Summary: Kanda and Allen are sent to investigate strange happening in the Lovers City. The only problem is that the security is so strict and only couples are allowed inside. What’s there to do? Go undercover, of course as a couple.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allen walked down the corridor to the Chinese Supervisor room. As soon as he opened the door a floor full of piles of books and papers that had yet to be opened and looked at by the always busy man appeared. Only a small portion of the blue marbled floor was clean and he used it to reach the coach before sitting down.
Just then he noticed he could not see anything behind the desk because of the alarming number of papers stocked on it. It looked pretty much like a mountain, he noticed absently.
The door opened again and the blond turned around to see who entered the room this time. A shiver ran through him as the cold stare of the owner of Mugen.
“K-Kanda?! Were you also called by Komui?” the raven didn’t answer since he found the answer obvious. In normal circumstances, he wouldn’t be found within a ten metres range of the room; if he wasn’t called for missions he could avoid the passage entirely.
Instead of acknowledging the boy, he sat down in the opposite end of the coach, the furthest away from the younger Exorcist as if afraid he would catch anything by sitting closer.
“Glad to see all of you came!”
A happy Komui appeared as from thin air drinking his coffee from a blue cup with a pink bunny and, once more showing his ability of being total ignorant of his surroundings, smiled at the two like the papers on his desk weren’t his to think about.
Allen could have sworn he heard ‘Retard’ being murmured from somewhere on his right but chose to ignore the remark although he had to agree. Their Supervisor was very childish, but could take a 180º if needed, which wasn‘t nearly often enough in his opinion. Saying ‘all’ when there were only two other persons present was a little off even for the Chinese man and he found himself thinking whether or not he should tell Lenalee to cut the caffeine on her brother for a couple days.
Kanda’s voice awakened him from his interior monologue and made him turn his attention to the reason they’ve been called in the first place.
“What’s the mission this time?” If the tone of voice Kanda used (one that showed clearly his thin patience was running out) didn’t make the free spirited man answer, the glare he threw certainly did the deal.
“A strange chain of disappearing happened on a cruise for couples called Lovers City. The phenomena started several months ago and until the moment seven couples have been abducted by mysterious forces. We want you two go and investigate. Your target is the Innocence, if there is any, and if you find nothing” he shrugged as he brought the cup to his lips for a quick sip “then just relax and take it as a vacation since HQ is paying it.”
“Do I have to baby-sit him again?” Allen ignored the comment and turned to the older Lee brother for more details.
“Do we have any more information about this case? It seems to leave a lot of the story in the shadows.” he didn’t quite like the idea of running head in into the enemy hands on a boat.
Komui took his time before answering. “This is all we know. The security is too strict and our Finders couldn’t get inside since the only ones allowed on the cruise are couples.” He looked at the two men seated in front of him as if not expecting anymore questions. Both of them wore puzzled expressions.
“What do you mean, Komui?”
The Japanese took the initiative and asked even if he was pretty sure he understood what that implied. And sure as hell he didn’t like it!
“Eh, Kanda, you don’t understand?” The Supervisor took another sip from his strong coffee and proceeded to clear things up… “It means you two go undercover as a couple.” …or make even greater mess out of things.
“I refuse.”
With that the man stood and left the room before anyone else could try and make him change his mind. This was no joke, and if Komui thought he could talk him into pretending he was the cursed kid’s lover he was badly mistaken.
Allen also stood up shortly after and was making his way to the door when he felt a hand on his shoulder stopping him mid way. The mad glint in the Chinese man eyes told him he was in danger and there was nothing he could do about it.
“Now, now Allen. Why are you in such a hurry? You know, I recently invented a robot and I want your to help test it.” He kept dragging the teen towards the secret door at the back of the room and the boy was shortly put face to face with a purple and grey robot with a hat that resembled all too much the genius inventor at his side.
“And I present you KOMURIN V mini!”
Unlike the other monstrous robots the man had built before (and who had met their end at Lenalee’s mercy),this one looked inoffensive enough, Allen noted and stopped resisting; the piece of metal in front of him looked almost adorable and he didn’t have the heart to look away from the thing’s large, painted eyes.
Big mistake.
“Komurin V, I, your creator, order you to transform Allen into a beautiful lady!”
Before his brain had time to process the order and command his legs to start running, the English teen found himself chained to a chair and with a gas mask over his face. He was out cold in seconds as the chloroform entered his system.

Kanda strolled down the corridors towards nowhere in particular. He didn’t care if he ended up in the garden, the training grounds or even in the library as long as he blew some of his anger in the process.
‘Damn that Komui to the seven hells for always giving me jobs unworthy of my power. Why can’t he make that idiot junior Bookman go with the bean-sprout? I’m sure they both would enjoy the journey then and I would have one less headache.’
“Hello, Kanda.” The twin tail girl greeted him cheerfully, easily matching his long strides.
He glared at the person that dared spoke to him when he was in such a sour disposition, but his initial feelings of killer anger receded when he saw everyone’s favourite girl Exorcist. If he ever did anything to put her in a foul mood, he would never hear the end of it.
Lenalee just continued smiling and quickly closed the distance between them and took the swordsman by the arm. She liked the small perplexing surprise shown momentary in his black eyes. The growl of incommodity that escaped the Asian man didn’t make the semi-grip she had on him lessen. Instead she started pulling him toward the forest training grounds.
It was a rather nice day outside; not a cloud was floating on the early November sky and the temperature was still high enough to be pleasant, if Kanda would have allowed himself to enjoy the weather and the ethereal beauty of the still green trees he probably would have calmed instantly. Seeing as that was not the case, and the samurai refused to give his attention to anything else that wasn’t the reason he was on the edge in the first place, he found himself more and more frustrated. Even the calming feeling Lenalee indulged in him was starting to wear off.
“Has brother explained your next mission?” She asked swinging her legs back and forth like a little child while he continued watching her play on the tree branch. He just raised a black, perfect eyebrow before nodding shortly.
“I see.” Silence reigned between the two before Lenalee finally spoke again. “You should accept it and go. The mission, I mean .”
Smiling gently at the man she continued her thought although she could see he didn‘t like the subject. “You need time off anyway; even if you won’t admit it, everyone’s noticed your temper showing a lot more often these days. All of us get exhausted every once in a while after fighting so many demons and the best way to get rid of stress is a vacation.”
If Kanda was even the slightest bit surprised that someone was able to read him, he never showed it, neither did he argue with the girl. What for when he already knew who would win the argument; he never stood a chance against Lenalee when it came to these things.
“And your relationship with Allen must improve if you two will be partners for other missions.” Came the conclusion, making him furrow his eyebrows.
As Kanda was about to reply negatively to that last statement, a shriek of pure horror ran through the grounds of the Black Order.
Immediately turning around and jumping off the branch, respectively, the two Exorcists prepared themselves for the upcoming battle as they ran inside the building, silently asking themselves how could an akuma enter thier fortress, only to be stopped on their tracks by the sight displayed in front of them in the research room.
“A-Allen?”
Lenalee asked breathless as she looked at the young Exorcist kept away from her brother by Johnny and Tap Dop as Komui hid behind Reever. God, she never knew her friend could look so…so…
“Cute!”
Kanda just stood there and watched as the raven girl threw herself at the moyashi and hugged him motherly. Despite the boy’s anger just seconds ago, now the younger Exorcist seemed more preoccupied with getting air to his lungs as Lenalee continued crushing him to her chest. All the while Kanda didn’t move from the spot he had became glued to from the moment he saw the silver haired teen.
The boy was dressed in a pastel pink kimono with deeper shades of sakura flowers and silvery tree branches embroidered on the lower parts of the cloth and the sleeves, his already pale face had been whitened further by powders and light contour made the grey orbs shine livelier. To finish, white socked feet were shoved into zori*.
Allen, after finally getting the girl to let him go, understood he had everyone’s attention and the initial anger disappeared, quickly replaced by embarrassment. Crimson invaded normally pale cheeks and he looked at the floor, his fingers fidgeting with the sleeve of the kimono.
“What’s going on here?” Lenalee finally asked, although she had an idea of who the responsible was for all of the quieting ructus.
Allen just kept quiet for a while, blush never leaving his cheeks before he exploded into an explication.
“I don’t know! He” the boy pointed at the girl’s brother “took me to meet the new robot and when I woke up I was like this!” He motioned at himself with his hand. And then again he tried to reach the Asian man to make him pay.
Before he had the chance to move, however, Lenalee had already hit the troublesome man in question on the head with her Black Boots and knocked him out for the time being. She then turned to Allen and gave him a smile so sweet that it make his hair stand on edge.
“Allen, the make up will be necessarily for your next mission. And so will be those clothes.” The boy was about to say he would not go on such a mission when he was fixed to the floor by the glance Lenalee threw behind her as she left the room.
“You two leave tomorrow. Good luck.”
And with that he left the two men alone in the corridor full of people admiring the silver haired boy. Not that they seemed to notice as they were both still under the dread that came only from the Exorcist girl’s command.
“I guess it can’t be helped now. Let’s de our best, Kanda.” The boy smiled amicably at the older man who ignored him admirably.
The swordsman just ‘Tch’-ed and also left the room in an attempt to keep his body under control. He slumbered to the ground as soon as he turned the first corner leading to his room. He first thought it was his time to leave this world, but quite the contrary of his expectations, his heart was beating faster that usual, his blood running quickly through his veins.
He could not get that image out of his head. It was too innocent, too sweet, too adorable to put it into one word since he would not use ‘cute’ on anyone.
‘No’ he thought, gently slamming his head against the stone wall. ‘No, it was NOT adorable, as it wasn't sweet.’ He could not think like that of anybody, even less of a boy. No, it must have been a momentarily (and idiot) unexpected break from his brain that had led to such stupid thoughts.
He stood up, convinced that he really needed time off if he had began seeing the moyashi as an adorable creature as he made his way to his room. A little time in quiet, in the presence of the lotus flower should be enough to make idiotic things like that fly out of his mind.
Allen was still in the Research Department investigation room, completely forgotten about his problem from before, he stood looking at the place Kanda occupied just moments before. He pouted slightly at the reaction-or more like the lack of it- from the other man.
He knew the clothes he was forced to wear were those of a girl, still he believed he looked nice in them and all the others thought the same. So why not the black haired samurai? He couldn’t help wondering if he resembled too much a girl as he lifted one pink sleeve at his eye level examining it quietly. Despite anything it looked really cute in his opinion, and he wasn’t a fan of pink clothing at all.
The boy slowly started moving toward his own room not really hearing the pleadings for a photo he left behind. He had to get ready for the new mission and to also get some sleep. Maybe it would make him feel better and not think about someone who had no apparent interest in him.
