Prologue

“Touma?” Ryuichi asked with really big blue eyes, squeezing Kumagoro tightly to his chest. He was just so confused.

“Oh my god, Ryu,” Touma gasped in horror, looking his good friend over. “What in the world did your stylist do to your hair?”

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child – my voodoo child..

“He told me that it was the style that all the young men were wearing,” he said, looking around the room. “And he was wearing these really big glasses, and had dark hair gelled up in these awesome spikes.”

Touma’s left eye twitched. “Did you happen to get his name?”

You’re like voodoo baby,
You just take hold.
Put your cards on the table baby,
Do I twist do I fold?

Ryuichi nodded. “He told me to call him Tatty.”

Touma put a hand to his forehead. “Tatty, huh?”

“Yeah,” Ryuichi told him, taking a seat on the sofa that was near the big glass windows in the huge office. “He had on these sparkly gold pants and a silver shirt. He looked just like one of those hip stylists, too.”

“So, he looked like a pimp?” Touma asked.

Ryuichi cocked his head to the side, having Kumagoro answer for him. “He was far too sexy to be a pimp.”

You’re like voodoo honey,
All silver and gold.
Why don’t you tell me my future?
Why don’t I sell you my soul?

Touma walked over to look at the cockatoo that was now Ryuichi’s hair. It just stuck up all over the place now. In a way, it did look kind of hip. But, it was so not Ryuichi. Well, perhaps it was. It did make him look even crazier that usual.

“You should have seen the way people were looking at me as I came up here to see you.” Ryuichi said, having Kumagoro bounce on his knee. “They were jumping out of my way and bowing all over the place. One would think that I had snapped and done something naughty.”

Touma nodded his head. “Well, with a hairstyle like this, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.”

Ryuichi giggled, making Kumagoro do little cartwheels.

So here it comes – the sound of drums..
Here come the drums, here come the drums.

Touma turned to look at the door. “What in the world is going on out there?”

Ryuichi shrugged his shoulders. “I think Shuichi is beating his head against the drums again. He is probably in another one of his slumpy-slumps.”

The pretty blond rolled his eyes. “Sometimes I wonder why I even tolerate his antics.”

“I know the answer!” Ryuichi had Kumagoro shout, bouncing up and down like a maniac. “He makes you lots of money and Bad Luck is awesome!”

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child - my voodoo child.

“This is true,” Touma told him, walking over to take a seat behind his expensive looking desk. “He makes me lots of money and then he goes and destroys something that costs me lots of money.”

“Well, actually,” Ryuichi said, suddenly on his feet, dancing around the room as if he had no control over his body. “That would be K and that scary American lady that is destroying lots of stuff.”

He had no idea why he was doing this. Perhaps his body just wanted to be all pretty and sparkle in the bright sunlight that was pouring through the windows.

Don’t say maybe, maybe
It’s supernatural – I’m coming undone.

“Ryu?” Touma asked. “Would you care to explain why you are dancing like a lunatic?”

Ryuichi was twirling around in circles, looking as if he were on skates. “I’m not really sure, but aren’t I pretty?”

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child - my voodoo child.

“Yes, you are very pretty.” Touma told him, leaning forwards to rest his elbows on his desk. “But don’t you think you should go and see someone about your hair?”

“I’ll have Kumagoro do something about my hair later.” Ryuichi told him, twirling around the sofa, picking his bunny up so he could dance with him. Kumagoro always led. “Right now my body seems to just want to dance.”

Don’t say maybe, maybe
It’s supernatural – I’m coming undone

Touma watched the legend singer for his group, Nittle Grasper, dance around the room like a crazy person. It looked like one of those strange tribal dances he had seen on the Discovery Channel at home.

“Wow, I’m hungry.” Ryuichi said, jumping over the sofa, twirling in the air as he did so. “I think I want some noodles.”

“Then why don’t you go get you some?” Touma told him, admiring that slender frame that looked yummy enough to gobble up in one selfish serving. “Or would you prefer that I called it in and have it delivered here to you?”

Ryuichi suddenly felt as if something cold was being forced into his mouth and he shivered. It was so cold it felt like snow running through his body.

You’re like voodoo baby,
Your kisses are cold.
Feel your poison running through me?
Let me never grow old.

He suddenly started dancing towards the door. “Oh, it looks like I’m going to go get it.”

Touma blanched when the brunette danced face first into it. It would have been funny if he had not left a dent in the fine craftsmanship. There was another check to be written.

“Are you okay?” Touma asked in concern, getting to his feet, walking over to open the door for him.

“Oh, yeah,” Ryuichi told him, bouncing out the door on one leg. “It will take more than a silly door to keep me from going to get me some yummy-yum for my tummy-tum.”

Touma nodded.

“OUCH!” Ryuichi yelled, grabbing his shirt over his heart area. “That really hurt.”

“What’s wrong?” Touma asked, seeing this, terrified that he might be having a heart attack at such a young age.

“Nothing,” he giggled, holding up a pin. “One of the designers must have left this here.”

Touma ran a hand through his blond locks in relief. “I will see you later at practice then.”

Ryuichi waved as he continued to dance down the hall. He yelled for people to get out of his sparkly way or they would be danced over.

“I’m Lord of the Sparkly!”

Touma smiled and walked back into his office only to blanch. All the photos of Ryuichi were no longer in their frames. He had nothing but empty frames hanging on his walls.

“WHAT THE FUCK?”

You’re like voodoo honey,
My pictures you stole.
You play me like a puppet,
Sticking pins in a doll!

“Hey, Shuichi!” Ryuichi waved at the pretty shiny as he danced by. “How goes your slumpy-slump?”

“Huh,” the pretty pink haired shiny asked him in confusion. “What slump?”

Ryuichi tried to cock his head to the side and realized that he couldn’t as he danced along in a circle. “Wasn’t that you banging on the drums?”

So here it comes – the sound of drums,
Here come the drums, here come the drums.

Shuichi turned to look all around. Those drums sounded as if they were coming from every direction.

“I said to get me a cheeseburger, goddamn it!” A loud voice shouted, gunfire echoing from the room behind the pink haired singer.

“Oh, Jesus, save me!” Mr. Sakano cried, running from the room in terror. “How come you never get down off your cross and help me!”

“Oh, it looks like I’m off, Shuichi.” Ryuichi told him, beginning to dance on down the hall like a lunatic. “Maybe we can go get some candy later. Kumagoro loves him some candy.”

Shuichi nodded, not thinking anything of the older singer’s antics. He was crazy, in the good way, in the sexy way.

“Oh,” Shuichi called after him. “What happened to your hair?”

Ryuichi giggled, spinning around like a merry –go – round. “All the young people are doing it!”

“Huh?” Shuichi asked, cocking his head to the side. It did look kind of cool in I’m a crazy ass bitch kind of way.

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child – my voodoo child.

“Feet!” Ryuichi yelled. “I command you tell me where you are dancing me to this instant!”

Don’t say maybe, maybe
It’s supernatural – I’m coming undone.

The elevator door at the end of the hall seemed to magically open for him and he danced his way inside, suddenly standing very, very still. His index finger on his right hand reached out, not of its own accord, mind you, and pressed floor number 13.

He hopped up and down, wondering if whatever was wrong with him was soon going to stop. He was starting to sweat, and Kumagoro was complaining about motion sickness.

“Hush, Kuma,” he told the bunny. “You’re not the one having to do all this dancing.”

The elevator came to a stop on floor 13.

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child – my voodoo child.

The doors opened and there stood the handsome stranger who had fixed his hair earlier that morning. He was holding what looked to be a dolly in his hand.

“Hello, Mr. Sakuma,” he said with a really red face and trembling knees. “It’s nice to see you again.”

“Oh, Tatty!” Ryuichi cried, wishing he could throw his arms around his neck. “My body does not seem to want to stop dancing and I’m sweating.”

The dark headed young man looked as if he were about to faint right there at the feet of his dancing God. He could see the shimmering sweat forming on that smooth brow and he wanted to lick its salty goodness.

He took off his overlarge sunglasses and Ryuichi’s sapphire blue eyes widened in shock.

“Tatsuha?”

“I want to have your babies,” Tatsuha told him, stabbing a pin with a ruby heart designed on it into the heart of his dolly.

Don’t say maybe, maybe
It’s supernatural – I’m coming undone.

Ryuichi grabbed his heart and his eyes rolled up in his head. He fell forward into the bigger man’s waiting arms.

Tatsuha held him close and smiled. He was holding his God in his arms. He nearly creamed himself right there.

“Shit,” he hissed, looking around. “Me thinks perhaps I should have done this on floor 2.”

Baby, baby, baby!
You are my voodoo child – my voodoo child.
