighs and resigns himself to his fate. He makes a vow that slowly breaks his heart.
‘I will never see him even from a distance. No more concerts, no more signings (not that
those worked out), nothing.’ Mika glances over to see the slowly torn expression turn into the stubbornness associated with the Uesugi clan. She sighs, thinking this won’t be over.
When Tatsuha gets out of the car it’s to see the look of disappointment on his father’s face. He walks silently past to his room. Nittle Grasper memorabilia litter his room everywhere.
Sighing, he reaches for one of his favorite posters. It was one where Ryuichi look at the viewer seductively with a smirk and a promise blazing in his eyes. He takes it off the wall, staring at it before placing it on his bed. Soon all the pictures, posters and Nittle Grasper fan art are laying on his bed. He searches for a box to put them in. Placing all the cds, action figures, and various other items to put in another. He brings the box of cds to one of the acolytes.
“Would you please give all this to charity or sell them and use the proceeds to the temple offering?”
The acolyte nods and bows as he brings it to a room set aside for such things. He heads to his father and asks if he could start a fire out towards one of the clearings.
“Why would you need one?” the senior Uesugi asks.
“Just cleaning my room. I found some things that would be best to burn. They won’t harm he environment. Just a cleansing ritual, Father. Something to help me become a better monk.”
His father nods his approval and Tatsuha enters his room again. He picks up the box of posters and heads out, not noticing Mika watching him. She had walked into his room, after talking with their father, to see how Tatsuha was holding up. She was not expecting the bare walls, Nittle Grasper posters tossed into a box and no sign of anything that indicated her brother’s obsession. She follows him to see him build a fire. As she watches him toss the posters and pictures into it, she notices her brother‘s eyes slowly deaden. This time, though, she wonders if they all had gone too far this time.
