Rollercoaster of Love
“I can only say this…” She paused. “I was always told they were bad for me. It would never work out, and being the hard headed person I am I thought why not find out for myself if it’s true or not…”
“What did you find?” The older woman looked at her intently her hands clenching and unclenching, a habit done when frustration boils to the surface.
“The only way I can say is to tell you what I‘ve observed…”
“Hikaru!” The older of the Hitachiin twins snapped out of his daze and looked at his brother who merely smiled at him. “Come on, before they leave us.” Kaoru slipped his sunglasses on, still smiling and Hikaru only followed suit. Kaoru turned and walked before him leaving the older twin to watch his back.
Pain... that could be the only word to describe what Hikaru was feeling at this particular moment… Hikaru had been bad, he had done something to cause pain to his brother and there was no way to rectify it now. Although they continued with the club duties, selling their brotherly love and the like, Hikaru knew… his brother was disappointed in him.
“But Haruhi!” Once more, the elder twin was snapped from his revelry, and found his Lord and the club Princess arguing. For whatever reason, Haruhi was donning the look of indifference usually worn on the Twins’ faces and Tamaki Begging.
“It was given to me and I already said no it wasn’t a gift from a customer.”
“Then let me see!” Tamaki whined then sighed, then all at once stood up pointing at her. “Unless... it’s from some outside person claiming their love for you! Daddy will not have it!” The look of indifference lasted a bit longer, before it gave way to the evil smirk, also belonging to the Hitachiin twins.
“You’re right. My boyfriend was over and he left it. I’d forgotten and thought I’d have something to enjoy on the flight.” Tamaki’s stance dropped before something exploded in his mind and off in a corner of an Ootori family jet he went to sulk.
“Haruhi… you know you shouldn’t tease Milord like that.” Hikaru draped his arms over her shoulders just out of groping reach.
“What else will we have to do if you’re making him miserable for us?” Kaoru rested against his brother, his left hand placed on one of her shoulders, his fingers brushing his brother’s arm.
“He’s annoying.” Tamaki groaned as if she had driven the stake that much further into his heart.
“What is this about anyway?” Kaoru finally asked.
“Haru-Chan found a mysterious envelope in her carry-on bag. It had no name or anything on it.” Hunni called out after having swallowed a mouthful of cake. Mori sat right next to him just sitting idly watching the commotion.
“A mysterious envelope?” Hikaru’s eyebrow rose with the question.
“It’s not that mysterious.” Haruhi sighed. “’Lotte, gave it to me.” She paused feeling the two boys hanging all over her tense up shortly but continued. “She met me as I was leaving the house to wait for Tamaki. It is a bunch of pictures we took together. Nothing special.”
“Pictures?” Hunni perked up, his plate of cake already empty. “Can I see?”
“If you want.” Haruhi held out the envelope and the smallest Host Club member rushed forward and then back to the table to spread the pictures out.
“Wow, Haru-Chan is very Haute Couture!” Hunni spread the pictures out. Tamaki who at some point stopped sulking had inched his way to the table with his big sad eyes to peek.
“Yea… She couldn’t sleep and for some reason I couldn’t sleep so we had all of this done.” Haruhi crossed the plane and sat next to the oldest member in the club silently admiring her image.
“Okay, we’re ready to go.” Kyoya entered the plane at last.
“Okay.” Haruhi nodded and packed up the pictures, somewhat thrilled to be riding a plane, having gotten her passport now the boys were taking her out of the country.
For the most part, they were just as happy as she was, but the twins… She looked over at them, as everyone settled and buckled themselves in their seats. Kaoru still wore his sunglasses and rested his head against the back of his seat, as if planning to sleep.
Hikaru… Hikaru was the one that worried her. She had noticed the tension between the brothers, while they have not fought it out, tension was tension and neither handled it that well in her opinion, Hikaru handling it the worst out of the two. Well, she supposed to some degree he deserved to feel as lousy as he did, if only he knew how to tolerate his rampant emotions, things would not have turned out the way it had.
“Haruhi.” A voice made her jump a little and she looked up to see the tallest member of the club. His eyes were on the seat beside her.
“Take it, no one else is here. Where’s Hunni?” She watched him sit. His gaze turned to her, then to Hunni who was sitting alone clutching his Bunny, then straight ahead. That’s right... they had all been involved with this mess in some form or other. Perhaps it was because the Twins were having harder time dealing, that it seemed like they were victims…
“Rest, Haruhi.” Mori said after sometime when the plane leveled out. “It’s a long ride.”
“Ah… okay.” She looked at him again and leaned her head back in the manner Kaoru had… but how could she sleep? The events of the past couple of months swirled around in her head, especially as to some degree, she was in the middle of it all.
A few months back, Haruhi had received an e-mail. Not that receiving an email was very unusual, but it was where the e-mail had come from. From Los Angeles, California, USA. In her Junior High, they had been involved with a “Pen Pal” program. Her particular Pen Pal wound up being a girl who lived in America, and was older than she was involved with a mentoring program, which led her to being Haruhi’s Pen Pal. What she hadn’t expected… was that the young lady would come to Japan, much less shake up her already shaken world….
{Some time back}
“Haruhi!” The “she-he” found an index finger in her face as she stepped into her house. “Where have you been, Daddy has been so worried about you!” Without even looking past the finger in her face she knew who was speaking to her. It was none other than Suoh Tamaki.
“Why are you in my house? And where is my father?” She finally drew her eyes up to look at the blonde, and as usual her heart wavered when their eyes met.
“Ranka suddenly got called into work a moment ago and left in a hurry.” Kyoya spoke up his trusty notebook in hand.
“Haru-Chan, We’re hungry!” Her face then fell with mild annoyance.
“Why do you guys insist on dropping by without notice? I could’ve had plans you know!!”
“Yeah, right.” The reply came from the oldest of the Hitachiin twins, his tone as rude as always. “Were you planning to clean the toilet or something?”
“No, I-”
“Do it later!” Kaoru chimed in not nearly as rude sounding.
“Haru-Chan, What did your father say?” The sound of footsteps rushed up the concrete stairs and Haruhi turned from the boys who were all looking at the open door waiting for this person to appear. “Haru-Chan?”
“He left.” Haruhi called back and stepped back in mild shock when a face appeared in her doorway.
The face belonging to a young lady, definitely not of Japanese descent with her long curly, black hair stopping at her shoulder. Her skin had a kiss of color to her, as if she had been tanning on the beach. But what the young men noticed above all else, was this female had a rack on her.
“Well, then come on down the girls are ready for you!!” She smiled then noticed the group of young men behind her. “Oh… you have company…”
“These, are my friends from school.” Haruhi turned to look between the boys and the young lady at her door.
“The Host Club?” The young lady smiled as the frowns that started to grace the faces around. “They really are gorgeous young men. No wonder why you didn’t want me meeting them!”
“No, its not that.” Haruhi sighed.
“Sorry, I’m being rude. I’m Charlotte! I’m an American born girl, and I’m here on reconnaissance!” She kept on smiling this girl… even when her introduction was met with silence. Just great….
“What did you find?” The older woman looked at her intently her hands clenching and unclenching, a habit done when frustration boils to the surface.
