The meet and greet

A/N: Yes, this does contain the same pairing as Shaun-Odenbach and Tyler_Matosui’s stories, but is in NO WAY copying their ideas. Any similarities are purely coincidental.

Ash, Brock, and Dawn were sitting on a beach. Where, none of them knew, because the entire Sinnoh region was covered in so many beaches, it was hard to determine which one they were at. After a quick look at the Sinnoh Pokémon guide, Brock shook his head.

“All I can say is, we’re somewhere near Floraroma Town. Probably a few miles away, to say the least, but I’m not exactly sure.” Brock shook his head again.

“While we’re here, why don’t we relax a bit? I mean, we’ve been traveling for a while, can’t we take a break?” Dawn said excitedly.

“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, actually.” Ash said, trying to sound enthusiastic, but with little success. Dawn squealed, causing both Ash and Brock to wince slightly. Moments later she was gone, probably going to change into her bikini.

“Well, I guess I’ll stay here with you for a little bi-Oh, hello beautiful!” Brock jumped up, bolting over to the girl that just walked by. As he did, Croagunk released itself from the containing Pokéball, and walked over to Brock. Using Poison Jab, Croagunk relieved the young woman of Brock’s over-exaggerated compliments. After Brock fell over, Croagunk grabbed his ankles, dragging him off to some unknown location, chuckling while traversing the distance.

“He never seems to learn. Maybe someday, but today was not that day.” Ash sighed, looking back to the sky and sea. Even though sight of the light blue of the sky and darker blue of the water was relaxing, it gave Ash a painful memory of the past. No, it wasn’t something bad that happened, but just the opposite; it reminded him of his friends from his previous travels. The ocean blue reminded him of Misty’s eyes, while the sky was the same color as May’s. This was the main reason he disliked any body of water; it reminded him too much of Misty. There was nothing Ash could do about the sky, so he tried to avoid looking upward as much as possible.

“Hey Ash, what’re you doin’?” Dawn was staring right at him. Her eyes were rather unique; no matter what, they always seemed to sparkle. Misty and May’s eyes only sparkled when they got excited. Not that it was a bad thing, but the constant shine led Ash to believe that Dawn was always up to something, even when she wasn’t.

“Oh, you’re out? It took you long enough!” Ash laughed a bit as Dawn smacked him playfully.

“Well, what do you think? Do you like it?” Dawn posed for him. This wasn’t something new either; Dawn always made a point to pose for Ash, even if she didn’t get a new outfit.

“Well, uh...” Ash never was good at giving compliments, no matter how many times she posed for him.

“I’ll take that as a yes then.” Dawn smiled, sitting down next to Ash. The blush on his face faded, and Ash returned the smile.

“Do you know where Brock went? Croagunk dragged him off, but he hasn’t returned yet.” Dawn looked at him curiously, her head tilted.

“No, I don’t think I’ve seen him. He’s around here somewhere, I’m sure of that.” Dawn’s smile returned.

“Well, I better go find him before he gets dragged off by Croagunk again. We don’t need him gone all day, do we?” Ash laughed lightly before standing up, heading in the direction that Croagunk dragged off Brock. “Be back in a bit!” Ash waved to Dawn before heading off.

“If not, then I’m gonna come find you!” Dawn waved back, laughing.

----------

After much walking, Ash still hadn’t found Brock. Exhausted, he sat down, regaining he breath before he continued. After sitting down, Ash looked around, in the hopes of seeing Croagunk, Brock, or both. He didn’t find either Brock or Croagunk, but the sight before him nearly made Ash lose his breath.

“No way...it can’t be...can it?” Ash stared in surprise at the four figures near the water’s edge.

A teenage girl, a boy who was just a little shorter than her, and a Blaziken and Gardevoir made up the small group sitting in front of the ocean. Naturally, the Blaziken sat a few feet away from the edge of the water, but still close by the other three.

“So, sis, you gonna enter the contest soon?” The younger boy asked, standing up. Gardevoir did the same, levitating next to him.

“Eh, I don’t know yet. I’m still kinda nervous. Blaziken, help me up please?” Blaziken did as asked, and picked up the female coordinator. After being set down, she stretched, a yawn escaping her lips.

“You’re already tired? Then forget the contest, you’re gonna fall asleep before we get there!” The boy laughed, only to be hit by his sister.

“Hey, that hurts you know!” the boy then tackled his sister. They began rolling around in the sand, jokingly fighting with each other. Eventually the older sibling got control, and stood up, the younger underneath her arm. Ash walked over to them, smiling.

“I’m not interrupting anything, am I?” Instantly, the boy was dropped, and the girl slowly turned to face Ash.

“Is that really you?” May said quietly, like she was asking herself.

“Only if you’re the girl I think you are.” Ash’s smile turned into a smirk.

“It really is you, Ash!” May tackled Ash into the sand, squealing with delight.

“I missed you too, but can you stop crushing me now?” Ash said, slightly muffled.

“You don’t know how much I missed you! But yes, I’ll let go now.” May climbed off, still smiling.

“Thanks. Hey, where’d Max go?” Ash looked around for the younger boy.

“I’m right behind you, Ash.” Ash turned around, only to see the boy disappear in a flash of blue energy.

“Huh? Where’d he go?” Ash blinked in surprise.

“Over here! Now I’m over here!” Max continued to teleport around Ash.

“Okay Max, that’s enough. He’s already confused enough.” May rolled her eyes.

“Aw, you’re no fun May. Gardevoir, you can stop now.” Max appeared right next to Ash, with his Gardevoir next to him.

“Hey Max. You got tall, didn’t you?” Max rolled his eyes like his sister.

“It’s only a few inches, but I guess you’re right. Anyway, let me introduce Gardevoir. You do remember her, don’t you?” Max watched as Ash tried to remember.

“Uh...give me a minute...oh, I remember now. Wasn’t she the sick Ralts that you found a couple years ago?” Ash smiled at his success.

“Yup, you got that right. When we returned to Hoenn, she was the first pokémon I caught. Well actually, I didn’t even need to battle her. She just hopped right in the pokéball. Of course, I had to negotiate with her mother and older sister before they’d let me go near her. But we’ve been training everyday, and now look. Gardevoir knows every move she can by leveling up. Wanna battle?” At the last two words, Ash forgot everything else Max said. Ash only responded with a simple nod.

----------

While the boys began to battle, May moved off to the side. They had already agreed upon a classic three versus three battle, with no time limit. With no one else to be referee, May took the position. Ash had chosen his Pikachu to start, while Max opted for his Gardevoir.

Before any attacks could be initiated, Brock called out to Ash, and had the same surprise as Ash when he learned that May and Max were in Sinnoh. Deciding to question later, Brock quickly took over position of referee, much to May’s relief. May sat down a small distance away from the battle, watching as her brother and best friend battled.

“Go Pikachu! Let’s start things off with a Thunderbolt!” Ash shouted.

“Gardevoir, use Double Team to avoid it.” Max simply commanded

Pikachu shot the Thunderbolt, but it missed Gardevoir completely, only hitting sand.

“Okay then, Pikachu, use Agility!” Pikachu stopped for a moment, relaxing its body.

“Gardevoir, Psychic.” Max said.

“Use Quick attack to hit first Pikachu!” While Gardevoir was generating the Psychic, Pikachu ran into her, stopping the Psychic attack from hitting.

“Gardevoir, let’s end this. Use hypnosis to knock out Pikachu, and then use Dream Eater to heal yourself.” Gardevoir nodded, waiting for the opportunity to use the attack. Moments later Pikachu fell to the ground, asleep, and Gardevoir used the Dream Eater to replenish the damage done by the Quick attack.

“Pikachu is unable to battle. Gardevoir wins this round.” Brock said.

“Nice fight, Max. But it’s not over yet! Go Aipom!” The monkey-like pokémon appeared out of its pokéball, hopping around excitedly. Before the battle even started, though, Aipom ran over to Pikachu, setting the sleeping pokémon at Ash’s feet.

“Aipom, start with a Swift attack!” Aipom did so, shooting the star-shaped rays at Gardevoir.

“Gardevoir, Double Team.” Max didn’t show it, but was clearly getting worried.

“Not again! Aipom, charge a Focus Punch!” Ash smiled as the attack began to form.

“Well, can’t be too safe. Destiny Bond.” Max smirked as the smile on Ash’s face vanished.

“How can Gardevoir know Destiny Bond? That’s impossible!”

“Not really, Ash. When Ralts was born, she already knew it. I guess that the father was a Ghost type, because that would make sense. Let’s return to the battle, shall we?” Max said, looking back to the Aipom that was charging at his Gardevoir. The attack hit, and Gardevoir fainted from the attack. Due to the Destiny Bond though, so did Aipom.

“Both Gardevoir and Aipom are unable to battle. This round is a tie.” Brock declared

“Well Ash, I still have two pokémon, while you only have one. Do you think you can win this?” Max had a smirk imprinted on his face.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out!” Ash said, confidence dripping off his words.

“I suppose there is. Breloom, let’s do this.” Max held out the pokéball in one hand. With a flash, the Mushroom pokémon appeared, ready to fight.

“Breloom huh? Well then, I choose Staravia!” Max frowned, knowing that type advantage was against him.

“Breloom, start off with a Headbutt.” Breloom nodded, charging toward Staravia before jumping into the air, hitting the bird in the chest.

“Staravia, use a Wing Attack!” Staravia dove down, hitting Breloom with a wing. The attack caused Breloom to stumble back, taking quite a bit of damage. Even so, Breloom was still willing to fight.

“Breloom, use Mind Reader.” Max smiled, already knowing his next move.

“Staravia, use Arial Ace!” Staravia once again dove down to Breloom, ready to strike.

“Not this time, Ash. Breloom, Mach Punch.” Breloom jumped up at Staravia, quickly punching it before dropping back down.

“Try a Quick Attack Staravia!” Staravia was getting weak, and couldn’t take much more. Staravia did as told, though, and closed the distance to Breloom quickly. Breloom took the hit, but remained standing.

“Counter.” Breloom ran at Staravia, punching with twice the power that the Quick Attack did. Staravia fell to the ground, but quickly flew back into the air. By now Staravia’s health was low, and was going to be out soon.

“Staravia, use Whirlwind!” Ash smiled as the winds sped up, eventually sending Breloom flying. Before it got too far, though, Max returned it.

“Breloom has been removed from battle, Staravia wins this round.” Brock said.

“Smart, Ash. I didn’t know Staravia knew that move. Well, I guess now this battle ends. Go Manectric.” Max released the Discharge pokémon the same way that Breloom was released.

“Manectric, use Charge for your next attack.” Manectric did so, with electricity visibly coursing through its body.

“Staravia, use Wing Attack again!” Staravia hit Manectric with the attack, wincing from the electricity.

“Manectric, let’s finish this. Thunder.” Manectric shot the attack, which hit the Staravia dead on. Due to the Charge as well as Manectric’s high level, the amount of electricity was comparable with that of Pikachu’s electric attacks. So from the strength of the attack, type advantage, and previous battles, Staravia simply couldn’t survive the attack. Staravia fell to the ground, fainted. Ash returned the fallen bird, then clipping the pokéball to his belt.

“Staravia is unable to battle. Max is the winner of this battle.” Brock stated.

“Max, that was a great battle. If we get the chance, maybe we can have another round sometime.” Ash shook hands with Max.

“Indeed that was a good match. I’ll accept a battle from you anytime, Ash. Just say the word.” Max returned the handshake.

“What, you won?! Wailords don’t fly yet! How is this possible?” May walked up, grinning.

“Thanks for your support, sis.” Max glared at May.

“Anytime, bro, anytime.” May continued grinning.

“ASH! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!” Dawn ran up to Ash, obviously angry.

“Right here.” Ash said, teasing her.

“I’ve been waiting for twenty minutes for you to come back! But when I come to find you, you’re in a pokémon battle! Do you even know where Brock is?” Dawn didn’t pay any attention to May or Max.

“Actually Dawn, I’m right here.” Brock said, walking over to the group.

“Oh, well, in that case...oh never mind. As long as you’re both here, then I guess I shouldn’t worry anymore.” Dawn’s mood suddenly turned much lighter.

“By the way, I’m Dawn. Nice to meet you!” Dawn held out a hand to Max and May, who were equally stunned. May was the first to respond, accepting the handshake.

“I’m May, and this is Max, my brother. Nice to meet you too!” May smiled.

“As my sister said, I’m Max. Pleased to make your acquaintance.” Max said, shaking her hand.

“I take it you two know Ash from somewhere? I doubt he’d just randomly battle someone he didn’t know. Well, now that I think about it...” Dawn trailed off, thinking.

“Okay Dawn, that’s enough. But yes, I do know these two. I met them about two and a half years ago, when I was just starting my journey through Hoenn, and when May was just becoming a trainer. Shortly after that, we met up with Max near Petalburg, and then Brock joined us. Then, we traveled all over Hoenn for about a year, and then headed to the Battle Frontier for another year and a half. After that, May and Max went back to Hoenn, while Brock and I went back to our homes. Okay, I’m gonna catch my breath now.” Ash breathed deeply as he caught his breath.

“Wow, so you guys have known each other for quite a while, huh? I only met Ash a couple months ago, back in Sandgem Town. I still remember your Pikachu zapping my bike, Ash.” Dawn glared at him.

“Ash, you and your Pikachu must really hate bikes, because my bike suffered the same fate.” May glared at Ash as well.

“Oh come on! May, your bike wasn’t my fault, that was Team Rocket’s fault, you know that! And Dawn, well...I wasn’t there, but if your bike got fried, then that’s not my fault either. So can we get off this topic now?” Dawn and May shook their heads at the same time, ending the conversation.

“So, May, what are you and Max doing here?” Brock asked.

“Oh right, forgot about that. After I beat Johto, I returned to Hoenn. There, I found out Max had just beaten the Hoenn League. After being there for a little bit, we each got an invitation to come to Sinnoh. So, here we are.” May smiled up at Ash.

“You beat Johto that fast? Wow, I’m impressed. Same with you, Max. How’d you get through those regions so fast?” Ash was curious how they were able to beat the large continents within a year.

“It’s not that difficult actually. Without Team Rocket, it’s really easy to go places.” May smiled as Ash blushed.

“Hey, it’s not my fault they won’t stop chasing after me for my Pikachu. But what about the Grand Festival? That’s only held once a year isn’t it? Same thing with the League Tournaments.”

“Actually, there was a change. In Johto and Hoenn, the Grand Festival and League Tournament are now held once every six months.” Ash stared in surprise.

“How come it couldn’t be like that when I was there? That would’ve made things a lot easier.” Ash complained.

“Actually, when you think about it, not really. Team Rocket slowed us down, and so we made it to the League Tournament and Grand Festival just in time. Oh, that reminds me! I beat Drew! I beat him I beat him I beat him!” May jumped up and down excitedly.

“You did? Err, I mean, congratulations!” Ash wasn’t quick enough, and May punched his arm.

“Ouch! I said congratulations, didn’t I?” Ash began to back away from May.

“Yes, I thank you for that, but I’m hitting you for what you said before that!” May hit him again.

“Ouch! I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Stop hitting me already!” Ash was rubbing his arm where May was beating him.

“Okay you two, break it up.” Brock stood between Ash and May, holding them apart.

“Do they always do this?” Dawn asked.

“Well, hitting is new, but those two fighting is normal. They don’t fight as much as my sister and I do, but they still share a fair amount of fighting. Afterwards, though, they always forgive each other and all that mushy stuff. Sorta like right now.” Max looked away, making a disgusted sound as he did.

Sure enough, May and Ash were apologizing, both of them over-exaggerating. Dawn immediately felt something stir inside her, but she knew it wasn’t disgust; no, it was something else. Whatever it was, it made Dawn utterly resent May, for no reason at all. Dawn looked away, repulsed by the very sight of May. Whatever this new feeling was, Dawn didn’t like it, but she couldn’t do anything about it. For now, she’d simply have to deal with the problem.

---------

Later on that night, everyone was sitting around a campfire, talking about different things. Eventually, Ash brought up the topic about how he was going to beat the next gym leader, even though he had no clue where to go next.

“So Ash, let me get this straight; you’re going to beat the next gym....even though you don’t even know where the nearest city is?” May laughed at him.

“Of course I know where the next city is! It’s Floaroma City.” Ash said.

“That’s not what I asked. Do you know where it is, that’s my question.” May smirked at him.

“Uh... well...I don’t know where it is now, but I’ll find it, sooner or later.” Ash returned the smirk.

“Right Ash, right.” May rolled her eyes.

In this moment of silence, Dawn leaned over an whispered something in May’s ear.

“You’ll have to excuse us boys, because we have to talk about something.” May stood up, along with Dawn.

“Like what?” Max asked, curious.

“Isn’t it obvious? To you guys, it’s known as girl-talk.” Dawn explained.

“In that case, cover your ears; otherwise you’ll be bored to death!” Ash laughed, but was quickly silence when both May and Dawn hit him.

“Ouch, that- ouch! What is it with girls hitting me today?” Ash said, rubbing his head.

“Shut up.” The girls said in unison.

Ash just looked at their retreating forms, stunned.

----------

“So, Dawn, what’d you wanna talk about? It had to be important for you bring me all the way out here.” May and Dawn were seated across from each other.

“I’ll make it simple; it has to do with Ash.” Dawn blushed as she said his name.

“Let me guess. You have a crush on him, but he’s too stupid to realize it.” May sat with her hands in her lap.

“Well, it’s sorta like that.” Dawn’s blush increased.

“Really? Then what is it?” May said, already knowing what she was going to say.

“I...well; I don’t want to talk about that just yet. But you like him, don’t you?” Dawn said nervously.

“Yeah, you could say that. I like him, but at the same time I don’t. Now, back to you. I’m pretty sure I know what’s going on here. You think you’re in love, and you want to get married to Ash, and have a bunch of little kids. Right?” May couldn’t help but smirk as Dawn blushed more.

“Well...I-I don’t know about kids...but...how can you stay so calm?” May smiled at her question.

“Thought so. But to answer you’re question, it’s really not that difficult. When I was younger, that’s exactly how I felt; I thought I fell in love with Ash, wanted to get married, have kids, all that. Now, though, things are different. I don’t know if it’s love, but I do know that I wouldn’t mind having a little fun, if you know what I mean.” It was now May’s turn to blush, as she began to think perverse thoughts.

“Actually, I don’t know what you mean...sorry.” Dawn looked at her feet.

“That’s good then. There now, Dawn, tell me; do you know how babies are born, or do you still think that you came to your mom and dad by a Pelipper?” May looked at Dawn, waiting for a response.

“I know how babies are born. Well, a little bit.” Dawn kept her gaze on the ground.

“Please tell me that you at least know what the ‘private parts’ are.” May looked up to the sky above.

“Yeah, I do.” Dawn’s voice began to shake.

“Okay then, good. If you know that, then it’s pretty simple to figure out. There’s other stuff you can do, but we’ll talk about that another time. Now as to what I was talking about earlier; that’s what I meant.” Dawn sat upright, her cheeks burning.

“You-you want to have...sex?” Dawn’s voice dropped to a low whisper as she said the last part.

“You make it sound like it’s a bad thing. That’s because you don’t know...” May trailed off, her blush returning.

“What don’t I know? What do you mean?” Even though this was a topic that Dawn didn’t like, she wanted to know what May meant.

“Really, Dawn, it really isn’t as bad as you’ve probably been told. Just listen to me. If it really was so bad, then why would I be talking about it like this?” May felt her blush increasing.

“I don’t know...” Dawn said, looking away from May once more.

“Exactly. Well, we’ve been out here for quite a while. Think we should head back, before the boys worry?” May began to stand up, giving Dawn only one choice.

“Yeah, I guess so.” Dawn stood up, following May.

As the girls walked back, neither of them said a single word. Dawn was still bothered by their previous conversation, but May seemed to blow it off as if nothing happened. She was blushing a little, but that was because of the thoughts that currently occupied her.

----------

Just to save my own ass, I’m going to say this again. This story is entirely mine, and any similarities between it and any other are nothing more than coincidence. The only thing that this story shares with the stories “The Les life of May” and “Sinnoh Hoenn Crossed Paths. New Found love” by Shaun-Odenbach and Tyler_Matosui (respectively) is the pairing, which is the yuri pairing May/Dawn. So I don’t want any complaints that I copied them, which I didn’t.

Reviews are always appreciated. If you review, then I'll respond as soon as possible. So feel free to drop a review.

By the way, chapter 2 will be up...whenever I get it typed up. I’ll try to reduce the dialogue, and have more action. I don’t mean anything by that....really...STOP QUESTIONING ME!!! Anyways...
