Blind Love
Brad Crawford knew as soon as his obnoxious telepath dropped into the chair across from his desk that he would not be getting anymore work done that day. He had ‘Seen’ it. So when the redhead started whining, he shut his computer down and focused on the German. “What do you want, Schuldig?”
“I’m bored, Bradley! I have to get out and do something.”
“You are still grounded from the nightclubs, so don’t bother asking.”
“I told you I was drunk off my ass, and that bastard spilled cheap beer all over a brand new, very expensive, designer linen suit!”
Crawford gave him a hard look. “That is not a good enough excuse for beating a man to death with a liquor bottle.”
“Damn it, Bradley!” the German stood and began pacing, an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips. “I need to get out. We both know that a bored telepath and cabin fever make a bad combination.”
Mentally pinching the bridge of his nose, Crawford leaned back in his chair. “No clubbing. Think of something else.”
Schuldig dropped himself into Brad’s lap and put on a pretty pout. “Take me shopping?”
“On one condition. You are not to even think about buying anything yellow.”
“What’s the matter with yellow?”
“It clashes horribly with all this lovely, wild red hair,” he answered, flipping a long strand out of the telepath’s face. “Though I’m sure you know that and use it to annoy the general populace while simultaneously attracting attention to yourself.”
Schuldig frowned and seemed to shrink into himself. Normally he wouldn’t care what anyone thought about him, but that Brad thought that bothered him and caught him off-guard enough to not be able to hide it. “Is that why you think I dress in colors that clash, Bradley?” he asked quietly.
Crawford was startled by the reaction from his telepath. “What else would I think, Schuldig?” he asked softly. “That’s the image you project.”
Schuldig moved off of Crawford’s lap and turned away to stand by the window. “Do you want to know why I do it, Bradley?”
“If you’d like to tell me, of course.”
“I’m colorblind.”
Crawford stood and moved to stand behind Schuldig, pulling the redhead back into his arms. He kissed the back of the German’s head. “There’s nothing wrong with that, Schuldig. A lot of men are colorblind.” They stood there quietly for a while. “Do you still want to go shopping?”
Schuldig nodded.
“Would I be offending you if I offered to help with colors?”
Schuldig grinned. “I’d like that, Bradley.”
